- DAY 2 OF 2: I went to New York for a work event, but had the opportunity to extend my travel and spend time with family. While I was with my sister and her husband, we did a lot of fishing! In this video, I got to my destination of Lake George, NY and was able to fish from the bank at this big beautiful lake. I had pretty low expectations but was actually happy to have a lot of success. Smallmouth, Rock Bass, and Pumpkinseed - can't beat it!
As I have talked about in the past, the Daiwa Presso Travel Ultralight is such a cool rod. Glad I brought it with me! Learn more about that rod in this video: • Fishing With The DAIWA...

In September and October we catch Landlocked Salmon right around all the steam boats.
Whoaaaa that would be awesome!
Try the near by Glens Lake, you will almost always catch something there. It’s smaller and very populated with fish. Also not many people fish there.
If I ever come back, I will keep this in mind :)
Ethan, if you ever find yourself in the Windy City, please seriously shoot me a text or give me a call. I can put you on smallie TANKS under the Chicago skyline.
Yeah buddy. For the urban jungle there are plenty of places to fish in IL. I've been sharing about this year's epic smallies, rock bass and other fish with the Cicadapocolis we've had. Tight lines
I’d definitely love to! Hopefully I’ll have a trip to Chicago one of these days.
Lake George is beautiful. I grew up in Connecticut and we used to vacation there just about every summer.
I would love to get back! Big fan 🤠
Adirondacks are great for all kinds of fishing, been going there for decades, thanks for sharing your adventure. Tight Lines.
I hope to get back! Fun times 🤠
Man... these last 2 videos really made me homesick for New England. I remember visiting Ft. Ticonderoga (Lake Champlain) and Lake George when I was somewhere between 6 - 10 years old. That was 1958 - 1963ish. It so interesting how pictures can bring memories back to us of things that we haven't thought about for over 60 years. Thank you so much for sharing this adventure!
Maybe you need to plan a vacation!! 🤠👊🏽
I picked up that same Daiwa rod for some trout fishing but its way too fast to sling 1/32 oz jig heads well. Looks like it works well for this.
Try using lower diameter line and you’ll see improvements!
Very Nice. I have lived in upstate my whole life, going up to the lake today for some fishing. Real cool how you are fishing right in the village like that. Congrats on the NY PERCH!
Thank you Mike!
only ever been to lake george area once, but I mostly spent my time nearby at trout lake. Best fishing I have ever had in my life and caught my pb rainbow trout there. Only like a 20 minute drive from lake george
Ooooooh I’ll have to try that if I get back! Sounds fun :)
What’s the lake called?
What is the round sticker at the bottom of the rod butt? I have an older rod that has one but the writing is worn off.
I honestly haven’t looked. Probably just some kind of part # or something I can toss.
I came across your page on accident and love it! Crazy thing is lake george is such a small village, most people dont even know it exists sitting in the catskills and Adirondacks but that is where i grew up and am from. Its crazy!
Glen lake is right down road a bit you would love that lake too pm and i can get you adress to launch at a dock if you would like
Someday I hope to get back! Thanks so much for the kind words and support.
I live in Lake George village. There’s great bass fishing here.
I bet! If I had a heavier rod with me I would have been chasing more bass.
I have to admit that because of your videos over the years, you have piqued my interest in the Diawa travel presso. I was and still am considering the TFO trout/panfish 3 piece rod but your given me something to think about. And I’ve already been thinking about the Shimano Nasci whichever route I go…
I think you’re considering great equipment no matter what route you go. Thanks for watching!
I fished that same exact spot, didn’t catch anything but still had a good time
Probably a timing thing. Hope you get another chance!
I’m getting some mule fishing horse flys can I use any jig head I have? (I love your videos you inspired me to start ultralight fishing
As long as the jighead fits the size of the bait, you can use whatever you want. Look for a size 8 or 6 hook.
Hey Ethan, I love your videos. Just got an ultralight rod after binging your videos and a panfish magnet box. I'm up in new england as well. Haven't had too much success in getting bites, but having fun.
Hang in there, the bites will come! Thanks for watching 🤠👊🏽
Great video. A very beautiful area of New York State. Thanks for the video.
It was a great time! Thanks for watching
About 30 min from me. I spend a lot of time on Lake George! Awesome place to fish! I was actually just fishing there the other day.
Awesome! It’s a really cool lake 🤠
That’s my home been there fish there live there!!!!
Awesome!! You have a beautiful place to call home
That rock bass at 4:30 was a stud
Gotta love fat rocko’s!
Nice rock! But more importantly, what was that sandwich?
Some kind of random turkey sandwich at a local bar & grill. Tasty stuff!
Hey! How long is that rod that you are using?
It is a 6’ rod! Thanks for watching 🤠
grew up on this lake and still live and work around it. beautiful place
Such a cool area. Hope you get out and catch a few fish soon :)
Lake George is the cleanest lake in the COUNTRY!
It’s a beauty of a lake!
Very beautiful video. Your channel made me fall in love with ultralight fishing. Keep going my friend and I’ll always be looking forward for your videos 😍👍🏻
Thanks so much!
What an awesome place to fish, so very different from Ca.. Kinda looked like those smallies may have been spawning...
I think the smallie was probably on a bed but I can’t say with certainty!
Nothing like a good Rocko bite!
Always fun! 🤠👊🏽
I bought the dobyns from your suggestion. Should I buy this for something more compact for the car?
That’s your call! I don’t think it’s necessary to have a bunch of setups but if you feel like you could benefit from a portable travel option, this is definitely a good option. The Dobyns is a better rod though.
@@FishAnything ahhh. Is the Phenix elixir worth buying if I already have the Dobyns?
U make fishing look so easy. I'm used to bottom fishing like carp abd catfish . Now I'm trying out soft bait. Easy no need to bring a lot of stuff 😂.
Hope you start crushing fish!!
West Ausable River for wild browns around Lake Placid is GORGEOUS if you’re up that way (i know you’re probably editing after the trip but still)
I’ll have to keep that in mind if I ever return!! Thanks
I live in NY i fish LG all the time
Such a cool lake!
10:52 i believe thats actually a shellcracker/redear sunfish
Right near where I live! 😊
You live in a beautiful part of the country! Enjoy :)
I was just fishing there today lol
Hope you had success!
@FishAnything I did and this video was actually the reason I bought the ultralight setup I used
I learned the value of UL/pack-rods on motorcycle trips. They fit in saddlebags well, and can be ready to fish in minutes. I keep a UL packrod in my car for spur of the moment tries at unfamiliar water. Ultralight gear makes the little guys and panfish fun!
A pack rod on a motorcycle is the American dream 🤠🇺🇸
Hay I work for lake gorge steam boat and I fish all over but if u go towards Moore town near the docks, you’ll catch more fish
Good to know for if I come back 🤠👊🏽
Lake George looks gorgeous and seemed like the fish kept you busy. And smallies on ultralight...dude that's amazing. Have the same rock and boulder issues when I go up to northern WI but man do they hold fish. Blessings brother
It was a blast! Definitely recommend this area for outdoorsmen.
To anyone else here who is right handed and learnt to manage your rod with the right hand and reel with the left, don't you find it super weird when you see people changing hand after casting?
Everytime I see Ethan switching hand, despite the fact he catches more fish in a day than I catch in a year, I am all "NooooOOOOOOO!!!! YOU'RE DOING IT WROOOONG!!!!"
Also it seems to me a lot of people in the US are doing it, aren't they?
Lol in an ideal world I would have learned like you. But at this point, I’m happy with how I fish :)

Ayyy Lake George is awesome, just went to a wedding there last year I hail from over the border in western MA
Awesome! Next time you get over there, you should bring a rod :)
Nice sharing full watch video mashallah yummy 🙏💯💯💯
If you ever have to travel for work and you’re in Denver, you don’t even have to bring her around or kayak. I’ll let you borrow everything of mine.
I’ll keep that in mind 🤠👊🏽
Good to see you using the Presso again. They are difficult to find. What is the lightest mule jig you have been able to cast?
It’s not quite as good at casting the tiny stuff as a few of my other rods but it can technically handle down to the 1/80oz as long as you use low diameter line. The line is the biggest difference maker.
@@FishAnything okay good to know. I like 1/80 and 1/64 jig heads for my UL fishing. I have some Varivas braid in 0.6 Goh, so that is pretty thin I would say. What is a rod that can cast lighter than 1/80 you have used?
What length of the presso are you using? I’m looking into getting one, tight lines!
I’m using the 6’ model - it’s a great stick
Also... If you are married with four daughters and it's easier to sit down to pee, work trips are AWESOME!
Great land based fishing session, cheers from Australia 👍🏼
Tight lines! Thanks for watching 🤠
Great video and great fishing..!! Have a good day and week. Thank you for sharing.. beautiful day!!
Thank you!!
@@FishAnything your welcome
When will the mule bass bundle come back?
I’m working on the out of stock soft plastics and should be back in stock later this month.
Great video have you used the piscifun braided line
I have never tried that!
I hope you are there you should check out Schroon River
If I get back maybe I will!
Awesome outing brother!!💯💯🎣🎣🎣
Thanks Domingo!
@FishAnything your welcome 👍🏼
Great vid man just started a channel and absolutely love it
ultralight fluke?
Sounds like a good idea!
Rock-o's ftw!
Love me some rock-o’s 🤠
Go barbless
I plan to do a barbless video soon!
I'm going to say something unpopular. But I feel I need to say it. Ethan. I am very disappointed in you. You destroyed that rock basses jaw. Never, ever hit a hook to get it out. You are basically punching the fish in the mouth. Their jaws break easily. If a hook gets stuck, use a pair of needle nose pliers. Better yet, use those pliers and smash down that barb. You will not lose fish if you know how to fight a fish properly. And you don't harm them in the process. I know this idea is unpopular. But it should be the norm. But what is more important? Using a barb that might help you land 1 or 2 more fish in a year? Or the well-being of the fish? No one respects fish anymore. They are a living creature and should be treated with respect. I normally unsubscribe to people I see mistreating fish. But I have high hopes for you to do the right thing in the future. Remember a lot of people are watching you and learning from you. Consider doing it the right way to teach them the right way.
Yeah worries about belly flopping it after smashing it mouth, that being said it’ll probably still be fine, I’ve caught a lot of bass with broken jaws
I'm with you on this williamfriggle!
Yeah thought you meant first one but yeah didnt care for that
Thanks for the feedback, William! I am here to set a good example of what good catch and release practice is and unfortunately I wasn’t thinking by doing that in the moment. I will certainly keep this in mind as I fish in the future. Truly appreciate your support! Never hesitate to send feedback, it’s how we get better! I appreciate you doing so in a respectful manner.
@@FishAnything keep doing you man. I know you’re just being respectful, but we all know that social media gives people the feeling of needing to lecture people at the slightest inconvenience. You’ve been fishing since you were little. You know what you’re doing, you know barbs are fine for the kind of fishing you do.
Just keep doing what ur doing.
What is wrong wit your mic it sounds like you are far away
Rock bass are in invasive fish and actually damage the smallmouth population so don’t feel bad for dropping them into the water.
Really?? I would have expected them to be native to the area.
One of the better places in liberal ny. I can't wait to get out of this state
