Found a surprise baby Pleco in my tank Thursday! I was thrilled!!!! How he survived in my Tiger Bard tank is a mystery. I moved him into another tank and he's thriving! :-) Such fun having a new baby!!!
This video could not have come out at a better time. I'm about to set up a tank for this exact project. Thanks Michael!
I love your videos! Very informative! And your bloopers are great! Thank you so much! Need those giggles, Please don't stop!!!
Just checking in again from Ireland, great to see your keeping well mate. Thanks again for sharing 🙏🙌
thanks for the advice this will be super helpful just found loads of babys in my tank !
I have a orange bushynose and an albino pleco that have been cohabiting for a while now. Randomly peaked into the tank and I have spotted babies with a white stripe down the back fin and tail!! I am so excited to watch this process!!
lol I have L144s and it was literally a week and I noticed she was getting a lil beat up so I moved her, today was tank cleaning day…..found a surprise 😂🤣
Of all the videos I’ve watched on how to care for Bristle Nose pleco babies, this has been my favourite! Love your videos! Thank you for all your helpful advise. I now feel I have all the knowledge to hopefully raise a healthy bunch of unexpected Super Reds that are currently with dad in a large, open, fake log in my aquarium 🤷♀️ I’m so surprised, neither are very old, and he isn’t the best boyfriend from how I’ve seen him treat her, but he must be doing something right because he hasn’t even had to trap her! 😂
I just got some baby's they love woods and leaves also really good food thanks for sharing 👍
Congrats Michael! I’ve found not much difference in the breeding of bristlenose plecos when it comes to bristlenose plecos, but I do believe that it depends on the individuals. My albinos just had babies as well🙂🎉
I thought I saw a bunch of trumpets on the glass last night but nope, tons of LF super reds in my 40b!!
This video is very helpful, thank you! Unfortunately I did a waterchange prior to the discovery, and the light was off, so I may have lost some. But not going to dwell on what I can’t change.
Thank you again: they’re already eating the green beans, and they also seem to like when I break up the sera spirulina tabs. Not sure if they’re the best or not, but they eat them, lol.
Well done and congrats! Don't worry about a few you may have lost, if they bred once, they will bread again!
i have blue eye lemon pleco babies A.T.M and the love a mix of super green and spawn and grow repashy and are always grazing on the indian almond leaves i put in.
Love the subject, sorry to be getting to it late but a seam on my tank let go cleaning up.
As you have mentioned in other videos, so many "algae wafers" have very little algae in them. I'm very fond of Omega one algae wafers. Also New Life Spectrum. For protein I feed the Pleco bug bites. AND GREEN BEANS!!!!
Earl Grey - hot, while I am at work...
Hardest part of raising BN plecos is finding them all good homes. I have a bunch of babies I am growing out now. They are some of the cutest little things, but boy they have a lot of babies at a time.
That is why I sell them. I am always looking for stock....just saying.
Ha Ha... Love it. Have you ever thought of moving to Canada ? You would be an awesome neighbour. LOL. Cheers.
The Xtreme Big Fellas pellets my Bristlenose colony goes crazy for them. Try them out!
Remember, just because they like them does not mean they are good for them. I have never tried those, so that statement is not directed at Extreme.
I just got some of these. When i was cleaning my tank I found them, and it was mad scary, i didnt know what they were.
Great video. I wish I knew how to tell male and female apart better though. I have what I believe to be a M/F combo in two different tanks. I have provided a clay tube, but they never seem to care about it or each other....
Bristlenoses are easy to tell, it is all in the name. If you only have one cave, that maybe your issue. Watch my other videos on breeding
Great video and thank you my two just had a family what a nice morning suprise I thought they were the same sex well I was wrong
I have also just had a new batch of fry 3 days ago... all 23 of them :0) I leave mine in the tank with all the others and just feed as normal and they grow up just fine. None of my fish will eat green beans... I can only get them to eat Zucchini, Cucumber and Algae wafers made here in Melbourne.
@@MichaelsFishRoom Yes I've tried all sorts... canned, fresh, frozen etc etc..
I’ve never had much luck with Plecos but I think I’m ready to try them as a breeding project. You going to the fish swap May 14th in Coplay PA?
I want to breed blue eyes lemons so bad! First I’ll have to get more than 1 though 🤣
We just accidentally bred some in our Goldfish tank. Now we have lots of unexpected baby pleco fry.
I have an adult female and some juveniles I hope to breed eventually. They go nuts for blanched fresh green beans and zucchini! Your rant about California Black Worm is great, but I have the Hikari algae wafers and am curious why you advise against those too.
Not the best ingredients, they melt very fast and cloud the water. In addition there are many better choices.
I have some Green Dragon babies and they are picky little buggers. So far, they will only eat Zucchini. Will try the beans.
Do I need to blanch the French cut greens beans first? And if so, how do I do that
I just bought some Northfin kelp wafers based on your recommendation. Why don’t you like Hikari algae wafers though?
I brought a new (1 inch) Bristlenose pleco from the store yesterday and he is only swimming around and around on the glass, he is not finding the algae wafers at the bottom, any ideas what could be wrong?
You are watching. Drop a high quality wafer like NF or pellet from Dr. Bassleer, turn off the lights and walk away.
I have some very tiny bn plecos. How do I keep my fish from eating them? I have glo fish mollies and platys. Also a rainbow shark. I’m pretty sure my electric blue Jack Dempsey ( he’s the kind that stays small) eats them. Should I take the Dempsey out?
This isnt more about fry plecos, But with plecos in genreal how often and how much should i feed them. The sizes of the plecos are 4 one inches and 1 to incher.
If im not wrong i have to feed them each day, but how much.
Mainly with wafers or foods like that, with the vegtables im all good.
Great video
Depends on the food you are feeding and the type of Plecos. Generally, in a well established tank, once a day is plenty.
Off topic but have you tried dr Tim’s bacteria? Does it work and is it worth the money?
yes and not in my opinion. The only thing I would recommend is Fritz zyme 7.
@@MichaelsFishRoom thank you
I went cheap and tried tetra safe start (plus it was local and easy to get) since it had ingredients listed and for 8 bucks well what do you have to lose. I also heard dr Tim worked for marine land who bought tetra. Stability sucks. Fritz is on my list of things to try.
What if I separated the fry from the mother and its cave.
How soon should I start feeding them?
Hi, I am an Iranian and my English is not good, so I am using Translate. I hope I can ask my questions correctly. I have a pair of long-finned plant snout coats that I wanted to spawn yesterday. Should I put them in a 20 liter aquarium? Should I better strengthen them? If possible, tell me some important points that I can increase the number of them. I will give them food, cucumber, pumpkin and Artemia.
How do I get the furry eggs and dead ones out of my incubator?
@@MichaelsFishRoom thanks for the reply. And im sure I will find a way. Thanks again
Hey Mike first time ever spawning plecos are these foods still your go to or have you found new products?
@@MichaelsFishRoom ok well I ordered the food so I guess it’s French style green beans till it arrives
Hikari algae wafers are recommended so much by a lot of experienced breeders in my country. Do you guys think it is really not good?
@@MichaelsFishRoom thank you. However, in my country, I only can get pleco foods from some brands like hikari, tera, yee, jbl pleco and something like hulx piggy. Do you know these things? Which of them you consider the best choice for me?
I've had plecos and guppies die from using the Hikari Algae Wafers, it was a real bummer when I realized what was causing my fish to die off. This was a while ago and now I use the remains of the wafers to feed a snail bin.
The only Hikari thing I know of that isn't good.
Michael I can’t NOT ever get my Blue eyes to adult before they all croak. I’ve tested water, had the store test water, I’ve had others produce. But blue eye. Can’t get to adulthood
Everybody rants and raves about Hikari Vibro bites. I looked at the ingredients on it and I don't think they are that because the first ingredient is fish meal. Which is not a good ingredient at all. What are your thoughts on Hikari Vibro bites?
Some fish meal is IK, it depends on the grade. Hikari in general is mid grade at best.HEre is how I feel about the Vibra Bites. ua-cam.com/video/Fb5p8sHEXhE/v-deo.html
Dr. Bassleer Foods = the best commercially made foods on the market today .
What are some common reasons people lose a lot of their pleco fry apart from predators
Or you MIGHT get a mega cool spotted brown Pleco (like mine) with this simple math equation: 1 albino 👊+👈 1 calico = brown Pleco with light brown spots!
INFANTSTATION= A place you can park the kid in the stroller while you sneak off to the pub.
You should buy a gross of those Japanese cookies and include one per order. I know...it's a shekel thing. 🤣
Those fish behind you look crammed asf.
@@MichaelsFishRoom why not? They like being in 10-20 gallon tanks with no decor or substrate? Are they breeders? Or is that a pet shop you run were you sell em? I mean I thought fish like that needed 100 gallon tanks at least!
@@SYHOZHO One tank is a 50-gallon that gets 20% WC a day. The smaller tank is 20g and also gets 20 WC daily. You cannot keep anything in the tank with a FH, they will destroy it.
@@MichaelsFishRoom interesting! I’ve heard about them just newish to the hobby I have 2 angels, 2 balas, 7 albino bristle nose plecos, 1 sailfin spotted pleco couple different snail species, couple shrimp and few other goodies(guppies etc), all in my 80 gallon. I’m waiting for my tiger moray eel to show up on my doorstep this week! I just got a 125 gallon to switch everything over been cycling for a week now. All live plants and “aquascape themed” I’m really into that. I would never get a fish that can’t be with other fish or destroys everything sounds like the fish just isn’t fun lol maybe to you! Anywho have a good one my man!
P.s.p.s - I’ll be upgrading from 125 gallon to 150-200 just depends on the eel. Been a goal of mine to get this tiger eel. So stoked!!! I’ve been breeding plecos now and it’s a lot of fun. They produce so many fry! Have 6 tanks set up for that just recently got a female and male L046 so that’ll be fun!

My poor girl didn’t make it. Albino long fin. After three years today is a sad day.
I will be in the market for one of your soon.
I have to figure out if I should nuke my tank or try and wait out any illness that could be in the water 😭
