I both agree and disagree. Scarlet Dawn is a sort of uncanny valley effect for me. The visuals, the gameplay, the boss designs, the story all feel like a natural evolution of HotD4. But 4 had decent voice acting, like genuinely B+ not bad at all emotion and inflection. Scarlet Dawn's voice acting would sound fine in HotD2 as cheesy zombie schlock (don't get me wrong, 2 is a great game and the schlock factor is not an insult) but I would never use 2's voice acting in Scarlet Dawn

Then again, I don't think Sega cares too since the PS5's Gyro motion has no sensor bar for reliable accurate cross hair/pointer aiming, and the series X doesn't even support gyro. Releasing it in VR(Using Quest 3 & PC, or PSVR2) AND PC using a OLED compatible Light gun would be great!

Temperance somewhat made sense tho conceptually speaking. He's a huge fat blob and bullets wouldn't be able to pierce deep enough to damage him. His head was his weakness since that's the least fatty part but it had to be a heavy hit still. I don't see why High Priestess would be invulnerable to attacks. It's not like it had layers protecting it like Temperance. Heck if anything, the mouth woulda been a weakness too. Somehow soft enough to burn and explode but bullets can't penetrate it like????

The Chariot has really improve in this game in the first house of the dead and the remake. He’s just an easy boss fight to kill but in this one, even if he’s the first Boss fight to go up again, he put up a big challenge.
I love the visual upgrade, hated the downtoned violence but understand why they did it. I also like the new mechanics but with too many alerts and instructions the fun of discovering them by yourself is gone, and I can't help but feeling that players are treated as dumb. The "player X damage" annoyed me, i think a bloodspot on the face is enough. Hope they port this to PC or consoles, and even come up with an uncensored version.

I can't understand why they never brought the game to PC, I am yet to this day have watched a full playthrough of the game (only less than 10% to avoid spoilers), it's one I hope to get my hands on one day. The fact they release THOTD 1 Remake on........ Pretty much EVERYTHING is like a funny joke, but it might means a future port for Scarlet Dawn at some point. Maybe after the upcoming remake of the 2nd game. Now I noticed how Scarlet Dawn combine between 1,2 and 3's rescue civilian/partner systems, which is cool! Not only that but the civilians are more alive and one of them even helped at least.
5:03 This feels like a nod to the final boss fight in Time Crisis 4 which also had a "man-wall". 45:54 Besides the samurai zombies and the bowler hat zombies these Slash zombies are probably some of my favorite out of the new ones. Just so hilarious and so like HOTD. 46:45 I laughed when I saw the horizontal escalator's. Curien has his fridge filled with bodyparts in the 1st game, Goldman has his Japanese decor in 4 and now Thornheart has his "airport accurate" elevators in this game. Very lucky to have gotten to the final boss playing this game while dual wielding. I had enough credits to get to the end and by the time the battle started I had one credit, Ryan had 1 health and Kate had 3 and I had no clue what the hell to expect or how to beat the boss. After Ryan died I panicked and was like "how the hell do you kill this guy!?" and right at 54:02 it paused the game to resume the countdown on Player 1 before they Game Overed and once the countdown reached 0 the cutscene happened and Ryan of course does his thing. I thought "did this cutscene happen because Player 1(Ryan) Game Overed?! That is some detail." obviously that wasn't the case but all of it was very new to me as I haven't even seen footage of the game until I played it today. Really wish they would get off Yakuza and Sonic's nuts and port this to consoles.
I would have used stereo sound for this game, but I don't know of a way to do that. Edit: I believe that the attract mode FMV uses stereo sound, though.
This game series was alot more scary and fun when it was a few strong zombies on screen. Thry were able to interact with the environment better. You would be walking down a quite hallway and a creepy chain saw zombie would smash through a door. Having zombies everywhere every second of the game ruines that feeling. The stress in the game came from "where is the next one going to come from" remember in house of the dead 2 right from the start you walked into the library and the zombies were hiding behind desks then another one comes from behind you. Then after you talk to g 2 axe wielding zombies kick down the door and immediately after anither one kills somebody then you look forward to see another zombie chasing a woman then she tells you to save her friend. You crouch through a small hole only to find zombie frogs and a guy crawling away from another zombie. You walk forward and are attacked by a bunch of worms coming out of a sewer then immediatly 2 rotten epitans attack you from the bridge after you kill them a window is kicked open and axes are thrown at you. A second later a door is kicked open and a child is being chased by a group only to have more zombies jump down off the bridge then you walk forward only to see a woman haning onto the side of a bridge being attacked. You think you saved her after she falls but a zombie smashes through the door and goes after her. Essentially every combat point was optimised for the zombies to interact with the environment they were in. Thats why they are so memorable. This game is just non stop wads of zombies that really dont stand out from eachother smashing out of doors over and over and over and over. The skill is gone you just keep shooting and reloading. It really gets tiring after a while. The second game will always be the best, esoecially when it comes to the sound track. If they remake that game and dont use the original music ima be pissed. Not using the original music for the first remake was a sin. It ruined the game. Really how much money did they make not paying the original composer. It couldnt have been that much.

There’s a translated interview with the designers for one of the HOTD 3 home releases where the English voice actors dub over the Japanese audio. They actually sound like decent voice actors during it, so it’s actually clear that the stiff and corny voice acting is intentional direction by Sega.
Not really. Only the second game's voice works were hilariously bad. The first is chessy but still decent. 3 and 4 both have much more competent voice works, especially 4. (Goldman went from sounding like a goof in the second game to a legitimate sinister creep in 4) Though it is surprising to see Scarlet Dawn having wonky voice works again. Might be an intentional choice on the developers.

This game is playable on PC with TeknoParrot. That said, it technically is possible to record gameplay with a capture card, but most people wouldn't be able to do that.
I only have a stereo setup, and I think it always sounded mostly normal to me. I don't know of a way to make it sound exactly as it should if you also only have stereo sound, although it should still be better than it currently is for you. This is one fix I saw on reddit, but I don't know if it applies to your problem. Also, I had amplified the voices in this video, because they were normally too quiet with the default settings. "You can fix it by running the game in windowed mode , open up your windows sound properties (right clicking sound icon in taskbar) , you'll find sound being sent through 2 devices. Disable the one that isn't your default output and the sound will be restored. Took me forever to find the solution to this but hope it helps."
For anybody playing this game in the arcades and don't want to have your money drained. My suggestion is to pack the shotgun and Magnum. shotgun for large crowds. and the Magnum one shot's all fat enemies in the game. Good luck on saving some money. Lol.
Why do the zombies disappear after you've shot them? That makes the game unrealistic, you should see the dead bodies on the floor around and behind you.
With *this* many?! You have to keep in mind that arcade cabinets are computers too... with limited rendering capacity. Also, imagine the physics of a ceaselessly climbing mountain of corpses in the middle of your on-rails path.
Eh I see why people might enjoy this one, but to me seeing the literal flooding of zombies doesn't really gel as well to me, makes me think more of Horde mode or Nazi Zombies then an arcade shooter.

I did that on HoTD 4. Gah Damn reloading both weapon and throwing the grenades is hard. And I find that fun.

This is the real successor to HOTD 1 and 2 IMO. The monsters and setting are just silly enough without being completely over the top or too serious.

The location test version of Scarlet Dawn actually had WORSE voice acting than in the final game. Ryan sounded way goofier and had this shrill voice.

I don’t see subtitles in this game. Why?

"The English localization is incomplete, with most of the subtitles for gameplay and cutscenes left blank in the game code. The only English subtitles present are for The Moon and The Hangedman's dialogue, AI voices (unmanned helicopter in "Scarecrow Manor" chapter and laboratory security system in "Laboratory" level), level complete screens, and the "final result" screen at the end of the game. However, it is possible to bring the subtitles back by modding the subtitle file from a different language files (Spanish language for example). "
Whatever. Anyway, I played this arcade game for the first time at Dave and Buster’s. And I place in 7th on the leaderboard.

I don't know if I could play this game at 4k or not, but the video was upscaled from 1920x1080. I used a Ryzen 7 5800X with a GTX 1070.

Is this arcade? How could you record the arcade gameplay?
This game is playable on PC with TeknoParrot. That said, it technically is possible to record gameplay with a capture card, but most people wouldn't be able to do that.

How did you fix the sound? I have it deaf and disgusting, as if from the toilet!
I only have a stereo setup, and I think it always sounded mostly normal to me. I don't know of a way to make it sound exactly as it should if you also only have stereo sound, although it should still be better than it currently is for you. This is one fix I saw on reddit, but I don't know if it applies to your problem. Also, I had amplified the voices in this video, because they were normally too quiet with the default settings.
"You can fix it by running the game in windowed mode , open up your windows sound properties (right clicking sound icon in taskbar) , you'll find sound being sent through 2 devices. Disable the one that isn't your default output and the sound will be restored. Took me forever to find the solution to this but hope it helps."

It's crazy to think HOTD 3 is the finale to HOTD 1, 2, and 4, when HOTD 3 was probably the worst game in the series.

For anybody playing this game in the arcades and don't want to have your money drained. My suggestion is to pack the shotgun and Magnum. shotgun for large crowds. and the Magnum one shot's all fat enemies in the game. Good luck on saving some money. Lol.

Why do the zombies disappear after you've shot them? That makes the game unrealistic, you should see the dead bodies on the floor around and behind you.

You have to keep in mind that arcade cabinets are computers too... with limited rendering capacity.
Also, imagine the physics of a ceaselessly climbing mountain of corpses in the middle of your on-rails path.

Eh I see why people might enjoy this one, but to me seeing the literal flooding of zombies doesn't really gel as well to me, makes me think more of Horde mode or Nazi Zombies then an arcade shooter.

The Model 2 emulator is the only way to play that game, I think. It boots on MAME, but last time I checked, it wasn't playable that way.

Didn't look into it much, but I don't think I've seen a Japanese version. I'm not completely sure what you mean by connect to the internet, but this game isn't playable online, if that's what you meant.

I think you need to full gameplay without zero life, then you complete full gameplay, it will show the hidden ending :)
