Hello from Sacramento. As a kid we had LP's and singles that when we learned were being released we would line up at the record store to purchase. There was no Internet. The Beatles during their initial run did not put singles on their albums. So you had to get the 45 rpm to own the song. This gave a notoriety to those singles where often both songs on the 45 became number one on Billboard. They were called "double A side" singles when this happened. Yolo and Unfair Game are an excellent example of the old artifact the double A side single.

I have always liked this track (and Matchless Gum) a lot and I have said it before, I typically like at least one of their B-sides more than the A-side (and some songs on the album that are connected to the single or EP). There is an exception for one or two singles/EP's, but this one certainly isn't one of those exceptions. It is crazy that they left this off the album actually and it probably also means that some people don't realize it exists.
Also, this Single/EP has the first couple of released tracks that Band-Maid wrote themselves after "alone" off of their previous album. I am sure they learned a lot from the writers that wrote their music for them, but they crammed in so many cool things in these first couple of tracks they wrote (especially alone, this one and Matchless Gum).
I love Maid Music. It's my favorite genre! Thx, BG!
Thx for the reaction. Love this song. One of the first that Kanami wrote for the band. Her incredible talent for songwriting was there at the start.

This would have been one of the first four songs Kanami wrote. They have never played this one live very much, which is a crying shame. We want this one and *"matchless GUM"* on a U.S. tour! Gee, quite a few people have mentioned *"Matchless GUM"* too. Maybe you should listen to *"Matchless GUM."*

Thinking about it - to be fair to them, they didn't play many gigs in 2020, 2021, or 2022. Their last live gig before Download last August was February 14, 2020 so only two months after the last time they played "Unfair game." So maybe there's hope!
I hope you can score an interview. If you do, please please please try to find a good interpreter. They did an interview at Aftershock that was an embarrassment (for the host, not for them). I think Miku and Kanami understand spoken English fairly well (if you go slow, speak clearly, and avoid slang) but forming English responses makes them uncomfortable. The problem at Aftershock was the interpreter was changing the questions to them and then changing the answers from them. Plenty of their fans noticed big time and tore the interpreter a new one.
@@LocalBandSmokeout They played this song live in their 2017 European Tour in the O2 Academy, Islington. There is a fan cam video in the YT channel SidneyLodge39 (I cannot share the link, YT deletes it).
@@JuanSan66 Yeah I tried to post some statistics (twice) and YT deleted them. It was played live 45 times, starting December 2016 and through 2017. It wasn't played at all in 2018 and only a few times in 2019, and none since.

It has to be Matchless Gum next. One of my top ten songs. This is just a killer single all around.

BAND-MAID catalogue now includes 115 songs! A new song, called “Memorable,” was performed live at their Tokyo Garden Theater OKYUJI on January 9, 2023. There are also a few "native" instrumentals there, I think eight. And then, of course, they released the whole Unseen World as instrumentals only, and those versions are freaking amazing, they sound like entirely different songs, but equally mind-blowing.
I don't know when I will be able to catch up with all your reactions, but I do enjoy them a lot. Thanks!

BAND-MAID just announced that they are back to US (LA, NY) in early February, to open for the recently formed The Last Rock Stars tour.
Hope you get a chance to interview them soon.
I also love Matchless Gum. Unfortunately, the definitive version is the live from the 2017 Shinkiba Studio Coast winter tour (on their Prime service).

B side to YOLO single 2016, along with Matchless Gum- both non album tracks too. This was a very experimental period for Kanami. One band-Maid fan has those headphones in his collection- they actually exist, it's not a graphic.
Yeah, the guys on Maid News Network here on YT interviewed him a couple months ago and he showed the headphones. He's also the same guy who interviewed Bandmaid after one of their Cali shows in 18 or 19 I believe.

Is "Youth" a b-side song? It wasn't on regular Unseen World cd but on the special edition cd/blu-ray.
I wouldn't call it a b-side, I would call it a bonus track or special track or something like that even though it was just in the normal tracklist and I guess you can catalogue "without holding back" as the same thing since it wasn't on the special edition.
It's a weird situation for sure.
