I love the look of MiniDV standard definition. This one is even more clear than the VX2100. I’d love to do documentary on this one day.
5:45 this camera was significant because it was the first prosumer camcorder to shoot 24 progressive frames. Nothing else did it. Up until this point, camcorders had a framerate of 29.97 (or 25 if PAL) and it was interlaced. The ability to shoot 23.98 was considered a crucial step in making video look like film by emulating its framerate.
60i. But yeah, this was actually more significant because of its use to make many popular TV shows at the time and a couple documentaries.
The thing I like about this camera, and others like them is the how easy it is to change the manual settings. I’m not a big fan of touch screens controls, I prefer actual knobs and buttons😂
Yeah I agree I also hate having to go into the menu to select most things
awsome to see a scooter rider reviewing cameras, currently working on my own project to feel it out and see if i want to invest in a more expensive camera
Heck yeah I’ve been riding scooters for almost 15 years now. And you can definitely go down a rabbit hole with these old camcorders so be careful haha
lol i love that people are still buying these things because i literally have one of these and was looking for more videos about it.
Yeah I love this camera
I have that camcorder and it is my favorite and I still use it . Great video, yes keep it a little longer .
Keep it a little longer?
@@brandoncameracollection Yes before you put it up at your eBay store for sale, you said in your video that you will keep it because those are hard to find. I was lucky I found mine in my town for 80 bucks with a few tapes and chargers, I have other camcorders but it is so fun to record with the Panasonic DVX100.
@Mega7476 yeah it has such a good image too
9:27 -- wouldnt the mic input just be the XLR's?
Love it, thank you!
Yeah an extra test video would be sick.
> I also did end up getting a canon xha1s off ebay lol. Excited to compare it with my dvx
3:22 my DVX100 has the same weird black goop on the focus ring, any idea what it could be?
good video! Could you make a zoom comparison between this dvx100 and vx2000 or 2100 model? From what I investigated, this camera does not have digital zoom, only optical zoom and I would like to see the difference if it is a lot comparing one with the other! anyway, thank you very much!
Yeah usually the professional cameras didn’t have a digital zoom. I could probably do some like the with my vx2100
Great video! Just picked a DVX100b up over the weekend. Did you manage to find that mic input? Cheers
No I never did I think it’s only the on board mic or xlr
I want one of these but they’re still to expensive for me. I saved your eBay store though! Could you try using the lomoinstant fisheye lens with normal cameras? And the other lens adapters they have too :o
How are you getting audio ?
Hey man! I recently came into possession of some Sony HDR-FX7 camcorders in great condition. Any advice on where/how to sell to get the best profit? They seem kinda obsolete in today’s camera landscape, so I thought I’d ask for advice
eBay is always the safest bet in my opinion. You can look up that model on there and see how much other people are selling it for then you can base your price off of the the condition of your camcorder
hey man I js got a vhs camcorder and from what I’ve seen you know your stuff, soo I was wondering if you know where to get battery chargers for the RCA batteries that slide in form top to bottom and not in and out
Yeah the hard part about the full size vhs cameras is they don’t make after market chargers. You’ll have to look on eBay to see if you can find one. You can find those rca batteries on batterykings.com but they are a little spendy
Senks ❤
Hey brandon I have been thinking about getting a camcorder to record interviews and b-roll what old camcorder would you suggest for $100?
You can usually find a canon gl1 or gl2 for a really good price
@@brandoncameracollection I'm having trouble finding a decent one is there another one you can suggest?
@ThBreadMan it really depends on what kind of camera you are looking for. You can look at the Sony ccd-trv models like the trv62 or trv65. They are hi8 cameras but are usually very reliable and usually around $100. You don’t have to specifically go with those models there are a lot of different options for the trv hi8 cameras from Sony and most of them are very similar
@@brandoncameracollection I'm looking for something that will give me alot of control over the camera
@ThBreadMan well you’ll have to keep your eye out for one at good price but I definitely would look at the dvx100, the vx2100, Sony pd170. If you can handle the size of the camera you can look at a canon xl1,xl1s,xl2. I have also found some Panasonic dvc30’s at a good price too and those actually have night vision
what shot the clip at the front? surely not the dvx?
Yes it was it was getting dark so it looked a little weird
@@brandoncameracollection wow that was my dream camera 20 years ago...footage looks worse han my Hi8 from back then haha
@stillben could be the scene file I was using too
