    Oh hey! That was me in game 1 in my purple ButterBee! That was a fun game!

    I've been playing quite a bit of laser vomit myself lately. One build I'm particularly enamored with is the grasshopper 5N or 5P with 2xLPL and 6xMLAS, STD engine 280-300 depending, and I usually strip the JJ for and extra DHS and some motor tonnage, and it ends up at about 1.2 heat efficiency which I feel is good. 5P has better quirks, and the build has some serious mid-range punch. IS FTW. I wanna see you build a GHR similar to this and daily dose it!!! PLEASE!!!

    great vid mate! something that's help me with my terminal case of trigger happiness is a 2nd set weapon groups in chain fire, you'll still be able to keep a steady rain of fire even with the heat penalty for having an xl side popped. When I lose a clan xl side hit override and switch to chain fire, still go op's and blow my self up, it's not for everyone but works for me.

  • @jensjensen7462
    @jensjensen7462 7 років тому

    I am near to that. 2 large pulse on the shoulder, 3 meds torso mounted and 4 smalls in the arms / 2 cool shots... works good 😊

  • @charlesskrobis5132
    @charlesskrobis5132 7 років тому

    Well done. I will question the whole losing the right side does not matter bit, cause I use that build. Cause first, all your heat sinks in your right torso and arm are gone. Next, because you have a clan XL engine with no other option, all heat sinks in the engine take a 40% hit to effectiveness. So while your alpha strike is about 50% normally at the start of the match, losing a side brings it up to about 75% or so, and now takes 15-20 seconds to cool down enough to do it again. So losing that side torso slows your damage significantly, and it's still good to torso twist as if it was an IS xl engine.

    My favorite timberwolf laser vommit build i have is 4x C-ERLL and 4x Pulse SML .
    Yeah heat management is down to 1.02 but i'm very good at keeping a solid burn at distances to strip armor and when i get close up one or two pulses they go down.

    This build can also be done with an all TBR-A omnipod setup. You lose the jump jets but you also lose the negative mobility quirks on the TBR-A left torso, which I find pretty significant. Also, losing your RT in the second game was actually a big deal because it dropped your heat efficiency by at least 40%, probably as much as 70%. That's why you died overheating. ;)

    • @Baradul
      @Baradul  7 років тому +1

      Yep. I figured that later. Losing all those heat sinks was significant :D

    • @JoshMD2009

      Hehe. And the biggest adjustment for me with piloting IS laser voms vs clan laser voms is that IS laser voms can actually brawl A BIT with 3 LPLs and some MLs on chain fire. For Clans, firing ERMLs in a brawl is a big no-no as 4 of them generate as much heat as 2 ERPPCs. :) Lessons learned. Otherwise, still a great video, Mr. Metal.

    • @kedar52
      @kedar52 7 років тому

      TBR-A is a better for that build. I was dyuing to see TBR video from Baradul. Great Job!

  • @DustinBKerensky97
    @DustinBKerensky97 7 років тому +1

    That's a problem with the clan laser builds. When you lose that torso you don't die but you lose half of your cooling along with it.

  • @liquidleopard4495

    I think "NASCAR" resulted from right-side weapons, not the other way around. As you may remember, a lot of those IS mechs have more hardpoints on the right, in keeping with the art from the tabletop game. I'm pretty sure the art from tabletop Battletech purposely made the mechs right-handed, like most of their designers and pilots.
    Clan mechs, when they're asymmetrical, are left-handed for the sake of being different.

  • @luxordeathbed
    @luxordeathbed 7 років тому

    I am messing around with a Nova prime in prime config. Just moving DHS to side torsos. Reminds me of this mech with 50% heat scale when firing its weapons, but just one arm. 42 dmg per arm. 84 dmg alpha that can be done twice and stay shutdown without blowing up. Actually works well for a "stock" config. Might want to do a vid on this. Requires fire discipline and hunting power.

  • @St.ClauZe
    @St.ClauZe 7 років тому +1

    Hell, how do u use it without chainfire??? Why u did't use it? Less total heat generation per weapon group shot is about 20-25%. If u don't need alpha - it's rly usefull.

  • @JujuShinobi
    @JujuShinobi 7 років тому +1

    I'm surprised people still use the TBR A torso because it's a gigantic SHOOT ME sign. That and the negative agility quirks on it make it horrendous to pilot the TBR

  • @kristokirov
    @kristokirov 7 років тому

    Yeah, I only play Clan mechs and you really have to be careful about overriding. You have to be ready to manually shut down as soon as it's safe if you go over the heat cap...

    Hey Baradul, love the videos and watch everyday! The one thing id love to see, and im sure lots of others would as well, is a video were you go through various mechs, explaining your thoughts on each and pros/cons of various load outs and builds relating to each mech. I know it would be alot of work doing that for all the mech chassis, but so many people value your insights and opinions of MWO that it would be worth your while! There are very few videos that Ive found that go through the various mechs explaining the pros and cons of each (snuggles time does the only good one) and we would love to see you produce a video or series of videos that would supply this fix! Either way continue the amazing work!

    I have the same build, but the low mount version, so each LPL in a side torso, that avoids the negative quirks, and I put 2 mediums in each arm, so I can peak both sides if neccessary, in 13:48 I could have hit that KGC with my build tho, anyway, good video

    Narc and Artillery\Air Strikes
    Idea for the Skill tree
    I think a really great idea is that if I call in an air strike or
    artillery then the strike should prioritize the Mechs that are "Narced"
    in that vicinity. I mean if I "Narced" a Mech and call in a strike it should have a much greater percent chance to hit.
    It would make the narc a much more useful weapon system to carry and
    provide a much better chance to actually do damage with to Mechs with an
    Air/Arti-Strikes.
    I never use Narc! But I would
    most defiantly out fit a light with one if I could carry three
    Arti-Strikes! Yeah that would be fun!

    Dang, _super_ hot build but big meaty 54-damage alphas out to mid range. Definitely a build you want to have some cover to hide behind to 'reload' between double-alphas.

    Could be 65% heat! *cough* supernova *cough* but anyways quick question XD is there a trick to torso twisting in the timber? I just can't seem to deal with the ST hit box's always trying to get themselves killed XD

    • @JoshMD2009
      @JoshMD2009 7 років тому

      I think the biggest thing is that a lot of pilots don't realize/care about the effect of the negative mobility quirks on the TBR-A LT. It hinders effective twisting and peeking quite a bit. Also, those ears do add quite a bit more of you to shoot at. A trick that works for me is to twist like a marauder or crab - just wiggle the nose a bit to spread damage.

  • @MegaduceFlare

    Yeah, once you lost your right side & consequently, the majority of your external heat sinks (which you NEED for a toasty build like this), you probably should've turned your Override Shutdown off.

    I bought the TimberWolf (Madcat dammit!) as my first mech and then realised I could have bought 3 or 4 IS mechs for the same price :(
    I like it though, swapped out the double peeps for double Lrg Pulses like Baradul here and popped some SRM 6's on there too

      You sacrifice 2 ER Mediums (or just 1 if you use Molten's build, but most people use 5 on the Timby) using the Hellbringer though, plus the mounts aren't as high. They both have their ups and downs imo.

    • @LukasSklenar
      @LukasSklenar 7 років тому

      Yes, and it is down to playstyle too. 5 ml on the timby runs too hot though - at least I am not good enough not to overheat with it ;-)

      +1 Good players know the weakness in a dead side build. I think I would definitely move at least 1 ERML to the right torso. Then again, I can't seem to spread damage like good ol' Baradul. BTW, nice playing against you on Terra Therma this morning in your KGC.

      I put 7 Heavy Medium Laser (or Extended? LoL I forgot...), 3 left Torso, 2 per arm, for pure brawling damage, and a Gauss on right torso
      It does an insane amount of damage. It's risky though with the Gauss on the Torso as it can explode and rip an arm off, but if you turn to shield with your left arm, you can avoid the hassle of ripping your mech in two because of a critical damage
