Saying Rockhold is "just an MMA fighter" is kind of undermining his grappling ability. Granted it's impressive how successful he was as an MMA fighter and to be able to grapple at such a high level without getting submitted.

Imagine opening your BlTCHB0Y mouth and not knowing anything. Luke has been a Black Belt in BJJ since before Nicky graduated High School and has competed for the better part of 15 years in BJJ. Nicky has only been training BJJ for like 5 years. And it’s not like Luke Rockhold was taking MMA fights around this match. He was fully focused on BJJ only. You have no clue what you’re talking about, little man. Experience wise, Luke has the upper hand big time.

100% - been grappling for a year now. You can tell the difference between a genuine mistake or pos who try to sneak one in. All you gotta say is "mouth guard and gloves?" They're usually pu$$ies - I've had only 1 incident where we changed from grappling to striking.

This is embarrasing for Rod. When an mma guy agrees to come to your sport and challenge you, you must show how levels above you are. Rod was very much shyte here. Imagine what Craig Jones or Gordon would do with Luke here. They would play with him. Rod was scared of giving an inch in position because he knows he is not good.
He was a blue belt here. Rockhold had years more bjj experience. Nicky rod was a year and a half in.

I'd say the top Jiu-Jitsu guys would have ended this fight early. The same would happen on the other side if they fought in the cage. The difference is bones would get broken in Jiu-Jitsu vs a knockout in MMA.

That's pretty much all grappling sports. Wrestling, judo, Sambo etc. Usually only other competitors and family get into it. Hard to follow if you don't train/compete. The vocab, positions, points, rules etc. Its hard keeping up with even when you do train haha. This wasn't exactly the best example of great grappling

I know I'm just a club player, but these no Gi matches are so non-technical I find myself zoning out and not paying attention to grips or anything....which roided-out gorilla can smash the other faster without actually smashing him. G.Ryan and Musumeci are always setting traps for less skilled players, but most of these other guys' matches seem to be determined by sudden explosive tackles or who can slap their opponent with a collar-tie hard enough to shake his brain loose of it's moorings. If this is the way BJJ is going...then why? NCAA wrestling is already like that but the guys train that way...so they're better at it...and the rules are based around that so it works better....
Like I said, who am I, just a blue belt, but this match is like so much of no-gi I watch; more athletics than skill. In my opinion.

Lets be honest.. This is the most boring sport ever. At highest level is is all about defence so nothing really happens. Sure if you train bjj you get something out from this but even so you did struggle to watch this whole thing didnt you?

Nicky Rod is actually Natty as it can be. Gordon already made those claims and Derrick from MPMD helped him test. Lined everything up for Nicky to be Natty. It’s more so Luke is going up against an ELITE Bjjer. What does Luke do. Hit pads and looks pretty for the camera, no actual improvement. That’s where the differences are.

@@Nick_Tank Well, at least at that moment in time he proved to be 'clean' -- we obviously have no idea when it comes to his entire career. For all we know there is the possibility that he was off cycle after ADCC and letting his body recover. That being said, it speaks volumes that he was willing to get tested at a moment's notice and came back in-the-clear, so I think we should (overall) view him as being a clean athlete.
