- If you ever wanted to play a Light Mech that feels like a Medium Mech take the Urbanmech UM-R60!
This little Urbie has so many additional armor hitpoints that it is really tough for the enemy to bring down. It has also a built-in cloaking device. You become irrelevant for the enemy team as long as you have your teammates around. In the meantime you can shoot your Medium Pulse Lasers and your Machine Guns to the components your buddies have opened for you. The damage potential may not seem overwhelmingly high but overall this is one of the best Urbanmech R-60 builds at the moment.

the 2mpl 4 mg build is what i have ALWAYS used ob my urbie. i regularly blow past 500 damage and have gotten 6 or 7 killing blows with 2 or 3 kmdd on multiple occasions, and i am by no means a great player. You are fucking invisible and therefore invincible. i ADORE that urbie.
"Don't underestimate machine guns!" yet on the stream a day or two before, when told to get this build, "Machine guns aren't everything!"

I don't see how both couldn't be true and acceptable at the same time. "Don't underestimate machine-guns" just says people don't expect so low of machine-guns. While "Machine guns aren't everything" would just mean Machine-guns are not the be-all-end-all really good.
Essentially, the two statements just denies the extremes.
But, you see, MGs ARE everything.

Baradul you need to revisit this Mech build, please!!! I tweaked this build and i'm running x4 HMG with the MPL's, max out the firepower and armor/structure tree. I never overheat and have 2 UAV's
I main urbies. Best mech in the game hands down. So excited for the hero K9.
I got my K9 and mounted a standard 180 with 4 med pulse and wow you can just zombie so effectively while being immune to backstabs.
Your computer. I'm jelly. You record 60fps with everything on high. What is your rig?
I run my R60 with STD for extra tanking, it goes 90kph with LPL+MPL+3xMG and max armor with max survival tree.
I hang out near mediums or heavies cause they tend to engage in close range with the reds more often.
After building the UM-R68(L) Murbie, I have come to enjoy the Mech. I love my R68L, I'm thinking of building a Drop Deck from one of the Urbie Varients.

I'm thoroughly convinced that the people who dislike these video's are the guys who get ate up by his MG's.

And I totally agree with your insights. I've been doing the 360 degree rotation to run and mess with other Lights that are harassing my Assaults. Also, people's comment on how useless the Urbie is in MWO because there is hardly any urban combat in the game don't realize that sticking with the Assaults and Heavies actually creates a pseudo-urban warfare environment. Except the buildings that the Urbie is hiding in/around are also shooting (and walking). And that's your "stealth" mode in an Urbie.
people started shooting urbanmechs after a couple of matches with my ac20urbie
5ulphur i played with b33f in a 34kph ac20 urbie on crimson strait. he sat on top of the tunnel and just shot everything that came out, got like 5 fucking kills.

Colin Martin The fun part is: with some armor stripping and a xl180 the urbie can run 97 w/o speedtweak and keep the ac20 with 28 shots iirc
I run 2 Large Lasers and 4MG personally, this seems a bit more logical due to the poor heat management of my current build though I'm not sure if I can use that much MG ammo x)
Might go back to my STD heatsink slot-perfect 2SL+1UAC5 because the urbie looks so damn sexy with a big gun.

If you want to up that urbies firepower build it with a lpl and a medium laser instead of the two mpl.

@@ctakitimu yes they start with a std engine 60 engine. But you can change that.

Machine guns have less DPS than a medium laser. They are super short ranged, ammo reliant and have an infinite duration so to speak. That means if u want to do as much damage with a machine gun as you would do with a medium laser, you would have to target the specific component all the time(!). They are good for critting. Nothing else.
I really don't want to bring down the gospel of MGs, they are fun weapons.
But looking at the fact that a lot of new players watch this, i have to say that this is pretty much all they are.

the thing with machine guns is that they dont generate any heat, and crit like bastards, once the armor is gun machine guns murder internals better than any other weapon.

I run this mech with 2 ERL or 2 LL and 4 machine guns
Two er large and 4 mg works much better. I've done many 1k+ damage games with mine.
So, this game is not true to Battletech rules then... For Light machine guns, damage and heat are 1D6 -1, Standards are 1D6, and Heavy are 1 D6 +1... While this is good to take out structure and to get critical rolls, it's not really worth shooting at a mech who's armor is intact. That's been my complaint with the new Battletech game from HBS; it looks like Battletech, but they tweaked and change SO MUCH of it, that it's just not Battletech anymore.
