I've listened to "Bestie" over and over. Repeated listening's bring out the detail in this song: Misa's bass and Kanami's guitar as well as Akane's drums. Miku's lyrics are excellent as always, shining on the silver linings within life's clouds. I can't wait to see them perform "Bestie" live. As always there is a lot going on that seems to be buried in the mix, so I will give this one a thorough run through. It's a good one. And Old Mr. B, I'll keep you in my prayers. I know how frustrating it is to go for weeks without diagnosis when you're feeling unwell. I hope you feel better soon!
First, I hope you're feeling better soon. Band Maid are great no matter what genre of music they do. The lyrics really moved me, they got me thinking of a friend from high school, who passed away several years ago.
Really sweet lyrics! _You look up in the sky / We live in the same time_ _Yes, I am always here for you / Right here beside your heart_ I hope everything turns out okay.
It is a song that on first listening felt nice and simple. Loved the lyrics and drums that kept the song going and Saiki was lovely and expressive. But the more I hear it the more the Band Maid magic comes through. The more 'feeling' seems to be absorbed by the listener. I was a bit underwhelmed to begin with but am finding myself really liking it now. Sorry to hear about the health problems you have been having. Once the results are through you can then feel able to decide and face what needs to be done. It is the anxiety that is worse. Still no better than Band Maid to make you feel better. All the best and thanks for all the music you react to.
The verse melodies & Saiki's delivery are the standout for me, Mr B, but the way it builds up i was expecting one of B-M's usual catchy, soaring choruses & it never really gets there :)
this song probably has the purpose of appealing to people other than rock fans. they have recently referred to the revival of rock music as their historic mission😊
@@keronjinRYU Absolutely, & they're achieving it imo. You can tell the difference in sound Mike's input has had & it's a damn sight better than Tiny Visconti's was on TDC.😖
Yes, it is a bit different in that respect, the arrangement feels a little less creative to me. Feels more like an American rock composition to me instead of a Japanese rock composition, but for me Misa still brings the more creative bass lines to the party and Kanami's solo hits the spot also.
@@maidsandmuses You're absolutely spot on "An American Rock composition". It's got some catchy chords & is pleasant to listen to but nothing you haven't heard a million times before :,
Old Mr. B, I sincerely hope you find out what's wrong and get it corrected. Best of luck!!!!! This is a wonderfully uplifting song from the Maids. Being an old Maidiac, I love them so much. This song lifted up my spirits and I hope it does yours. Great lyrics, great vocals, GREAT music. Thanks Mike Einzinger for composing it and to the Maids for performing it so well. Good luck to you sir from another Old Mr. B.
Absoutely, we all send Mr B our best wishes & hope he's back on form as soon as possible.🤔 Tho come to think of it, Bill, Mr B's never been normal anyway has he so it'll be hard to tell.🤭
When the physical single is on sale I intend to purchase three copies: one for me the other two are going to be sent to my local radio station. On the envelope I am going to write in ORANGE letters: "Cowritten by Mike Einziger of Incubus".
That 1st bar in the chorus (or the last in the verses) has a sense of not being resolved, a loop, lending to the feeling that "I will ALWAYS be here for you," (Chorus) no matter what, Po! As a Prog Jazz guy, Miku is making me study words and how it is affected by the composition, Po! 🙃 Love song to the Maids, Po! 🦍🍌 Mr. B, 🙏
OOOO love this Mr B , think this will become one of my favourites . Well at work my work mates , one is off with lung problems and breathing also a damaged knee , one is off with a swollen prostrate , I have blood pressure problems and diabetes we are all 60 , the only healthy one is joe at 74 and he smokes roll ups and 10 black coffees with an espresso shot in them lol. I say lets keep rocking out while we all can . I will be at Lovebites in London soon . Take care Mr B .
Like the groove and feel. Less frantic. It will undoubtedly do what every Band-Maid song does -- grow on you. Got to break through to the mainstream market with a few cuts, right? Hopefully Bestie helps with that! Thx, Band-Maid! And thank you too, Mr. B! Stay well!!!!
I've had pneumonia and I can't get my lungs to clear up I've had to go back on an even more powerful steroid and still can't stop coughing and have trouble breathing and I wake up sweating every night and have to change my bed linen so I know how you feel. As for the song I like it even though it doesn't have any stand out parts but it's pretty good. I think it's going to take a while for them to get a handle writing songs in English because it will be a completely different construct but I get the feeling this song is dipping a toe in the water towards something else possibly an English album or switching to English language for a larger international audience who knows but they never stand still and love challenging themselves. Hope you begin to improve. Good luck.

I like Gary's artwork, as for the song, I've listened a few times & probably a bit controversial for us Maidiacs, but I thought it was just little dull and instantly forgettable. I love the band and everything they do but this one is not for me
Not everyone likes the same songs; nothing controversial and nothing wrong with that. I'm a BAND-MAID fan and I think they are a fantastic band but I scratch my head at the statements the community of Maidiacs sometimes comes out with, like "best band in the world"... 🤔; with tens of thousands of bands and hundreds of extremely talented ones at that, playing all sorts of different genres that concept is just meaningless drivel IMO. For me also this is definitely an outlier that doesn't grab me as much as most of their other songs.
@@maidsandmusesThank you for the dose of reality . The drivel part drives me crazy. John Lennon was always exasperated at the fuss people would make over The Beatles. What was true 60 years ago, still applies.
Saiki's voice makes me feel at peace with the world, i smile on the inside as well as outside.
Yes, what a great voice she has.
Fast becoming one of my favourite BM songs

Thank you for the reaction Mr. B. Love these mid-tempo songs from the band. Shout out to the vocals and lyrics to this song: beautiful stuff.
