I can't thank you enough for this amazing info! You are SO informative and helped me navigate the insane amount of cloth diapers and different types. So so grateful ❤
I was seriously scrolling through your newborn videos today for inspiration to build my first newborn stash. I needed this! It's like you read my mind.
I’ve had this video sitting in my queue set to private for almost a week now lol. I’ve been debating if I wanted to upload it and just refilm it. But, I have no energy to refilm it 😂 so up it goes! haha
I'm definitely doing covers and flats. "BUT" I'm getting pockets and AIOs for backups just incase flats arnt my thing lol lol lol One thing I've taken from everything you have ever said is. What works for one might not work for all. I just really really love flats and covers so I'm praying it works for us.
I'm going for flats with this baby when he/she come along and thinking of a few all in ones for the hospital and recovery days.. I've been useing my 18month old as my genie pig for useing flats and covers so far she doesnt leak so much with flats and covers she leaks thru the sides on pocket diapers all the time.
There were a few diapers I cut out of the video. Willow was just really fussy and I rambled a lot lol. So I just took diapers out of this video. There was over an hour and 45 mins of raw footage 😂 I was actually set on NOT posting this and refilming. However, I’ve poured way too many hours into piecing this together and finding clips (my old computer has all of the original clips of these diapers and it broke in Oct2018. I haven’t salvaged the footage) So here are the diapers I cut out of the video: ⭐️Imagine Bamboo Prefolds size small: I loved this prefold. It does get bulky on a small baby but it buttery soft. I prefer it for pad folding. After using it for a year it has shrunken down to a newborn size. ⭐️Flour Sack Towels: when you wrap them around your baby they are the trimmest one size flat. I have a video about one size flats on a newborn at 8 lbs. It is linked down below.. ⭐️Nickis Small Bamboo Flats: These shrink down pretty small over time. I loved to pad fold these in covers. Theyre decently absorbent too! ⭐️GMD Clotheze One Size Muslin Flats: I really enjoyed these. These were bulky and fluffy. I found them best with the modified origami fold. This is one of my favorite flats in general. It is bulky on a small baby, so keep that in mind! ⭐️GMD Clotheze size small prefolds: This has been a staple in my stash for years. I use it to pad fold in my one size stash as well. It has been a great investment for both a newborn stash and one size stash. All of the diapers between the video and this list comes out to 33 diapers. There are A LOT of great diapers out there depending on the size of your baby and they absorbency they need. ❤️
Super helpful information! I have watched pretty much all of your videos and have learned a lot! How's the Smart Bottoms Born Smart 2.0 working out for you after the initial review?
I ended up getting that diaper a few weeks before it released. Willow was gaining a pound a week, so I didn’t get to use it long before piecing together the review. (After that review I now use products for a minimum of 3 months before beginning a review). Anyways, she outgrew it like a week and a half after the video went live. It would not snap around her legs anymore lol. The absorbency was okay... it was definitely more than the old style. However the old style was a better fit for chunky legs. The price is so meh to me... I wish I would’ve been able to try it at birth with her cord. I’d probably have a better well rounded opinion. I wouldn’t buy them new 🤷🏻♀️ Too pricey for a newborn diaper, imo. I buy most of my newborn diapers used anyways lol. If I ever had another baby (unlikely due to the recent vasectomy lol) I’d give it another try. It’s not great for chunky Babies, especially babies with wider thighs. So I’m kind of in-the-middle with my feelings towards this diaper since I didn’t get to use it for that long. I’m glad I was able to try it before it actually released, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to review it lol
@@JaysNest Thank you so much for the information. It is for sure a pricey diaper. I got 2 of the new style last month for 13$ each 2 of the old style for 5$ each when they were having a clearance sales online. It kinda feels like the new style is thicker therefore stiffer around the thigh area when compared with the old style, the snaps are also staggered towards the middle. But I haven't got the chance to test them on baby yet. I'm due in February and have been slowly building a stash:) Again, love all your videos. Great resources for people like me who are new to cloth diapers.
I just found out one of my cousins is expecting her first baby and she wants to cloth diaper because I cloth diapered all my babies. I’m so excited to be able to pass on all my diapers and wisdom to her 💖👍😊
You have to try Baba+Boo. They are a UK brand, and as I was not a big fan of pockets (which usually come with microfiber, that I hate), I was skeptical. They are so nice!! And inserts are very absorbent. They even do newborn pocket nappies!!
I'm not sure if you have made a video about this but would you maybe think about making a how to stuff new born diapers I find it a Lil hard to stuff to I only have 2 new born ones (gave to me) but would be awesome to see a video on a how to thing
Ragababe diapers are 30 -40.00 each though. Extremely expensive. Ill stick to the other cloth diapers. Lol but thanks for the review. Love all of your videos. Lots of helpful tips. I appreciate your thorough explanations :)
I don’t think I’d ever buy a ragababe brand new lol. I’m a sucker for a good deal on used newborn diapers though. I’m glad I gave it a chance. I wasn’t expecting it to be one of my favorites!
Thank you so much for such an informative video! I know (as a creator myself) that this was a ton of work! I will definitely be revisiting this once I am ready to buy my newborn stash 😆
Also I know you didnt care for the grovia nb aios but it is definately on my list to try with the next baby because I am loving grovia products right now.
Grovia is such an in-between diaper for me lol. Scarlett constantly outpeed them as a newborn and she wasn’t a heavy wetter. They have some cute prints though. It’s absorbent for light wetters but is tip-toeing the line for moderate wetters. Their current version is much better than the old version! I have 2 keepsake newborn diapers from Grovia so they hold a sentimental part in my heart ❤️
I was able to get 3 used diaper rite bamboo AIO on a b/s/t page and I just love the feel of them! baby won’t be here until July, but I’m already wanting to buy more of them for his stash. Would you say they fit/got used longer than the Thirsties newborn NAIO?
So appreciate the time and effort it took to film/edit this video!! I'm interested to see what my newborn cloth experience will be like this time. Everything I had worked really well for my daughter I'm interested to see if anything is different with diapering the new baby in April.
Congrats on your pregnancy! It’s always interesting to see what will and will not work with each baby. It’s always so different with each child. I always found it fun to try out different brands though ❤️Makes the newborn stage a little more bearable
Sorry for the double comment (although I may not be done commenting 😂) but I am really looking forward to actually using a newborn stash again. Leo I had tiny Gpants, a couple blueberry simplexs, and Prefolds and covers until he was 2 weeks old and I realized I hated Prefolds on him 😂 I then bought Bumgenius 2.0, more simplexs, lil joeys, Thirsties and a couple others but only put each one on him once because he put peed them in an hour 😅 I’m going a little wild with buying newborn diapers because we can’t TTC #2 just yet (it may be awhile 😢) and it helps me deal with that because I really want another child. Maybe I’ll finally get around to doing another video 😂
Cloth diapering a newborn heavy wetter is so hard sometimes. It can make newborn diapers seem worthless. Boosters help out so much though 👏🏼 Maybe not the perfect solution but they definitely help out so much!
We always leaked with them. I ended up having over 10 of them at one point but it was never enough absorbency. I’ve used them on my last 3 kids, but they just weren’t a favorite
I bought all of my Geffen inserts used in a large lot on a swap page. I never did bother to get more lol. I think I have about 20 of them. If it were my choice I definitely would’ve gone for the super absorbers, but she was sold out of them except for 1. So I have 1 super absorber and the rest are quick absorbers lol
so what is a good starter pack amount for new born diapers? I need to add some to my registry on amazon if possible. also can you help me understand why some moms choose used diapers? I think at first I thought the covers were the only used think moms bought but its my understanding that used diapers is pretty popular. pardon me for sounding gross but I would by second hand clothing but never second hand underwear which in my mind is the equivalent but thats only cause im ignorant to this whole thing.
For newborn diapers I suggest doing a little research into the diapering system and choose a few that appeal to you. I like a mixture of them all so I’m no help there lol. The best person to decide which systems are most appealing will be you ❤️ I have a huge newborn cloth diapering 101 series about the pros/cons to each system. Maybe that’ll be helpful for you to decide what you’d like/what’ll appeal most to you and your lifestyle. Buying used saves a lot of money. You can easily save 50% on what you’d pay brand new. Plus, for newborn diapers, they only wear them for a short amount of time. So there’s not a huge investment for a newborn stash then a one size stash. Some people hate buying used so it’s personal preference. You can sanitize the diapers by stripping and bleaching them. Just like how hospitals sanitize blankets, sheets, gowns, and baby clothes- we can also sanitize and deep clean all fabrics. I use mighty bubbles to strip. You could also use RLR, just follow the directions on the back. Then do a bleach soak. I Personally do a bleach wash. Fluff Love and Cloth Diaper Wash and Care have specific directions on how to strip and bleach your used diapers. If used diapers gross you out then you could always buy on sale 😊 that’s a good way to save $$$.
I’m going to try the newborn boosters/doublers with the next baby because Leo only used newborn diapers for 2 weeks 😬 definitely trying to use them more for our other children 😂 have you tried any others or just the geffen? I recently bought some Thirsties newborn aios and I think the lady accidentally threw in a Thirsties doubler because I didn’t find it until I was stripping those diapers

Did you mention where you got those “hemp boosters” from? I didn’t see a link in the drop down
Your videos are so thorough! Thank you!! 🙌🙌
Thank you for including us.
It was one of my favorites with willow ☺️💕

which one pocket is the best please ?

I was able to buy Euc ragababe newborn plus size 0 cloth diapers for $10 & Medium euc for $16 on mercari
How come the Blueberry Simplex newborn didn't make your list of fav newborn AIO's?
Thank you so much for such an informative video! I know (as a creator myself) that this was a ton of work! I will definitely be revisiting this once I am ready to buy my newborn stash 😆
How have I never heard of mysweetpickles nb rental program?!? Holy moly it’s a good deal! Definitely will be using that now.
Yay, thank you! Our next little one is due this coming March :)
Congrats on your pregnancy 🥰
Are the Geffen Hemp inserts the ones that are 40% hemp and 60% cotton. That’s all I can find!
YES! that is one one. With any hemp insert, it will always be blended with a percentage of cotton
GMD organic prefolds and fitters are much softer than their bleached or unbleached versions.
100% agree! I’ve seen a few people on Facebook disagree with that, but imo the organic are clearly softer ❤️
😘😚💕💕
Loved my ecoposh fitteds!!! But you are right...no newborn fitted is absorbent enough for a super heavy wetter!
Also I know you didnt care for the grovia nb aios but it is definately on my list to try with the next baby because I am loving grovia products right now.

if u ever sell your bumgenius sunshine print think of me
😍😍😍😍it is so beautiful!!!
Yayyyyy, thanks for sharing! 🤩 do you have any video on your Favorite cloth Diaper for bigger baby (not newborn)?? Thank you xxChristina
I do not have a video about my favorites for a bigger baby. However that’s a video I’ll definitely consider! I think Jess Is Blessed has one though 💕

what was the company that you mentioned makes the newborn hemp inserts to go on top of AIOs?
These are the inserts I used. They are from Geffen :)

Destiny Gladden geffen newborn hemp inserts
