some observations i've made messing around with this: - link appears to be able to use R to boost while swimming, but no animation plays for it. you can see this best in 2d underwater segments - rupees cannot be dropped until zelda becomes the player character - i suspect link's entire key items page is fake. the 500 rupees definitely aren't real - link can't execute the item get animation from picking up an item in the overworld, so heartpieces, upgrade materials, and the first freestanding rupee collected for each rupee tier will not get added to your inventory. subsequent freestanding rupees will be collected normally though - link can't view the ingredients menu, only by selling can you see what you have - link can bottle fairies, although since it's an overworld pickup the cutscene for catching a fairy will fail to play - buying a potion unlocks access to the drinks tab for link. this also lets you see how many rupees you're actually carrying. no idea why this works but not the ingredients page - link can get heart pieces from shops, though his heart piece tracker in the menu will remain empty. getting the heart piece recalculates your max health, so link's heart containers will be set to the amount zelda has. leaving the room will cause them to be set back to 20, but your current health is not restored - link can't rest, mount, or check points of interest, and instead just pulls bombs - some animations that would cause link to put away his held equipment in link's awakening don't seem to anymore? i.e. swimming, climbing ladders - link's face doesn't emote at all
I tested this myself actually. I was curious as to if Link could visit any rifts that were baked into the game after the prologue. It was interesting, being able to visit Stilled Suthorn Ruins as Link. Obviously, you need certain Tri Rod abilities to get through dungeons… but it’s actually quite functional otherwise! Modding for the game will definitely be able to help make Link just as powerful as Zelda is in the main game when people get around to it! I’m hoping that happens sooner, rather than later.

The fact that link has an animation for sitting on a horse is actually pretty astonishing. Clearly he was never designed to be sitting on a horse but I guess maybe they used the same object code for his animations as they did for zelda

I think the best way to do this, start game and save as link, then play the game as zelda with auto save until you are at the very end, then do glitch. Im super curious to see what would happen if us as link meets up with link before null
The glitch essentially loads the initial save but wrongly sets your position so you end up with Link in the overworld, ergo, your save is deleted when you do this glitch and you end up in a pre-prologue state, so if anything, this would be a huge waste of your time
Hey! As far as the horse goes. Go grab a box from the ranch, then bring it down to where the horse is. Either set it from above or walk off and itll be placed down where the horse can jump from crate to land. Also where you got stuck and "had" to warp. You can jump ontop of the brazier, burn yourself, then jump back on and jump to the trees! I've been having a LOT of fun as link thanks to your previous video. Suthorn Ruins dungeon is impossible BUT you can get through the first room by jumping the corner and tossing a bomb.
@@alyoalyoalyo of course! Surprisingly enough Link can perfect the first two Gerudo challenges too LOL. I didn't perfect them but my first try on each was like 1 or 2 off. So I know it's very much possible. Bombs destroy the mango but his arrow and sword collect them.
Well, I imagine most ppl noticed while playing that even as Zelda you can jump much higher in swordfighter form. I'm not sure if the frog accessory equalizes jump height or if there's still a difference, tho.
I dont know if you got any but it is possible for link to get and use accessories. (Not any of the outfits obviously) You can also go to the great fairy to use more.
@@KNJfanIt's the opposite. Link was planned to be the protagonist until very late in development, until they decided that echoes would be underused if you can just use the Sword as usual. The solution was make Zelda the protagonist.
it's strange that the King was alone for you... I had Lefte and Write standing there. Lefte had no interaction like Lueburry, and Write triggered some Tri dialogue ("This is a person who was trapped in the rift. If we fixed the rift, we'd be able to save them." or something but not the full tutorial version of that line), then wouldn't trigger any dialogue again.
That does sound interesting, I suppose it might be a thing with how far you are maybe when you do the glitch, but I haven't tested that specifically at the moment. But that's cool insight!
It depends on what you have done. Going straight to the castle has the effect you had. Doing some things that set story flags, like opening the Suthorn Ruins Rift or going into the Royal Family Secret Shortcut will cause the flags to set that they're gone
I remember messing around with this, but i know you can rescue the horse, i carried some crates that were near the entrance of the ranch one by one, and dropped 2 or 3 of them which allowed the horse to be rescued.
Sadly not. You can use a bombchu to hit the switch past the first big Rock but there's no way to move the second one that's on top of the ladder to the next part
Nintendo has a history of being ashamed of glitches in their games. Bethesda, on the other hand, is on the opposite end of the spectrum. They embrace the glitches.
Funny thought, but no, that wouldn't be the case. According ot Lueburry's Diary, even before the game began, Link had fallen into a rift alongside other Suthorn Village children. They managed to escape, but each kid lost something to the void, with Link losing his voice as an example.
I wonder if you could repeat the Link glitch to turn back into Zelda and then keep alternating between the two through autosaves so that you can reach the end of the game but still have Link accessible?
The glitch requires a sign-echo, which Link doesn't have. Even if he had it, the glitch doesn't really switch characters, it just teleports the a save file to the eternal forest, so you can't make progress this way.
Since it says you have too many smoothies, what happens if you click “I’d like to sell”? Also do the heart pieces still appear in the inventory when you collect them as link? It looks like there’s a heart piece display in the prologue pause menu
There's no glitch to become link, it just takes the Link save file from the beginning of the game (which doesn't have any teleports), and teleports him to the eternal forest.
Man even in the video games Link can't avoid being mistaken for Zelda...

Link is basically Zelda stuck in swordfighter form so that could explain some of these quirks
How does the drink menu work when you sell or the other like you say buying a potion? How does it look?
You can footstool off of most enemies so I'm wondering if you could progress further in the one rift

It would be possible to get to a boss as Link I think. If get the warp outside a boss room and then perform the glitch to become Link.
There's no glitch to become link, it just takes the Link save file from the beginning of the game (which doesn't have any teleports), and teleports him to the eternal forest.
