Just discovered this amazing creature and now I want one! Looked into the mechanism of his punch. The way it works isn't that unfamiliar to us actually. We do it too. Think of the way you would Flick a Finger to smash something with your nail. Except that he has a much thicker layer of chitin where you have your nail. But it certainly gives you the idea of Speed and Energy that can be exerted like that! Amazing!
I prefer the look of the green Mantis shrimp. If you like the shrimp check out the Pistol shrimp. Also check out a programme called Animal Fight club which used to show on Spike channel. Informative with a witty voiceover.😀
A beautiful Mantis Shrimp but a brave Damsel fish. I thought the Mantis was throwing out the remains of the Shell fish but it put it outside which made the Damsel fish think there was leftovers and it was hungry enough to risk trying to grab what had been left out. Then the Mantis Shrimp came back for the rest. Strangely, the Mantis Shrimp is not interested in the Damsel fish. Amazing!😀
Do ever do live feedings? Crayfish and such? I haven’t setup my tank yet but I’m looking to get into the hobby. My only concern is how messy they can be with eating. Especially with live food of course.
I do feed live food for a treat every now and then, however live crayfish are pretty hard to get hold of here. I do have one live feed video of Bruce taking on a shore crab that you can see here ua-cam.com/video/hJv0MRePCG8/v-deo.html. I have also just got him a surprise snack for his birthday and hope to have the video up for that next week.
hello sir! I was wondering, why does bruce not attack his roommates( the other life in the tank)? or does he. I have been looking at videos on how to start a saltwater aquarium for a mantis shrimp and a lot tell me often that mantis shrimp often punch and eat the other fish and or live in the tank?. I'm just curious and looking on how to get started! I hope I can find enough and the right information to do this correctly the first time :)
Hi and thanks for watching. There is not really an easy answer to your question. There is certainly a risk to any creature you keep with a mantis shrimp however with care and caution it is possible for them to have roomates. I am planning to do a full video on Bruce's tankmates soon where I will go through the various criters that live and have lived with Bruce saying why I chose them and how succesful it has been so keep an eye out or that.
Great video. Dont stop
That blue fish just doesn't realize it's swimming in the tank with the Freddy Kruger of the sea 😳

Glad you enjoyed it! They are amazing creatures, between their eyes and their punch there really is nothing quite like Bruce the mantis shrimp!
I read the energy of the lunch is about 160 ft/lbs. That's like a very high energy .22or rifle........ Except not made of lead.
I love how deep blue it is. Rocky has a lot more green in his shell
Most do seem to be either a green or brownish shell, I haven't seen another one like Bruce!

@@philiposedumme6648 i have a tiger pistol shrimp😁
Snap! I've got a tiger pistol paired with a pink spot goby in my big reef tank

Thanks for the comment! Yes they are an odd pair and Bruce is very tolerant of the Damsel but I always wonder if that may change one day.
Awesome video. The fish are frozen correct? Like silversides or something? And the cockles are frozen too?
Your absolutely correct, the fish and cockles both come frozen. Thanks for watching!
Are they really that smart? Did it really bait in that fish? If it did that’s amazing
Can you get baby clams from the store? im Not sure if they can Have parasites
Parasites are a risk but I have definitely frozen mussels from the store in the past
What do you need to have a Peacock Mantis Shrimp?
Tank and Equipment wise?
You can see a list of the tank and equipment in my video detailing his upgrade ua-cam.com/video/3Mh08w4iYE4/v-deo.html

@@KungFuShrimp alright, thanks for the reply sir! I'm looking forward to further video's💯
Cool
Thanks
do not eat fish?
Not so far
The blue damsel fish looks like it has a crabby expression on its face. That's silly.
Wow, the damselfish is flirting with death. I'm amazed Bruce has shown no hostility towards him.
You may be more right than you know!
It's fun to cut the clubs off a mantis shrimp so it's virtually defenseless and then watch it suffer as a group of puffer fish devour it lol.
Harsh! at least leave it its clubs to defend itself!
I just feed crayfish to both puffers and mantis shrimp. So i can enjoy 10 different puffers and a mantis shrimp showing their hunting skills
uhh...
