Chub rolls are cheaper by the pound if you buy by the case, provided you have the freezer space or if you are able to buy that much at one time. We consume a lot of ground beef and it made more sense to pay $3.25 a pound for 90/10 instead of $3.78.
Thank you so much for saying that it’s okay to buy the meats that one can afford!! Sometimes I feel so shamed by people who say you should ONLY BUY grass fed, organic, pastured meats. Not all of us can afford those meats but we still want to be healthy. I appreciate you❤
I would never be the Carnivore Food Police. You do you. That is how I feel. I shop the manager specials at the end of the night at my store (I work at ShopRite). Some ppl get on me for shopping for expiring meat. It is not expired yet. I buy it, cook it up either that night or the next day. It is perfectly good. I do that witth other products at the store too - Just because it says “Sell Through” doesn’t mean it is expired. It means we can’t sell it past that date because of the FDA or USDA rules. My family is healthy and happy. You do you.
Careful of the shrimp, anything from the Far East is a huge "no-no" they're "farmed" in basically "cess pools" or "sewage ponds," so they are fed heavily GMO and antibiotic feed to combat the bacteria I stick with locally "wild caught" shrimp. As far as the "pre-made frozen" hamburger patties, our Sam's has the Sirloin and the Grass Fed pre-made, 18 and 15 patties respectfully, both have one ingredient...sirloin or grass fed beef...yes, the "Angus" pre-made patties have the list of ingredients you spoke of.
New subscriber here that is carnivore.. I used to get meat at sams club until I found a grocer that sells prime rib roasts and NY strip roasts. Buy a roast and cut into steaks yourself will save you a TON of money. Prime rib roast in my area in Oklahoma runs @$8.89/lb. I can typically get 22 rib eye steaks from 1 roast. That alone is $6/lb savings! Also, skirt and flank steak are high heat fast sear cuts. I use my air fryer set to 400 degrees for couple min on each side. Cut AGAINST the grain to get the meat tender. Try some beef short ribs for a quick tastey treat. Bake at 350 for 20-25 min. I also make beef tenderloin chips for my snacks. Just go beyond the jerky stage in your dehydrator. Keep up the great content😊
I’m transitioning into carnivore from keto and I got a Sam’s Club membership recently. This video is super helpful! Packed with tons of great information. And had to just compliment your skin, you are glowing!
Beef Cheeks are used to make barbacoa, typically smoked, then confit cooked until very tender. It is awesome. You can also cook the tongue the same way but it is very lean. The tongue is sometimes called Lengua. Can just be slow-cooked in a crock pot. It can be cooked with the cheeks also and mixed together.
#Texas- the H‑E‑B down in the valley would sell Barbacoa by the pound, they had both cheek and tongue to choose from. Then I learned how to make it myself.
I have seen lengua and barbocoa on mexican menus I knew what Lengua was cause I looked it up. But when you look up Barbacoa up it just says its different cuts of meats from different animals. It never says its cheek meat.
Not being critical but your local butcher is selling the same meat. Any other store has. Comes in a big 60 70 80 90 lb. Cases comes from the same compan ies. He just dresses us up to make you think he's got a cow out back that he just butchered
@@crae1972 wow! My bad. I didn't know a place like that even existed. Well you got a gold mine there. I would definitely get my meat from there no doubt!
Picked up a package of Choice Ribeye at my Costco in Georgia 30 minutes ago and the everyday price has been lowered to $10.99/lb...down from $12.99/lb last week. Also picked up a 5lb bag of frozen 100% Grass-Fed 80/20 pre-made burgers for $24.79.
Costco has the cleanest turkey deli meat I've found. The Dietz and Watson originals organic roasted turkey breast. Ingredients: turkey water, salt and vinegar. Delicious!
5+ years and you're doing amazing! 5-year Carnivore here as well. You guys are an inspiration. Great video today. I don't have a Sam's Club account but I will consider getting one now. That's some nice looking cuts.
I had cow's tongue several times in my childhood...tender and delicious, love it. You have to "clean" it before you actually eat it, I believe you boil it so that to tenderize the outer skin of the tongue. Then, you scrape or cut off that outer layer to get to the delicious tender meat. My Mom knew how to cook it perfectly.
I hope ppl don’t come for you! I mean you’re 5 years in and doing AMAZING! I love your do what you can afford attitude. This is one of the most important things you said when I first became a subscriber. I knew then I would always be able to trust your advice and build what works for me based off your knowledge. I’m lucky to be here and excited to continue. Almost 3 years watching you now. 🥩❤️🥩
Thank you!!! I absolutely LOVE being able to watch your videos then go shopping at stores that are actually in my area. And I love being able to do something because you let us know that carnivore can be affordable. It’s not just for the 1% it’s for everyone even on a budget. You literally are a life saver. Keep up the videos we need realistic videos that are budget and time friendly. God Bless!!
Oh yes Sam’s Club quit selling the good pork rinds in a big jug and made a members mark brand that wasn’t very good. We had to start getting baken-ets at Dollar General because neither Wal-Mart or Sam’s club offer the traditional style which is just pork skins and salt all the other flavors have msg etc.
I don’t eat your diet but really enjoy your videos. Everyone should do what makes them feel best and I love how you are passionate about it and help people who have the same interests find solutions. We all need this kind of community and positivity.
It seems that negative comments appear on everyone’s channel. It hurts your feelings, but know that you are not being singled out for all the criticism. Those folks seem to have enough to share with many channels.
Great video, thank you, Laura! We don't have a Costco here so we've only had a Sam's Club membership for years. One tip for larger families - we have a couple deep freezers and we buy the meat in cases, it cuts down on the price a bit. We're a big enough family that I don't need to pre-portion the chubs of beef, chicken, or pork loin because we'll go through each one fast enough. I just thaw one at a time to use.
I buy the rotessire chicken, remove the meat vacuum foodsaver and in the freezer it goes. Keep the bones for soup. I buy 4 at a time, a 1/3 of the price of raw chicken, it's already cooked. You have much more of a meat selection than we do here at my Sam's in MI.
I love watching your grocery hauls from Sam's & Costco. I still haven't gotten a membership - but you're nudging me closer to doing so. Thank you for sharing.😊
Thank you so much for teaching about the "choice" and the "select" meat!!! Never would've known! We bought some steak last week and it was very chewy... Still ate it though! It was probably select 🙄 lol
I just did a Sam's run the other day. Mine had $8 off each package of ribeyes. Yay! Prime is worth it if you can get there early enough to get the yellow label meat. BTW - Costco has bacon crumbles, too. I put them in/on everything.
Beef cheeks cooked low and slow can be made similar to pot roast it has alot of collagen and has the same stickiness that ox tails have. Mexicans make barbacoba light garlic, a bay leaf or 2 some onion and put it in the Crock pot.
My mother loved tripe. It's cow stomach lining. Yum, right! She steamed it and cut it into small pieces. Buttered, salt, and pepper. Said it tasted better than pasta!!! Yeah!
I ordered some LMNT. Thank you Laura! And you’re so pretty. 🌼 so happy for you and your husband’s path to be healthier and sharing it with us on UA-cam.
I tried my first packet of LMNT today, the Citrus Salt in 32 oz of water. First few sips were salty, but after that it’s like my body was craving it. Looking forward to trying the other flavors.
Love your videos on how you feed your family. My husband and I are ranchers so we eat a lot of beef and sometimes I buy beef at the grocery store when our freezer is low or out. Anytime you buy beef, you help ranchers make a living -- no matter where you buy it. I'd love a video on how you use your griddle. We just bought one this winter and so far, it's great. Bacon, burgers, steaks, eggs, we love it all on the griddle.
Thanks for telling us it supports ranchers even if we buy at the stores. I wantedvto be more supportive and buy from the farmer or rancher. Glad it still supports them no matter where we buy it from.
I appreciate your "down to earth" advice. Its great if people can afford to buy more expensive cuts but we can't afford that so truly appreciate your videos. Thank you!.
Thank you so much Laura for the comment about buying direct from the farmer. I do only by direct from my Farmer I actually got to raise my own food for about 10 years on 40 acres my dream was the homestead. I totally understand what you're doing and I so appreciate you giving all the information and your sweet genuine attitude you are amazing I so enjoy following you and your family I had autoimmune disease when I was in my twenties part of the reason I think I am so diligent about only eating grass fed and again because I can get it so local and have for 20 years and raw milk that's part of my Regiment of keeping healthy at almost 60 years old I'm told I look 10 years younger and it works for me but I totally totally I so appreciate you saying that today. I am so encouraged by your health journey and how healthy your family is on the carnivore diet and you sticking to your budget and so on. Keep up the good work I so enjoy your channel you are one of my favorite UA-camrs formation point
Love the grocery haul videos. We do not have a Sam's or a Costco in our town. We have to drive about 45 minutes to shop at either store and it is a lot of traffic so we just shop usually at a Kroger in our town but we used to go to Sam's a lot.
I want to thank you. I work to put my kids through there activities and as they get older, they get more expensive. Def can’t afford farm butcher on a reg basis. Been watching you for what seems like a year and been on keto off/on since 2018. You have given me wonderful recipe and ideas (my fave is the poor man’s burnt tips) and have lost so much weight. If I’m feeling cheaty… I watch your videos to keep motivated! So thank you!!
For my Sam's they do their meat mark downs on Mondays and Wednesdays. I used my plus membership to get in first thing on a Monday or Wednesday once a month to stock up.
Oh those chili pork rinds were so tart. I love chili lime flavoring but those made my cheeks pucker. I didn’t think to dip in sour cream. I’m sure that mellows them out.
In Mexican tradition we use cheek and tongue for barbacoa. Tradition is to place it under ground pit and leave for hours. We just put it in the slow cooker for 12 hours at a low heat filled with water and spices. Then shred it in the morning when it is usually the time we eat it “breakfast”. Tripe is used in a Mexican dish called “tripas” which cleaned out then boiled then grilled. Also the honey comb tripe can be used in a Mexican dish called “menudo” which is boiled with Mexican chilis to your hit taste. Usually add hominy but can be made without it for carnivore.
I really appreciate how you purposefully show the "ideal" product (like Irish butter) and then select the regular kind. The common narrative is that grass fed or organic is the only option we should consider, but that's too expensive sometimes! Thank you.
Making barbacoa tacos out of beef cheeks or a mix with beef tongue is really simple and delicious. Simple ingredients and cooked in a crockpot. Traditionally served in a tortilla(of course you can use carb smart or even the carnivore cheese shells) with a little chopped onion, cilantro, a squeeze of lime juice, and salsa optional. Plenty of videos here on UA-cam.
I've noticed that ALL The carnivore shopping seems to be done at Costco, but that's about 40 minutes away from us and Sam's Club is right next to us. So thank you for this! And as excited as you are about the scan and go, which is amazing, especially if you've already looked in the app and saved it before you even got there, they are also going to make it to where you can walk out the door without someone checking your receipts soon! And you will walk through something that automatically does it.
Wow!!! Thank you so much for doing the Sam's club!! Been considering this it's the only one we have in our area and this hit the spot!! So helpful and came at the right time! Please show us grilling tips for the griddle got one of those too!!!! Thanks for all your help 🙏
Hi Laura!! We love watching all your videos. Thank you 🎉 Thank you!! Carnivores since last July and it is.... absolutely ...amazing how much healthier we are now Shocking. Thanks for helping us make great choices and save a ton of money while shopping. And the flanken style ribs at Sam's Club really are delicious aren't they!! Hey from Tucson!! Sprouts has something new I found lately the "Rib Rack" bag of pork rinds with sea salt. They are so gooood😅😊 I'll stock up next time when they go on sale. You and your husband helped my husband get rid of the sleep apnea CPAP machine! Yay! God Bless You!!
Love your videos! Love that you make carnivore feel budget friendly. So many videos emphasize grass fed ands make you feel like eating Sam's meat it going to kill you. Thank you for showing us this can be done without breaking the bank.
WOW, just discovered your Vids! Super awesome! I totally agree, you can't eat super high end all the time! We do prime once in a while but most of the time were are doing "Choice" also. You're prices there look great too! I am "trapped" in CA and it's insane..haha, HELP!!
I like to parallel someone waiting in line to check out and do my scan and go. Then I grin and show them my barcode on my phone and head for the door. I've made some converts doing that.
Pork country ribs are cut/sliced from the deboned shoulder you spoke of for smoking or roasting for pulled pork. Beef tongue and cheek meat both are popular with Mexicans for making barbacoa which is the world's best taco filling. Both used to be super cheap in the 1990s before so many immigrants. I pressure cook them as I do pork shoulder for pulled pork.
Hi Laura I just finished watching your first YT video you are an inspiration I love your honesty about your struggle with food I went full carnivore 2 weeks ago and have lost 11 lbs I was on ketovore for 2 years and lost 50 lbs but stalled for 6 months keeping carbs down to 0 to 10 grams per day my Dr told me she wants me to be between 165 to 170 lbs which is my ideal weight range 25 lbs to go
I buy one a week of Sam’s Beef Cheek. I cook it slow and low in oven or in crock pot overnight. I only use salt for seasoning. It’s the most tender, best beef flavored beef I have ever eaten. I will never buy a roast again. I make taco bowls, I mix pork rind noodles, (ketogenic women) recipe, I use beef shank broth w my beef cheek and pork rind noodles for a soup that is so delicious. Yum. Can go wrong. Use it anywhere you use ground beef or roast.
Tripe is the lining of one of the cow’s stomachs. I have had beef cheeks before, cook low and slow. They have more collagen than anything else I have found.
Beef tongue and cheek needs to be cooked slowly over several hours and is really good. Honey comb tripe is used for the Mexican dish of menudo! It’s really good! Sam’s is really catering to the Hispanic/Mexican clientele!
OMG! I love the Scan and Go. Idk why people are still standing in line. I totally agree Costco needs to get with the times. They’re thinking is probably they want you to have the cashier interaction. I don’t care about that I want in/out quickly 😂
In seriously thinking about a carnivore lifestyle. Your videos have really inspired me and I’ve learned so much about the different cuts of meat. Everything looks so delicious and I’m ready to go shopping. I live in an apartment with limited kitchen space, I have an air fryer but no access to a smoker or barbecue. I need some help finding tasty ways to cook steak and other cuts of meat. Can you give me some ideas?
I keep things really simple-season the steaks/pork chops with a seasoning blend that my local butcher makes in house, cube the meat and cook it in a frying pan on the stove top with butter and avocado oil (I’m more ketovore than pure carnivore at this point). Cook on medium, for just a few minutes. Sometimes I get crazy and throw mushrooms with the meat while cooking lol. This is my go to cooking method for steaks 🙂
Just stumbled across this video. I was just in Poland and a traditional food is beef cheeks. Super tender and juicy-- almost like a pot roast cut of beef. I highly recommend!!
Thank you so much for your videos! I Learn a lot from you. Just trying to get up the courage to take the plunge and go all in. Dr. Berry says you can do keto/carnivore with hot dogs an bologna if that’s all you can afford so don’t mind the haters :-)
I found brisket at Sam's Club for $2.28 per pound. Needless to say, I bought a couple. I'm learning how to smoke on my grill so I will be grilling soon.
Given what they are saying they are going to inject in meats i skip Costco and Walmart and buy from local beef ranchers. Thank you for the information and discount for LMNT. I'm finding the fruity samples and so far like citrus salt and plain.
The Beef Cheeks are typically used for barbacoa. That is the more aunthentic Mexican way of making barbacoa.I make mine in the Instapot and I only add a couple cloves of garlic, salt and a couple of bay leaves to that pack that you find at Sams. My family loves tacos and all we add is chopped onions and cilantro along with a salsa.
beef cheeks are good for beef barbacoa, but you can just slow cook them in a crock-pot or even the oven. I love tri-tip too, it's my fav of all the cuts. And the real bacon bits I use in carnivore quiche. Delicious!
I had no idea Sams club had that much variety! Hummm and what a great haul of meats ! The big tub of pork rinds have been deleted at Costco but that doesn’t mean they won’t be back ! They just make room for new stuff then bring those back ! Thanks for sharing this haul ! Food for thought 🤣
I get out my meat grinder and add tongue, cheek, liver, etc to my ground beef to eat nose to tail. One package lasts a long time so have your freezer bags ready.
I'm here in Arizona also, my parents and I can't find the tubs of pork rinds at Sams or Costco for a couple of months. They both now carry the 4505 Tajin. 😢

Tripe is cow stomach. I know it as the main ingredient for Menudo (soup). If done well, it is very tasty.
At Sam's Club they now have Grass-Fed Beef Burgers is the frozen section where the only ingredient is Grass-Fed beef.😁
I've bought them, very yummy !!😊
We grind up pork rinds and add to our meatloaf substituting for bread crumbs.
Omg I'm doing this 😂 Great tip, thanx ❤

Love the grocery haul videos. We do not have a Sam's or a Costco in our town. We have to drive about 45 minutes to shop at either store and it is a lot of traffic so we just shop usually at a Kroger in our town but we used to go to Sam's a lot.
Thank you for showing what your kids eat. I’m a mom of 5 and it encourages me and gives me ideas.
You’re my inspiration and you’re funny too! From one Laurie to a Laura - thanx!!!
If your kids enjoy sausage and bacon for breakfast, you should try the hatch chili breakfast chicken kiolbassa. It’s a favorite in our house.
So with you....Sam's Club swipe & go is awesome! Costco is behind the times on that one BIG time!!!
We tried the Pitmaster Seasoned Pulled Pork and love it, thanks for mentioning that!!
Thanks for explaining the Select, choice label.
🎉🎉 I live in Arizona as well!! Very encouraged!!! Little by little working on going back to carnivore:) thanks ! I shop at Sam's club as well!!
Thank you Laura Spath for this informative Video.❤❤
Tripe is the stomach lining. The plains Indians had dried Tripe squares as a staple (from Bison).
Great respect for you and your husband
Laura! Find a good hole in the wall Mexican food place and order menudo (it has tripe!) and lengua (beef tongue) tacos. Both items are so delicious!
The frozen burger patties in the blue bag don't have any additives. Only the red bag.
Yep! And the charbroiled burgers that you cook in a bit of water in skillet and they are fantastic
I like to parallel someone waiting in line to check out and do my scan and go. Then I grin and show them my barcode on my phone and head for the door. I've made some converts doing that.
Beef cheeks are LIFE. Slow cook or braise them, but cook them low and slow. They're incredible.
Hi Laura I just finished watching your first YT video you are an inspiration I love your honesty about your struggle with food
I went full carnivore 2 weeks ago and have lost 11 lbs I was on ketovore for 2 years and lost 50 lbs but stalled for 6 months keeping carbs down to 0 to 10 grams per day my Dr told me she wants me to be between 165 to 170 lbs which is my ideal weight range 25 lbs to go
Yes, Laura, Costco needs to get on board with scan and go ❤
Beef cheeks are used for barbacoa. I smoke mine first then braise it in my Dutch oven in a birria sauce. Makes great tacos
I watch your videos before I shop at Sam’s or Costco. Thank you 🎉
I buy one a week of Sam’s Beef Cheek.
Wow thx for the tip
Always Enjoy your videos.
Batman Now Because Of Caveman Diet.
Tripe is the lining of one of the cow’s stomachs. I have had beef cheeks before, cook low and slow. They have more collagen than anything else I have found.
Thank you Laura!
Sam’s club haul plus recipes from that haul please! Would love to see you shop then go home and cook that food that week!
Fortunately Costco in the Coachella Valley, CA, has self-checkout that really speeds things along on busy days.
@@GearMaven oh yes our Costco has self check out but still can be slow at times.
Always scan and go!!!
Chef Buck meat cooking videos are great...small apartment cooking, simple but delicious!
Tripe is what you would find in menudo. We grew up eating that along with cow tongue and cheek as barbacoa for tacos.
Yes, LOVE the Scan & Go, Costco should get on board! Thanks for your videos.
Scan and Go!! Yes! I hate that Costco doesn't do this! And, like you, I shop at both places.
Just stumbled across this video. I was just in Poland and a traditional food is beef cheeks. Super tender and juicy-- almost like a pot roast cut of beef. I highly recommend!!
If you souvenir the tough cuts they won’t be so tough. Also those are usually marinaded for carne asada in lemon which breaks down the meat fiber.
Cheek can be tough but cooks down into a buttery stew. Smoked cheeks makes the best brisket-style cuts.
Thank you so much for your videos! I Learn a lot from you. Just trying to get up the courage to take the plunge and go all in. Dr. Berry says you can do keto/carnivore with hot dogs an bologna if that’s all you can afford so don’t mind the haters :-)
LAURA!!!! WILL YOU SHARE YOUR CHAFFLE RECIPE???
I found brisket at Sam's Club for $2.28 per pound. Needless to say, I bought a couple. I'm learning how to smoke on my grill so I will be grilling soon.
These unique cuts must be specific to your region. None of our Sam’s Club’s here in Tennessee or where I lived in southern Indiana had these.
This video is awesome! I just went to Sam's the other day. Thanks for sharing. I will try some of your choices. Everything looks so delicious!
beef cheeks are good for beef barbacoa, but you can just slow cook them in a crock-pot or even the oven.
Yes the Swipe N Go and the early hours for the premium membership are hands done the primary reasons I use Sams Club.
WoW! Meat is soo expensive. I haven't looked at the store, until recently. Were grass- fed Angus beef farmers...
I get out my meat grinder and add tongue, cheek, liver, etc to my ground beef to eat nose to tail. One package lasts a long time so have your freezer bags ready.
This was BIG BIG BIG help, thank you
I'm here in Arizona also, my parents and I can't find the tubs of pork rinds at Sams or Costco for a couple of months. They both now carry the 4505 Tajin. 😢
Thanks for sharing! I love your videos and your ideas, it gives me ideas since I just started. 😃
The pork rind bag with the seasoning …. Is great!! Happy to know Sams Club sells it.
Beef cheeks is what is used in traditional Mexican barbacoa. Slow cooked for 10 hours is very tender high fat. Delicious
