that interior camera is for the "Connected Camera" DashCam feature coming early next year in GM's Mobile Apps. So you can recover accident recording or anything else you find interesting.
Android Automotive is WAY better than phone mirroring with Android Auto. I can possibly see Apple users feeling a way but the intergrated Google OS is superior to both in every way.
@703Speed number one, it can be customized for oddly shaped displays where Android Auto is typically restricted to a 16x9 window within what display format is ported too (Apple has more flexibility here). #2, Android Auto cannot port it's display to driver instrument clusters so if you have a moving feature in your car's gauge cluster, and you use android auto, this functionality is not supported. #3 zero chance of handshake/connectivity issues. I've had numerous cars/phones that required restarts when the configuration wasn't right and AA wouldn't function properly. #4 for EVs, Google Automotive is much superior for EV specific route planning as compared to AA.
@@703Speed Plus I have seen 2025 cadillac escalades with this same OS that have Waze and Spotify installed. I think you install it through the Google Play store which you missed during the review.
@@455LT1 Not to mention that the built in google maps is able to do route planning with live battery data and preconditioning, the android auto version (while technically capable, does not have access to that info...nor does Carplay).
Great review Kenny! That is an amazing SUV with an equally amazing price! The driving range is phenomenal for sure. Huge mistake by Cadillac not offering either wired or wireless play. Cadillac should absolutely provide a shade or a way to make the roof opaque like some other luxe SUVs. Congratz on 49k and hoping that you are doing great always!
According to the order guide, this should have a sunshade. Why that particular model doesn’t have that sunshade is puzzling. I am guessing it’s a late arrival. It should be standard. As for arrival mode being a gimmick, let’s consider other Cadillac tech that was called gimmicks: Cadillac brought cylinder de-activation to the market in the early 80s with the Sevilla. The engine had reliability problems, but as opposed to popular belief it was NOT the cylinder de-activation that was the problem. But from the beginning it was decried as a gimmick. In the late 80s Cadillac brought power-assisted decklid to the market, again, in the Seville. It was decried as a gimmick, but it was the forerunner of current power assisted decklids. Now people don’t want a luxury car without similar tech. Night vision was first brought to the automobile market by Cadillac in the early 2000s in the Deville. It was dismissed as a gimmick. Now people don’t want a luxury car without it. Just a few years ago, Cadillac brought the rear camera mirror to the market in the XT4, and the car magazines dismissed it as a gimmick. So, you dismiss arrival mode as a gimmick, but once someone in Hollywood pulls off a great arrival at the Oscars or some such, everyone will want it.
It's the best looking EV I've seen, amazing range, a little pricey for me. I've never understood pano roofs, even with AC on it is so uncomfortable. Good review, Merry Christmas and a healthy new year.
No need for Android Auto or Car play, this integrated Google software is far better as you have Play Store Apps. I have one of these new GM EVs and didn't miss anything.
I think the software is good, but GM still should integrate ACP & AA regardless. I like to know when I’m getting a text, I like to talk to Siri and have her do things, it’s the basics!!
Somewhere on utube I saw a guy attach his electric truck to his house to power everything. He had an adapter to plug truck in to be recharge by house. He said a professional electrician was needed to make connections safe.
I saw one of these on the road a few days ago and I went "OOOH!!!" I'm the opposite of you in that I want the glass roof, but I don't want it to open. Just give me my sheet of glass, but I would like the option of a cover
Does this have a “pet mode” similar to Tesla or Rivian or a way to have the heat/ac run while car is parked and locked so that a dog can hang in there?
It’s just the first model year but it is missing essential features such as power open/close sunroof, real leather, 2nd row power sunshades , A/C outlet on b pillar and heated 3row seats. The b pillar A/C outlet was present on the pre production models though even then the updated owner’s still mentioned the existence of the feature despite not making it to the production model. Overall the vehicle was almost perfect. How often is it for car manufacturers to not bring every features for the 1st model year of a vehicle? My hope is GM bringing this features for the 2026 model at the very least even if it means adding a platinum trim or package.
Very BIG mistake not having Apple Car Play and Android Auto. I would think 98% of people who would buy this vehicle would have and Apple or Android phone. I don't know what Cadillac was thinking when they did this. Not too many people use Google phones. I wouldn't be surprised if GM brought this back since it was a stupid decision to get rid pf it anyway.
I would want real leather option for this price point of a vehicle period. Everyone doesn't want "fake" leather in their expensive ass vehicle. The EV is amazing otherwise, except placing so many functions buried in screens.
Is the Escalade IQ the best EV at its price point? If not, what's better?
Yes & better than before as my opinion.

Cadillac does a good job of making an aerodynamic vehicle without it looking like the design was a slave to aerodynamics.
Exactly!

Very disappointing that the back glass does not open up.
This is what a Cadillac is supposed to be. It's a breakthrough product for them.
Somewhere on utube I saw a guy attach his electric truck to his house to power everything. He had an adapter to plug truck in to be recharge by house. He said a professional electrician was needed to make connections safe.
That is sick
Excellent car, but can't believe the second row of a 130000+ car is manually adjusted
Cadillac if your listening bring back hood ornaments, cigar lighters, ashtrays, bench seats for cuddling, windwings,18 inch tires. Etc. Etc Etc
Agree this needs CarPlay and a screen for the glass roof. But despite that I’ve ordered one.
As many will! It’s a great car
Bruh seeing the Cadillac Escalade god its a gorgeous SUV but holy Sh*it its lights are so bright that's its blinding
😂

PRO Tip: Rgardless of the cameras, don’t park your 100k+ vehicle in tight PLaces
Sometimes you have no choice, although if I drive a vehicle of this price point I would always valet when possible.
Sometimes you have no choice!
I agree that the lack of Apple Carplay is a major negative.

Not sure to be honest

You right about that, we need apple car play and android car play big time
Yup!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yoooo

Indeed
How is it possible this car has minimal 3rd row legroom for the exterior length?
It actually had decent 3rd row room

why would u even want carplay in this car? this OS is far superior in every way imaginable.
I want the OS to be good and have CarPlay
@@703Speed the os IS great, using carplay would just make u not use the OS, it's just mirroring your phone. The OS offers spotify and waze btw.
CADILLAC, You need to put back auto car play! I expect to buy this car but the fact that car play is not into it breaks me!
I wonder if they can do an over the air update to bring back Android Auto and CarPlay 🤔🤔
They should
It's ignorant to hate a propulsion system and to associate it with car design.
Have you taken a look around? Look at most EV’s and their design
