This video helped me save a lot of money 😁 thanks alot I could figure out why it wasn't throwing as much snow as when I first crazy part I didn't notice that the screw is missing until after watching your video 👍
Thanks a lot! This was my issue after I examined my snow blower! The shear bolt snapped and is still stuck inside the tube. I’m going to hammer it out and get a replacement bolt! We’re expecting snow tomorrow and I’m glad you helped me find my issue!
@@djatomic75 yeah! It proved to be a little bit of a challenge because one end had a slight lip from the angle it snapped. It was a little awkward to push out from the bottom instead of doing it from the top. It came out with ease
I have a question that may or may not be related. I have a yard machines 22 " snowblower like the one in the video. My auger turns but not very fast. The thrower wheel goes pretty fast, but when it hits snow slows down and won't throw snow past the machine. It sounds like a plastic grinding noise when it starts to rotate again. Any idea on what the issue could be? Any help would be awesome.
There is a belt inside the machine. When you pull the lever to activate the augers, it pushes a pulley against the belt to tighten it. I am guessing it is not tightening the belt enough. Try manually pulling the cable to see if the augers turn better. Adjust the cable to take some slack out.
Thanks for this video . Have same problem and did not know it was a simple bolt , was thinking it was the drive and about to take it in for repair. -Cheers
have the same issue with one set of blades not turning. after only two uses, too... (husqvarna). I registered the product in November. Will I be covered for a repair, if needed? either way, I can't wait to check it out to see if your video helps...
+mactionY2K5 You probaly hit something solid that caused the pin to shear. That is what it is supposed to do. As opposed to destroying the machine. I doubt you will be covered, but who knows.
Does that set of blades turn freely on the axle? With just one set of blades stopped turning, that sounds like a pin/bolt. If it was a belt, usually the blades won't turn at all.
Great video, that is exactly what happened to my snowblower BUT the problem, is that there's no hole ? I just don't get it at all... maybe the bolt got stuck on the bar... there's litteraly no hole there...
Thank you very much! This was exactly my problem and you showed me how to fix it very easily with a $2 part instead of a large repair bill and time delay. Thank you!
Hi , I have a Tecumseh HSSK 50 snoWblower yard machine MYD shp22 5 forward 2 Reverse.I need to change both belts do you have videos to show how to change?
It seems that my shear pin broke off flush and seems to be seized to the shaft. It looks like the shaft may have to come out. Do you have a video for removing the shaft? I know it "looks easy", but.
Try and rotate auger so you can get the hole over top of the location where pin sheared off then take a smaller diameter bolt or nail and drive out the sheared off pin. Replace with a proper shear pin not a regular bolt.
Apparently this pin had been broken for awhile and I wasn't having any luck driving it out. So I stopped to see my "guy" about fixing it thinking that the whole thing would have to be taken apart. He told me he could drive it out in a few minutes with no problem. So I took the machine to him and he grabbed a punch and a big ol' ball peen and proceeded to whack away at it with no luck. "never had this happen" he said. So I left it with him and he drilled it out, which I was hesitant to try and possibly ruin the shaft. I just got it back today and all is well, This is the most trouble I've had with the machine in 37 years of NE Pa, winters. Not bad. Thanks.
quick question: my machine throws snow but then stops after getting like a foot into the path or so, the big augers turn but the smaller propeller one inside the chute stops spinning with it once i get going. any suggestions??
You have to align the augers properly before you replace the shear pin. Also, any grade 2 bolt will also work and are cheaper that shear pins and ALWAYS keep a couple extra around.
We just installed a new belt on our Craftsman snowblower. Then we engage it and it will throw the snow but then it shears the new belt off... Any ideas what is causing this?
Always make sure you grease the hell out of the pin and the pin hole bofore you install. It will make life a lot easier if you need to remove it. I've know people who couldn't remove the pin and tried to drill it out, only to break the drill bit off in the hole. He eventually had to torch the auger off.
I have the same issue on mine, on the side that is not working i noticed the nut was still attached. I loosened it and it poped off.. part of the sheer bolt seems to be rusted tight inside. Im unable to hammer it through
I bought some cheap wrenches and I keep them and some extra bolts right on the machine. I broke a bolt once, I figure that's the best way to guarantee I don't break another one. ;)
As long as they are proper Shear Bolts as shown in the video. Unfortunately some owners just install a normal bolt which can be a fatal recipe for gearbox damage if augers get jammed.
@@brianbaker359 True, I didn't specify that, did I. Yes, I actually brought a bolt in for comparison so I'd get the correct one. I can't find the hole to slide the bolt through. I can't understand it. I've rocked the blade back and forth because there's some play in the axle it's on. Can't find the hole anywhere. So weird.
Different issue and depends on your blower. Could be that something is stuck and not releasing, or a spring part broke or fell off and the part is not releasing. Yours might be different,
shyflirt1 mine is the same. I tinkered with it a little and figured out that the "braking" mechinism that drops onto the bottom pulley is worn out. Once i replace that i should be good. Thanks!
Thank you my friend! I'm not gonna waste my money on a shear pin/bolt. I think a normal bolt that's half sized with washers will function just as well. Mines out of warranty anyways.
