Adirondack Summer S2:E4, Under Lake George in 4k

- Everywhere I swim on Lake George, I like to bring along mask, fins and snorkel, and check out what's going on down below. The fish, the geology and whatever else is to be seen down there. Lake George of course is very clear water and pretty clean. So you can see quite a bit. Shot with the GoPro Hero 7 Black in glorious 4k in the Summer of 2020. Some of the sights we see along the way: Northwest Bay Creek, Shelving Rock, Log Bay, The Sagamore Resort, and the under side of our dock. And a fair amount of fish.

Thank you so much for sharing this video. We come up to Lake George almost every year in the summer. We spend a lot of time renting boats. I never thought of snorkeling here before, now I can't wait to try it! Stay safe

Nice video we will be there for ten days in July my favorite place in the world the adk.
Thanks ...hope you enjoy your time here. But 10 days is nowhere enough.
Lake George is my favorite place in the world!! I was lucky enough to spend my whole summer on the lake and my favorite thing is canoeing and kayaking to different places and swimming around, you go to some of my favorite spots in this video :) Very glad I found this in january it's helping me re live my favorite time of the year, can't wait until its warm enough to swim again :D
this deserve so much more recognition. such a great video, made me miss Lake George!!!
Hey thanks Victoria, and welcome aboard the Channel. Times up for Lake George. We're fleeing back to summer, so I hope that catching giant fish off the Withlacoochee River and watching rocket launches at Kennedy Space Center counts for something interesting.
Thanks for the summer memories! Watching this in December really sparked a longing for summer.
Gets me going too! I have a feeling this will be a more pleasant summer....but I don't want to jinx it.
The duct-taped snorkel was the very first thing that caught my attention at the beginning of the video !! Pretty cool vid.....very clear down there !!
i snorkeled at Log Bay!!!
Such a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing!

thanks for your very kind words.
fantastic video Lake George is a special place such a magnificent body of water
I live in Michigan now, but NY is my home state. I have some rocks in my garden that came from the bottom of LG. We would vacation with our boat on the lake and spent many lazy afternoons anchored in the bay just past Paradise bay. Sure miss those days.
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Extremely enjoying. Thanks!
I visited Lake George in 2019 Summer time. Thank you for the video.
Very interesting video. Thanks for sharing.
Slady, i wont be able to go to lake George this year! 😢😖 i wish i could have meet you!
Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. I am trying to get down there this summer and do exactly what you're doing but wanted to make sure the water is safe. It looks so clean!
I've never spoken to anyone who has emerged from swimming in Lake George and then suffered an intestinal illness. Can't say it's never happened. The crowded and busy beaches in the southern basin by Lake George Villages have had closures due to bacterial limits being exceeded, but that usually got traced back to ducks, or a sewage plant overflow, or road runoff. Overall the lake has issues with legacy septic systems and lawn fertilizers, but it's not so much an issue with bacteria as it is with compounds of nitrogen or phosphorus energizing algae growth. Our association draws it's drinking water supply right off the end of our docks. It is chlorinated by regulation. The lake is very clear for the most part and I don't know anybody who shies away from swimming because of concerns about water cleanliness. All of us have inadvertently gulped down a mouthful of lake water while swimming, and I don't know anybody, including me who has suffered for it. Is it perfect? No. Considering how many people swim and enjoy the lake and draw water from it, it's doing relatively well. That's one of the drawing cards. Relatively clear water, and relatively clean water with the above caveats noted. C'mon in. The water's fine.
Amazing video. Thanks.
John, thanks for tuning in !
i grew up here but sadly had to move away :( this video brought me so much joy!
Well, by late summer the bug should be at bay, maybe not until 2022...hey book a trip.
We should be friends, i work at a marina around the corner from your house. I also boat and snorkel frequently!
Thanks for solving a mystery for me .While snorkeling by Huckleberry Island I found stone cribbage and wonder what they were for. They looked like the cribbage under the dock you were at.Must have been docks there at one time.
Best Lake George video on UA-cam ☺️
Bernie !....Thanks! Is there a cash prize with that nomination??
@@calvertthedad I don’t think so, but there should be lol.
i must say that my favorite thing to do in Lake George is snorkel. my parents lived in Bolton Landing til recently when they moved back to philly.
You and me both...luckily I get to live there.
that was so peaceful
My kids are the 4th generation to go to lake George. It's a peaceful place to vacation
You going out this summer? I live in Johnstown. I'll fill your tank and have my own gear!
You mean like scuba I assume. I thought about getting into that but never did. Tried it a few times elsewhere.
I am going up there in a couple of day’s I go up there at least 10 times a year in the summer it is so gorgeous
Great video!!
What lense do you use
I've been using the GoPro Hero Black 7 which has a fixed lens. The camera at the "7" level doesn't need a housing for going underwater, up to 30 feet or so, which is very handy.
Darn, I'm here too soon for 4k.
Great, great video CB.
Nice work Chris
Nice video..
Where were you in lake?
Northwest Bay, Log Bay and Shelving Rock Bay
I’d kill for 70 degree water. The Bay is warm when it’s 60!
Yeah the California ocean is not exactly like Florida. Or a NY lake We got you there. Lake George gets into the upper 70s, but it doesn't stay there long. May is virtually unswimmable. Half of June is cold. Then we get about two months of tolerable swimming, and then it's off the cliff....like it's doing now in September. I've gone swimming in the lake in October...and it's always an adventure...and not in a good way.
I've always been scared to swim in lakes, no problem with the ocean though.
Well actually I think a lake is safer. Fewer creatures that can kill humans. Plus no major waves, and no riptides. I do love the ocean, and truth be told, approached with caution the ocean can be reasonably safe. I never worry about getting chewed on by anything at the Jersey Shore, because it happens so rarely. I think the biggest danger at a lake is the same danger as the ocean: drowning. But if you're a competent swimmer, and have some common sense, neither place is particularly hazardous.
@@calvertthedad I agree
Hi do you dive at lake George regularly?
is this chris from wnyt spectrum ?
That's the guy. Check out the WNYT stuff from Lake Placid I did.
