Nice videos, everything is clear. I wanted to ask your opinion, so I have a Q 3.7 and I wanted to do an axle back just because I'm afraid I won't like the drone (never tried) if I do the muffler delete. How will the sound change if I add high flow cats on top of that? And would it be worth it as oppose to getting just a cat-back?
Thanks for checking out the video. High flow cats with an axle back exhaust won't be super loud at all. Probably not much louder than stock. The car will run fine with high flow cats but you won't see the full benefit from them unless you get a tune. But, that is ultimately your call.
Maghee McMullen Thanks. I really like the sound. But like I've warned other people, it does have some drone at highway speeds (approx 65mph). But if you dont do a lot of highway driving its quiet!
Just bought a 2010 G37s 6mt coupe. Love it. @2:23 when you turn you car off it makes a distinct "diesel" rattle sound. Mine makes that sound too. From what I've read its possibly some sort of clutch chatter, which I've heard is normal..... Any ideas on what it is?
Drone isn't really bad under 70mph at all. 70mph+ has a bit of drone and would probably get annoying on long drives. Luckily I don't have to drive on the highway everyday so its not an issue for me. If you do a lot of highway driving, I would probably avoid the high flow cats for now. Thanks!
I am looking to do a simple muffler delete as well, do you know if it is 2.25 or 2.5 diameter? I have a 2012 g37 sedan, seems to be debated on the forms I've read, looking to get tips asap to have this done :) as well would a larger diameter mean deeper? Thinking of doing 2.5 even if that means changing from the 2.25. any info would be appreciated!!
Hey man, I just got a 2012 G37, and I want it to sound like the coupe. I'm understanding that I don't need to change to high flow cats, Ivan just do the delete with the 2.25 pipes? Did it sound different after you installed the high flow cats compared to just deletes?
A muffler delete on both the coupe and the sedan sounds very similar. After I installed the high flow cats, the sound didn't change too much. A tiny bit louder and I found that it had more of the typical "VQ sound" compared to just the delete. Hope this helps!
I did a MPG video regarding the accuracy of the in-car calculator. Its hard to generalize average MPG though. Everyone's driving style is different and daily driving may be different style (highway vs city). I could say I get 22mpg average while someone else averages 19 due to different driving style. However, for the short time I've had the high flows installed, I didn't notice an increase or decrease overall. I would say it's stayed about the same. Technically, on highway trips it should be slightly better since there is less restriction overall.
Alex can you please confirm that you went with 2.25" piping from the resonator? What if i decided to unbolt at the axle back and run a 1.5 pipe all the way through from the flange keeping the stock pipping size after the res? It would probably not sound good. I want to make a reversible setup incase i want to revert to stock in the future.
Yes, I ran 2.25" tubing from the resonator back. It wouldn't sound much different at all with stock size tubing from the axle back. I just went with larger piping since I was getting the car tuned and figured it would help some. Either way, sound should be about the same.
Do you think it would sound nice using 2.5 piping all the way back? Or a little deep / not quite as loud? Any information appreciated! Looking to do just a muffler delete with piping back and some new tips :)
Hello, I have a 2012 G37 sedan, is it 2.25 after the resonator? I'm trying to grab some tips right now and it seems to be debated whether it's 2.25 or 2.5, I have the sedan and would appreciate any information. As well is it annoying when traveling at 65+? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!
If you don't want to cut yours off of your muffler than yes. But, most people cut them off the muffler and re-use them. I cut mine off of my old 350z exhaust.
geez 550 bucks. I got a muffler delete for 100 bucks. the shop I go to even let's me supervise their work. I'm about to install a gtr mid pipe and gtr tips going to cost me around 120
MigzPinoyGamer The muffler delete itself was only $290. And that was because I had the piping cut right after the resonator and enlarged since it tapers down really small on the sedan. If I just wanted the mufflers cut off it would have only been $150 or so. I want to do more custom exhaust work and make a true dual.
Still a bit pricier imo. The shop charged me 100 bucks for muffler delete but there was some little fabrication I wanted them to do. I got a GT-R mid pipe was quoted 120 to install it. The only thing I am worried about is the gt-r mid pipe is a lot shorter than our stock mid pipe. Their resonators are also very short compare to ours. The whole GT-R mid pipe sits tightly close to each other versus ours spread out more. The issue is the hangers that I'm going to face. The heat shield that surrounds our stock res dwarfs the gtr mid pipe lol. Are you part of any Infiniti fb group like g37 coupes and sedans? VQ Nations? G37 Driver?
MigzPinoyGamer Yea that sounds like good pricing. I want to make a custom y-pipe and connect to a magnaflow x muffler then reuse the whole back section. The bottleneck in the stock exhaust is where the y-pipe meets the mid pipe. I follow g37 sedans and coupes on fb. Used to be in the forums but dont go on there much anymore.
AlexKayRN my buddy just bought a q50 and he did a straight muffler delete on it. they have shorter resonators than ours. they have much more of a distinctive throatier sound on both low and high rpms what I use to hear on my old 350z DE and on other HR. seems like the VHR seems to be quieter imo. you mentioned yours sound better on high rpm? my exhaust seems to sound low on high rpm and only hear more of the engine than exhaust probably due to vvel. Do you have a fly by video of some sort at WOT? And yes I'm on there as well. I posted recently about gtr mid pipe on there but no one replied. Just suscribed btw. I see you have the hps silicone. I bought mines from cpz. wasn't a direct fit shame on them.
I find the VHR doesn't have as much of that distinct "VQ" sound as the DE and HR does. I have a wide open throttle pull in my other exhaust video for this car. I saw you posted, seems like no one liked the idea haha. My HPS hoses fit fine. Only thing I had to do was trim a little where the PCV hooked up but that was it.
hey, I'm new to your channel, but really enjoyed watching, keep it up! subscribed also, the car sounds awesome, although anything u can do to a vq sounds good
Thank you very much! Appreciate the support! Most exhausts sound pretty good but there are a few that can ruin the sound of the VQ. Thanks for watching!
The muffler delete itself didn't affect MPG. It may encourage you to rev the car out further to hear the sound but the muffler delete itself doesn't affect MPG.
I did mine a similar way with 2.25in tubing from the resonators. I may have lost slight low end till about 2500rpm, but after that the car felt how it always has. After my tune, I got some of that low end back and car feel awesome.
AlexKayRN I actually have a 2008 g35 sedan so am doing body kit next month but trying to get a recommended test pips to make it loud since I'm doing this in turbo some time this year love your car looks nice
Holy Crap. It's Nina's Twin. Same color, Same S model. Wow. It's rear for me to see another KAD color even more so with that spoiler. You must have a 2010. I'm just guessing. BTW I would like to link up with you to get some idea's as well as some help with Nina. Best part your not that far from me. I'm in PA. BTW love the way it sounds. I just might do the same thing, if I don't have the cat converter problem. Yeah I just noticed a rattle like something is loose when I rev or low idle. the dealer said 2k to fix it. to me that sounds like " New catback exhaust"
Stock mufflers also weigh a lot, especially on a luxury car I bet if nothng else you shave off a good 45-50lbs off the car. HF cats probably shave off an additional 10lbs.
Just the muffler delete really doesn't do anything for performance. Its basically just for sound. If you like the sound, I would go for it! Not very expensive at all.
Hi alex ! i have 2009 g37x sedan ! I feels like stock sound is little quite ! , I want to make same setup like your G ( Muffler delete ) When i go to muffler shop what i have to ask them to do? also how much is normal price they charge for this work?
Jay Tell them you want your mufflers cut off and replaced with straight pipe with your stock tips. It's not expensive at all so don't do it if they give you a bs price.
MyTrangBoiii Hi man thankyou for advice ! i just went to mufflershop , they ask me 185-200 for my car i thought its like 120-140 range .. I m indy i never do this kind of work before.. is there any way i can get cheaper than 180-200 price people told me they done for like 100
Jay I would suggest trying a different muffler shop just to compare prices. Honestly the price they gave you isn't too bad. I'm sure it's just them getting their labor cost. Still better than paying $500+ for aftermarket exhaust.
Hi Alex, love your ride bro and it sounded amazing. I have a Q50 sedan and I want to do the same thing. So do I tell the shop that I want my mufflers cut off and replaced with straight pipe with your stock tips?
I also did the muffler delete and I love the sound.Great vid! I will be following your process it's awesome to see you documenting this.
TeVan Grant thanks I appreciate it. Much more to come!
great vid bro, i see this channel blowing up! glad to be here from the beginning!
Pedro Arias thanks for the kind words! Its people like you that keep the channel growing. Thanks for watching!
The infiniti sounds pretty good stock.
I need to know you got those miles per gallon like that 20-40 what's the secret mine does like 14
Eddy Diaz frfr
Lol facts though
Tru AF
sounds good i can't wait to do mine i'm a proud owner of a g 37
and i love it thanks for the video..
I like the sound of your G37. Question, so basically you just deleted the mufflers and kept the resonator thats it?
Nice videos, everything is clear. I wanted to ask your opinion, so I have a Q 3.7 and I wanted to do an axle back just because I'm afraid I won't like the drone (never tried) if I do the muffler delete. sounded great. I've been looking for something modest at low rpms but aggressive at higher rpms
Maghee McMullen Thanks. I really like the sound. But like I've warned other people, it does have some drone at highway speeds (approx 65mph). But if you dont do a lot of highway driving its quiet!
So muffler delete and high flow cats that’s it ? Sounds amazing
Yup, that's all it was at the time.
Did it interrupt the power of the car??
Sounds fantastic!
Carl Harvey thank you! I'm pleased with it.
Is the only way to get exhaust tips on after a muffler delete is weld?
Just bought a 2010 G37s 6mt coupe. Love it. @2:23 when you turn you car off it makes a distinct "diesel" rattle sound. Mine makes that sound too. From what I've read its possibly some sort of clutch chatter, which I've heard is normal.....
Any ideas on what it is?
Sounds nice 👍🏼 I just have the muffler delete on mine. Sounds similar, just a little quieter and deeper.
Ammar Dardari thanks! This is with the high flows as well so its a tad bit louder but I like the sound! Thanks for watching.
AlexKayRN do you get exhaust drone on highways? I was planning to do high flow cats but hesitant bc of drone
Drone isn't really bad under 70mph at all. 70mph+ has a bit of drone and would probably get annoying on long drives. Luckily I don't have to drive on the highway everyday so its not an issue for me. If you do a lot of highway driving, I would probably avoid the high flow cats for now. Thanks!

Def a fan of the pipes
How u get that 40 miles freeway and 20 in at 19 regular 24 highway
That video was a long time ago lol. I may have just reset the mileage calculator. The best I see now is about 23 on the highway.
Did you lose any low end torque?
I did
Hap Howell any high end torque?
No just low end
So it's 290 bucks the mufler delete? then you go pay 550 fo installation?
Nice video man, love the sound of it.
Thanks a lot!
sounds great! even if you didn't gain power you definitely got rid of some restriction which is definitely good!
Pedro Arias thanks a lot. I figured why not try it. Really cant hurt anything. Any low end loss should be restored with the tune. Guess we'll see!
Did it feel sluggish with the bigger pipe after the resonators. I would think deleting the muffler would gain power since its a straight shot now
Post about the mpg. Have always been interested about mpg with high flow cats 👍🏻
I did a MPG video regarding the accuracy of the in-car calculator. Its hard to generalize average MPG though. Sounds like you, have a hole in your muffler and can't afford to fix, just kidding sounds great!
Hello, I have a 2012 G37 sedan, is it 2.25 after the resonator? Hey man, I have a 2012 G37 Sedan as well. Such an amazing car. Did you delete the muffler and if so did you lose any low end torque?
Do I need to buy new tips so I can straight pipe my g?
If you don't want to cut yours off of your muffler than yes. But, most people cut them off the muffler and re-use them. I cut mine off of my old 350z exhaust.

What percent tint do you have on your car?
I have 15% all around, nothing on the windshield.
bro I got some 4 inch tips coming in to do a muffler delete, do you recommend since you been driving like that for a while..?
Personally, I would recommend it. It's a cheap way to get your car a little louder but doesn't sound like rice.
i would definitely do this but i definitely dont want unwanted attention when im doing my pulls lol
OfficialVanDyce haha yea it will def get you more attention. I'm waiting to see the flashing lights behind me!
does this affect gas mileage??
The muffler delete itself didn't affect MPG. It may encourage you to rev the car out further to hear the sound but the muffler delete itself doesn't affect MPG.
AlexKayRN oh ok thanks how about performance I heard ppl saying u loose back pressure which. makes the car slower
AlexKayRN cuz I did my muffler delete different which a 2.5 pipe all the way from the resonator
I did mine a similar way with 2.25in tubing from the resonators. I may have lost slight low end till about 2500rpm, but after that the car felt how it always has. After my tune, I got some of that low end back and car feel awesome.
AlexKayRN did u put straight pipe or just muffler delete
I like yur channel buddy. Keep up the great work.
what high flow cats you had installed
anthony mendoza Mine are Stillens.
AlexKayRN I actually have a 2008 g35 sedan so am doing body kit next month but trying to get a recommended test pips to make it loud since I'm doing this in turbo some time this year love your car looks nice
Sounds great. Which HFC's did you use?
Thanks! These are Stillens.
it's sound good. I did my G too. if you make new somethings on your G. and you can upload more, please. Thanks
MN Mn Thanks man! Trying to upload as frequent as possible.

Its a 2013. Lots in this color floating around. I'm moving to florida so unfortunately won't be in the area much longer. Go for the new cat back!
Stock mufflers also weigh a lot, especially on a luxury car I bet if nothng else you shave off a good 45-50lbs off the car. HF cats probably shave off an additional 10lbs.

Hey Alex, I have G37xS sedan so its the auto. In your opinion is the muffler delete worth it on the auto?
Just the muffler delete really doesn't do anything for performance. Its basically just for sound. If you like the sound, I would go for it! Not very expensive at all.
oh yeah I could care less for performance more to get that VQ sound that the coupe has normally. Thanks
Yea, it gives a nice sound for sure. I would recommend it if you just want some extra sound!
Nice 👍
Hi alex ! i have 2009 g37x sedan !

Jay if you just do muffler delete it will cost you $$40-60 and if u install straight pipe $180
I have no idea why people get muffler deletes besides the fact it’s way cheaper than an actual exhaust
Its called....SOUND!
I'm diging those g35 rims
Ali Ibarra Thanks!
what percent tints did you get.
I got 15% front and back.
any tickets yet? I got talked out of doing 15% all around.
Sayaan Saiyed Between my Z and my G i've gotten maybe 3 tickets over 7 years. Not enough to justify not doing it.
Damn! Sounds like an F1 car lol
TundraDude34 hahaha I wish! The Z is the F1 car lol.
TundraDude34 i dont think u have ever heard an F1 car before
the throttle response on these cars are fucking so shitty. I have a g37 and I wont even drive that pos because its so stupid drive by wire throttle.
what wheels are those?
Pharoh Mathis g35 coupe
sounds fantastic!
Thank you!
