Melbourne cheap eats with a chef.

- I spent last weekend in Melbourne, a city I lived in for seven years and loved dearly. I thought I'd take you around some of my favourite cheap eats new and old. There's literally hundreds more places I would've loved to hit up but there's only so many meals I can eat one weekend!
I would really appreciate you hitting that like button if you enjoyed this one, and please subscribe if you haven't already.
Big Love.

Mate please whatever you do, don't change your style and production. What you have right now is so genuine and such a breath of fresh air
agree Andy is a real delight to watch so down to earth and no BS
Really just like how you’re honest about it bro. You like something you say it if it’s not for you, you say it. So much more real then hearing how great everything is from other food channels. Gives an honest opinion on what to try.
Thank you 🙏
@@andy_cooks Hi everyone,
"As some of you are aware our dog Bear was involved in an incident on our property on the 24th of March 2022. Our neighbour was banging/yelling at our front door for over 15 minutes and my room mate has opened the door and accidentally let him out, which has resulting in him biting the neighbours arm.. Bear has always been a fiercely protective dog towards his family and property. The council came shortly after this incident and took Bear where he has been kept over the past 14 days. Those who know Bear personally will know that he loves running, swimming at the beach, playing with his toys (and rocks..), having snuggles with his loved ones, and interacting with people - including children. We have been visiting him frequently, however our visits are non-contact and through a cage. This has been torture for Bear and he is not handling the situation well. In fact, on one of my previous visits with Bear he had two nails hanging off from him clawing at the cage trying to get out. On the 1st of April, we received a notice of destruction for Bear - a polite way of saying that they are killing him. We have been informed that we will not be allowed to have a contact visit prior to Bear being euthanised or be there when it occurs, so he will be scared and alone... Bear is only 5 years old and he has a family and home to come back to. We have 14 days to appeal this decision and we want to get all of Bear's family and friends involved by petitioning against this inhumane act. If it allows, please add comments on your time spent with Bear as this will be forwarded on to the Sunshine Coast Council for them to consider.
Thanks!" On Change.org Search: Save Bear from Death Row
🙏
@@jj..- so did you end up saving the dog?
@@eman4013 no they killed him
Yeah a real chef that knows his shit but your not trying to do a cooking show it comes off well.
Love how concise and nonchalant you are while still describing the food and flavor with fair critique. A breath of fresh air compared to a lot of other food channels.
I love that you just DIVE IN whatever you're eating. You're a man after my own heart. Eat like you mean it!
Thanks mate 🙏
Your cooking brings me peace. So in tuned and your passion for food come through in every video. Thanks man I appreciate u.
been watching all your videos for a year or so and absolutely love them. But, this one just turned up on the old algo, and what a nice surprise. As a person who calls footscray home, I love seeing nhu lan get the respect it deserves - keep it up Andy, you sir are the GOAT of food videos on the tube. Thanks mate
I don't think I would normally notice. But I noticed that this is some fantastic camera work. It's so comfortable and easy to watch.

Finally a real, down to earth and super honest food review! So glad you reviewed some hot spots in Melbourne too 👌🏼
Thanks so much!!
Andy's recipe for success; family, friends, food, fun. Enjoyable video!
Wow! Everything looked so delicious! What great places! Thanks so very much for taking us around with you, I feel like I'm there hanging out with you experiencing your wonderful trip, I really enjoyed it!
Well done ANDY welcome back to Melbourne I and many others really enjoy the way you present food I’m having to learn your ways
Hello Andy. Fan from Hong Kong. Just had an amazing trip in Australia! Your guide to the south market is definitely gold. I love all of the fresh Aussie produces, they are amazing!
Thank you.
Such a great watch. No BS. Loved every minute 😀
Much appreciated!
This channel is gonna blow up soon, the vibes and food are on point.
Thanks!
These type of videos suits you well, nice to see something new!
You rock Andy.
Love your content and would love to visit Australia some day. I live in Ontario Canada.
Thanks for the videos you put out and you help me with my cooking skills I bring to the table for my family, guests and friends every single day.
Cheers!
Your love of food and eating is truly infectious!! 🙏🏻💗🍕🥗🍣🥘🥟
Thanks 🙏
@@andy_cooks epic channel lad. hope you and family not vaccinated bruz.
Thanks chef for the great recommendations. I came to Melbourne to catch the cricket.. just at South Melbourne Market - the gozleme and pastries as Agathe.. really enjoyed ourselves.
Andy you make a fellow Kiwi so hungry. I lived in Melbourne from 2000-2003, loved it
your videos have helped me out of a dark place and rekindled my love for food and cooking again. Thank you, Andy.
I've seen you on Instagram and now you're being suggested to my UA-cam and I couldn't be happier! Really refreshing to see you bounce from suburb to suburb in one video, it's cool to see shoutouts to places close to me but the balance between what's close to home and further away makes me want to try said things further away more! (If that makes sense 😂) it's easy to stick to what you know, so seeing recommendations of places you recognise mixed with new ones is really cool and a great way to promote exploration of Melbourne (especially the west ;) )
My boy can eat! Bro you absolutely need to do more of these please!!!!
Watching you enjoy the cold cut ham sandwich made me so happy to see you eat my people’s food! Such an entertaining video too! I’m a fan! 💗🙌
Geezus, you make me wanna hop on a plane from NYC over to Melbourne JUST to retrace your culinary steps! Haha! Well done! Made me super hungry!
You should!
OMG, Thats a 24 Hour flight!! LOL! Looks so worth it though! When I go, I'm staying for at least 2 weeks! Thanks again!
@@SuperWittleGuy it's 100% worth the flight. But like you said you want at least 2 weeks if not more to make it worth it
@@ITFC45 two weeks for melbourne defo, its not sydney, in melbourne you need to stay for a while to appreciate and truly explore it. Sydney you can pretty much cover most things in 3-4 days.
You love to cook and you love to eat!!! And you do a nice walk-a-bout!!! I like it!!! If you ever get tired of walkin'upside down; come to the Netherlands, we'll hang out!!!!
This was such a nice foodie tour of Melbourne. Thank you chef 🙌🏾 Love from NYC!
Aaahhh I miss Melbourne life and the food culture, alway in my heart ❤️
I love to watch Andy EAT!!!!
as someone who is in melb it's surreal seeing you going to places I go quite frequently ☺️ hope u find some time to come back soon and introduce more great places to eat 😋
Its a great day when a crossiant is that fresh 👌👌👌
Nice work Andy....you ended up visiting alot of our favourite cheap eats as well
Great video! I really appreciate that you don't 'ooh' and 'ahh' after each bite. It's cool how you get the experience of the places you are visiting through a few quick bites, one after the other... fabulous!
This Gozleme is the best of the world. Love these women so bad. So glad to see them here. St Ali as well!!! I had a brunch there 3 years ago that I cannot get over.
First time visiting your channel and love the content mate!!
Similar story with me. Moved to the Sunny Coast from Melbourne after 37 years there. The only thing I miss about Melbourne is the food. Everywhere you went, there was amazing food. Up here it's hard to find a place that is consistent with their food considering the availability of good produce up here. I'm interested to hear your recommendations on a good quality Chinese restaurant up here too, because we are still yet to find one. Will even travel to Brisbane or the Gold Coast to try it!
Keep up the videos. Loving them!!
Great content again Andy, I took my wife to St Ali 18 Jun 22 for brunch to try what Andy had and OMG, what a palate explosion of flavour.... and who should be there, but Andy himself. No intrusion on my part, but how freaky
Unreal content mate keep it love the shorts now these Videos 👍👍👍👍
Thanks 🙏
Love your vids - please keep them coming! Best wishes from London
Thank you! Will do!
Howdy Andy! this video was awesome :D I did the reverse to you last year and moved TO Melbourne from the sunshine coast haha. Absolutely love it here, the food culture is amazing.
Just wanted to drop in and let you know that I checked out Juicy Bao tonight and oh my goodness... six hours later and I'm still thinking about those soup dumplings, hands down my favourite. already planning my next excuse to go again. thanks for all these hot spot suggestions! going to be making my way to south Melbourne in the next few weeks hopefully and I'm really keen to check out some of the places you pointed out here :D.
As soon as you said "Footscray bahn mi" I knew where you were going. Always been the go-to spot in western suburbs.
I recommend grabbing a pork puff or two from there as well. Super flakey, buttery pastry filled with juicy pork and onion. two of those, bahn mi and a Nippy's milk.. hard to beat!
I haven’t even watched this part of the video as yet … but it has to be Nu Lan.
We have been going there for almost 20 years … best Banh Mi and we also buy the flaky pork puff pastries.
volcano hot bread in resivior make the best bahn mi
I drove past there today...30-35m line
@@hdmccart6735 It moves pretty quick. The ladies in their pump those rolls out
Best bahn mi ever. ❤️
8:20 - thank you for showing us that 'pull-apart', so lovely! 🤤
Thanks for the Juicy Bao recommendation! Just finished lunch. Soup dumplings were awesome!
Love your content, much love from SriLanka ❤
Thank you 🙏
Andy, it was a pleasure watching you eat all those different food after always watching you cook different dishes. I don’t know how you ate it all for us, but I thank you for your sacrifice. Sacrifice is a stretch, but whatever
Love how chill this video is, please do more travel food vlogs!!!
That Rhubarb Turnover looks amazine! Looks like some great eats!
Can we have more of these food vlogs? Awesome vibes
First time watching your videos found you on your story. Love your honest approach to food and cooking also how real you are haha. Also danm you can eat mateee
Andy its great to see you eating and enjoying it .. nice change frm jst cooking and making videos ! Enjoy mate
Some new places here for me, thank you!
I already love the Sth Melbourne market gozleme and St Ali is always great.
Man i enjoyed that food tour hahaha! Thanks andy!
Yes! And the best man to fill the shoes our beloved Bourdain is.......
Thanks so much for this content! ❤
Great video. I'd love to see more longer stuff like this from you.
Agree with you on Agathe croissants. Bette than some other places that are more hyped. Though on monday mornings Patricia’s in the CBD do crazy good pain au chocolat.. apparently one of their coffee suppliers used to be a pastry chef and only does one batch a week just for them.. just crazy good layered pastry.. best I’ve ever had. If you’re up that end of town on a Monday morning I highly recommend it!
It was great to spend the day with you keep up the great work hope to see more videos like this
Loved this video. Would be awesome to see more!
Looking forward to a take two of Melbourne eats!
this dude is a freaking natural !!! also v satisfying big bites 😤 love these vids !
Thank you 🙏
Just found your channel, love it. No nonsense build up that takes forever, you've reviewed so many foods that others would've broke down into 15 episodes. Great work!
The moment I saw this dude outside Juicy Bao, its clear he knew what's up 👌
Great Video, I normally can't stand food review channels, yours are amazing!
Thanks for all the great tips. I live the beach end of Coventry St. So will be trying you recommendations. Cheers Rod
Nice! I enjoyed the longer form content
Glad you enjoyed!
Andy, can’t believe you love Neh Lan Footscray and Graceland, brilliant!
love this!
Hey Andy, loving your video and already tried a couple of your recipes. Keep up the great content.
Chef, I can't believe you ate all that food. I was stuff to my gills (I really don't have gills). But I was stuff just watching you. You have some appetite. Thank you for showing us Melboure, Australia.
Excellent mate- I’m at South Melbourne market every weekend and you’re right - best place to get food 🤘
Andy I love Loukoumades so much, so many great places in Melbourne to eat them! Keep up the great work :)
I just went to Agatha Patisserie best pain au chocolaut of my life thanks so much for the recommendation
Wow Andy! Although everything looked super delicious, I would have gotten so sick. I couldn't have found the space in me to do that in such a short period of time. Those reviews would have taken me about two weeks to do. Kudos to you!!! That being said, I can't wait to go to Melbourne.😋🤤
Chefs are always on their feet running about. So they burn quite a lot of calories over a working day
Review from a professional chef is as equal to online lecture for management and food students 🛐😅
Thank you!
Dude just discovered your channel. I remember seeing your short videos a few months ago. Good to see you exploring Footscray. My old hometown. Banh Mi at Nhu Lan was my morning go to before work.
Mate! Next time you go back to south Melbourne market you’ve gotta get the fish in bread on the corner near the gozleme. Absolutely unreal! They also sometimes do a clam chowder that is out of this world.
You are both so slim, well done particularly being a chef.
Yoo South Melbourne represent! You forgot to try that spanish place next to the gozleme place in the south melbourne market. They have the best paella on the weekends.
I found this video kind of relaxing to watch
You are my food kindred spirit!!!!
The best churros I've ever had were at the flea market in Salinas, California. In the states, Krispy Kreme reigns king in the donut world, imo. However, you can find mom and pop donut shops that have their own spin and are equally as good, if not better.
Here in Georgia, US, buttermilk pie was common back when my husband and I were dating, somewhat of a custard pie.
We also have a restaurant that serves grits fritters, soooooo good!!!
Really enjoyed this video 😊
Love it!! thank you!
There is 1 Krispy Kreme in Ontario, Canada and it is always a minimum 2 hour line AT ANY GIVEN POINT ANY TIME OF THE YEAR PANDEMIC OR NOT. Krispy Kreme is BOMB.
I gotta add too that point about mom and pop donut stores because there are three in my town that all offer unique tastes even tho it’s the same thing it’s crazy! And they are very cheap
The best churros are in Spain. Lived there for 5 years.
@@RandomlnternetGuy there’s more than one in Ontario. But you’re right, there’s always a line up for that over sweetened Krispy Kreme. Give me Tim Hortons any day
You know its good when he makes that little noise after a bite .... lol
Man, you should let me treat you to Southern Barbecue, here in the Southeast United States...especially Florida Barbecue.
I would love to!
Love your perspective on food, as a young chef myself ;)
Ohhhhh Andy .. That food was spectacular looking n your description made me feel I was there sampling with you .. I even feel I am stuffed with all that Deliciousness ❣❣ I am still craving the dim sum ..
Ur misso gets the best food. Ur so easy to watch ❤️
that banh mi looked amazing!
Dude again omg.yummy..A food trip..😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
I'm full just watching you eat at the food trucks! 😂
I live in montreal and I just watched your Melbourne tour it was great
Love that you stopped by Candied - it’s my local! Next time, you must try their Philly Cheesesteaks - incredible! 👌
8:30 when you bit into that croissant, I actually went "holy shit that sounded so good". Gotta give it a try soon. Agathe Patisserie!
HAHAHAHAH
@@andy_cooks next time you go, please try the pandan croissant-it’s so good!!
Update: best croissant I've had to date! Had pastry there twice since I wrote this comment.
ST ALI looks preetty good! Can't wait to check it out
Imma go to Melbourne and follow this food course!!!
love the south Melb markets, only been there a few times "live in WA" great reviews Andy..
You are making me miss Melbourne
a man of culture
the pace of this video is insane food, after food, after good
It all looks amazingly good. I too prefer my Ethiopian blend coffee.
Great content! Watched while I am fasting… hard work 😂
I've got a Giulia Veloce! Great choice :)
