    Aww, I've reached the end of the list!
    Thanks for that, and all the work you have put into these.
    Played Morrowind when I was pretty young and basically had no clue how the game worked!

      Most definitely, friend. Another favorite of mine was sneak casting a Spell of Drain 100 Speed on Range on NPC's so I could assassinate them without incurring a bounty. As that would render them immobile and essentially blind. Sneak casting even on Touch would also prevent incurring the Assault bounty. That helped a lot getting through the Draconis family assassinations with a clean record.

    Same as levitation a high acrobatics skill can make foes flee, either because you jump too high (feet approximately or above NPC height?) or you jump somewhere the NPC or creature can't follow you to (e.g. an emperor parasol).
    Two things I believe to remember but which I'd have to find my CD for to check: NPCs might take damage whiche paralyzed in water; night-eye reduces visibility of (object) shadows up to the point you can't really see them anymore.

    • @LyleShnub
      @LyleShnub  7 років тому

      Oh yeah, that totally makes sense about jumping out of range to cause enemies to start fleeing. I believe you're right about the other two as well. Obviously Argonians won't start drowning, but I think the rest do. Hearting your comment to signal boost it. Thanks for the added details!

    • @dontspikemydrink9382

      Lyle Shnub eh actually argonians do start to drow as their ability to water breath is an active, not passive (in this context an always on) effect. Npcs cant activate these race abilities either unless turning this option on in the morrowind code patch or through a similar mod. Hope you have a nice say and "die fetcher" to your heart's content

    At some point, I want to use commands to make my character blind but have detect creature and human a short distance permanently. Not only would this be great for a blind hero, I love the idea having to navigate only using the map. It'd feel quite Civilization at that point, but it'd also feel quite like a rudimentary RPG, like one you would play on an old computer. I could have all the windows open at once and it'd just be really cool. (if blind removes the arrow for the character, I can just go without blind and just use all of my screen for the windows).

    • @LyleShnub
      @LyleShnub  6 років тому +9

      The only trouble with this is that you might sometimes run into issues with trying to climb stairs and navigate multi-level buildings and dungeons. Lol, I can't imagine that getting up to the Ministry of Truth would be easy. Do the doors and scaffolding even show up on the local map?

    1- conjure weapon.

    Where can I get trained in illusion?

  • @gamer6uy
    @gamer6uy 7 років тому +3

    The fact that command humanoid/animal are conjuration and not illusion makes me cry blood. Also, will (normally hostile or neutral) npcs come to your aid in combat if they have high enough disposition towards you because they consider you a friend, and if so what would be the best fight value for them to have, high enough that they'll enter combat but not attack you regardless of disposition?

    • @LyleShnub
      @LyleShnub  7 років тому +1

      Yeah, command being conjuration is pretty bizarre. The naming conventions totally clash. I guess they just wanted all minion/companion related spells in one school? Dunno.
      As for your questions, I'm not sure if it's possible in Morrowind to have random NPCs come to your defense outside of modding. I know that you can sort of convert NPCs into followers with the aifollow console command. Of course, you'll be lacking the UI needed to trade items with them, so you'd need console commands for that too. It would be like a permanent command spell effect rather than the followers you can get in Tribunal. As far as I know, the alarm value only alters how an NPC reacts to your crimes. At 100, they essentially become a guard. They'll try to arrest you, but I don't believe they'll actually defend you like other guards do when hostile creatures are around. Even regular guards won't always defend you either, like if you taunted someone into fighting. Like I said, I could totally be wrong here and it IS possible. If you find something out, definitely hit me up if you remember to.
      Also, assuming you don't already know it, here's the console command if you wanted it:
      "select the npc you want" -> aifollow player 0 0, 0, 0
      First 0 is the duration, setting it to 0 makes it infinite. The other three are coordinates in case you want the NPC to stop following at a specific location.

    • @jemolk8945
      @jemolk8945 7 років тому +2

      I believe only guards and companions will fight on your behalf, and guards only fight creatures, not NPCs. The guards are happy to butcher a rat, but if a Dark Brotherhood assassin is chasing you through the streets of Balmora, they won't bat an eye. I could of course be wrong and more than just guards could exhibit this behavior under certain circumstances, but making guards help against NPCs actually requires annoyingly heavy scripting. So much so that, if you don't want to attach a script to every single guard in the game, you need MWSE for it.

    • @armandodechiara5612
      @armandodechiara5612 6 років тому

      It's important to take all the in-game books, especially the ones that are presented as fictional tales, with a grain of salt. In The Four Suitors of Benitah, the protagonist uses restoration magic to boost his INT so high that he is able to prove another dude doesn't exist, causing him to vaporize on the spot. He didn't even need the gauntlet.

    you don't actually need levitate for enemies to flee, they simply run if they cannot path to you. i got attacked by an assassin in seyda neen at level 1 with barely any gear, which went about as well as you expected until i got to around 40% of my health, and jumped on a rock that was slightly too steep for him to climb. by getting off the rock to lure him in range of my spear to poke and quickly hop back on top, i was able to take him out with just a crappy spear and no healing. Acrobatics is a sleeper skill.

  • @armandodechiara5612

    I'm playing at max difficulty (100) and very seldom does paralyze works; even common rats almost always "resist the magic".
    Well, now that I understood the "fight" value mechanics, I finally get why those damned "savage" ashlanders attack me all of a sudden

    • @LyleShnub
      @LyleShnub  6 років тому +1

      Hmm, that's odd. As far as I know, rats don't have any inherent resistance to any magicka. You're sure that the rat was resisting and that you weren't failing to cast? Also worth adding that difficulty only affects incoming/outgoing physical damage. Difficulty doesn't have an effect on spell damage or dice rolls.

    • @armandodechiara5612
      @armandodechiara5612 6 років тому

      Lyle Shnub that's interesting, thanks for the reply (btw, I love the fact you pretty much _always_ reply to comments!), didn't knew difficulty doesn't factor in. And, I'm using Morrowind Code Patch + Morrowind Patch Project, no mods.
      Yes I am sure, I get the message "target resisted magic" and it also happens when I use weapons enchanted with paralysis effect. It's like if they have a very high Willpower. Not totally sure about rats (can't remember) but definitely true for bigger animals, like Kagouti and Alit. Not to mention pretty much any humanoid NPC in the game (the higher the level, the worse; Dark Brotherhood assassin's chance to be paralysed is like 20%, for instance). I'm just not using Paralysis anymore!

    • @LyleShnub
      @LyleShnub  6 років тому +2

      Yeah, it could very well be a willpower ordeal like you say. I guess you could also drain willpower to get the paralyze off. Hahaha, but at that point, the magicka cost would be so high that it would be better to just use sanctuary or resist magicka on yourself since those are so cheap

    Does frenzy in Morrowind work like its equivalent in Skyrim? Can Frenzy make NPCs attack each other? Thanks!

    • @LyleShnub
      @LyleShnub  6 років тому +1

      Unfortunately Morrowind's frenzy only makes NPCs attack the player. However, you can use a command spell (conjuration) to have the same effect. A successful command spell essentially makes an NPC behave like a conjured creature.
      In Skyrim (and Oblivion) they kind of combined the effects of Morrowind's frenzy and command spells. I guess it makes sense, since it could be hard to tell at-a-glance what 'command' does if you're a new player.

    Where do all the calculation formulas come from? Was the source for them ever released?

    • @LyleShnub
      @LyleShnub  4 роки тому +1

      I don't believe the source was ever officially released, rather the player base dug through the game to find them. I believe the earliest fan publication of them was in the "Morrowind Scripting For Dummies" pdf. I believe OpenMW also uses the same data.
      Personally, I cross check the pdf, OpenMW's data, and anything on UESP. Then I try to run tests myself. If anything comes back incongruous, I check if anyone else encountered a similar issue and do my best to cite their findings and discussion alongside my own (I think the biggest example of this was either in this video or speechcraft - can't recall). If anything in my videos appears different from how it appears in the game's data, that's due to me trying to make the formulas easier to parse for anyone referring to my videos. My goal is just to make it simple for people to understand and keep the key information in mind while they play.

    if you're looking to bully mages, Drain Intelligence 100 pts for 1 second on target allows you to cause most enemies' magicka bars to straight up disappear, because for 1 second they have no intelligence (and thus no magicka, which is almost exclusively derived from intelligence), and when they return to normal, their magicka stays at its reduced value since it doesn't regenerate.

    They really butchered the magic in Skyrim in Morrowind and Oblivion I play a pure mage because magic has a little bit of what it needs for everything are you a thief chameleon invisibility and open are you an assassin well the ones listed above is an enemy too strong for you immobilize them with the damage strength or speed a spellcaster too powerful stupefy them that's what I call my damage intelligence spell honestly in my personal opinion destruction is the least efficient form of damage-dealing but the most efficient debuff Magic for example if you have a damage attribute spell and an enemy reflects it you simply use your restore attribute spell of the same type but if you blast a god tier lightning bolt at somebody and it reflects you're now with charred corpse on the floor much better to let your conjuration magic do the damage for you after all you may be as powerful as artillery but you are a glass Cannon

      Haha, yeah, youtube's comments can definitely be wonky sometimes. But yeah, I only ever finished the Tribunal Temple faction arc once a long time ago, so I can't remember exactly what you're talking about. Maybe it's that she's referring to a different priestess in there? No idea. Could be worth looking up the quest on uesp just to be sure.

      Lyle Shnub no, she litterally says her own name, and she is the sole priestess there too. you see her soon enough in your playthrough
