In this Part 6 we pre assemble the B5254T engine in order to find compatibility issues with all of the mixed parts on the engine, and iam glad i did do this because we found a whole lot of things that diddnt work together and some parts that needed modification.
During the edit I had a thunderstorm that took out the power to my computer and ruined most of my edit... So please keep that in mind when watching and remember to allways use autosave when doing 8+hours of editing... ;)

Yeah, its been a dream for me too but my life has allways been so busy that i never had the time for a big project like this. But now i have my own garage and can build at my own pace and combine it with my passion for filmmaking 👍 There will also be more focus on the "740 t5 swap" subject from now on :)

First to say, Great mechanicing, acting and eddeting, respect!!! Nice to see your videos and i hope to have the opertunity to have a similar project some day..... as a fellow volvo lover (at least you seem like one as wel). Then my question..... you did not jet explain the whole oil pan cutting, welding and changing thing as you said you would in the previous video (part 5).... i wonder why???? (I did not yet see the rest of video parts.... maybe the answer is there?) Regards D
Thanks Dennis! Yes, I do now realise that I did write that in the description... Rule no 1: Don't make promises on UA-cam... A hard one to learn.
And no there is no verbal explanation on how to do it yet, there is only the text in part 5 but even I can admit that that is a bit to short.
But luckily there is a plan to make ONE big video where i go through all of the swap related steps and do a recap of the build, talk about what has worked and not, what parts will fit and so on and i will probably put this in step that video. Thank you for pointing that out! //Backman

I would check piston rod bearings when you change the oil pan.

Which 5 pot would u recommend for tuning? Im trying to soruce myself a 740 to have as a project car
Well the biggest problem is the bore size on this engine (83mm) Bigger bore - thinner cylinder walls that crack. I would suggest a B5244T5 2005-> 81mm bore, you can run 400hp+ on stock bottom end no problem. //Backman

Geez, wondering why you dont have a electric torque wrench
Yeah, that would be nice to have. But a little steep in price for my tools budget. And I dont mind the mechanical click of a manual torque wrench 👌
But the automatic angle torque feature is something that i miss sometimes, the 360 manual gauge that i have to use now is 👎

@@BackmansGarage excuse me, I meant electrical impact wrench. I think a lot of stuff would be so much easier with one. especially those 400 oil pan bolts lol
Yes, that would be a nice addition to the tools collection aswell 😃
Currently I use a standard cordless drill with the torque limiter on and then torque the last bit by hand. And for bigger bolts and nuts I use compressed air tools.
And what I do on UA-cam isn't really the way i would work without the camera on. Alot has to do with sound and loud noises, they are a real pisser-offer when doing the editing. Getting a consistent volume through the entire video is really hard and loud noises often need manual adjusting in post in order to fit in with the normal speech. Imagine a 30min video full of loud noises from machines mixed with regular speech, a nightmare to edit.
So yeah, even if i had an impact wrench, I probably would not use it in the making of the videos.
Maybe i should do a behind the scenes video sometime to show how much there is to consider when making a decent garage video? Might do one of those once i get better at this, maybe in a year or so 😄 //Backman
