Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive 10 year back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and bad-ass musicians to boot. They are currently celebrating their 10th anniversary with the original line up. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. The idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!
I've been listening to hard rock since the 70's and I can honestly say that BAND-MAID is my favourite band of all time. They give me all the kick-ass sounds of the classic rock bands without the egos or attitudes. 🤘✌
Congrats on discovery of Band-Maid! You're 10 years late, but it's okay, it's better late than never. You have a very long list of Band-Maid songs to go through 120+ and counting: fans have a really hard time to name top10 or favorite Band-Maid songs, because they all that good. These ladies are monsters, everybody of them is extremely creative and talented, but together they are just Juggernaut of talent.
Great reaction. Just a very short hint since all the other maidiacs will let you know anything you need to: usually we and they use their first names: Mi-ku (our small pidgeon 🕊️), founder, lyricist, rhythm guitar and vocals(mostly second but she has some lead too) Sa-i-ki the lead vocalist Ka-na-mi (Mincho) the lead guitarist and genius composer A-ka-ne (the gorilla) on drums Mi-sa (barefoot assassin), the bassist
Welcome to Band Maid, they are my favorite rock band on the planet. They’ve been kicking butt for a decade and have a new album coming out this year. Check out their live stuff, they’re a blast live (seen them twice in person). As far as metal out of Japan, you’ve just heard the tip of the iceberg. Aside from Band Maid’s massive catalog of bangers (120+ tracks and growing), also check out: Hanabie, Nemophila, Lovebites, and of course BabyMetal.
Their most recent song , released last year is Shambles which was written for the anime “Kengan Ashura” , also an energetic song. They had a busy year last year touring the US (twice) and Japan celebrating their 10th anniversary so the only major release was their Best Of albums Vol, 1 & 2. A new album will be released this summer.Anyway welcome aboard, there is a lot of music to explore, they are an extremely versatile band and you never really know what you are going to get from one song to another. It could be a ballad like Memorable or really heavy like Rinne or anything inbetween. There are a ton of fabulous Japanese metal bands, Maximum The Hormone, Lovebites, Scandal, Nemophila to name a few.
Japanese Metal is where it's at at the moment. Check them all out! LoveBites = Power Metal HANABIE. = Metal Core (#harajukucore) NEMOPHILA = Heavy Metal the ever controversial BabyMetal (Kawaii Metal) the vocalists aren't metal per se but the band behind them is. Sokoninaru = Progressive Rock Gacharic Spin = everything in between, lol my all-time favorite is of course Band-Maid! They can do any genre.
You forgot punk, Otoboke Beaver, and Dizzy Sunfist. There are so many all girl or fronted bands from Japan that it's ridiculous. I also like this newer band called STMLT.
Totally agree regarding Lovebites, Nemophila and Hanabie. * Lovebites is probably the best heavy metal band today on this planet. You want it fast? You get it fast! But they can also make it beautiful. * Nemophila are just pro. In my opinion one of the best allround bands now, with a metal touch. And a very good singer, clean and scream. BTW - apart from their totally amazing original songs they are also one of the best cover bands around. * Hanabie is metal core and prog metal and very new. They are fun and have a tiny growl monster.
Band-Maid has had the same member lineup since its inception by rhythm guitar, lyricist and backing vocalist Miku Kobato 10 years ago. They are an incredible band and have many fans world-wide.
Welcome to The Maids! Best, most complete band I've seen...EVER (seriously. No joke). More hard rock than metal, but they'll take you through so many sub-genres it'll make your head spin, sometime in the same song...at the same time. Weird, but it ALWAYS works. I've seen them live twice myself and they killed it both times. Really, a phenomenal group of musicians and personalities. Just keep going with Band-Maid with whatever video or live performance strikes your fancy. You can't go wrong. Other bands of note: Asterism, Sokoninaru, The Warning, V.O.B. I could keep going but Band-Maid alone is overwhelming, so.... Thanks much and again, WELCOME! 🕊
I've been a rock & metal addict for over 40 years, and I've had my favorite bands that I've obsessed over and traveled the country to see. I never thought any new bands would come along that would give me that feeling of excitement for music like I had when I was younger. Until I stumbled across Band-Maid in 2018. It took me a little while to come to grips with reality, but I finally had to admit to myself that Band-Maid was the best band I had ever seen. Enjoy the ride...
Band-Maid are the best rock band on the planet right now, but they are best experienced live. Pick any one of their songs and they will blow your mind every time. More metal-esque songs in their repertoire include 'Rinne' and their last single 'Shambles', but every one of their 120+ songs are worth listening to.
@@eatsmylifeYTwhy not Babymetal? They may not be a "band" in the traditional sense, but perhaps a metal performance act is more accurate. Say what you will, their shows are pretty bad ass, the band is extremely talented, some of their songs are silly, but so what? They're a lot of fun. What's not to like?🤷
@@AldoGuerraALDO-METAL I just don't like them, that's all. They're just a novelty band. Once you get over their "cuteness", it just gets irritating. I won't take it against you if you like them. Just don't expect other people to like them just because you do. We all have our own standards and they don't really meet mine.
Kanami Tono, the lead guitarist, is quite afraid of heights. Fans over the years have speculated about what she may have been thinking as she was strapped standing to the top of that speeding car ... in sort of a "caption this" format ;) .
Rock is not dead..It Lives in Japan nowadays. Band-Maid: 10 years and 120+ songs of Greatness. Best liveband out there. Amazing musicians, humble humans 🔥🤘❤️
Band-Maid really got me back into Rock and they just insanely talented. I always recommend the Blooming music video as it has some really impressive playing by everyone, but as many people will tell them you should definitely eventually check out one of their live music videos. Got a chance to see them in SLC and in Japan last year and they are just unreal live, amazing players and just smiling and enjoying themselves the whole time. Domination Live is the most commonly recommended, but honestly you can't go wrong with any of them.
Thanks for reacting to Band-Maid and congratulations on finding the greatest hard rock band in the world. I discovered them less than 3 years ago and have been lucky enough to have seen them live twice and am looking forward to seeing them again when they're back in the US. I suggest checking out some of their official live vids. As far as Japanese metal bands, I love Nemophila. And there are some other good ones out there: Babymetal, Hanabie, Lovebites, Unlucky Morpheus, and more.
Ten years together as a band. There are some great Japanese Bands but Band Maid keeps on getting better. They write their own stuff now but really they have so many great songs stretching over ten years that never disappoint. Well worth investigating for early pop punk influences but now very mush rock/metal.
Welcome aboard, Coach. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 190 million YT views plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (130+ songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ua-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/v-deo.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Shambles, Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Sense, Glory and Unleash!!!!! (from their own Anime MV (series?)): ua-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/v-deo.html) And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts: ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” ua-cam.com/video/nAdWnIRjGak/v-deo.html Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (February 14, 2020) “Domination” ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” ua-cam.com/video/-qQnKILR5u0/v-deo.html Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD. “P and D⁴” Photo Collage videos at www.youtube.com/@PinDakaPanic810 And some of the better quality fan videos are excellent. Here’s two of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at an intimate venue: Shot by Pat McKee from their 2023 US tour concert in Detroit: ua-cam.com/video/DgxU-MVjta0/v-deo.html See the Maids 2023 Rockville Festival’s short-set perfection performance: ua-cam.com/video/vjZkNeoGmhc/v-deo.html If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009 Band-Maid Members: Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 29 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 32 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 32 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. [BAND-MAID NEWS] BAND-MAID PRIME - Special Video Distribution Website. Along with nearly 50 great play-through’s by each member, concerts and skits, Band-Maid management / label(s) have included the Acoustic Christmas 2021, ZEPP 2018 and Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 concerts! Fans can now see more than 50 great live performances with awesome audio, etc. like Fate, I Can't Live Without You and the great MISA / Kanami exchange in Don't You Tell Me. Those concerts are two of the best produced & performed concerts ever recorded, IMO. bandmaidprime.tokyo The Maids SOLD OUT 2023 US & Mexico tour wrapped up and was a fantastic success. And so many great live fancams to watch! Their playing and antics were as fresh and fun to experience from first show to last. BRAVO Band-Maid!!!!! In addition, their Japan tour finished up with 13 concerts, AND they’re writing and recording for their new album. Their 10th Anniversary Tour concluded at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26, 2023 and in Hong Kong Dec. 21! The Maids are one of the hardest working super groups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids, and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE!
Coach , Welcome to BAND-MAID , enjoy your journey down the Pigeon hole , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin , next song , Domination , official live video .

well.. if you want to break your bubble more there are NEMOPHILA, LOVEBITES, Babymetal, ASTERISM, TRiDENT, HANABIE, Galneruys, Mary's blood, Ironbunny, Maximum the hormone, Gordon, East of Eden for starters
Like the blurb from Lay's Potato Chips - "you can't have just one..." These gals have honed their craft over the last 10 years and have over 100 songs worth listening to. Don't stop with just one reaction to BAND-MAID. Check out their live videos, you won't regret it. Great reaction, Metal Coach, and thank you for discovering the amazing BAND-MAID.
Interesting you have 666 subscribers, that is so metal! hehe. Band-Maid is an unbelievably talented band, I love everything they do... btw, I loved Loudness back in the day :). Thanks for the reaction, check out more!
Welcome Coach! Yeah, I think you're gonna love this band. Their stylistic profile skews to hard rock, but that all depends on the song. You'll find other hard songs like Domination, Blooming, and Rinne; but also beautiful balladic songs like Daydreaming and endless story; acoustic music, etc. There's a great two-fer that includes Manners (kinda bluesy) and Black Hole (blazing prog rock) that shows their range. I'd also _really_ recommend a video of their recent performance of Dice & Hate at 2023 Lollapalooza in Chicago. FYI, they generally can be referenced as Saiki (Sigh-Key), MISA (Mee-Sah), Akane (Ah-Kah-Nay), Miku (Mee-koo), and Kanami (Kah-Nah-mee).
Welcome to the fandom! Best rock band in the world right now! I suggest these Band Maid songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, Bubble No God (live) & Puzzle (live)
The Maids are Awesome but Beware of their Charm or you'll soon be a Maidiac !! 😏♥️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘BTW, rock & metal are alive and well in Japan. You just dipped in your little toe.
Great reaction Band-Maid is a great rock band that likes to mix it with metal and punk. Also they add some pop elements here and there. Your next Band-Maid song should be SHAMBLES Japan has great bands, most here will start suggesting all girl bands for some weird reason but here but there is a great metal band called MAXIMUM THE HORMONE. They will kick all your metal senses . Give them a try.
You have found a fantastic band man! I bet im about the same age and I don't think I've had a band that I love as much as them. So many great songs! More then I love of other bands put together! AC/DC, INXS, Van Halen, and more. Metal is very good in Japan. You are going to get a LOT of suggestions lol. Lovebites, Hanabie, Nemophila, etc. Check out Band-Maids live songs, Play, Corallium, Black Hole, and the 2023 Lalapalooz show with Dice and Hate?.
Here is the first part of a file about the Ladies of Band-Maid. There is MUCH more if you are interested. Band Maid Is; (In order of joining band) Name/Age: Nickname: Position: Miku Kobato Small Pigeon/ Band Founder, Secondary Lead Vocalist, Rhythm Guitarist, Main Lyricist, Age: 32 Koba/Kuruppo/ Backing Vocals, Backing Tracks, Arrangements 10/21/91 Cluppo Kanami Tono Princess/ Lead Guitarist, Primary Composer, Backing Vocals, Keyboards, Backing Tracks Age: 32 Kanamincho/ Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Arrangements 9/28/91 Mincho Akane Hirose Gorilla/ Drums, Percussion, Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Backing Tracks, Age: 33 Ah-Chan Arrangements 12/14/90 MISA Barefoot Assassin/ 5 String Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Backing Tracks Age: 31 MISA-MISA-MISA Arrangements 10/15/92 Saiki Atsumi Ice Queen/ Primary Lead Vocalist, Backing Vocals, Lyricist, Backing Vocals on Backing Age: 29 Sai-Chan/ Tracks, Backing tracks, Arrangements 2/8/94 Sensei (Teacher) Now leaving that, I'll give you a brief pronunciation guide. Miku Kobato - Mee Coo Ko Bah Toe Kanami Tono - Kah Nah Mee Toe No Akane Hirose - Ah Kah Neh or Ah Kah Nee Here Ose A MISA - Mee Sah Saiki Atsumi - Sigh Key, Sigh Ee Key or Psyche At Sue Me And there are over 135 songs in the Ladies main discography. HOWEVER they also have what we call the "Alternate" versions. Ranging from acoustic, to special bridges, intros, and solos, the Ladies have what could be considered almost 200 songs. Their song Domination, has 5 unique versions, and many other of their songs have at minimum 3 different versions. All of them are very good, leading to us "Maidiacs" as we call ourselves to say the Ladies of Band-Maid have no bad songs. Not even their early songs which they did not write. They had input on all of their music from the beginning, and once they started to write and produce their own music, they have just gotten better.
Hey Metal Coach, nice reaction and thanks to Roger for giving you the inside scoop to my favorite current Rock band. Soon to be yours. As this was my favorite BAND-MAID song upon release in 2021 check out the song that replaced it as my favorite. It's an Awesome rock/metal/prog instrumental titled FROM NOW ON. The Maids will amaze you each and every time. Peace. 652
Sugoi! Great reaction. It's time to turn your attention to what's been coming out of Japan for the last 10-15 years. BAND-MAID is amazing, especially live. Would recommend you check out MAXIMUM THE HORMONE, NEMOPHILA, BABYMETAL, TRIDENT, LOVEBITES, etc., etc. Arigatou! 🤘🤘
Welcome to the cult of Band-Maid! You ain't seen or HEARD anything until you see them live. Misa is call the Assassin for a reason. (Seen them 4 times live including the Yokohama Arena final show of their 10th Aniv tour)
Cheers Sir Roger! 🍻 And welcome Metal Coach to the wonderful world of the Maids 🌍 Japanese rock and metal scene is on fire 🔥 and Band Maid is carving their mark on the world with progressive hard rock fusion with punk, funk, and pop. Recommendations will probably be their more “metal” sound, as they have a ridiculously varied catalog with fearless experiments with genres For you? “From Now On,” official live video; metal instrumental. “Rinne/Reincarnation,” LIVE if you can find it. The official music video is cool too; horror film aesthetic You have just stumbled upon the best thing to happen in the rock space since Tool. (And I’ve been playing guitar and going to concerts since 1978)
Thx for the wonderful reaction! This band is incredible and has an astonishingly diverse sound. They are comfortable writing and playing across diff genres, but most of their catalog probably falls under hard rock. The creativity you'll find in their 100+ song catalog is really interesting and inspiring. I'd recommend some of their recent stuff, like the instrumental "From Now On" or their most recent release "Shambles" (MVs for both are posted on their YT channel).
Great reaction. Feel free to stop, comment, and rewind. I bet your breakdown at various points of the song would be interesting. These girls have a lot of punk and metal influence. They fuse together into a hard rock that gets progressive at times. They pop style vocals stay hard and have punch but are accessible for everyone. And they have 100 songs! So, I never run out. Especially with a new album on the way this year. By the way, asian artists use their first names. Miku, Misa, Akane (Ah-ka-ney), Kanami, and Saiki. Band Maid is tops, but Hanabie and Love Bites are my other fave Japanese bands. Both are more metal but still a lot fusion going on.
"The only metal band I've heard from Japan is Loudness." OH MYYYYYYYYYY! Is there a DEEP rabbit hole waiting for you, lol! And I do mean DEEEEEP. Band-Maid isn't even considered a metal band. True metal bands out of Japan (just a small list): Lovebites, Nemophila, Hanabie, Galneryus, Ningen Isu, Aldious, Fate Gear, Bridear, Unlucky Morpheus, Cold Rain, Deviloof, Crystal Lake, Lonesome Blue, Broken by the Scream, and many more! Japan's elite and virtuoso metal scene, especially the female metal bands, is more prolific than the US and Europe combined!
You're going to get tons of suggestions for Band-Maid songs and other Japanese bands. The metal scene there is really healthy, and just the really good all-female bands are eye-watering. For Band-Maid, try *"from now on"* just because it _doesn't_ have Saiki singing. Kanami's guitar does the singing.
You may have just opened yourself up to a whole new world of music. Band-Maid is amazing and you should check out more but there's so much great JMetal/JRock out there especially on the female side of things. Band-Maid, Babymetal, Nemophila, Love Bites, Hanabie, Maximum the Hormone. I'm surprised you never heard of Dragon Force either. If interested you should check out more from Japan, it really is great stuff! Edit: If you do want to check out more Band-Maid and something earlier from them I'd suggest starting with Thrill and go from there. Happy listening

Oh man! If Loudness and Band Maid is your extent of Japanese rock, you have a pleasant surprise coming. OMG. The kids in Japan born in the 90’s have made lots of rock bands kick’n it today. I could easily listen to 20 bands.

I’ve been listening to these ladies for several years now. If you want to do a video that kinda shows a little bit of band maids range, do the double video for the songs “manners” and “black hole”
BAND-MAID reminded me to enjoy music, and I never get bored of BAND-MAID music because it gives me something new to enjoy every time I listen to it. By the way, "Unseen World" is a great album without exaggeration.
BAND-MAID consider themselves Hard Rock, but they have so many influences their songs are all over the map. And, being a Metal guy, check out the more Metal influenced songs like 'Different', 'Black Hole' and 'Rinne'. Also they were commissioned to do the season two closing theme for the Netflix anime, Kengan Ashura, Shambles'. It's very heavy! I think you'll love it. Also, Japanese list their last names first like someone reading a Roll Call. So you have to flip their names around in English or it sounds weird. And people will help with pronunciations. Don't worry. You'll get it.
If you like this band check out another all female metal band from Japan LOVEBITES and their song Judgment Day ua-cam.com/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/v-deo.htmlsi=bpEe1NNmoX2tElvg the title track for “Metal Hammer Magazine’s #15 top metal albums for 2023” and this band also won Metal Hammers 2018 Golden Hammer award for best new band P.S. LOVEBITES sings entirely in English subtitles available in the video
Introducing The Band... Miku [mee-kuu] (Small Pigeon) - Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Lyricist, Band Founder Misa [mee-suh] (Barefoot Assassin) - Bass Guitar Akane [aah-kah-nay] (Gorilla) - Drums Kanami [kah-nah-mee] (Mincho) - Lead Guitar, Songwriter Saiki [sigh-kee] (Sai-Chan) - Lead Vocals The band calls the contrast between their cutesy maid costumes and their hard rock sound "the gap". They enjoy seeing the confused looks on people's faces when they walk on stage and the reaction when they start playing with their hard rock sound. They call their fans Masters and Princesses, which refers to the maid cafe that band founder Miku Kobato worked in when she envisioned a rock and roll group with the maid cafe image and aesthetic. Us fans mainly refer to ourselves as Maidiacs. My opinion is that Band-Maid are one of the best bands to have formed in the past 10 years, and are currently one of the best rock and roll bands on the planet. They play many genres and styles including ballads, power ballads, pop, rock, progressive rock, hard rock, punk, metal, nu metal, and everything before in-between and beyond. They also have several great instrumental songs that they use live to give their lead singer Saiki a break. I don't know what musical style that you prefer but you can't go wrong by listening to Onset, From Now On, Moratorium, No God, Rinne, About Us, Play, Why Why Why, and my favorite Official Music Video of theirs Don't You Tell Me. The double bass kick drum on No God and Rinne will blow your mind. Have fun with it!
By the way... They have 10 years worth of music for you to check out and will have a new album coming out some time during 2024. Their catalog is well over 100 songs deep. If you hear something that is not suited to your taste then try a different song because there are a lot of styles to choose from.
Check out Nemophila and Lovebites for metal. BandMaid is a proper rock band that play, among many other things, metal. Been together 10 yrs. Same lineup. They love the fans and they love to play live and they love each other. And we Maidiacs love them. .May I suggest Manners/Black Hole LIVE next. New sub here!
Name pronounciation suggestion. Syllables are pronounced evenly and usually end in vowels. The vowel sounds are similar to the way the vowels are pronounced in DO-RE-MI-FA-SO-LA-TI -DO but are short. Examples: KA-NA-MI, SA-I-Ki, MI-SA, MI-KU, A-KA-NE, and PO. My thoughts on the band. They are a group of talented, fan friendly, hard working, fun, and happy musicians. Nice reaction Coach.
When choosing more of their videos, check out their UA-cam channel ua-cam.com/channels/JToUvYrmkmTCR-bluEaQfA.html There are many songs to choose from, but it is not all inclusive as they have well over 120 awesome songs, which includes many acoustic sets. There is not one bad song by them. From their 3rd album is the first original song their label allowed them to record. It is BAND-MAID / alone (Official Music Video) ua-cam.com/video/axF56i4spio/v-deo.html This song remains in my top 10 favorites by them. Welcome aboard.
Hello I always see it I'm Japanese I worked in the music industry and was also in a band. Japan's music scene I am also very knowledgeable about overseas music scenes. Japanese music after BABYMETAL It has changed a lot came. Compared to Ado BANDMAID is not popular in Japan. In fact, when I look at the reactions of people from overseas, I get the impression that they listen to all the musical instruments in detail when it comes to music. I think there are very few people in Japan who listen that way.
Welcome to the Maidiac world, awesome band who is conquer the entire world, my recommendations: Shambles, The Non fiction days, Alone, Dice, Hate, I'll, for start, also recommended another japanese band Nemophila, start with the song Rise, regards from Chile
Except for Kobato the band members go by their first names. Eventually you’ll find out how to pronounce their names correctly. Well, Misa’s is easy. 2023 was their 10th anniversary and the line-up hasn’t changed. Everything in their songs serves the music, no one has an ego to be satisfied. Kanami’s, also called Mincho, solos will be short in many songs but are written for that song. BAND-MAID is at their best playing live.
I've seen this look before, could be another Maidiac in the making. Just a heads up to avoid misunderstanding, Band-Maid are more of a Progressive Hard Rock Band with elements of Metal, Funk, Punk, Power Pop, Prog, Jazz and Grunge. As opposed to just a straight up metal band. Some of the harder songs in their catalog.include Rinne (MV or Live) and Puzzle (Official Live) *side note; there is an Acoustic Live version of Puzzle that'll blow your mind after hearing the original electric live Man O Man do you have a journey in front of you. I'm a Band-Maid to the bone kinda guy, so I'd Love to see you follow up on Band-Maid in particular. But if Japanese Rock and Metal Music were a land mass, you've just touched shore on a new continent the size of Antarctica and you've got a shit ton of fun exploring ahead of you. So fire up those headphones Shackleton you've just touched the tip of the Japanese Musical Iceberg. So Welcome to the Pigeon Hole. And no I didn't misspeak, I meant Pigeon, you may not understand at now, but you'll get there.
They are not a new band. They have been touring the US since 2016, and Europe. This year they performed at Lallapalooza, which is by invite only!! They rocked!! Here's Rolling Stones review: Japanese Rockers Band-Maid Put Guitar Center Showoffs to Shame There’s a pun to be made about how much Band-Maid ripped, but the Japanese group goes even harder than that. Fluctuating between hard rock, aughts nu-metal, and pop rock, each member of the quintet is a virtuoso in her own right with more than a decade of practice in Band-Maid alone. They lured curious onlookers into the fold when highlights like “Domination” and “Don’t You Tell Me” got huge reactions from the crowd, but it was the bass solo-versus-guitar solo duels mid-song that got the biggest cheers. This is what those guys in Guitar Center think their ridiculous riffing sounds like. Turns out it’s done best, and most effortlessly, by women in black-and-white maid dresses and frilly hair-pieces as they smile ear to ear. -N.C.
Subscribed. Great performance and reaction! BAND-MAID is awesome. If you would like to explore more and expand your channel, may I suggest a reaction to BABYMETAL. Their music has a positive and uplifting message. They have a fun and awesome performance: BABYMETAL - PA PA YA!! (feat. F.HERO) (OFFICIAL) Or: MAYA【Live Blu-ray/DVD「BABYMETAL BEGINS - THE OTHER ONE -」"BLACK NIGHT"】 🖖 ❤
The US invented Rock and roll. The UK refined it. The Japanese perfected it. 😎🤘
And we adopted it.😁👌
💯% agree. Hard to argue against this comment
yup 🤙🏽
They're Rock/Hard Rock, not really metal. but do have some metal in their library. Stay with them because Band-Maid NEVER disappoints.
Who cares?
@devingalloway2708 that would be me Sunshine.
@@devingalloway2708
People who are into metal are concerned
I love Band Maid, they are amazing! Band Maid by far the best band in the world right now!!!
BAND-MAID is so great that it can only be described as a gift from God😆
Other all female rock/metal bands from Japan, Nemophila, Hanabie, Love Bites...or Otoboke Beaver for some hard punk.
And they have an awesome, friendly family :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 They have indeed!
🤙🏽
I've been listening to hard rock since the 70's and I can honestly say that BAND-MAID is my favourite band of all time. They give me all the kick-ass sounds of the classic rock bands without the egos or attitudes. 🤘✌
Same here Jake ! Rock fan since I bought my first BEATLES album in '74 at age 9 . Band Maid is the real deal...There is none better ! 🤯♥️👑
@frankandre4385 my favorite band touring today. The only two bands I purposely learned the player's names were Jethro Tull and BandMaid.
For Japanese metal check out: Nemophila, Hanabie, and Maximum the Hormone … all phenomenal!!
Genuinely one of the best rock bands on the planet.
Po! (That means welcome in Po, Po!) 🕊️
Being late just means he has more music to discover.
Great reaction. Just a very short hint since all the other maidiacs will let you know anything you need to: usually we and they use their first names:
Mi-ku (our small pidgeon 🕊️), founder, lyricist, rhythm guitar and vocals(mostly second but she has some lead too)
Sa-i-ki the lead vocalist
Ka-na-mi (Mincho) the lead guitarist and genius composer
A-ka-ne (the gorilla) on drums
Mi-sa (barefoot assassin), the bassist
Lol, batteries?
Looks like Misa was a victim of autocorrect 🙄. I think you meant to say "Barefoot Assassin"
@@tsunami-lightwave9395 🤣 yes, po. FIXED 🤟
Band-Maid = Win! Every time! Watch live videos - super tight live band and great performers.
Band maid is a super live band 🤘🎸👍
Japanese Metal is where it's at at the moment. Check them all out!
LoveBites = Power Metal
HANABIE. = Metal Core (#harajukucore)
NEMOPHILA = Heavy Metal
the ever controversial BabyMetal (Kawaii Metal) the vocalists aren't metal per se but the band behind them is.
Sokoninaru = Progressive Rock
Gacharic Spin = everything in between, lol
my all-time favorite is of course Band-Maid! They can do any genre.
And do!
Super talented group of ladies at every position. Seen them twice live....definitely recommend live versions when available. Nice reaction.
Band-Maid has had the same member lineup since its inception by rhythm guitar, lyricist and backing vocalist Miku Kobato 10 years ago. They are an incredible band and have many fans world-wide.
You left out Spokes-Pigeon.
Voice of Bacophet are AWESOME! From Indonesia 3 girls who wear hijab and rock hard!
Welcome to *Band Maid!!*
Hey Metal Coach. Welcome to the world of Band-Maid.
Hope to see more Band-Maid here in the future !
Best live band I've seen since the great bands of the 70's
So proper and polite referring to the maids by their last names, except MISA of course.
1:04 The current line up is the original line up. They have not replaced members.
Band-Maid are the best rock band on the planet right now, but they are best experienced live. Pick any one of their songs and they will blow your mind every time. More metal-esque songs in their repertoire include 'Rinne' and their last single 'Shambles', but every one of their 120+ songs are worth listening to.
You dont\'t know it yet....but you just heard the best rock band on the planet !!!!! Welcome to the world of Band Maid !!!!
Welcome to the Band-Maid rabbit hole, you won’t be disappointed. There are over 120 songs in their catalogue.
Other current female Japanese rock bands; Hanabie, Lovebites, Nemophila, BabyMetal, Asterism
Babymetal? Seriously?
@@eatsmylifeYT and don't expect people to hate them just because you do. 😏
@@AldoGuerraALDO-METALI don't expect.people to hate them. I like making fun of people who like them.
Kanami Tono, the lead guitarist, is quite afraid of heights. Fans over the years have speculated about what she may have been thinking as she was strapped standing to the top of that speeding car ... in sort of a "caption this" format ;) .
Coming to an American city near you. I saw them in Atlanta last May. Crazy sold out theater show.
Band Maid is rock, metal, ballads etc.
For Japanese Metal try Lovebites, Hannabi, Maximum the Hormone .
New subscriber here. Welcome Home, sir.
Congratulations on discovering the BEST band in the world today! Enjoy the ride!! 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂🕊
(from their own Anime MV (series?)): ua-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/v-deo.html)
And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts:

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Band-Maid Members:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies.

Good info on pronunciation!
Your next Band-Maid song should be SHAMBLES
Japan has great bands, most here will start suggesting all girl bands for some weird reason but here but there is a great metal band called MAXIMUM THE HORMONE. They will kick all your metal senses . Give them a try.
You have found a fantastic band man! I bet im about the same age and I don't think I've had a band that I love as much as them. So many great songs! More then I love of other bands put together! Lovebites, Hanabie, Nemophila, etc. Check out Band-Maids live songs, Play, Corallium, Black Hole, and the 2023 Lalapalooz show with Dice and Hate?.

Akane Hirose - Ah Kah Neh or Ah Kah Nee Here Ose A
MISA - Mee Sah
Saiki Atsumi - Sigh Key, Sigh Ee Key or Psyche At Sue Me
And there are over 135 songs in the Ladies main discography.
これぞhard Rock、70年代が蘇ります、素晴らしいです、

Recommendations will probably be their more “metal” sound, as they have a ridiculously varied catalog with fearless experiments with genres
For you? “From Now On,” official live video; metal instrumental.
“Rinne/Reincarnation,” LIVE if you can find it. The official music video is cool too; horror film aesthetic
You have just stumbled upon the best thing to happen in the rock space since Tool. (And I’ve been playing guitar and going to concerts since 1978)
One of best bands I have heard in many years. They are fantastic 🤘
Good job. Excellent review.
Already over 120 original songs by this band. Try "No God" LIVE. next. You will like.
Really enjoyed your reaction. You gave it a lot of thought. I respect you for saying their names.
Yeah thank you! I forgot to say good job taking a swing at calling them by name. Respect!
The whole album is great every song
Thx for the wonderful reaction! This band is incredible and has an astonishingly diverse sound. They are comfortable writing and playing across diff genres, but most of their catalog probably falls under hard rock. The creativity you'll find in their 100+ song catalog is really interesting and inspiring. I'd recommend some of their recent stuff, like the instrumental "From Now On" or their most recent release "Shambles" (MVs for both are posted on their YT channel).
Best band in the world 🎎🤘🎎🤘
Great reaction.
JMetal... Like Nemophila... or Lovebites... This group really shines live.
They sound even better live , po.
Best rock band on the planet IMHO. Hard rock, not metal. For power metal try Lovebites, wear a seatbelt.

Oh man! If Loudness and Band Maid is your extent of Japanese rock, you have a pleasant surprise coming. OMG. The kids in Japan born in the 90’s have made lots of rock bands kick’n it today. I could easily listen to 20 bands.
Tell me about them please!
Welcome! Live Band Maid is best Band Maid....

Follow the comments below. After Band-Maid check out Nemophila live videos 🤘🤘
Both bands Loudness and Band Maid opened up for GNR in a recent tour in Japan.
The mighty maids strike again! 😎🤘
Introducing The Band...
Miku [mee-kuu] (Small Pigeon) - Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Lyricist, Band Founder
Misa [mee-suh] (Barefoot Assassin) - Bass Guitar
Akane [aah-kah-nay] (Gorilla) - Drums
Kanami [kah-nah-mee] (Mincho) - Lead Guitar, Songwriter
Saiki [sigh-kee] (Sai-Chan) - Lead Vocals
The band calls the contrast between their cutesy maid costumes and their hard rock sound "the gap".
Nemophila is another good Japanese band check out their song Adabana or Rise.
It is
BAND-MAID / alone (Official Music Video) ua-cam.com/video/axF56i4spio/v-deo.html This song remains in my top 10 favorites by them. Welcome aboard.
Hello
I always see it
I'm Japanese
I worked in the music industry and was also in a band.
Japan's music scene
I am also very knowledgeable about overseas music scenes.
Japanese music after BABYMETAL
It has changed a lot
came.
Compared to Ado
BANDMAID is not popular in Japan.
Now you need to listen to a band called THE WARNING
ROTFLMAO. Sorry just the pronunciation of their names.😂 Welcome to BAND-MAID.
Also he's calling them by their last names vs their first names.
Yeah you can tell he worked in a butchers shop.😂
@@GaryHolloway-810 As the apprentice. 😁😁
@@jeremydawkins8814 LMAO.🤣
@@GaryHolloway-810 Hey. Saw the foo fighters on Saturday night. Awesome.
Some of the harder songs in their catalog.include Rinne (MV or Live) and Puzzle (Official Live) *side note; there is an Acoustic Live version of Puzzle that'll blow your mind after hearing the original electric live
Man O Man do you have a journey in front of you.
Great going Metal coach what do you think about The Pretty Maids ???
I really hope they make a MV of "Btightest Star". Their new album can't come soon enough for me! "Secret My Lips" is a great older song by the Maids.
They are not a new band. They have been touring the US since 2016, and Europe. This year they performed at Lallapalooza, which is by invite only!!
They rocked!!
Here's Rolling Stones review:
Japanese Rockers Band-Maid Put Guitar Center Showoffs to Shame
There’s a pun to be made about how much Band-Maid ripped, but the Japanese group goes even harder than that.
They have a fun and awesome performance:
