Yup. Last podcast on the left went Spotify exclusive a little while before jre moved there & it's kind of ruined both for me. I don't like the interface, it keeps deleting half played episodes (for me anyway) & I already have my podcast habits, none of which involves Spotify TLDR- I hate change P.S. am I the only one who can't "seamlessly switch between audio & video"
I was a strength athlete and competed against the Russians multiple times across several years. Many times I had conversations with them about this issue. It was explained it to me that they think of steroids the same way Americans think of multivitamins.
i remember competing at the junior world championships back in Portugal in 2015 and i was invited into the russians hotel room after the last day of races. i vividly remember walking into their room and there being a pill bottle on EVERY surface. the TV stand, the bedside table, the windowsill, the desk, the drawers. and there on the bed is a medal and that little bouquet of flowers they give to the medalists. i was 17 at the time and didn’t think too much of it, but now in retrospect i imagine those bottles were masking agents to hide a positive result if they were randomly selected for in-competition testing…

I think Girgory was either super corrupt or wanted the system to be exposed. The biggest problem with doping and cheating is that there will always be more money in helping people cheat, rather than catching cheaters.

A Scottish journalist several years ago showed you could pass the drug passport in sports easily. He got coached and trained to his peak as an amateur triathlete and then microdosed on PEDS, he performances increased so much he had to stop training with his group. He got his stuff from China, had it tested. He had a world leading drug tester on board and he passed the passport.

I have a hard time getting upset over doping in sport. Even if athletes are completely working within the rules it's still an endless cat and mouse game. Substance x is legal, athletes use substance x, substance x eventually is considered doping, athletes start using substance y which is similar, substance y eventually is considered doping, athletes start using substance z etc etc etc etc.
I've been saying for years that the Olympics should just be a doping competition, whoever makes the best drugs wins. That way we'll see both who the best athletes and the best scientists are, kill two birds with one stone so to say. And I bet it would look hell of a lot more interesting than it does.
