This is exactly the type of installation video we were looking for to replace the flooring in a tiny bathroom. Feel much more confident now. Thank you!
@@ReyKondiga depends on the cost of flooring vinyl you want. Easiest way to determine go to Home Depot and price. They come in rolls that aren’t super expensive and the adhesive should only be about 40$ for a room that size. I’m getting ready to do a 200sqft trailer and all supplies cost about 116$ but I’m also. It a professional so don’t forget you are paying for their time and expertise.
Price depends upon thickness and styles. It comes in 12ft. wide rolls. Thus, there is another price listed in linear feet, 12x1 ft. The cheapest and often easiest way to go is with remnants--plastic-wrapped, bar-coded rolls--hopefully enough for your project. These are less than 12ft. wide. Remnants seem currently missing now--at least at big-boxy, usual-suspect home stores.
Thank you for the video 😊 can’t afford for anyone to put vinyl down for me so I’m going to do it by myself this video was extremely helpful. Thank you.
People. knee pads number one. When you lay the piece in make sure it is square and not crooked with the walls! also a little trick don't leave any heavy glue swipes make it all consistent and after you spread the glue give it about 5 min or longer to let the glue "off gas" to minimize the amount of bubbles you get. make sure the floor underneath the vinyl is Smooth as possible and Clean enough to eat off of because if not it will show through the vinyl! Their is no room for error once you cut its done.
Jan. 22, 2019---Thanks for the video. I live in a '74 single wide trailer, moving into it around 1984? Since then, there's been 10 cats/kittens who loved digging their claws into the linoleum. Then add one dog who had 9 puppies which liked chewing on the linoleum the cats had worked on earlier. Finally got down to 3 dogs...my original and 2 of her pups. When they passed on, ended up with another dog, something I didn't expect to happen. Ever. So linoleum is a bit tore up in spots and of course, extremely well worn. Since I'm on Social Security, will be replacing everything bit by bit along with new paneling, insulation and sealing windows. I thought doing the linoleum would be hard, but not after seeing your video. Thanks again.
looks great, I used to do this exact same job for years. the sheet vinyl is alot easier to work with today, I used to install desinger solarian and corlon sheet vinyl. Those are Armstrong products, mostly felt back sheet vinyl. Everyone in he shop used to cringe when they seen that vinyl, so that's how I became the hard goods mechanic. Nice job brother, 👍
I followed your advice for my 8x27 foot cargo trailer which is being remodeled into a camper for my wife and I. The vinyl we picked turned out to be real soft/thin which posed problems and I got off straight/true enough that I had to cut it off at the fenderwells and realign. I'll use a transition over the cut (it was my wife's idea). If....IF I ever did this again, I'd have help and probably use vinyl tiles, but it was a fun experience. Thanks!
Awesome video, thanks for taking the time to record and share. Insightful and to the point tutorial. Also, thanks for keeping the video and comments professional, it is nice to be able to show to the wife and kids before starting the project to have a better collective idea of what is going on. I love DIY projects with my sons, it teaches them and saves the family a whole lot of money. You're the man, thanks!
Thank you for such an informative video! I do have a question. We are looking at installing vinyl flooring in a large room where we will have a seam. We've laid vinyl flooring before, but the seam part is making us a little nervous, and unfortunately, we can't find any manufacturer's recommendations for installation. Do you have any suggestions for the installation of it, in regards to gluing down versus leaving it as a floating floor (going off memory, I think that's what the sales guy suggested, and just not so sure how comfortable we feel about that), and also for the seam? Never done the seaming before. Here is the description for the flooring we have: Comfort Foam double encapsulated fiberglass structure provides strength and dimensional stability. Modified loose-lay installation option, offers easy-in, easy-out flexibility. 105 gauge with 10 mil wear layer. Super Guard Urethane finish for stain protection and easy cleaning. Recommended full spread with releasable adhesive.

What size staple and type of glue? Any tips on keeping it square? I’m a woodworker, trim carpenter and window and door wizard, but lost with floors haha!
here in California most homes made after 1987 have a cement floor that the lanoleum is glue too so the staples can't be used (i think) how you video gave me good ideas so thank you sir
yep, slab homes you need to cut all the loose parts out, mud with a hardrock mud product to create a smooth floor then go over. You will spend tons of time trying to scrap up all the old vinyl. Which you will need to mud the whole area again to make a smooth and even floor anyway.
Thank you so much for the video! My husband and I are upgrading some things in our home and our laundry room floor and the laundry room hall leading into the room needs to be replaced. Did not know it was so easy! Again thanks!

Hi ryker I am going to go with vinyl flooring for my kitchen. there are two types. One is more and no "cork" backing. the other cheaper but I like the color better. What do you recommend. I want the cheaper one because of the color but I want to pay more for a better backing. What do you suggest? Does the "cork" backing make a better floor? thx.
Thanks for the video, it helped a lot. Suggestion for next time: slow down the panning on the video a bit. It was too fast for the camera to focus and a little hard to watch. But that's minor; appreciate the tips.

You can do a floating vinyl floor and either staple or glue the edges, but it needs to be a heavy vinyl that will lay down flat and not bubble up. Also, sometimes the vinyl you lay can shrink or contract, and if you trim it too much then it will be short on your walls.

build up of wax? Try using a drywall mud knife and scrape it off. then use a degreaser

standard staples for air gun with at 1.5 inch staples. PSI usually at 90-100

thats awesome, you are welcome!
But don't you need a time for vinyl to "rest" and adjust?
Maybe a stupid question, but what is the best way to trim the excess around the edges? Having some trouble with that and screwed up a DIY project.
best way is to keep the blade flat on the floor while trimming, this way the knife blade can't get loose and get away from you
Lay a framing square flat on the floor, push against the wall and trim along the top edge. Perfect!!
what glue did you use
Henry glue from HD
