Thx! I like the idea of changing the cotter pin to improve the range of motion. My previous snowblower had better range than this one. Any Ideas how to improve picking up the snow better; with no scrapper bar it always leaves 1" to 2" on the pavement. Adjusted the skid shoes. But that's in front. The problem seems that the plate under the augers isn't long enough to scrape the pavement and push the snow into the impeller. Piss a** poor design for light snow (1"~4") anything above 12" it's ok...but still the not fully clearing the driveway. Any ideas to correct it?
Is the 2nd blade in the middle Is supposed to turn as well as the front one? Mine isn't foe some reason I can turn it by hand but it's not turning with the other blades and then the snow is not going through and coming out any thoughts?
Well done vid and nice work. I'm retentive and like to put a mat down or a piece of cardboard down to avoid bucket scrapes (that can introduce rust) when putting the machine in the service position. Though I know you put that bucket down slowly and carefully. Typical MTD even on a new machine the Right side auger housing panel is beginning to fold in already. All the best.
Shocked it didnt bend the center shaft, happened to mine when it jammed a rock in the center auger and also to a buddies with the Columbia model of the same blower. I posted reviews of mine

Is that a western meadowlark singing in the background?

Is that an old Benz in the garage?
I would have liked to see how you took the auger off of the machine like you did the snow chute.
The cotter pin will most likely shear, they are not hardened steel like the pin that you took out.
I thought the pin is a bit smaller diameter than it should be. Guess we'll never know if it survived or not.

Just did that to mine today when I hit a patch of gravel spring cleaning
Doesn't that white auger have sheer pins on it to help avoid problems?
The auger screw in front does, but if there are any for the impeller they didn't work.
So I have the troy bilts 5524 but it's to weak for my driveway. Is it possible to swap for a bigger motor? I just want it to have more power thank you
While it may be possible, I would think adding power and not strengthening the rest of the drivetrain could lead to problems. I can’t say for sure.
Nice t-shooting. Good work.
Big Jim isn't first on this one! Nice & easy fix! I always hit the hidden newspaper with mine.
They said he also got some pottery. :)
Did that yesterday. Major pia.
Tell them that Troybilt also builds rototillers.
ha!! 2nd is ok too. ha! i bet the garden trowel was left by the bag of mulch:-) maybe they will remember to put them away next time-huh.
Those freak snowstorms can hide stuff fast.
You did tell them that snow blowing and gardening is done in 2 different times of the year, right?! :)
Actually it overlaps out here for a few weeks. Our last snow was mid to late May.
