I tried this and the neck extension/piano keys move made the base of my neck go POP - then felt a lot of release. Things have felt much better since. Thank you!
I’ve been going to PT for a herniated cervical disc for about a year now…I’ve grown frustrated at the lack of progress and was starting to doubt that I’ll ever get rid of the pain. I just stumbled on this video, did one session, and feel better than I have in over a year! Thank you for doing this, I’m excited to explore the rest of your content.
Thank you SO much ❤... I just had imaging which revealed herniated cervical discs. I am about to embark on a healing journey; this practice will definitely be a part of it!
Thank you! I spent 5 months getting worse daily. I've tried rollers and medications was considering surgery. I've been sick of going to bed and waking in pain. Until I followed this exercise yesterday. Today I woke up as free from pain as I've been since the beginning. Today when I the pain started to return today my son, he's 8 said do yoga!
I've been dealing with herniated cervical disc pain for a little over a week now and I wish I had searched for this video a lot sooner. You helped me target lower parts of my neck I was not getting with other videos. At night I'm waking up about every 1.5hrs with a lot of tightness and now I will know exactly what streatches to do. Thank you
I am having cervical disc herniation issue and pain going down both my arms since a year now. Your exercises in this video really help me cure the pain for sometime. I will continue the sessions. Thanks alot. You do make a difference ✨
Shiva Shiva Oh my goooodness 😭😭😭 Thank you SO much! This is literally the best information and tips I’ve been given in my 20 years of dealing with this issue. I cannot find the words to express my gratitude fully. Many many thanks to you!!🙏💙🙏💙🙏
I herniated 2 discs in my neck and have been dealing with on and off pain for 3 years. I research everything possible to get relief and those shoulder circles are a miracle
This has been sooo helpful! Thank you thank you thank you. I’d love more herniated disc content ❤ this has been a life saver. Better information than I’ve gotten from PT etc
Two days of pain from “sleeping” on an overnight flight and 10 minutes sitting here with you has almost completely alleviated it! This is why I always come back to you Celest! You’re the real deal
Thank you for an excellent video. Love the way you delivered it, very easy to follow. I've had pain in my neck for 6 months since being involved in an accident. Seems to be getting better since doing these exercises
Thank you SO MUCH! I really needed that! Been trying to recover from a whiplash accident with multiple herniated/bulging cervical amd lumbar discs and have developed much pain, stiffness and weakness.. great exercises that seemed to help even for a bit. I will keep up with them and hope they help long term!!
Thank you I have a herniated disc in my neck c2 and c5 you help me relieve alot of pressure since I can't even afford the co-pays for a chiropractor. Thank you again.
after 3+ weeks of trauma [ A3-A4 disk prolapse (MRI: to the right , with pressure to the sack, without spine imprint) from fall (back and left)], had severe pain episodes 3-4 times a day (neck and radicular chest and thoracic back) . Resting is good, but these exercises really stop my episodes and they diminish in frequency. I know it takes up to 8 weeks for 95% of such cases to heal , but I need to thank you for this video Celest. Only thing I feel and hear painless cervical bone/disc(?) micro adjustments while i do the rotating isometrics, a bit scary:) then I turn to side/front-back loading isometrics.
@@AlbaYogaAcademy vast improvement in combination to isometrics: doing since last month NECK TRACTION , vertically with 4-5kgr counterweights for a largish 6kg head (yours truly :) Manually I add a bit more while remaining in the comfort zone. Some seem to go up to 7-8kgr counterweights, anybody has some experience? Traction done 10mins 2ice a day , alone now too. Started with a spotter, my PT, starting alone or even worse doing alone traction horizontally is not a good idea!!! I would not feel safe during a horizontal traction unless I were in expert hands, NB neck is uncompressed already when relaxed, so forces must be well controlled and around 1-2Kgr (2-4 lbs).
This is wonderful as I have an injured neck and the nerves sonetimes get pinched. I do gua sha techniques with my cbd essential oil roll ons to help loosen the tenseness. I need to try these exercises.
My shoulder blades tend to want to flange out, my chest and backs of arms are also tight. I’ve been working on thoracic stretching as well as shoulder. Are there strengthening exercises that I can add in to help progress? I know stretching alone never fixes the issue without adding in strengthening exercises in a full ROM.
Thank you for the detailed video! It’s really helpful. One question - does neck flexion (looking down) stretches help with the cervical disc herniations? Looking down tends to aggravate my symptoms, but I’ve also noticed significant stiffness, so I wasn’t sure if I should be trying to do flexion stretches (carefully). Thank you!
A lot of the research indicates symptoms associated with herniations are actually neurological. This means that what you feel in certain poses may be highly individualized and different than someone else. Please back off or modify any poses that seem to exacerbate your symptoms, but that doesn't mean you should completely avoid them. Tune in and you'll find what's best for you!
Thank you so much for making this video! It helped alleviate so much pain for me!😩😌 my shoulders were making so much noise during most of this though which i just take as a sign I need to be doing all these movements more often!
Thank you so much Celest. Recently I've been feeling a lot of tension in my neck and this sequence helped me. Definitely I will doit on a regular basis. 😘😘😘
There's no research to suggest that you can't sleep on one side, however, it may be uncomfortable. Sleeping on the side that does not exacerbate symptoms may be most beneficial.
I get pain often in both my shoulders from a bulge in my c6. Any suggestions for me there. Also doing any bench presses or push ups is always painful for shoulders. I think it is related to the C6 issue. I think also my C7 has a slight bulge.
We have a video on cervical herniated disc. However, disc herniations are highly personal and I suggest that you seek advice from a physical therapist in person.
I tried this and the neck extension/piano keys move made the base of my neck go POP - then felt a lot of release. Things have felt much better since. Thank you!
thank you so much for taking the time to share this with me. It made my day hearing you are doing better :)

Any advice on which exercises to avoid or modify in usual yoga practise when I have herniated disks in the cervical area ?

How often do you recommend doing these? It felt so good I’d like to do a couple times a day but don’t want to over do it! 😅
yes! a couple of times a day is perfect.
Thank you for sharing very helpful video..
Could you please tell me can I sleep on my right or left shoulder with herinated neck disc. ?
