Got a chunk of metal stuck up behind 2410's impeller while blowing snow today. Locked it up TIGHT! Your video wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but it DID explain how to to get it out--tomorrow.Thank you.
Our electric dryer's drum belt failed today too. Learned how to replace that, too. Thanks UA-cam content creators.

Dear Dave, Thank you for your time and efforts in producing this video. I, too, have a Troy-Built Storm 24" snow blower which hit a large piece of metal hidden in the deep snow.
The soft brass teeth were stripped off of the worm gear. The machine sat idle for two years because I couldn't figure out how to remove the auger gear-box. After watching your video, and learning your tricks, the task was easy. Thanks again☺

Thanks for the timely video. Until I retired I would take my Troy Bilt to a shop to do these things. Now after retired, the need for a more frugal approach I've started youtube videoing information so as to remove the mystic of these necessary maintenance items. Recently tackled changing oil, replacing the carburetor, and repairing a flat tire. Discovered that there is a video for every procedure no matter what. I'll be replacing several of the things you covered here after the snow season ends as we recently had two blizzards back to back and need to keep it working. First blizzards dumped 24- 30" and the 3 day one going on now will surpass that one.

I remember having to split the body on a lot of snow blowers back when I worked at a small engine shop. I remember having to use a torch to cut the Auger bearing out of its frame because they were pressed in. I cannot remember which brand. After a while I knew which blowers required splitting to change belts and which ones didn't. It was always a long day when that Auger bearing needed replacing on most models. I found you can split the bearing with an angle grinder and cut off wheel as well. I do not miss working at that small engine shop any more. It was supposed to be a part- time gig but became full time, which didn't fly with the wife because I worked 3rd shift full time, then went and wretched small engine after wards.

Just a friendly reminder. In the future, when ever you lubricate the shaft on your snow blower, make sure to ALWAYS use NEVER seize. Put anti seize on every nut and bolt as well. 😊✌🏿

just google your model on line and you can find online diagrams for almost all models. Most of the snow blowers are all the same design. Troy Built was bought out by MTD and they were bought out by Black and Decker which now owns most of them and even big tool companies were bought by Black and Decker including DeWalt Industrial Tool Company.

A lot of the snowblower machines are all the same from one manufacture just rebranded to each companies individual companies labeling specs. MTD and Troy Built are the same machines as is Craftsman and several others, and recently
Stanley Black & Decker bought over 80 percent of MTD making them the manufacture now.

Many, many thanks. My auger stopped and I found one of the spacers twisted. I just disassembled the auger according to your excellent instructions. I either put in an incorrect shear pin at one time, or the pin failed to fail. I really had to pound it out and It's still intact, although bent. My question concerns maintenance on the belts and pulleys. The belts seem fine, but there is a lot of gummy black dust around. Did you think about replacing some belts and doing some more clean up while you had it apart? Any and all advice would be appreciated.

It may just be stuck at the bearing a little in the back, try spraying some WD30 on it and let it soak a little and try again to pull the assembly forward as in the video, it should come right out.

Are you sure all the bolts are out on both sides of the auger shaft, if so maybe the shaft is getting stuck on these holes and you may need to use a screw driver and pry the side caps on both sides of the auger shaft to loosen them up.

I don't know off hand what model number it is, I just went off "Troy built 2410" for buying parts. Most brands of snow blowers are made by the same company just retaged for different companies now. The 2410 is the same for a lot of companies like Troy built, craftsman, yard machines and several others... parts are all the same and I found the parts to be cheaper on ebay.

Nice work 👍🏼. I just purchased a used one for $100 and started up with no issues. Took notice the auger wasn’t working so I took the belt cover off and discovered the belt is worn, ripped and broken with a good amount of black gookie caked up residue throughout the pulley, cable spring and the compartment. Will be replacing the 2 belts, a tune up and a good cleaning.
