Anthony Jeselnik in Conversation with Colin Quinn: Fire in the Maternity Ward

- Опубліковано 11 лип 2019
- Plumb the depths of Anthony Jeselnik’s twisted humor as the comedian talks about his new Netflix special Fire in the Maternity Ward with funny man Colin Quinn.
They’ll cover roasting, political correctness, crossing moral lines and getting away with it-as well as Jeselnik’s new projects like Good Talk, The Jeselnik & Rosenthal Vanity Project Podcast-and the path that led him to where he is today-“the Satanic prince of stand-up, a black-hearted joke-slinger with a ferocious and unstoppable will to power” (-Nathan Rabin, Head Writer, A.V. Club).

*medieval restaurant-waiter not medieval-restaurant waiter. There are no medieval restaurants you fool xD
Fuuuuuuuuuuu, I don’t know why that is so funny, I’m in tears doubled over. Even from the afterlife Patrice is kinging it.

Anthony's greatest accomplishment is understanding Colin's questions.
this made me ugly laugh lol
Worse job selection for Colin is interviewer. Painful to watch in some spots
What?
He didn't, though, he responded to almost every question with an answer he already had in mind.
Colin Quinn's cadence is like that of a retired heavyweight boxer
Probably because he's an active heavyweight drinker

Anthony Jeselnik is the master of misdirection and leading you to laugh at what would normally sicken or disgust you. 🤣
Well-said.
First of all Colin! Sitting there... you're not Orson Welles.

Jeselnik is truly a comedian, he is as good as it gets on pure jokes.
I’m not hip to him, can you recommend a good showing of him?

I used to crack up watching Tough Crowd, knowing damn well he was gonna stutter and step on his tagline. Every goddamn time, but he's still funny as hell.
Lololol
So fucking true. He unfortunately drank himself beyond the point of no return early on. But it was his drinking that got him to do standup ironically.

I liked Jeselnik from the first time I saw him. He has gotten better over the years. Colin Quinn is always great.
This was PURE, smart entertainment. I really appreciated this.
Well, one half was smart, at least.
Anthony Jeselnik...my hero for about 10 years now...LOVE HIM!
Colin Quinn is a national treasure
Correction, an international treasure. I adore him. I'm not American.
Why would you insult him as a bad Nicholas Cage movie?! And why that 1 when there are so many to choose from? Colin Quinn is Peggy Sue Got Married (last 1 I saw, Cage, like Cruise, is unwatchable)?
But 9/11 WAS a national tragedy.
Collin Quinn is bore torturous to listen to
Eh, regional.
Jeselnik is one of the greatest alive. His latest special is a Must See.
Two of the funniest dudes around...cool to see the respect Anthony has for Ol Col...
His In Bed With Joan was great partly for that same reason, sadly it seems to have vanished. Like Joan.
LOVE this guy.. onwards and upwards my good man. Love, UK
Love Anthony. Only discovered him about a year ago, so I've been binging.
You wish you could bing him.
His beautiful face belies his stark humor style, and his timing is spot on. Very professional yet edgy.
Jeselnik is one of my favorite comedians lately. And of cour cq is a legend. Lots of mutual respect here.
This is the example of kids nowadays…. He’s your “favorite” but you can’t spell his name.
love these guys glad this came up in my suggested, youtube got it right once
Immediately started smiling when I read the title. Jeselnik has become one of my favorite comedians and Quinn did one of my favorite specials of all time, Long Story Short. Really enjoyed this.
He's in my top 5 for sure. Listen to his podcast. It's hilarious
i remember waiting to see him on the next comedy central roast like 9 years ago because his sets were straight murda. He's been consistent since that mainstream exposure ever since.
@Vorta Maj Colin's new one, "Red State, Blue State" is pretty good too.
If you haven't listened to Jeselnik's podcasts, the defunct RJVP and the more recent JRVP, they are amazing, especially because content constraints don't seem to be an obstacle for him at all, "If I can't say Fuck then I guess I'll just be amazing without saying Fuck." - and JRVP just wrapped up a 40 episode season, so if you haven't heard it yet, there's LOTS of free Jeselnik content out there on your favourite podcast app. "Just sit back, and enjoy the ride."
@Lucas Thompson Red State, Blue State is good but Long Story Short is almost perfect.
Jeselnik is great in those podcast. I wish he would appear more on Kill Tony. That format is perfect for his personality.
@Vorta Maj "Long Story Short" is almost perfect, no argument there. Yeah, I wish he liked doing "Kill Tony" more, it seems like such a perfect place for his persona, but Hinchcliffe says it's like pulling teeth trying to get him to do it.
Thanks for these videos over the years, 92Y!
I love how Anthony keeps a completely deadpan disposition, but he’ll catch himself with how funny what he said was and he’ll have a tiny smile curl up at the corner of his mouth. He keeps the deadpan, but just lets this very subtle smirk come out. It’s hilarious.
Someone is in love.
That was a great interview.
Great seeing Jeselnik!
Been waiting for this!! :O
Two greats from different generations. Love both these guys.
What he was saying about his experience being the class clown was very true. As a former teacher I can attest that it is near impossible to kick a kid out who has actually made you laugh. It’s a game with kids like that. If you can make THAT kid laugh, you’ve got him. And then you have the class.
i hope you are appreciated! that's so cool that you know that. you seem like a good teacher
Amazing seeing a living legend on stage.. and Anthony Jeselnik.
I thought he was gonna say, “ I could’ve been an attorney, or I could’ve been a housewife.”
Right? Colin just leaves the low-hanging fruit, it's awesome.
@@krisschaefer876 That would have ben Antony's line, had he chosen to go there!
@@spudlington No auty... The timing was perfect for what coulda been Colin's line... "I thought you were gonna say, 'Or a housewife.' "

colin quinn is such a natural moderator. this is awesome
Haha that’s almost an insult. It’s like saying rich vos is a good host.
Coherent Colin is always a treat! Love you Colin.
Was disappointed by the Poland quip tho. It seems that Colin has conflated the Nazi German Aryan stereotype with the Polish antisemitism stereotype. Guess it's just another illustration of how detached American Jews are from reality. And that's a shame.
Col is one of those actors that gets sharper and sharper as time passes
Listening to him talk about his show his new show sounds like it’s gonna be awesome

I normally can't watch hour long interviews but this was funny and well done.
Gotta love Colin's meandering questions.
DAMN ! Gotta watch this !
so cool to see those two having a conversation.
random mashup
S.P.S. G.E. How is it random, they’re both comedians.
Jeselnik says at the end that he chose Colin to do it.
I love Colin Quinn so much
He’s the best comedian today. Perfectly dark and hysterical! 🤘🤘
Always happy when theres a solid interview with comedians, so many interviews don’t dig deep, i love finding out how they got into the business
Jeselnik and Quinn? I'm in.

OMG I just learned about this. My two favorite people. What a great interview :):):):):)
My only problem with Colin is that his brain is too fast for his mouth and he starts multiple sentences that he'll abandon to move forward.
I think that's part of his charm. Like when he says Chris D'Elia and Joe Rogan. He doesn't actually finish saying Rogan before he moves forward like you were saying.
@@333Ocsis yeah if you watch his specials you can see it get progressively worse as he gets older. I love Colin but it's a little distracting.
I kept expecting Jeselnik to make fun of it. Anthony's style (on stage at least) is like the exact opposite, he always talks about efficiency in his jokes so I imagine it might drive him nuts lol.

I'm so happy anthony referenced al swearengen. One of the greatest characters of all time.

Well he did ask.
...two of the best...
i still crack up at Jack Handey deep thoughtsstuff to this day yet most people dont know what im talking about when i reference him or use his style, love his comedy !
That Swearengen analogy was perfect. I don't get why I can't watch this guy with more people. Even the ones that don't get upset seem to miss the beauty of the perfectly crafted irony laden curve balls.
Yeah, I'm not offended by him, but so far he hasn't gotten more than a few smirks out of me. I just don't find what he says as relatable or believable for the most part. Try Sam Morril if ya haven't yet.
Jeselnik definitely turned a new page in his book of awesome savagery with his last special, he is really up there with the big boys now. Fucking love it.
Fabulous interview
Love Anthony.....
15:20 this is very true. Speaking english and understanding english are 2 different things. The reason is that most read or listen to english content and learn to understand it but its very rare to speak it on a daily basis. I for example listen, read and write in english every day but i speak english MAYBE 1-2 times a year when on vacation. So he is absolutly right. Great observation.
Who else knew this interview would go well before starting it?
He's awesome.
"You're fans, I get it" lol...
"You guys are writing down questions, I'm pissed about that" lol...
I love how he can be so arrogant and honest and still be funny and likable.
So cool.
that louis ck story had me dying !!!!
This is the good content right here boys. Awoooooo
Colin Quinn, I hope you want to and can get Tough Crowd back on the air Anthony would make a great panel member.
My hero
Jeselnik probably for me best comedian floating around last 5 years... head and shoulders above the rest... and boy can he roast
I went to his show in Warsaw and he said the same thing about google. I myself googled him around the time of his Charlie Sheen’s roast, just to see if he wasn’t of European descent - his last name sounds as if it could have been anglicised. So to some extent the version he got was right. But to claim, that after seeing his special I would think he’s Polish is a little far-fetched. Why the high google count in Poland? The stand-up scene here has been growing quite rapidly during the last years so looking up American artists only seems natural. Also - if you take a closer look - Anthony’s topics are in fact quite universal, his delivery is intelligible and that mix of dark humor and meticulously crafted material is simply very enjoyable. What’s not to google? By the way - no New Zealand on the search podium comes as a surprise… Pozdrowienia z Polski! :]
this just autoplays after every video I watch on UA-cam now
Jeselnik is my favorite comedian. I'm not a comedian but I do like to predict the punchlines, since every one is misdirected. His specials are the only interactive ones
He sounds like what I think Schwarzenegger would sound like without the accent
Mmo Boys don’t hate this
weird but I see that.
Or if he could speak English @ all. Not only is Jeselnik too smart to bang the help, he's too smart to get married.
Oh shit that’s so true
I’d love to see Jeselnik interview Timothy Olyphant. I feel like they would try to out intensity each other lol
That Deadwood quote is such a good ender. On a par with that gem from Rust Cohle: "The world needs bad men. We keep the other bad men from the door."
tour in South America! think about it ... specially in Sao Paulo, bc I couldnt travel to other city.
Have to admit, I easily forget and have to watch Anthony repeatedly to take a new/ old joke I missed laughing at the prior joke.
He sounds like Christopher Walken's cousin with less micro-pauses.
And proper, much less autistic intonations.

Andre Maines I think when I posted this is was thinking of more like CSI Miami. Him putting his glasses on and making a dead baby pun.
I could see Anthony doing a satire style show of something like SVU
His only barrier to pulling this off: SVU degenerated into self-parody about fifteen minutes into it's first season on air.
