we started cloth diapering my baby when she was 3 days old, born at 6 lb 7 oz. All we needed for the newborn stage was 12 GMD half flats (pad fold) and some one size flats (origami fold). I washed every day. I used the one size rumparooz covers that I already owned and it fit over the pad folded half flats (albeit it wasn't pretty. It was large, but it worked). I was also able to use the one size flip covers over the origami-folded one size GMD flats on my newborn. We went through 18 diapers a day! She hated being wet and peed/pooped allllll the time. I can't tell you how many disposables we flew through day to day, and 3 days in, I had had enough of seeing our money literally get thrown away into the trash can and started earlier than I had planned with the cloth diapers. It was no prob!
we used GMD prefolds too, and also lil Joey's all in ones and 3 thirsties all in one newborn. I'm not sure how many we went threw we started as soon as I could hold my baby after my emergency c section, and my boyfriend would take the dirty diapers an either take the bus or ride his bike to a laundry mat an wash&dry them when I had 5 all in ones left and bring back the other diapers clean within a few hours
I love Jay's Nest videos I've been watching her since I was 16 and just had my first baby at 2 weeks before I turned 26. so cloth diapering was a breeze from watching her videos edit: I might of been older but I started learning about Cloth at 16 I might of been 18 when starting to watch her videos
Watching your videos AGAIN 1.5y into my cloth diaper journey 😅 we’re about to start ttc for baby #2 and my daughter also has recently outgrown the absorbency of her 6 layer bamboo/cotton/hemp inserts and I don’t want to buy more so I’m planning on making some different absorbency options 😊 ❤ forever thankful for your channel! I’ve learned EVERYTHING I needed to know about using cloth from you. I recommend your page anyone that is interested in cloth that needs more info on all of the different steps, styles and materials.
Right!? ❤ going through the old cloth diaper footage of Scarlett made my ovaries scream! I am so freaking excited to cloth diaper a newborn again. You're lucky because you get to meet and diaper your baby first 😉
My baby is arriving in August and I bought my newborn stash (36 prefolds, 13 covers from a variety of brands and a few bamboo & mf boosters & inserts) on earth day. Will be buying my OS stash on black friday, by that time, my baby will be around 3 months old and I would've already known which ones I like best and which ones to buy. Perfect timing for me! :D
Loved this video! Perfect for first timers! Cloth diapering a newborn is my favourite stage as well. I’m hoping I’ll be buying newborn diapers again soon 🤞🏻
Thanks for sharing, I spoke to my other half about cloth nappies and he is really up for it. I'm going to price up today, but your video is so helpful! 😊😊😊
Yay! That is super exciting 😊 I'm happy to hear he's up for it too! One of my biggest tips: find support. UA-cam is definitely one place for support.. I will support you or give you advice if you need it just ask. There are online forums and Facebook groups dedicated to cloth nappies and support. The support has made this cloth nappy journey worthwhile!
Jay's Nest Thank you so much, I priced some cloth diapers last night and it isn't as expensive as I imagined. I'm going to order next month so I'm going through all your videos and taking notes 😀😀 You are such a great help 💕
I bought a lot of used diapers, I got a lot of Happy flute AIO newborns (tiny), lil joey(tiny), and a few alvas. I have a feeling they will only fit a couple weeks, so i did not want to buy any new, i only got these because they have the snap down. Im going to get some cheepy covers to add to my stash too. Whatever we dont like i will just sell on the marketplace where i got them or something. I also got a butt load of Fuzzibunz (the ones that you can size with the elastics and some sized ones) and some of them i have changed the elastics and some are too difficult for me to get to easily. I may sell those off super cheap. I think I have paid $150 for almost 100 diapers!!!!!!!! Used is the way to go!!!
WOW! That's An incredible deal for all those diapers. It's hard to find large lots of diapers that are in good condition. 👏🏻👏🏻 I have a few diapers in my stash for those first few weeks so it can fit under the cord. Sometimes it's just nice to have those on hand because they're easy changes and fit perfectly under the cord. Even if you don't get much use out of them you can still sell them, which is a huge plus! That's the main reason I got a few Lil joey knock offs lol. Lil joeys and the knock offs are actually my husband's favorite diapers to use on a new baby because of the simplicity. I just wish they made them with more absorbent materials!
Yeah i had 3 different ladies I bought from, and 2 out of the 3 threw in a few extra things, like wet bags and extra inserts so i am set i think, i just want more flats, and covers into it to round it out
I spent a little less than $75 on my nb stash. I have 2 nb rumparooz covers, 5 Thirsties size 1 covers, 2 nb sweet pea covers, 3 Little joey, 1 Fuzzibunz first year and a few buttons diapers that I heard can work for the newborn stage. I also have all a bunch of prefolds, fst and small boosters from my son. I scored all of the new nb cloth diapers from a Bargain Barn that sells everything 40-70% off retail price!!! 😮
Jay's Nest I couldn't believe it when I seen the price tag. I snagged as many as I could find. Lol I bought them almost 3 years ago and I'm finally going to be able to use them. I'm so excited!!!
Yes! I agree so much. 90% of my stash is used. I bought a few new diapers as an earth day splurge, but used is definitely the best way to build a stash.
Great video! I definitely went way overboard with newborn diapers.... I have 14 Lil Joeys, 12 bumgenius littles, 12 Fuzzibuns 1st yrs, 6 Kawaii pockets, 8 fitteds, 30 prefolds, 20 covers and then 12 Fuzzibuns elites and 10 size 1 Applecheeks, which are both supposed to fit newborns. The only consolation I have is that I have pretty small babies and all of them except my son stayed very petite, so I will probably get some extended use out of them. Then I have several huge totes of larger size diapers. I just keep finding good deals........I've definitely fallen down the rabbit hole and this baby isn't even here quite yet, LoL! Almost......we are less than 2 weeks away from my induction :)
Jill Franklin wow that’s a lot!! Hopefully your baby will be tiny... my son is tiny I prefer prefolds/flats and covers and I have about 10 flats and 18 prefolds and couple inserts that are charcoal bamboo and regular bamboo like 11 covers ... and 7 aio’s but my aio have 2 or 3 snap rises 🙌🏾 he should fit them for a while
UmmMahirah yeah, I've heard alot of Moms say they prefer prefolds and covers for the newborn stage. I also have a bunch of bamboo and hemp inserts.......I don't really plan on using the microfiber ones at all. My plan was to have plenty of diapers so I would not have daily laundry, we are also business owners and everything stays busy. This is my 5th baby, but first time cloth diapering a newborn and first time cloth diapering full time. I started cloth diapering not long before my youngest was potty trained and used disposables for night time and outings. So I'm super excited to do it full time this go round!! :)
Sounds like you have a solid stash! I went overboard last time too lol. Trying hard not to do too much this time 😂 The size 1 will definitely fit at birth and under the cord but it will look super weird! Another UA-cam momma showed different fits of diapers on her 5lb baby. Applecheeks seemed to be okay on a small baby. The rabbit hole is so hard to avoid lol. On the plus size you have An amazing variety! Also, 2 weeks is so close. Super excited for you!! ❤
Jay's Nest I know.....I'm so close now! So excited to see that little fluffy butt!! I look forward to absorbing all of your videos to help me along the cloth diapering journey!! 😊
Thank you! I am working on finishing up my newborn stash for baby #6. He should be here in the next couple of weeks and I am trying to find tiny cover recommendations because he is expected to be around 5.5lbs. I have to admit, I am going to order a new flip cover just to see if it works. I agree you need at least need 36 changes, I did 48 but 24 of those are flats so they will extend to toddlerhood. This video has me so excited to have a fluffy butt again!!!
Ahh! Your Baby will be here very soon, that's super exciting!! ❤ The bummis XS (possibly called the super brite) fits from 4-9 lbs and it's truly a tiny cover. Thirsties also has a preemie cover that should also fit 4-9 lbs. As much as I really enjoy my Rumparooz cover it would look crazy baggy on a 5lb baby, but there's a good chance it will work. I just filmed a video yesterday About getting cloth diapers to fit on skinny legged babies. It'll be a few days before I get it upload. There are a few hacks you could use on baby to help the diaper fit around the legs. Keep an eye out for that. This UA-camr made a few videos of diapers on her baby. Here's the video she made about baby being 5lbs: ua-cam.com/video/FQm6hA07j94/v-deo.html She also made a video of diaper fits at 4lbs. She uses the newborn hacks ill be showing here on my channel. Hopefully this video I linked helps out! There aren't many cloth diaper videos out there about small babies under 7lbs.
I only have 6 weeks left and I’ll be 40 weeks! I think we spent $250 on newborn diapers and got 30 diapers. I’m thinking that’s decent for name brand but not sure lol. I only gave myself $100 for the OS stash this time and kept to selling what my daughter had or just keeping her diapers.
I'm so sorry girl! But you know I'm always here for advice and help if you ever need it in the future ❤ I'd even loan you diapers if you needed it. I don't trust many people with my diapers because I've been screwed over by 2 people I am close to, but I'd trust you. You've been a good friend to me!
I feel like maybe my daughter wasn’t the typical baby lol. She pooped 2-3 times a day and peed about 3-4 times. She also started sleeping 6-7 hours through the night at 4-5 weeks. I feel like I might be in for a rude awaking with this baby lol .🤣
I have a few snappi's but I've only ever used 2. I don't mind giving you a snappi! Just let me know and I can mail it out to you. Your daughter literally sounded like a breeze! lol Hazel was a deep sleeper at a young age too... didn't realize how great that was until Scarlett came around 😂😂
Yay! That's exciting. It's fun to find people due around the same time as me. I get excited when other moms share that they're due in June, too. I'll be sharing my whole cloth diaper journey from birth and it's always fun to have other moms to chat with during the process about what we like and don't like. I was able to do that last time around with Scarlett, too. A few UA-cam mommas had babies around the same time I did and we talked frequently about what was working and what wasn't. We also gave each other recommendations of what to try. It was really fun!
I’m 31 weeks pregnant and have been talking with my husband about cloth diapering. I love your videos...I learn something new from almost all your videos
I have loved watching your videos and been recently binge watching them. I’m pregnant with twins and have two other children. I had high hopes to cloth diaper my last baby but my plan didn’t work out as he had lots of acid reflux and would scream and kick every time I tried to change him. I didn’t know what was going on with him and gave up on cloth diapering. All that to say I know this time around won’t be easy because of twins but I have more support and at least some knowledge on things I’ve liked. I’m really wanting to cloth diaper this time around and stick to it. I’m trying to focus on budget friendly but also be gentle on myself and have some quicker options for when things are crazy. Do you have any advice or recommendations on what a good stash would look like? Like combo of covers and one size? I’m really intrigued by the flats. Both of my babies have been on the bigger end 8.6 and 9.4 but since I’m having twins I’m expecting them to be no bigger than 7lbs each at the very most. Thanks for any advice. Love your videos
I am really loving flats for my newborn right now. Flour sack towels are a cheap "one size" flat that's trim on a newborn when pinned around baby. Since you'll have 2 you'll have to wash more often. I'd say 50 changes is a good amount for twins. That gives 25 changes for each baby. Having more is always nice but 50 is a good starting point. You'll probably have to wash every day and a half if the babies are going through 10-12 changes/each a day. That way you'll have a fee clean diapers while everything else is dirty. The flip one size cover, buttons one size, and best bottoms one size are all covers that will fit an 8-ish lb baby. It'll be bulky but they should fit depending on the babies body types. I'd do 8-10 minimum covers for each* baby if you plan to use them full time.newborn. 6-8 minimum each* if you plan to use them part time Covers that are roomy- buttons nb, Nicki's nb, blueberry size 1 capri, blueberry mini coverall, thirsties size 1 duo. These will all fit past the 12 lb range. Most nb diapers only fit until 12 lbs so you can get good use out of those covers. Most of them will work until 15-18 lbs. it'll depend on the babies body shape. You could get a cheap cover like the happy flute nb but we retired it at 10lbs because it was so small. AIOs are nice and easy changes. I'd suggest searching the bst for used ones. The blueberry simplex will fit for a long time. I love the ragababe but I'd never buy it new. Sometimes you can find them for $10-14/each on the swaps. Do a mixture of what you think you'd like. It's hard saying what the perfect stash will look like for you. Even for me, my preferences change with each child I have. Each child is shaped differently. Each child grows at a different rate and each child needs a different amount of absorbency. It's hard saying what you'll love until you try it out. With that said, I think too often we search and search and search for the "perfect" diapers. In all reality we could make do with what we have and make it work. Keep doublers around just in case your baby needs extra absorbency. Maybe keep a few covers that'll fit a smaller baby and a few covers that'll fit a bigger baby. There's no saying what size the twins will be. I wasn't expecting my baby to be so short and small at birth. I'm glad I had diapers that would fit a preemie sized baby.
There's actually a good possibility he's sensitive to fleece! It doesn't happen often but sometimes babies are sensitive to the weirdest things. I've seen babies sensitive to pul/tpu and even the elastics on diapers.
I LOVE the cute monkey print on the diaper behind you. What type of diaper and what brand is it? Do you know if it’s still available somewhere to buy? ☺️
It's a print from blueberry! It's an old regular line up though and it's retired. That specific diaper is a blueberry newborn simplex all in one. I think you can also find it in covers! The swap page will be the best place to find it. There's a "blueberry swaddlebees" swap & and a "blueberry buy sell trade" where you can search for that specific print. Those 2 groups will be your best bet to find it 😊
Nicole Ritchey I’d say 6-8 Because you can get like 3 uses out of a cover and you can switch them up as long as it no poop and you can wipe them let them dry and use them again
Thank you for dropping by 😘 I part time cloth my older toddler. Sometimes I don't even want to mess with cloth lol. Hopefully she's potty trained soon!
Jay's Nest haha it’s just so much easier when I’m out to use disposable or when I leave them with my mom or mother in law so they do t have to deal with it
I didnt cloth diaper my first but am cloth diapering this go around. Im due in june also. My first was 9lbs 8oz at birth and never even wore a newborn disposable, he had chunky thighs and i am getting some used diapers from a friend and im unsure if she has any newborn size or if theyre all one size but i dont plan on buying any newborn size because im not planning on having more kids so it doesnt seem a worthy investment to me, is this crazy or am i on the right track?
It's always hard saying if it's worth the investment when you have a baby on the larger side. Was your last baby a fast grower? Some one size diapers start fitting around 10 lbs, but some babies don't fit into them because of the leg elastics. There are certain diapers like Thirsties duo size 1 cover and Nicki's newborn cover that could definitely fit way longer than regular newborn diapers. Most newborn diapers only go up to 12lbs, but these covers can go up to 16-18 lbs. they would work really well paired with a small prefold. You can also use Small prefolds for your one size stash for folding into a rectangle (pad fold/tri fold) and laying into a cover Or using it as an insert for a pocket diaper. So not only does it make a good insert for a larger newborn but it also works for a one size stash, too! Could you ask your friend what OS diapers she has? While most one size diapers are advertised to fit at 10 I believe a more realistic number is about 12-13 lbs before one size starts fitting comfortably. You can definitely make one size diapers work on a newborn *depending* on brand. It will be incredibly bulky and look really strange lol. Some one size diapers will fit down the thigh and maybe even hit the knees, especially if you're trying to get it to fit under the umbilical cord. But if you're on a budget then you can make your one size diapers work! I do think a newborn stash is worth it. I've had a fast grower who only wore them for a few weeks. I only invested in a few newborn diapers. I was able to sell some (I also saved some and will be reusing them for the third time). I used the money I got to pay for more one size diapers when she hit the 10lb mark. I invested in some Bumgenius, which surprisingly fit at 10 lbs, it was super bulky but it worked! Maybe that would be an option for you? Buy a few covers that will last you much longer than the average newborn size, like a Thirsties size 1 cover or Nicki's newborn cover, and a few small prefolds. I feel like that would be a really good solution that will get you a longer use than most newborn diapers. Thirsties size 1 cover is advertised for 6-18 lbs. Nicki's newborn cover is advertised 5-13 which I really feel is incorrect- it's a huge cover. It started to comfortably fit around 8.5lbs and fit until 16/17 lbs.
This is very interesting. jay I am about to start cloth diapering my 8 month old (I know I should have started sooner). I am going to go with covers. Please tell me after how long I change them?? What about night can he sleep through with one?? Any suggestions for that. Also, do I change diaper cover every time as well??? Waiting for your reply
You should change your baby as often as a disposable. Usually 2-3 hours os the average time. But change your baby sooner if he/she pooped or peed before then. Some babies will let your know when theyre wet or dirty lol. Most newborn diapers dont have enough absorbency to last through the night. I personally try to go about 5 hours at night before changing, but will change baby sooner if he/she has pooped. I only change the diaper cover if it has poop on it. Some people let it air out between uses when baby pees but I don't. As long as pee doesnt get on the cover or poop, then i eill continue to use the cover until it's dirty.
Jay's Nest thank you. This was extremely helpful. Thanks for taking the time out. Does the no change until dirty diaper cover rule apply to pocket diapers or they change every 2-3 hours ?
Sorry, I have so many questions and thoughts for you lol. Your the only person I personally know that has cloth diapered and cloth diapered a newborn. What diapers do you think you’ll take to the hospital and how many? I’m thinking about giving myself the option since I can technically do it if I want (they just don’t like it). I don’t wanna regret not giving myself the option If I decide in the moment I wish I would have tired it. I have 36 diapers at this point. I’m running out of room for them so I’m gonna leave it at that lol.
I think 20 will be MORE than enough if you plan to full time cloth diaper! Even bringing 15 would be good. Babies barely use the bathroom those first few days they're born. How much did your daughter weigh at birth? From your stash- the born smarts will be the perfect fit under the cord. Definitely one of my favorite "hospital" diapers! thE simplex should be good too! We had no issues with the simplex fitting at birth under the cord. The newborn snapless fitted should work well! You'll have to fold the front down a little bit to fit under the cord. The sweet pea cover was also great at birth for us. Rumparooz covers will work great! Truthfully I preferred the Rumparooz over the sweet pea covers. The eco posh fitteds will be crazy bulky but it'll work. You could probably get away with not using a cover with the ecoposh fitted at the hospital! So from your stash things that'll work for an average sized newborn: Born smart, simplex, NB snapless workhorse, eco posh, rumaprooz cover, and sweet pea cover.
I don't think the sweet pea AIO worked straight from birth with Scarlett. Also, I'm not sure if the Thirsties AIO with Velcro will work under the cord.. I know the snaps do, though. Also, the Nicki's fit ok at birth. I had to tuck down the top pul, but I had snaps. I'm not sure what it would look like with Velcro. The grovia fit at birth but the top rubbed against her stump even when I tucked the top pul down. I could have used it but I preferred to wait to use it. I didn't like anything touching her stump at all lol. It freaked me out! So I preferred diapers that fit far enough down from the cord.
Jay's Nest My daughter was 6 pounds and 14 ounces at 40 weeks. She also grew very slowly until she hit a year. At 34-35 weeks pregnant my daughter messaged almost 4 pounds and was predicted to be 7 pounds and 6 ounces. Baby boy at 34-35 weeks is measuring over 5 pounds. If I go to 40 weeks or over they are estimating 8-10 pounds depending on how he grows. He’s definitely much bigger and longer than my daughter was at this point. So I guess he will at least be a pound heavier probably. Although, he could come early. He moves like crazy and head butts my pelvis like crazy. I think he already wants out lol 😂. My daughter wasn’t like that at all. She didn’t even wanna come out at 40 weeks when they induced me.
Each baby is so different so it's always hard saying how fast they will grow. If he's anything like his sister then he will get really good use out of newborn diapers! If he's 10lbs then the born smart would be a bit snug lol. But it would still work great for under the cord. If he is bigger then the sweet pea AIO & grovia might work well for him under the cord. It's weird how just a few pounds could make such a big difference in newborn diaper fits! Do you plan to take a video clips or pictures of him in the hospital in cloth diapers? I just love seeing new little babies in diapers!
Why would you spend thousands on Cloth diapers😂😂😂? You're suppose to wash them 🤣. The goal is to save money and provide a healthier alternative to plastic diapers... and help saving the planet!
Wow, you said you’ve made hundreds of transactions buying and selling diapers! Just curious why? Hypothetically, couldn’t you just make one purchase and reuse for future babies? Then sell it all once you decide to stop having babies?
Depression can do that. I have a handful of older speed fold Friday videos where I dive into my story with mental health & over buying. I don’t personally suggest buying all your diapers at once though. It can be good to try different styles and brands to see what you like before investing everything all at one time. I couldn’t buy a whole stash upfront when I first started. So I slowly bought over time and that was the most reasonable. I often bought used from different people.. so a diaper here and a diaper there. I always sold things that didn’t work or I didn’t love. I spent a few years trying different brands, which birthed this UA-cam channel & my reviews. I Collected limited edition prints for awhile and it was fun but I don’t care to keep up with prints anymore. I’ve been really content with my stash since 2020.
@@JaysNest Yeah, I can understand that. Well, we're all glad you did, because now we have this valuable information! ;) I'm just wondering: if you don't buy all at once, wouldn't you not have enough? Like the 36 you recommend? Our first baby is due in a month, and we have some random cloth diapers that were given to us, I bought just a few fitted newborn ones and I'm going to buy more diapers soon. I think I'll get mostly one-size covers and flats, maybe just a few pre-folds to try out and maybe some pockets. I'm not sure if I want to get more newborn diapers or not, just because they only last a few months, and we only plan to have one more kid after this one. I might try a one-size that tends to fit better on a newborn, even if it's bulky, to save a few bucks. I don't know, it's a hard decision! Just trying to get the best bang for my buck, I guess. I don't want to, but I could even mix in some disposables for a couple months until the one-size stash fits better. What do you think?
I wouldn't recommend using the cheapest fleece - on the contrary, I'd recommend to AVOID it. Think: why is it so cheap? Because it's made with the cheapest materials possible, including dyes, which can (and most probably do) contain harmful chemicals. In regions where these cheap fabrics are dyed whole villages suffer from a plethora of diseases including cancer. Nasty stuff, definitely not better than disposables. I'd rather not risk it. (Plus it's synthetic anyway, so not the best thing to put against the baby's skin!)
Depends on how many diapers your baby goes through. My baby is a week old and going through 15-20/day. I couldn't get by with 12. My 3rd baby was going through maybe 10 diapers a day. I had only 12 diapers with my 3rd child and it barely worked. I washed 2x a day. It was stressful. There were barely enough clean diapers while the dirty diapers were washing and drying. So at the end of the day it's personal preference. If you can dedicate the time to wash that often then 12 *might* work if your baby isn't going through 15/day. I based these numbers off of 15 changes a day because I've had 2 children go through that many changes in the newborn phase.
we started cloth diapering my baby when she was 3 days old, born at 6 lb 7 oz.
I love Jay's Nest videos I've been watching her since I was 16 and just had my first baby at 2 weeks before I turned 26. so cloth diapering was a breeze from watching her videos
edit: I might of been older but I started learning about Cloth at 16 I might of been 18 when starting to watch her videos
Oh my goodness 😭 seeing your tiny newborn made my heart melt ❤️ I can't wait to meet and cloth diaper my little one
Right!? ❤ going through the old cloth diaper footage of Scarlett made my ovaries scream! I am so freaking excited to cloth diaper a newborn again. You're lucky because you get to meet and diaper your baby first 😉
That's true lol but I know both of our babies will be here before we know it ❤️
It will all be worth the wait! I'm also excited to see what works for you and your new babe 😊
I was lucky and was “gifted” a set of newborn prefolds. I lady was giving them away on Facebook 12 NB size clotheez and 4 covers
Love your videos - so helpful than others I've seen!
Loved this video! Perfect for first timers! Cloth diapering a newborn is my favourite stage as well. I’m hoping I’ll be buying newborn diapers again soon 🤞🏻
My fingers are crossed for you along this ttc journey ❤ I'm following along and I'm hoping for good news for you soon!!
Thank you so much!
Awww im due june 25th an this is my first cloth baby and im so excited. My daughter was a disposable baby so im excited for the change
That is exciting news! I'm so happy for you😄 I'm glad I could help!
I have a few diapers in my stash for those first few weeks so it can fit under the cord.
Oh my goodness 😱 You got an amazing deal on your stash 🙌🏻
Jay's Nest I couldn't believe it when I seen the price tag. I snagged as many as I could find. Lol I bought them almost 3 years ago and I'm finally going to be able to use them. I'm so excited!!!
Buying used is SO the way to go....especially newborn diapers!
Hopefully your baby will be tiny... my son is tiny I prefer prefolds/flats and covers and I have about 10 flats and 18 prefolds and couple inserts that are charcoal bamboo and regular bamboo like 11 covers ... and 7 aio’s but my aio have 2 or 3 snap rises 🙌🏾 he should fit them for a while
Jill Franklin forgot about my having like 2 workhorses and 2 osocozy fitteds
The bummis XS (possibly called the super brite) fits from 4-9 lbs and it's truly a tiny cover. Thirsties also has a preemie cover that should also fit 4-9 lbs.
As much as I really enjoy my Rumparooz cover it would look crazy baggy on a 5lb baby, but there's a good chance it will work. I just filmed a video yesterday
About getting cloth diapers to fit on skinny legged babies. It'll be a few days before I get it upload. There are a few hacks you could use on baby to help the diaper fit around the legs. Keep an eye out for that.
This UA-camr made a few videos of diapers on her baby. Here's the video she made about baby being 5lbs:
ua-cam.com/video/FQm6hA07j94/v-deo.html
She also made a video of diaper fits at 4lbs. She uses the newborn hacks ill be showing here on my channel. Hopefully this video I linked helps out! There aren't many cloth diaper videos out there about small babies under 7lbs.
Girl I wish you weren’t so far behind me. I really needed these newborn diaper videos when I was starting my stash.
Jay's Nest Your honestly the sweetest! ❤️ I might take you up on a snappy there’s no way I’m paying $10 for those lol.
I have a few snappi's but I've only ever used 2. I don't mind giving you a snappi! Just let me know and I can mail it out to you.
Your daughter literally sounded like a breeze! lol Hazel was a deep sleeper at a young age too... didn't realize how great that was until Scarlett came around 😂😂
oh yay I saw a Blueberry ! LOL it's like playing "where's waldo" with diapers
A little random but I’m expecting my first baby this year. I’m due in June just like you !! Idk why I got excited about that lol
Due any time now and I cannot wait to start cloth diapering with the stash I built 🥰🥰
I’m 31 weeks pregnant and have been talking with my husband about cloth diapering. I love your videos...I learn something new from almost all your videos
I’m really happy to hear that ❤️
I have loved watching your videos and been recently binge watching them.
Jay's Nest thanks so much for all the info! I really appreciate your detailed input so helpful!
When i used fleece liners I felt like his butt was red and when I stopped I didn’t see it anymore 🤷🏾♀️ maybe I’m using the wrong fleece
Those 2 groups will be your best bet to find it 😊
How many covers would you suggest, if doing 36 "inserts".
Nicole Ritchey I’d say 6-8 Because you can get like 3 uses out of a cover and you can switch them up as long as it no poop and you can wipe them let them dry and use them again
UmmMahirah I was thinking 8 but wasn't sure! Thank you so much. ☺️
I agree with UmmMahirah, 6-8 has definitely been the perfect amount for an every other day wash! 😄
This is awesome...
Thank you! I'm glad it was helpful 😊
I just watched I found you through the fb group great video I also cloth diaper only part time tho
Thank you for dropping by 😘 I part time cloth my older toddler. Sometimes I don't even want to mess with cloth lol. Hopefully she's potty trained soon!
Jay's Nest haha it’s just so much easier when I’m out to use disposable or when I leave them with my mom or mother in law so they do t have to deal with it
I agree. Not everyone outside of my husband and I are open to changing the girls' cloth diapers.
Yes! It'll apply with every diapering system :) with pockets you'll get a new diaper each time baby pees/poops.
So from your stash things that'll work for an average sized newborn:
Born smart, simplex, NB snapless workhorse, eco posh, rumaprooz cover, and sweet pea cover.
Jay's Nest I also added some bumgenius 2.0 newborn. I had a Nicki’s gift certificate and got them for $2.
Well, we're all glad you did, because now we have this valuable information! ;)
I'm just wondering: if you don't buy all at once, wouldn't you not have enough?
30+ newborns is excessive. If someone is willing to wash every day or every other day much less is doable. About half that. My friend did 12 newborns.
