    I was I inspired by StoneCoat 2 yrs ago. I decided last year to buy some walnut 2" slabs and an epoxy deep pour kit. A year later, I finally just started!
    I was terrified to ruin the $500 I spent on material and some tools. Day 2, getting ready to pour.
    This lady did amazing. Stonecoat, you inspired me but this ladies story inspired me to keep on keeping on.

      Awesome, yeah getting the materials and doing it the first time is crazy because you definitely feel like you’re going to mess it up thinking you going to lose the money, when you realize you did an amazing job and how much you can really sell it is mind blowing

      I bought a cnc machine last year too. Making decor signs to learn the tool better. Now I'll be able to personalize the river tables as well.
      I want to get into this table top coating too. Finding a way to produce epoxy countertops and backsplashing efficiently. Working solo is hard and scary. Epoxy designer floors is my true goal.
      Thanks again. You helped put some fuel in the tank too bro.

      Start out on a small project like a 2ft x 2ft area. If you mess up no big deal. 22 yrs ago, I didnt kno how to do stuff & so i bot a cheap house & gutted it. I changed the floor plan. Some guy friends taught me how to frame, tape, mud & drywall & texture & turns out, Im really good working with wood & good at tiling too. If i nessed up, I redid it. If i hadnt jumped in, Id never wld hav done it. Now i can do cement too. I sold the house for huge profit. Been doing it ever since.

    • @brandons4749
      @brandons4749 Рік тому +7

      @@Userxyz-z2d Wow! Very similar story. For a Christmas present I was gifted a house from my uncle for my wife and I. The only thing it needed everything. Floors, drywall, furnace, windows, roof....the list went on and on. We were happy to jump in and try to fix it up and 13yrs later we are still here having fun changing things up as the family turned from 3 to 6 very quickly lol.
      After writing my original comment I jumped in and tried just that. A 2ft by 2ft walnut river table with a 3" gap between of epoxy. I built my own form with my oldest daughter and we both poured the epoxy together. Except immediately my form started leaking horribly! All except a 1/4". Although I lost 2" of epoxy I have more left to fill it and it was all worth it because of the bonding time with my oldest.
      Thank you for your encouragement and story. It was inspiring in many ways.

    That countertop looks beautiful! You did a wonderful job. No one would ever know it was your first time using epoxy. My hubby and I did the table tops on our nightstands using Stone Coat. We did 4 layers because we wanted visual depth. They turned out amazing. The final top coat was perfect and had no bubbles. Stone Coat is a great epoxy especially for countertops, it can withstand high heat and has really good UV protection. Plus they’ve got very helpful instructional videos on yt. I work with resin as an artistic hobby so, I already knew quite a bit about epoxy but, their videos ended up being a big help because I hadn’t done a table top before.

    • @dontworryaboutit4255
      @dontworryaboutit4255 Рік тому +14

      You first warm the resin and mix the resin extremely well, NO WHIPPING, then mix the colors in different sections, like cups or containers or something. Then pour it all in one bucket and do a drop pour.
      Heat it up with the heat gun after to pop all the bubbles and spread around the colors. It's really easy but the SMELL is toxic. Super toxic. You would need your entire house well ventilated with fans moving the smells around and fan in every window pointing out and the doors wide open.
      Something this big would also need some kind of plastic wrap over it, not touching it so nothing sticks, unless you plan on sanding and polishing it at the end.
      The end result should be smooth and hard like glass if you did it the correct way.

      @@chucky6367 oh I did - I just didn’t see the sense in repeating what you & other have most likely already told her - not to mention the manufacturers themselves also would’ve made sure to let her know.
      She appears to be over the age of majority to me; she’s not my child, cousin, sister, etc - nor is she one of my students. Therefore, between you and all the others who seem to feel you absolutely MUST tell other adults what to do AFTER the fact…you just keep on doing what you do boo.
      Have yourself a lovely day.
