Keith, I know you know this. You are so appreciated. Really enjoy watching your videos. Better than anything on cable tv. Bless you and your family. Have a good night.
Oh, dang. A Chevy Traverse. Dump that crap fast. My brother-in-law has a friend that use to work on those all day long at a Chevy dealer. He was low man for 2-3 years and so they stuck him with all the "fun" jobs. He can't even remember how many transmissions on less than 3 year old Traverses he replaced. He quit that job and is now working for a heavy equipment place and is much happier. He's dang good at Cummins engine work as well.
I dont have those problems with my 78 3/4 ton chevy...lol...a true pleasure 2 watch you work..thank you. I hate new cars, how silly is that to keep your car from starting . Just another way to get in your wallet..
Real fine system automakers have created. And everyone wonders why I love cars built before 1996 ... This was GREAT, Keith! Learned alot on this one. It really isn't as complicated as my mind makes it out to be, once you isolate and test each leg like you did. Of course, the right tools make all the difference too - I'm still working on that part of it. 😊 LOVED the vid - THANK YOU!👍
Sir, our 2015 is at the dealer currently with the exact symptoms as in the video. The dealer has called me twice today, and asked what I saw and did...Service writer stated they dont have communication with the ECU and are calling GM for advice...Tire air system low light indicator on, Air bag Service light on, key fog doesnt work, dash lights out, no volts shown on the gauge, when turning the key to on/start... Thank you for being a true professional in the industry!!
Just ran into this today I was dumb founded and was about to send it to the dealership. I used this as a reference point following your step with a multimeter and found the climate control also was the issue. No start,no communication,no radio,no hvac,no gauges working intermittently, and inop key fob. Thanks for the info sure was a lot of help.
Keith you never cease to amaze.me. I gotta tell ya, you make it look so easy. If I had all the toys you have in your toybox, I might eventually fiigure it out but the customer probably would want their car back within a couple of months.
I love videos like this. You are excellent at what you do. A friend of mine called me on an 08 Acadia that I cant communicate with the engine ecm or hatch module. Has loss of communication codes stored. I bought a pico scope and want to use it. You have had multiple videos using that GM low CAN plug with the jumper connector. I think that is super useful to know to "separate" the circuits and narrow down a problem. I understand why your stuff is quick and to the point but man it would be awesome to learn it all. Then again i know experience is key. I work on heavy construction equipment and not automotive so seeing you and select others on UA-cam helps a lot.
Everything u put out is fun. Holy jesus that takes real skills. Thanx Keith. So that otc one u like better because of the LEDs? So get that one better than the aeswave u suggest? Is it cheaper? Thank u
Thanks for sharing the great video Keith. It's always great to see the way you pick the systems apart and make it easier to understand. I've been thinking about getting the OTC BOB since I don't have one yet
Well that was just bloody brilliant, yes wiring diagrams are needed but, that was impressive, Its just your total understanding of the systems your working on, that's so awesome when I watch you working. if theirs no one about, just give yourself a pat on the back from me, cheers buddy and thanks again for sharing excellent video
Nice work Keith im just at an awwwwww ...this just blew me away doctor i am going to watch this several more times so i can catch up...lol.. Thank u man
Don't go into this without a wiring diagram he says :-) . The most important thing here by fair your brain. Thank you for letting us in on how it works .
Good video Keith! The OTC BOB works great with the flashing LED's. Makes it easier to see if you have com on a network. Splice packs cut diag time down as well.Especially when they are at an easy access point.
That's the problem with today's cars. I know they are trying to save wires. But a HVAC module shouldn't stop the car from starting. Didn't think the low speed LAN would keep the car from starting, only the high speed. Thanks for making this informative video.
Great demonstration of the process you go through, and how you decide to choose 1 route over another. It's certainly enlightening to watch. I can't wait to utilize all this new knowledge on cases. It's not too often I come across this intricate of a diag.
This makes it clear why Honda/Acura for example use a F-CAN network for their powertrain, drivetrain, brake/abs modules for fast bus-data and a separate B-CAN network for the rest of the body related modules; hvac, audio, door locks, windows, seats etc. Wait why am I comparing GM to Honda
Thank God they at least give you an accessible splice pack :) Imagine telling the customer "your HVAC module was causing a no-start"...wow. Beautiful diagnosis Keith!
Just watched this video again Keith like you told me. One question though why is there no activity on pin 2 that goes to the other splice pack. With all the modules that are on it I wouldn't expect a zero flatline.
How does the scan tool communicate with the radio, for example, when you have the junction connector jumper removed? Doesn't that isolate all the modules?
Thats was an awesome video keith. My question to u is. I have a shop behind my house with 3 bays just 1 lift right now and im doing quite a bit of automotive stuff on the side of my full time job. I have been using all data diy up to this point when i need diagrams but i would love to get your view on info platforms. If u had to have 1 in my type of situation where diag is obviosly a part of what i do but also lots of repairs. Rusty ones cause up in northern ny utica area. Lol. Just wanted your valued opinion on what would be the best for my money
Is this similar to VW and their K line? I have a 2004 Touareg with zero activity on the CAN lines and I'm now reading that it actually uses the K line for comms and not really CAN. The CAN lines from DLC connector to Instrument cluster (gateway) actually shows infinite resistance and I called a cluster because of that, no shorts of opens in the lines. 60 ohms on the CAN line coming out of the cluster but no activity. It's almost the exact same symptoms as this. I already unplugged all modules apart from airbag and HVAC which I need a special tool for. Powers and grounds are good.
i had one of these last spring that was the issue, ended up finding that the terminal next to the data line is either power or ground and had bad contact melting the connector causing the fault. had to get a new module then build a new connector since a pig tail isn't available
hey im trying to diagnosse a u0073 on a 07 equinox i have communication with the low speed modules nothing on the high speed side ive checked resistance in 6 and 14 getting a 5.27 mega ohms no crank no start trying to figure out how to gain communication again any help you be greatly appreciated its been driving me nuts! thank you so much !
When I grow up I want to be like Keith. Absolutely amazing Keith!!
Keith, I know you know this. You are so appreciated. Really enjoy watching your videos. Better than anything on cable tv. Bless you and your family. Have a good night.
If there was a electrical diagnostics hall of fame you would absolutely be in it

Huge pleasure to watch you work!
Watching you fix these network problems always makes my weekend Kieth!

Just spent 12 hrs on a Cadillac getting nowhere, you just have given me the correct starting place. Thanks

Very good information Keith, made it looks so simple. You're good but your son will be better. God bless you both.

Well time spent watching this kind of videos. Thanks Keith. Greetings from Dubai UAE.
I really enjoyed that, Keith. You are one smart man.
Wow! Keith, excellent diagnostic, keep them coming!

Marc Berger machines are machines. Hopefully this will help you down the line somehow. Thanks for watching
Holy hell. If I hadn't seen it I probably wouldn't have believed it. No start due to climate control module. Unreal. Awesome diag Keith. Thanks!
My pleasure! I was happy it was something fun to share for once
Everything u put out is fun. Holy jesus that takes real skills. Thanx Keith. So that otc one u like better because of the LEDs? So get that one better than the aeswave u suggest? Is it cheaper? Thank u
Jason Chavez hell no. Can’t be...
Very interesting Keith and as always you make it look easy peasy.

Very good!
Just shows how fragile cars are nowadays...
Great video, thank you for sharing!
Nice to see you here! You and Keith never disappoint!!

Love watching your work Keith. I must be learning I just answered my own question before typing it here and looking like a bozo Lol
Awesome vid.! Man you inspire me to continue learning about can network.
This is just amazing! Amazing brother ❤
Awesome video cant say I've ran across this failure on a traverse or Acadia great find!!
Keith you are the best...
Great job again like always
Awesome as always
Thanks Mike , now where is your video?😉
great job as always
Great demonstration of the process you go through, and how you decide to choose 1 route over another. It's certainly enlightening to watch. I can't wait to utilize all this new knowledge on cases. It's not too often I come across this intricate of a diag.
Cuba Rodriguez well when you are ready to take a ride along with me for a day , you'll see plenty more of these diags. Glad you enjoyed this one🙂
Dang...Good one to know about.!! Thanks Keith. 😉😀
Great job thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching Miguel. You could've done this in your sleep.
If someone told me defective HVAC controls caused a no start condition, I'd laugh at them. Joke would be on me! Thanks, Keith!
thanks for the effort of sharing it
I know you don't have much time so I do appreciate your longer video's

ooh a new GM with CAN problems? Classic ;)
Thank God they at least give you an accessible splice pack :) Imagine telling the customer "your HVAC module was causing a no-start"...wow. Beautiful diagnosis Keith!

Can you test for this with just a volt meter? My car shut off while driving after the dash light up and radio shut off.
I've got the same break out box but there is another brand on it. Nice wiring diagrams any good for Euros? Great work Keith i Really enjoyed this one!
DiagnoseDan not too shabby on the European cars. But as always we have some different engines here as well. Glad you liked it
Great video! Just like the Diagnose Dan video on a BMW not starting because of a short circuited door handle, man this engineers!
If you look , we both had door handle no start
@@NewLevelAuto Interesting! I'll look it up!
Never disappoints, i wish every car had splice packs. Great share Keith. But u lost the race 🏁🤣
Hey Keith do you have the other style breakout box ?
Gateway I believe..
hey im trying to diagnosse a u0073 on a 07 equinox i have communication with the low speed modules nothing on the high speed side ive checked resistance in 6 and 14 getting a 5.27 mega ohms no crank no start trying to figure out how to gain communication again any help you be greatly appreciated its been driving me nuts! thank you so much !
im having this issue with traverse. how much does this usually cost to fix
So JX205 is purely testing connector ?
If manufacturers would stop making modules that would crap out and take down the whole data bus, that would be great..
Why does it read 0 volts when jumping pin 2 Keith.
EXCELLENT
Do you know where is the other bus bar located?
Unbelievable 😱
Amazing
Wow your a MONSTER 😁👍
🦡
So why was the wave form looking that way...ur vidios r kool 👍
God blessed you
Very informative Keith. Thanks for showing the OTC Tool. Is that similar to the AESwave tool? 👍
Similar , but this has the built in voltmeter display and LEDs on every pin.
