No disrespect to the other chefs on Season 5, but you could tell for a while that Danny and Paula would be in the final.
I agree. Frankly, with Paula's cool demeanor and polished performances, it seemed like Hell's Kitchen was too easy! Danny had some minor errors, but was a leading candidate on the Blue Team.

You could tell Paula knew that as soon as she asked Ramsay if he could get her something she knew that as a dumb move.
At first, I didn't understand why Ramsay didn't like Ben. Then I recalled an episode of Kitchen Nightmares where he was trying to help a Scottish restaurant with elite French chefs keep the doors open. It boiled down to them trying too hard to impress and not giving their customers what they wanted and what was suitable for the area they were serving. With his credentials, Ben had the potential to take the competition but he was too much in his own head trying to impress instead of actually cooking.
Precisely. Ben has put on strong performances when he puts his head down and cooks, if the second and eighth services of Season 5 are anything to go by.

T. and Michelle from Season 14 started together great. They were are machine in this challenge once they hit their rhythm! I was amazed how their egos made them clash so quickly!
I think it's less egos and more differing personalities. Michelle wanted to prove people wrong about her height and age while T seems quick to judge her as too inexperienced and small. I still remember how T got under her skin about her voice and height while also dismissing her on challenges later on.

The hatred Gordon has for Ben is so obvious throughout the season, it's funny but painful at the same time
Ben's problem was that he always seemed to try WAY too hard.

They most likely let them go first because they knew they would disappoint. That way, their dishes will stand out more
Paula (in the confessional) foreshadows that she cost her team the challenge as had she pushed for her dish, she would have blew Ben out of the water. It turned out she was right.

This was a very fun compilation, lots of like here. Andrea and Ben eating humble pie was hilarious to watch. Seeing Gordon really get so excited hearing the men's team ingredients in S7 was kinda surreal, I don't think he ever felt that way in any other challenge. And of course S17, Elise cost the red team their lead and the blue team showed off how strong they were that season once again. Jared though is gross.

That first challenge confirms that the producers are watching and paying _very_ close attention during the challenges. It's one of the ways they try to keep challenges close until the end, by controlling who goes up first. And they can pick out a winning dish just from watching the contestants work and seeing the finished product.

@@alexandercook3483 far enough mate, I just don't think Florida (however it's probably spelt) was good enough. Although the guy (forgot his name) would win no matter what (he made mistakes but...), Ramsay gave him enough praise it was clear he was in the led and would win.
I don't really think Robert would have won - Paula and Danny were far too dominant. But he definitely would have beaten out Andrea and Ben.

Mango go very well with most meats.
