Hey Celest, thanks for the reply, wow, wasn't expecting that! Not much improvement after two months, still a burning coal in base of spine, a hot electric wire across right hand buttock to hip, down the outside of the leg to branch out with claws into my upper calf. Sciatic nerve getting pinched basically. A lot of pain, a lot of discomfort, but I am getting better at coping, cutting out all flexion helps, have been swimming every day with a sauna afterwards, and have had a few massage sessions with a sports physio friend which has loosened off the area somewhat and brought all the off-balance tensions in the muscles back to a vague semblance of normal. Lots of time lying on belly on elbows provides some respite and the injury is teaching me to be still. Seem to have developed enormous compassion for anyone with pain! I haven't been doing yoga since I herniated a disc, this is the first video I watched deciding to come back. Im glad this came up for me, I loved the variation of moves, thank you!
I did this last night with all the grace and coordination of a newborn horse. I noticed that I struggled a lot with things like the crescent lunge and what you called the "modified warrior III," however the move that you said was difficult (around 9:36) wasn't as hard for me to do. I have herniated discs in my upper and lower back but I used to be more fit (tons of biking, boxing, running, etc), and I still have some of the muscular development I guess, so I don't fully understand my muscular deficiencies. Nowadays all I do is sit and lay down for the most part because even walking is painful. I am planning on redoing this tonight and continuing to practice it daily until I feel comfortable enough to move onto your other herniated disc videos.
Hey Celeste, this was my first day doing your routine for L4L5S1 disc bulge. It was diagnosed 18 months ago and iv bn living a restricted life since then. Tried many videos online but didnt feel good in my back after each session, so i stopped. Today, after your routine i feel good and im going to document each days progress here for a week. Until tomorrow!!
I just discovered you Celeste and I’m so glad I did! I have been doing yoga for 25 years and lately have been doing 3-5 minute forward folds for back traction and this is the first I’ve heard that it’s actually bad for my back. Thank you! I love your enthusiasm, passion and beauty and will definitely be back to try more of your other videos!🙏🏻❤️ Gene
this was a life saver, thanks Celeste, been doing this for 2 weeks almost every day , and now i don't need to take any pain killers anymore, this video rocks!
Omg you have saved my life! I have been in horrible pain several years because of a herniated disc and just doing this (or trying so not flexible or balanced) has helped the pain so much
This is exactly what I was looking for. I have a prolapsed disc, and you’re giving detail for reasoning behind every move. This is perfect because it explains the importance behind each one. Thank you!!
I was in bad pain and no relief and giving up up on future, was told about this and I was shocked how well it made me feel, no pain for hours. What I found out when you cross hand and push leg back, was easy enough on left side, right side I could not, i was to weak on that side. That was reason all these years I was pulling on disc. Now its getting stronger and I feel like a new man. That was my first ever to do yoga and I am hooked, thank you for this free video, I wish you the karma helping other returns back to you many times over. I am 45 still in Military and can able to hit gym again and not forced to retire,Thank you !
New thumbnail threw me off - I thought I had lost my favorite back pain video for a minute there 😅 I owe you a huge thank you for this video - it helped me come back from a severe disc herniation that had me thinking I would never be able to do yoga again, but now (thanks to these tips and some modifications) I am able to practice again 😊
I just LOVE your spirit! Thank you so much for this video. I have a bulging disk and just started seeing a chiropractor. Healing has begun and my pain is lessening. God bless you!

This is a fantastic video! Excellent teaching skills. I dont have a herniated disc but I do have an extremely tight back, so much so that it hurts with any type of forward flexion or deep twist--from years of having an over curved lumbar and multiple car accidents. This video really helped me. I have been through yoga teacher training myself but this issue has been holding me back from teaching. I cannot wait to get back into it! Thank you Celest!
Hey Celest, Thank you so much for these videos. I suffered an L5-S1 herniation a couple of years ago and It was not getting any better, despite doing the various exercises that my chiro recommended. After stumbling on to this video and doing these yoga poses almost daily, I have seen a huge reduction in pain and am well along the way on the road to recovery. Thank you so much for impacting lives in such a positive way :)
Awww this makes me so happy! What a wonderful message. Thank you for taking the time to write to me. It helps me realise that I need to keep making these videos. Remember I have two videos for people with a HD. So check it out x

Enjoying these three videos for herniated/slipped disc. I have clients with balance issues and osteo challenges, so I adapt this with using chairs to get up and off the floor, plus with a bit more balance support. Thank you dear!
I have been coming to this video for almost 8 years. I’m in the military and workout all the time at work on top of going to the gym on my own. Every so often I throw my back out and this video is literally my rehab. Even physical therapy didn’t have me feeling as good as this video does.

Hi celeste. Thanks for your video. I have tried many tutorials while suffering with a herniated disc, and yours is the only one where I feel the movements are actually achievable whilst I am healing. Other videos have tricky moves where I simply cannot get my body into the position. Feeling a lot better after trying this just once, and I look forward to practising this everyday, before moving onto your longer video. Thanks
This has helped me so much. I've only done it twice and can feel a difference immediately in my back. I have two herniated discs in my lower back. Thank you!!
I’ve been doing “yoga for lower back pain” and a lot of it involves rounding out your back which hurt me but I thought I was helping myself since they were the experts. This helped me out tremendously after one session hopefully with consistency I will feel almost nothing !!! 💜💜💜
Ahhh thank you, I've been suffering from piriformus syndrome for months. Been on prescription medication, physiotherapy, had to take time off work etc. This video is a huge help to recovery, as I'm finally at the point where I can gently start to work out again, but my physiotherapist does not want me doing any forward bends.
Thanks a lot for this video, there don't seem to be many specifically geared towards folks with a herniated disc. Any chance you'll do another one that's a bit longer & more involved (either here or on your site) for those of us a bit further along in our rehab who might have the capacity for a bit more, but still need to avoid any serious flexion?
this is a great yoga. I have scietica and severe back pain. I did this yoga three times and the pain went a way. I wasn't able to stand without help, but now I can stand and move with minor pain.
OMG!! thank you so much for telling me this. I love hearing from people like you and this message has made me feel valued and so happy i made this video. Please share it Nany! The more people that see it the more it will help them. Thank you!!!
This is great! I have 2 torn disks and this video is the only yoga class I found that doesn't make my back feel worst. Plus your so down to earth and super cute!
Started some basic yoga which I’ve been doing every morning this week gone. I have a herniated disc at L4-L5 since 2017 and also a bulging disc at the base of my neck. I will start this yoga this coming Monday for a week and see how I get on. So far the basic stuff I’ve been doing has helped somewhat so let’s take the next step and see how I get on. Glad I found this video 😊

Over 10 years with a herniated disc and every routine I've taken involved bending the back multiple times in difficult positions, I feel so relaxed with your routine because for once I don't feel bad for not following the proper routine or feel pain because Im trying to force it, thank you lots ❤
Hi Celest, I got a herniated disc about a month ago and the recovery has been very slow. After doing your video three days ago I cant believe the speed at which I am recovering, I'm almost back to normal! I can't thank you enough this video is spot on.
+Nicole Cushier This message means so so much to me! Thanks for taking the time to write to me. You're so lovely. Wishing you an even speedier recovery and sending lots of love xxx
Thank you for this! My orthopedic doctor said I needed to do yoga and pilates, so I did just the normal stuff and it was making my pain worse. This helps a lot though now that I know how to do it safely. It's really hard working out with a herniated disc because you're limited as to what you can do
Excellent advanced video for herniated disks. I have clients in too much pain to do some of this but they are exercises to work towards. Most of my clients who have herniated disks also have hips stuck in flexion. Exercises like these can help if done properly, without pain. However, the hip BONES need to be pushed forward. The easiest and most effective home remedy is exercises from the Hesch Method. If you are in the US, you may find a Hesch Method Practitioner who can help you. It won’t fix a pinched nerve, an inversion table can help relive pain (only for people with strong lints and ligaments that aren’t overly stretchy), but it will take the pressure of a sciatic nerve if you have false sciatica and it will fix hips stuck in flexion (happens from too much sitting and forward bending). Hips stuck in flexion cause herniated disks.
Celest! You're a DREAM. Thank you for making this video. I'm back in London next week and working at with lululemon at Kings Road, so I'll see you very soon! Xx
Hi Celeste, thanks so much for this video, it's great. I love the way you deliver it and really explain how to hold yourself etc. I still have pain but i feel bettter for doing this (I've done it daily for the last 4 days). When I'm stronger I can't wait to progress onto your other one. Thanks so much. Oh i really ❤❤ your home too xxx
The exercises you do all depend on preferential direction. These exercises are good for discs that are herniated outward but sometimes they herniate inward toward the centre of the body, in which case, these exercises would cause further pain. This happened to me so my physio gave me a bunch of exercises which flex the back outward.
Bless you, Celest! I've been in chronic pain for almost 15 years, I have a herniated disk that has domino-ed many other things out of place over time. I found this video last night and tried it, and I cannot believe how much it has already helped me. For years I've been doing yoga to try to help and was never getting better, the key element there was i was doing soooo many flections. From now on i will take your advice and keep my back in extension. What a difference it makes! Thank you so much, there are no words to express how good it feels to know there is something I can do about my situation after so many years of thinking I'd just have to live with this pain.
thank you celest :) this was very helpful for me, also i think you have a very nice personality and you seem like an ideal yoga instructor!! keep up the good work!!
Hi Celest!I’ve been doing your short version yoga class for herniated discs and really love it! I am about 10 months out from my original diagnosis with MRI of L5 herniated disc. I was still experiencing stiffness and some pain despite chiropractor care and physical therapy in the Spring. I’ve been doing this once a day for 3 weeks and want to start doing it twice a day. Would you recommend this? I attempted your 30 minute longer version but don’t feel strong enough yet. Thanks so much for putting this together!!! You’re awesome!
Just found this and im gonna do it together with my mom and i really hope it helps. She tripped in a small valley in our yard that was for water drainage and now a herneation is pushing on the nerve leading down to her leg and she is in immense pain. I want so much for her to feel better.
I love your videos , great teacher. Are you a fisioterapist as well? I have beenrecoverin from earnieted disk for 3 months . Love all your exercises, but my doctor said not to extend my arms over my head . What is your input? Grazie
Yes! I am a physiotherapist. Please explore any movement that does not increase your pain. But, explore them with appropriate levels of mobility so you are not compensating. After all, I have not assessed you in person so maybe you doctor said that for another underlying issue. Glad you liked all these exercises
Thank you so much. Please do an hour session for herniated discs and herniated discs for pregnancy. Love this it is really helping would really love more xxx

Thank you Celest. Getting me through disc episodes everytime. So grateful. xx
You are so welcome
I haven't been doing yoga since I herniated a disc, this is the first video I watched deciding to come back. Im glad this came up for me, I loved the variation of moves, thank you!
You're very welcome! keep me posted on your journey :)
I love it I have the same Bulge
I just discovered you Celeste and I’m so glad I did! I have been doing yoga for 25 years and lately have been doing 3-5 minute forward folds for back traction and this is the first I’ve heard that it’s actually bad for my back. Thank you! I love your enthusiasm, passion and beauty and will definitely be back to try more of your other videos!🙏🏻❤️ Gene
It's not always bad, it depends! Try view my two latest videos on this topic if you can xxx
this was a life saver, thanks Celeste, been doing this for 2 weeks almost every day , and now i don't need to take any pain killers anymore, this video rocks!
Wow that is incredible news. I'm so happy for you :)
Thank you!!
Thank you so much. Frankly speaking I was suffering from this pain 8 years ago till today. God bless you thanks a lot
Wow! So glad this helped your pain!
I want to say thank you ! I have been having back pain from my herniated disc for three days..
I found your video today and I feel so much better !
Glad it helped!
Love this. I’ve been struggling with finding a yoga routine that doesn’t end up making my disc pain worse. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for your love and coming back to this video. I love that it is helping you so much with your back
I just LOVE your spirit! Thank you so much for this video. I have a bulging disk and just started seeing a chiropractor. Healing has begun and my pain is lessening. God bless you!
How is it now?
@@zf1670 Thanks for asking! Mostly pain free although I have days where it's worse than others. Still doing cardio and weights. Learning to do more stretching. Helps a lot!
Hey Celest,
Thank you so much for these videos.
Hello, I see your comment is from 5 years ago. Curious if you were able to recover in the long run.
dealing with debilitating pain from bulging disc at 21yrs old and i've tried so many videos and other things to help the pain. i was ready to give up when i found this video- genuinely the ***only*** thing ive found that helps. i can go all day with nearly no pain after doing this 3x a day. thank you!
wow - that's such amazing feedback - thank you so much and so pleased it's helping you
Best video till now I watched on UA-cam.....thanku so much 💗💫
Enjoying these three videos for herniated/slipped disc. I have clients with balance issues and osteo challenges, so I adapt this with using chairs to get up and off the floor, plus with a bit more balance support. Thank you dear!
love your positivity, will definitely try this in the gym whilst watching you on my phone
Your an amazing teacher I've learned so much and you took the pain out of my disk recovery
I am so pleased to hear this ! Well done for taking action x
Not only are you a knowledgeable and detailed yoga instructor, you are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Christopher :) That means so much to me xx
I have been coming to this video for almost 8 years. I’m in the military and workout all the time at work on top of going to the gym on my own. Every so often I throw my back out and this video is literally my rehab. Even physical therapy didn’t have me feeling as good as this video does.
Thank you so much for sharing this with me. This means a lot
This is wonderful! I have a serious problem with two of my discs in my back and am in so much pain every day. I decided to take up yoga and this is perfect for me, it really helps me relax and I feel a lot better because of your video, thank you so much
Oh... my... God. Amazing! This stuff actually helps alleviate my back pains! The poses looked like they'd make my back hurt worse, but it was completely the opposite.
I thought that too. I was really afraid but I think it worked.
Thank you! I Was kinda of scared to do the workout because I have a herniated disk in my low back but after 2 workouts my back feels better and stronger . Thank you
thanks for this on youtube I had a a herniated disc l4 -l5 tear on the l5 Ive been working for a nearly a year doing this exercise and it help me alot thanks Mario form AUSTRALIA STILL DOING THIS EXERCISE in 2022
So glad to hear!
Mario, I am curious how the disks are doing? Trying to figure out if people can fully recover. And eventually go back to normal yoga routines.
Right then Celeste! Let’s be havin ya! It’s 6am and I just finished following this video and I feel great. Thank you for this 🙏🏽
See you again tomorrow morning 😊❤️
Ps. Love the cat 🐈
Aww thanks for joining and sharing your good energy :)
Thanks
YAY! Anna I made another one recently if you want something more challenging xx
Great yoga classes she makes it easy and fun
The best, its great and effective even if it looks soo simple we want more! Thank you Celeste !
This has helped me so much. I've only done it twice and can feel a difference immediately in my back. I have two herniated discs in my lower back. Thank you!!
Well done my darling x
@kristen2276 Did your herniated discs end up healing? I have 2 herniated discs in my lumbar as well.
I’ve been doing “yoga for lower back pain” and a lot of it involves rounding out your back which hurt me but I thought I was helping myself since they were the experts. This helped me out tremendously after one session hopefully with consistency I will feel almost nothing !!! 💜💜💜
Hope you're still feeling good Natalie x
Ahhh thank you, I've been suffering from piriformus syndrome for months. Been on prescription medication, physiotherapy, had to take time off work etc. This video is a huge help to recovery, as I'm finally at the point where I can gently start to work out again, but my physiotherapist does not want me doing any forward bends.
recovering after a back surgery that happened due to severe herniation. This is soooooo helpful! thank you!!!
I have more on my channel. Have you done them?
this is a great yoga.
Enrique Tims I actually still do this and some light walking. It has helped me
I do this exercises about 2 weeks and i'm feeling better than before these bad days. Thank you!! You can add and plank :) regards from Bulgaria
That sounds amazing. Thanks for sharing
I am so pleased you are taking positive steps x
@@AlbaYogaAcademy quick question when you have a minute - how many times a day do you recommend doing the routine? Is once in the morning enough?
@@jeetsohpal557 Yes once a day is huge dedication. Well done x
Thank you for this class!!
great energy, great video.i am for the first time in my life taking care of my self.yoga is a way for me to ease my back pain.its hard but it is exciting learning new ways of getting in shape
This is fantastic, thanks sooo much Celeste, I csnt wait to fo this, you’ve given me hope and motivation to get strong again. So much appreciated, thanks for taking the time to think of others ♥️♥️♥️
I love making videos for you guys :) x
Over 10 years with a herniated disc and every routine I've taken involved bending the back multiple times in difficult positions, I feel so relaxed with your routine because for once I don't feel bad for not following the proper routine or feel pain because Im trying to force it, thank you lots ❤
Thank you so much. It means a lot.
There are even more videos to support your herniated disc on my app
@@AlbaYogaAcademy Thank you! ☺
That’s really helpful. Thank you so much
You're welcome!
Thank you for this! My orthopedic doctor said I needed to do yoga and pilates, so I did just the normal stuff and it was making my pain worse. This helps a lot though now that I know how to do it safely. It's really hard working out with a herniated disc because you're limited as to what you can do
how's your pain after this session? You ok?
Celest Pereira Yoga
It makes the pain a lot lot better as long as I keep up with this. I especially like the brick part. Feels so good.
Thank you very much. I found your classes for herniated discs just in time! Your class provided relief for me quickly! You are very appreciated!
I am so excited to find your yoga series for herniated discs! I've been missing yoga since I bulged my disc several weeks ago. Thank you Thank you :)
This helped so much with pain associated with my herniated disc! Thank you for taking the time to make this video - it will be my new daily routine
Thank you for sharing
My pleasure
Thank you! I felt wonderful taking the first step under your guidance. Inspiring guide!
Celest! You're a DREAM. Thank you for making this video. I'm back in London next week and working at with lululemon at Kings Road, so I'll see you very soon! Xx
+Alicia Cifuentes Oh wow!!! Will you come to my class? Can we hangout? xxx
+Celest Pereira Yes! To all of the above! I'll search you on Facebook xxx
do it!!!!!
First time turning to yoga for my disc. Really enjoyed this, thank you!!
Hi! I have an annular tear but was wondering if this flow was good for si joint pain & sciatica also? Thank you!
I'm now going to make a conscious effort to keep my back in 'extension' at all times. Superb video :)
Oh i really ❤❤ your home too xxx
best treatment ever, I barely couldn´t move , and now nearly 2 hrs per day without pain.. hurray
Wow that is such amazing news! Please share my love! Maybe it can help more people x
I've been following this for a while now. So super helpful, just wanted to say! Thank you
The exercises you do all depend on preferential direction. These exercises are good for discs that are herniated outward but sometimes they herniate inward toward the centre of the body, in which case, these exercises would cause further pain. This happened to me so my physio gave me a bunch of exercises which flex the back outward.
Grant Hunt i think thats why its important to have an mri first
Good yoga class. Love your vibe!
Glad you enjoyed it
@@AlbaYogaAcademy my back did :)
I will be trying tomorrow. From reading the comments this appears to be what I have been looking for.!
Hey I didn't know i needed a brick at the end of the class!
Anyway, great class. Thank you.
thank you celest :) this was very helpful for me, also i think you have a very nice personality and you seem like an ideal yoga instructor!! keep up the good work!!
My back thanks you so much. THese asanas are amazing and my back hurts less after 15 minutes with you :)
I am so glad I came across your video.Thank you thank you millions 💕🙏🙏🙏
Hi Celest!I’ve been doing your short version yoga class for herniated discs and really love it! I am about 10 months out from my original diagnosis with MRI of L5 herniated disc. I was still experiencing stiffness and some pain despite chiropractor care and physical therapy in the Spring. I’ve been doing this once a day for 3 weeks and want to start doing it twice a day. Would you recommend this? I attempted your 30 minute longer version but don’t feel strong enough yet. Thanks so much for putting this together!!! You’re awesome!
my father suffers from slip disc and your video helped him ease the pain in first practise itself thank you so much !
Thank you so much! Doing this daily + your four week lessons I’ve healed my herniated disc. THANK YOU 💖
Is it true....
Hello Danays, did your herniated disc issue handle permanently? Were you able to go back to traditional yoga?
thank you so much for the video , i have L5 S1 and ihave been practicing yoga postures so wrong so far , i hope i get better by doing these exercises
Just found this and im gonna do it together with my mom and i really hope it helps. She tripped in a small valley in our yard that was for water drainage and now a herneation is pushing on the nerve leading down to her leg and she is in immense pain. I want so much for her to feel better.
Great video, any Suggestion if i get pain from reaching back in the "superman" pose, just stop doing it ?
Good demonstration and useful exercises...nice...
That was really good thank you. Would love a version with no background music.
Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to create this video. God bless
S.. Pls do 1 he classes for bulging disc during pregnancy separate for each trimesters if possible
This was a perfect class for my back! my chiro and p/t therapist would agree! Thank you so much. One tiny issue: the music. too mechanical. maybe something soothing like "hang drum" or ocean waves. :-)
Thanks for your feedback - glad you enjoyed the class.
Love the sequence
Thnaks for sharing, I have this problem amd I love doing yoga, so I was a bit lost because there are poses and movements that really hurt me, but this is a 10 outof 10
Wow thank you from the bottom of my heart
