    I was tossing between this bag and the ed 20L and after going in store I noticed due to the turtle bubble design of the ed zip it actually looks about the same size on my 5”3 frame. I think it’s due to the depth but either way I love my Ed 20L as it gives me that extra space at the top if I ever need it which has come in very handy so far. Love the way you configured the bag intervals!

    Thanks for awesome videos! I'm considering buying this, the everyday tote or the prvke 21 to use together with my PD 35L duffle. The backpack will carry minimal travel camera gear (A7r3, 28-75 + small lens) and clothes etc in the duffle. Which one do you think I should go with? The backpack will be used on destination for working, exploring, smaller trips etc. So hard haha. Also, the way you use the top part to store camera with mic on is a game changer! Do you think by adjusting the dividers that a Sony with Ninja V attached could fit? Thanks again for great content!

    Great review thanks! What are your thoughts on the 15l for carrying an a9 70-200mm f4 (new sony one), the 16-35f4 pz and the 55mm f1.8, go pro kit like yours and filters, spare batteries , water bottle and maybe a tripod on the outside. I thought for sure the 20l but seeing how much you in the 15l im now unsure!

    I own the 10 liter sling, the 30 liter everyday backpack v2. I am going on a trip and I don't want to use my 30 liter because the bag is going to be with my pretty much the whole time and it is too big. My sling is not going to fit what I want to bring, I use that if I'm going on day of shooting. This was the perfect size for my camera body and three lenses and accessories. Awesome review, you sold me on the bag, just ordered it in black, very thorough review.

    this is one of the best reviews where I've seen someone actually show us how to pack it with different setups! For the FX3 w/ mic combo, is it possible to access that from the side or is it only from the top? Would be awesome if it was convenient to access from the side with the mic attached.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  Рік тому

      Definitely possible to access to the side - you'll just need to make sure you shift the dividers to allow for a deep enough space since the mic will protrude. Most efficient way - with mic - is probably from the top though.

    Nice review. Since you’ve reviewed two of the bags I’m considering I’m curious to know which you’d prefer for a work/photography hybrid. I’m leaning towards the PD ED Tote because it’s a little bigger with a different design then your transitional backpack.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  2 роки тому +2

      Hey! Good question - I think if it’s between those two and you’re looking for something that’s good for the office/work - ie bringing a laptop and other items - the Totepack is a solid option. It’s taller and also flatter in over all profile. It should fit your laptop nicely and also have room for camera, lens, etc. the tote handles make it really easy to pick up and put down at your desk or during a commute. The only challenge is that the side access isn’t as wide open as the ED zip. Which means pulling your camera out can sometimes be a pain.
      The ED Zip - I love as a day bag for camera gear - but will likely never carry it to work - where I need to bring my laptop, charger and other things. An option could be the 20L ED Zip - but it defeats the purpose of a smaller edc. I do prefer the ES Zip for camera carry over the Totepack.
      So I would say if it’s a work first kind of bag where you need your laptop and those things - with a camera, Totepack is great. And it can even fit an entire tripod inside. The straps are a bit thin - but totally comfortable if it’s not fully loaded all the time. I would also recommend against using the capture clip on the Totepack - the straps are thin and I always get scratched by my clip when putting the Totepack on 🤷🏻‍♂️

      @@ItsDesmond Thanks for taking the time. I also have the peak design 5L and 10L slings. Even though they are great slings I find myself wishing I had a little more room to fit things like a mic or small tripod. The 10L is too big for my smaller camera setup and not exactly compact or comfortable to wear with my full-frame gear in most settings. The 5L is perfect for my fuji xs10 and two additional lenses but I have to jam other things in I'd want. Maybe I'll do what any sane bag lover would do and buy both the totepack and the 15L and get rid of the sling altogether. Ah...decisions.. decisions In any case appreciate the feedback, keep turning out these great reviews.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  2 роки тому +2

    Hi!! Do you have any comments on adding a hip belt to this backpack? I saw there is a small opening at the bottom, behind the luggage spacing, but not sure if a hip belt could be attached.
    Also, how big water bottles can it hold? And do you know how much water it can withstand in the rain?

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  2 роки тому

      Hey! I haven’t tired a waist strap - it’s honestly light enough not to require one. You’re only limited to so much space. In terms of water bottle - I would say a 20-32 ounce water bottle is possible. The 32oz would have to be tall and slender vs the wider design. And for rain - the weather sealing is solid - the down side - no rain cover included. So I wound not recommend sitting in rain for prolonged periods of time - no matter how great weather sealed zippers are - eventually water makes its way in.

    I watched your video on the peak design zip 15L, my question is would this backpack be okay putting a canon R3 with the rf 24-70 lens on the body?

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  Рік тому

      Hey! Yes - vertically that setup will fit in the side access pockets. It would just take up most of one side. But that leaves more space up top and on the other side. All depends on how you configure the folding flaps. But it will definitely fit the R3 and 24-70 combo

    Can it fit a 15inch (actual size 14 inch when measured ) Lenovo gaming laptop ? Or is it gonna be a tight fit.
    Could you also mention your height for reference

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  2 роки тому +1

      It’s going to be a very tight fit. Especially if the Lenovo is thicken than your average MacBook. I would say this is great for 13 inch MacBook Pro - IPad and that’s about it. I primarily use this as a compact adventure backpack - where i bring a medium amount of gear. I will normally travel with a full sized gear backpack like my wandrd prvke if I need laptops and more gear. I’ll also have a small sling back or even this bag - so I can transfer setups to the smaller bags for day trips or hikes and leave my travel camera bag at the hotel. I’m 5’10.

    Man I sometimes can’t believe I passed on this bag, I was just not a big fan of the side access and the bag “vomiting” your gear when opened. I picked a Langly Alpha Compact as my main bag, great looking and solid bag imo but it sometimes feels like the space may not be enough (can fit everything I have for now though). Right now I’m looking to buy a sling for everyday use and I’m out with my wife and daughter so I don’t miss any photo opportunities and I’m definitely considering the PD slings.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  2 роки тому +1

      Honestly - same feeling for me! I passed on this bag a couple times actually. Once when deciding on the Peak Everyday Totepack and again when buying the Ona Monterey Backpack. But I will say - there’s always room for another bag 🤣 I’m at the point where I have 1 perfect bag for each scenario. My wife is clearly sick of it.
      But for sling bags - I love the peak design 3L sling - did a review really early on and it’s the best minimalist sling I own. Unfortunately my set up has grown a bit - so I use the Ona Rockaway Sling as my go to sling bag. Fits one body and a lens, one body with go pro or Zv-1 and small tripod OR TWO Bodies with lens!!

    • @ljtech20

      @@ItsDesmond ah yes, you can’t have enough bags lol. That’s exactly why I’m looking to pick up a sling so I don’t have to carry my backpack around. Definitely watched both reviews of yours (great ones, I might add!) and might be picking up the PD 3L sling. I currently have an A7III with a 35+85 1.8, and that’s as much as I’ll carry on a sling for now. It’s just a way to have my camera always with me.

    Wow-great vid! I'm rediscovering PD after HATING THEM when they started. I think they're finally getting around to fixing their mistakes. E.G The mag latch closer on 20L is no question beautiful. But if you load up the top of the bag-it sucks big time. Exposes top to water, doesn't close securely-so effectively it limits the EFFECTIVE working space of the bag. I got so pissed off about paying the design team for a beautiful bag that only works empty.
    Now this finally looks like something!-more efficient, better thought out... I'm starting to go all in now on PD-totes, slings, (I had to modify original field pouch to make it work) Now maybe this one. I also love the travel packs-the modules seem to make these origami dividers suddenly make sense. I've always felt they were an awkward PITA-You got a lens. e.g. in the center, lower shelf - it basically might as be buried in the family crypt. Do I want to swap out my lens? Nah? I'll just use what';s already on the camera. The side pockets look way better than the labyrinthine mess in original EDPB. Thanks-I better finish watvhing.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! Yeah - totally agree with the first gen PD bags. I’ve been avoiding the everyday backpack for a long time. Which is funny because I’ve bought most of the newer bags from them that deviate from the original OG design. And definitely agree that their recommended 2-3 level divider setup is pretty useless most of the time. Which is why I really like the T style layout.
      They just released their new version their travel bags as well. A slightly smaller version their travel bag looks pretty cool and has that more clamshell opening style you can use with camera cubes and packing cubes.
