Nice find! Looks in amazing condition - if it was in the UK you wouldn't be hunting for rust you'd be trying to find the solid steel! I'm no expert but I think these starter motors have a rubber coupling which fails. There'll be more information on the LRSOC forum. Good luck! Keep us updated😀

Thanks. It isn't too bad really. Thanks I will look into this in a few weeks. I did have someone tell me about using some rubber hose to fix it so you must be on the right track.

The part that's probably failed in the starter is the Bendix drive, part number 260046. These are available online however avoid the cheap ones as they are prone to failure in less than 100 starts!
Good luck in getting her going!

Chassis looks pretty good, its a pain but strip it all down and do the chassis properly as its the basis of your entire resto, getting that right is important. As you said it's all pretty straight forward; mostly cleaning, some corrosion prevention and some pad welding by the look of it, you may be able to repair that outrigger. I'm learning how to do vids as well and have found putting the camera on a tripod makes a huge difference, perhaps a task ligh in your dark shed and under the car etc? I switched from a G10 camera to using my smart phone with a tripod kit and directional mic which helped, I'm still learning but my episodes are slowly getting better. A video kit for a smart phone is cheap on ebay. I try to film shorter sections then edit them together on imovie to cut out the dodgy bits (well some of them :-)) . Hope this helps, keep going with your vids as it's a great project and I can't wait to see your little landy on the road!! Cheers Steve

Thank you very much for the feedback. I definitely need to get a mic as that is the biggest problem with the go-pro. As silly as it sounds as I am spending a bit of money on the land rovers, I don't have enough money to get a decent camera for videos. Maybe next year.

Most land rovers where i live are either sunk in the mud or just smashed to bits
