FINALLY LESS PAIN! I was a very active, avid runner/hiker/kayaker/etc. until I over exerted myself and ended up having a herniated L5-S1 disc. I was in an enormous amount of pain every waking minute for almost a year. I couldn’t even walk one step or be sedentary without pain. I tried it all - two physical therapists, two chiropractors, two acupuncturists, ortho dr, one cortisone injection in my spine, TENS unit, nothing worked. I was getting very depressed thinking I would never be able to be active again. I was searching UA-cam for any help and found this video (I am not a yoga person, but was desperate). After the first time, I already felt a decrease in pain. I’ve only been doing the exercises for a few weeks, but I set an alarm every hour, do a couple reps of the exercises, walk around for a few minutes, and my pain has decreased by probably 70-80%. I am now walking 20-25 min daily, which has also helped my pain. You have changed my life, THANK YOU!
I am suffering from herniated disc from past 10 years . First doctors told it is rheumatoid arthritis but last month the told that it is bulged disc problem. As it became severe it had started affecting my head , now for a relief I am gonna start yoga , pls everyone pray for me , hope it will work

For me it worked, the pain is still there when i hyperextend my lower back BUT my lower back and hips aren't stiff and sitting isn't painful.
Look for poses that will work your Iliopsoas, and gluteus medium muscles.
Do it everyday for at least 10 min. Don't work through pain and don't force yourself.

Yoga is great for your back problem,but please no forward bends at all as they make your disc problem worse or can make the herniated disc return.

I have 3 herniated discs and canal stenosis amongst other things its pretty bad at times does it work? I've just been told they can't operate on the main injury now and I just want to get better

Just discovered this video after being diagnosed with lumbar disc degeneration. My doctors have said there is nothing they can do and it is now about pain management.
So this routine is a lifeline as I thought I could not longer do yoga. Thank you so much! After just doing the routine once I know this is something I need to do every day!

Thank you for acknowledging the the fact that forward flexion stretches are not good for herniated disks. as a therapist , i seem to spend a lot of time explaining to people that their Dr recommended stretches aren't the best

Exactly Rob! I can't believe how many routines are out there that have patents/participants bending forward and/or doing crunches. Ouch! Glad I found this channel.
It's all the forward bending that got me in this mess. My chiro actually said no forward bending. This yoga had been great.

This video was fantastic!!! Instantly made my herniated disc pain stop. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I will make myself do this at least 2 to 3 times a day since I have to do about 6 hours of sitting a day if not 10 hrs.
I’ve been following this video and one other daily. It’s been 5 weeks since I herniated a disc and 2.5 weeks since I added this routine to my healing process. My pain is reducing and I’m not in continuous pain all day anymore. Hopefully I’ll be fully healed soon. Thank you so much!!!

I'm definitely doing this one again, I've just done this and your beginners hatha and feel great, my back feels amazing, I have fibromyalgia as well as a lot of arthritis, herniated discs and spondylitis in my neck, but I don't feel so tight as I did, and I've not had to have any pain killers yet. I re-injured my lumbar 10 days ago. Thanks so much for this video! Ive been doing these exact postures with no effect. After following the gradual progression into same postures you performed in this vid it seemed to press my disk bulge back into place. Thank you again!
I hurt my back last September. The doctors wanted me to have a very expensive surjury to relieve the pain but instead I dealt with it and stretched and tried not to lift anything. I'm finally feeling better but I got too confident and tried to work out recently and reinjured it. The past week I've been following along with this video every morning and its helping a lot. I tried this to relieve my lower back pain from sitting improperly during long remote work hours. I found it after 9-10 days of trying other lower back yoga videos, with no relief. THIS WORKED after 3 nights of stretching. Thank you so much for sharing this, such a relief to alleviate pain.

I’m pretty sure you broke through my husbands depression. He slipped his disk last week and was out of work for Thursday and Friday. I’ve begged him to do yoga, as of today girl he’s been on a three day streak. Not only that but my butt is up at 4:30 working out with him lol thank you thank you thank you. He’s seen the light!!

Thank you so much for sharing this practice! I am almost back to my regular strength and ability levels after a back injury left me with a herniated disk. I was nervous to try this as only today I was able to walk normally again, but it was so gentle and helpful! I highly recommend this to anyone who is still experiencing some pain/numbness in your leg, but is looking for something to help strengthen your body and help with the healing. I did this practice after a short walk so my muscles were warmed up.

I actually had a trampoline accident over 12 years ago,I landed on my neck and shoulders and my back as never been the same,I was diagnosed with lumbar stenosis which is where the last 5 bones in my spine have been crushed together.
I get good days and bad days and sometimes unbearable days which does tell me something can be done to help the pain,doctors ain't interested and the chiropractor took alot of money from me just to give me 3 exercises to do saying I should be able to rebuild my back muscle and core strength to a good state again but it's never worked which in turn as led me write here seeking help.....thanks again for the nice work and any advice from you or anyone would be greatly appreciated ♥️🙏

I have had suspected lower disc problems for about three years. I started this routine about a week ago. It’s too early to say what the results will be but it definitely gives some relief immediately afterwards. I will update in due course. Thank you yoga lady .......

And such a pleasent and peaceful instructor to learn from! 😄 I somehow find it easier to breath out when I do the excercise and breath in when i go to the intial position, not sure where I got that idea from, possibly from some other yoga source. I wonder if that's important...

One thing to note at 9:58 is when going from lying on your back to sitting up, you want to roll to one side and gently push yourself up with your hands (rather than, say, doing more like a sit-up motion). I have been told by multiple physical therapists that it's the best way to protect the spine, and applies to when you are getting out of bed as well. Great video. I herniated a disc (doing forward folds in yoga!!!) a few years ago and am mostly recovered, but still need to do routines like this to stay strong or to loosen up when I get a twinge. It works! thank you.
YES to on how to sit up, that is absolutely correct.
I have a herniated disc too. Physiotherapy like TENSE, IFT aggravated my symptoms. Walking and lying down is okay but prolonged sitting makes me want to kill myself. It has affected everything in my life. Been like this for 6 months now. What recommendations would you have, if you don't mind sharing? Thanks :)
