@@CliffordSchäfersküpperUntil you miss the slot on the capture clip and your camera hits the floor. There's a reason why Peak Design doesn't promote that hack.
That’s exactly it! I like the PolarPro one but I feel a bit more secure with the capture clip since it CANT go anywhere. Never had any issue with the PolarPro one but there’s always just a little fear.
@@dunnadidit That’s what stopped me getting the Polar Pro after I saw a clip of someone camera falling off the clip. This is great though. I already have the peak design kit and this breads new life into how I can use it. 🔥
It’s really solid if you make sure you’re connecting it properly. The only way I can think of that it wouldn’t work right is if it was user error… BUUUUUTTTTTT… we’ve all been there when we’re in a hurry and we don’t quite “make sure” so I’m always very careful with it lol.
Been using this exact setup and equipment for years and I swear by it! Love it so much! Though I will add one thing. Having the anchor on the right side so that you can also use the wrist-strap is amazing.
Just went out and got the clip and strap and I love it. It works even better because the slider that goes on the bottom of your camera can be put into the clip in 4 different directions. It's fantastic.
Already had the PD quick release, picked up the slide lite, and took this combo to San Diego for a week. Worked flawlessly. Thanks for such a genius idea, Dunna!
I went a bought a capture clip immediately after seeing your hack. Brilliant. It arrived today and I love it. Such a quality of life improvement. Thank you.
saw this right before a week in Boston and it was a fantastic carrying method. showed my brother and he immediately bought the quick release plate. big thanks!
Just received my Peak Design Capture in the mail today. Follow you instructions and PERFECT. I am also able to keep my Peak Design Clutch attached which makes it a win-win for me. Many Thanks.
I am a big fan of peak design products so was very interested in watching this Video.. Attaching the Capture Clip to the strap is nothing short of genius .. why did I not think of it. Superb hack 👏
I started watching this and I was like “ok how good is this hack”. Now my reaction is 🤯 I have the wrist strap and love it but thinking of getting the slide lite for my new a7c. I have a black rapid sport strap currently but its really bulky for the a7c.
Been using both the Slide and Capture Clip for sometime, but never thought to combine them. Great tip! Another small tip... add the dongles your camera bag (if you use one) and you can multi-purpose the slide strap... saves a tad of weight and bulk.
Oh my God, I thought l was the only one that took those extra strap holders and took those off immediately! Thank you SO much for creating the solution that you suggested at the end of the video - 🙏🏻💓
Haha you're not alone! Sony fixed their terrible dangly bits in the last handful of cameras, but man were they annoying before. I still like this solution better though!
I’ve been using these accessories for some years now, I love that hack of yours. The really clever aspect of the retainers that attach to the camera (or long lens) is the Wear Indication. At the point where the cord retainer folds over itself, at the camera anchor points, there will be abrasion taking place as the camera weight rubs the retainer cords against one another. When the cord begins to wear the sublayer of the cord will be revealed - and it is yellow, so it shows up and warns that cord and retainer unit needs to be swapped out. If that is ignored and wear continues the next sublayer of the cord is red and becomes visible. Time to REALLY get that retainer swapped out. I should add that, after three years of daily usage, I have not experienced any wear whatsoever. A superb pair of products and worth every penny/cent/centime…..
I've been looking at the peak design straps for a long time and just didn't want to buy it without being able to see it, after seeing this video and being able to actually see and feel the strap during my recent NY trip I am so glad I got it.
The Peak Design Capture Clip 3 works much better than the older versions, it is now much easier to get back on, but must be lined up. I have used it on multi-day backpacking trips, even gone running with it on my pack. No problems at all. It works very well. And yeah I never lock it and have never had a problem. Attaching a strap to a capture clip is a great idea!
Your hack works very well for me. I was looking for this type of recommendation so that I carry my full frame camera more, rather than just relying on my smartphone. Thank you
Brooooooo the hack is a game changer. That’s the kind of “influencers”, we need. Guys that comes with innovative solutions for ppl. Thanks for that bro 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
30 secs in, I'm in TOTAL agreement with you, Dunna! I have the Lite, however I have been kicking around getting the Capture Clip for my A6400/Sigma 16mm combo. EPIC Hack too! Dunna Nailed It! 😁👊🏾
Watched this couple days ago .. liked it so I ordered one and received it today .. it’s fantastic .. loved the build quality makes me comfortable leaving my $$$$ camera / lens hanging like that. Thanks again.
I’ve used the slide mini on my a6100, I ended up returning it the day after, since I’m using the cuff in midnight blue, it’s the best accessory I could’ve bought
Brilliant hack, thanks! 5:48 You can still have the right orientation of the camera (lens down) even if the clip is directly attached to your belt since the arca plate is square, it can go in sideways. The Pro Pad might make it more comfortable though, but I've found myself not using it as much recently and just attaching direct.
Holy cow this is genius. My biggest bug bear is the strap sliding about the place when I remove it from the camera. This solves it! It will make the times I need s strap bearable! Thanks Dunna!
Now that's a really useful way to use the capture and slide. Beyond brilliant, I can get another capture and leave it on my backpack and use one on the camera strap. 🙌
Great overview of the Peak Design straps and clip I have been using that hack for years as the original capture clip has cut outs for the attachments to pass through that way they don’t get pinched by the clip when it is tightened it’s a shame they didn’t add those slots to the newer version.
Dunna are you following me? Like physically? I was out this weekend taking photos and I was literally telling my wife I need to find a better strap that I can take on and off easily...and now you post this! 🔥
Been using the Slide since it’s first release and the capture for a couple of years now. Best accessories I ever have!!! I also use a PD Everyday Backpack and their wrist strap. I just love Peak Design stuff! 😅
I love the Peak Design Capture Clip, and I’ve standardized everything on Arca Swiss plates, so I had a quandary when I wanted to add an L-Bracket. I didn’t want the bulk of an L-Bracket and a separate Capture Clip on the bottom. I found the 3 Legged Thing "Ellie PD Capture V3 Compatible Universal L-Bracket”. It has a Peak Design compatible clip machined into the bottom, saving some thickness. The bracket is Arca Swiss compatible in both landscape and portrait orientation. The bracket is “universally adjustable”, but you do want to pick the regular or short version so as not to block your battery door. The regular version works well on my Sony A7III.
I have the Ellie PD l-bracket. Great quality, only slightly annoyed it's only v3 compatible as I started with V1, then V2 and finally got the V3 as well. The old PD quick release plate works with all three, the Ellie PD only with V3. Apart from that it's a great product.
Well, I didn't learn much in this video because I have all those Peak accessories. But they are amazing and I endorse them heavily. I don't have issues with the red tabs because I don't shoot video. But if I do, that's a very trick workaround. Thanks!
Awesome! I have two of the clips, one for belt and one that lives on my backpack. I have never once thought about throwing the strap and clip together like this. I love it! 😎
Great tips! Love PD’s system. My favorite strap is actually the Leash, even with my chunky Nikon gear. I attach PD’s included anchor base to the tripod mount, another option. So everything hangs off the bottom, away from my hands. Works with Capture Clip plate too (plate with anchors will still fit in Clip). Need to try your strap / clip combo setup! Super versatile straps 👏🏻
the hack is brilliant, Peak Design should mention it.
Agree tho it would be alot cheaper to just use the pro pad
But you can do the hack over a long winter jacket - which I wish I could have done today!! My belt was hidden under many a layer.
I did it today with my big ol parka!
Great hack! Peak Design should add this to the next generation!

This is the first “hack” video I’ve seen where my mind has actually been blown by the usefulness!
Genius. Also genius with the bungee jump voiceover.
😜
Genius. One of those hacks you think “Why didn’t I think of that”. Taking the Polar Pro feature and hacking it for Peak Design. Thanks for this. 👍

Fantastic hack! Can't believe I have the Slide and a 2nd Capture, and never thought of this. Brilliant !!

He's probably talking about the Peak Design wrist strap since it also uses the anchor system.@@Xanbunny

Good job. Thanks for sharing
Brilliant. I love how you combined the 2 products to make the whole even better…and glad I already have both. Thanks!
I think a lot of people already had these laying around! And the best part is that it’s super easy to take em apart and use them normally too!
