It’s really interesting how apparently architecture all over the world changed so abruptly after world war 2. And all the techniques of stone carving and fitting and the absolutely meticulous work that had been done up until then was supposedly all forgotten. In this modern post WW2 world nothing like this was ever built again. Since I was a kid walking around Manhattan New York I’ve always marveled at the fact that no one can ever build these magnificent stone buildings anymore.

I think your timeline is a bit off.. I don't think any of these structures were built any time after the civil war... maybe some.. but most of these have been standing since before then and we are being lied to about the vast civilization responsible for all of it

    • @cyranosaurus1423
      @cyranosaurus1423 Місяць тому

@@flojotube What would be the evidence that most of those structures were built prior to the civil war?

It WOULD be interesting if that would be what happened..but it wasn't.
First of all it did not all happen after ww2..in fact modernism-movement has its roots in a long lasting movement in architecture that more and more reduced the ornaments and moved towards simpler structures. The First Bauhaus school was funded about the end of WW1. We can already see that trend in the Change from Barock to Classicism and neo-renaissance....so this is not some sudden change but a more than 200 years lasting movement. Many Classicist builders like Schinkel already considered more simpler buildings and a lack of ornamentation modern...and that was in the 18th century.
So Pillars and Ornaments didn't went out of fashion over night.
All in all we can call the modernist movement a swing back of the pendulum. The 18-20th century were defined by revival styles..but Industrialization and social change as well as the rise of technology as the new god made way for a new philosophy...a philosophy wannabe researchers don't wanna talk about because it would destroy their little fantasy stories.
The basic idea of modernism is form follows function..so you don't add extra elements for decoration..you only use the elements you need anyway. Thats how we get the slim, purist buildings of today. Design is not done with ornaments and towers but with the general shape of the building or materials used.
The other basic idea is authenticity...and that was the nail in the coffin for the revival styles. Buildings are not supposed to look like buildings from other time periods but rather be representations of the latest technological progress...thats why we stopped building stuff that is supposed to look like medieval castles, or Roman temples or Renaissance palaces. The thing people from today keep forgetting that the things that for US seem beatiful and comforting were seen as oldfashioned and boring by the people of the mid of that century..not to forget the fact that many of those old-stlyes were associated with old-fashioned political systems. And we musn't forget the economic factor: those buildings are cheaper to built...and building projects had to be much bigger because the rise of population...and also since most were done by developers...who wanted to maximize their revenue...adding expensive art-work to buildings became less popular.

"And all the techniques of stone carving and fitting and the absolutely meticulous work that had been done up until then was supposedly all forgotten"
Nothing had been forgotten..but the people didn't WANT or NEED to use those techniques anymore..because if you just built a house with empty walls..than you don't need anyone carving ornaments.
So yes...many things were only done by a small number of people...the same way we only have a handful of people today who can make Plate-Armor or hunt Elephants with spears or, organize book keeping without computers, or repairing old-fashioned steam-engines, or preserve food without a freezer, make Baroque-Style clothing....things that are not in demand or out of fashion often have less people who master those methods.
Ask your local taylor to make you the dress of Louis IVX...and I bet he will run into trouble. But that isn't because some reset happened but simply because those things weren't in demand.
      -
"In this modern post WW2 world nothing like this was ever built again. "
Yeah..and in the 17th century nothing like the 9th century was built.
      Styles change.
Also..that is not true. We did built most of the new buildings in the styles that were fashionable at that time...but we also rebuilt a lot of buildings destoryed in the war.
Almost all "old world" stuff you see in Germany has been rebuilt. My city just recently in 2021 re-built its Renaissance City castle...Dresden Rebuilt most of its inner city...so we STILL have some people who can built like that..but as I said..they are experts and not people who produce buildings for the general market.
      -
So saying that we CAN'T built like that is wrong..but we don't do it because most people don't want it.

I was just in Manhattan for first time 2 week’s ago! Hated it! No offense to anyone. The trees on the few buildings were a great idea, Alinghi with gardens! Much of this elaborate architecture was done before income tax had started. So...there was more cash to build the cities & lots of labor from all the many immigrants who came here.
I read elsewhere that the buildings/columns in Italy were made of a mixture of about 16 things. I cannot remember, though, if there is 1 man left who knows what it is! I think that is how some of their amazing art pieces were, also, made, but that’s just a guess, considering the complexity of some of those beautiful art pieces! Brilliant! - Cynthia

I can’t wait to see this video! I just watched your one of Old World Springfield, Massachusetts! I LOVED it! I’m going to watch your one on Holyoke tomorrow! I was born there & spent a good amount of time there! Thanks for such great quality photos/postcards! I do have a calendar from the Holyoke Centennial showing many old buildings & I had a few postcards & a small brochure on Elizur Holyoke & his wife! I have a plate that has many of Holyoke’s best landmarks painted on it! I only got to see the ruins of the castle as a child. I had photos somewhere of the restaurant on top of Mount Tom before it burned down & the cable cars which carried passengers up & down! Fascinating stuff!

I live in a smaller city northewest of dc and baltimore. We had a beautiful old world theatre. I used to work there. They said it was structuralky unsound (ha) and then....there was a FIRE. They rebuilt it. Now its ugly square concrete type building. Then the library. Then, one by one, tearing down, burning, defacing. Our courthouse is the only building not completely defaced. Its definitely roman style columns rtc but modernized about 15 yrs ago.

damn..its weird, im from south africa and i found recently that there's smilar if not the exact architecture all over our nearest cities.. the narrative in south africa says that there was and still were hotels, hospitals, electricity, city halls, post offices, gas and electric cars and more back in the 1800s when south africas population boasted a maximum of only 3000, yes three thousand, now theres 59 million people in SA . NEVER HAVE I SEEN them build like that ..ever ...

I didn’t think so, I was thinking there’s a connection between the larger cities but no up here cause we’re the last area to be taken over by the US. But nope same kinda buildings. There were a larger number of us here before folks started rushing up for gold and all

20:07. In fact, we can get a bit more on Milawukee, finding "Chicago architect Henry Ives Cobb submitted the competition’s winning design. But a political controversy led to the final selection of the design of local architect Henry C. Koch in March 1892. Groundbreaking began in June of the following year". And we are again told that the bulding was being occupied by late 1895, so just over 2 years to get it all done...
So we went from Henry Cobb to Henry Koch ... they couldn't even be bothered to think up a different-sounding name!!!

Just got back from exploring Europe taking in most of the major cities. Great idea to focus on one type of building because you can see the similarities, and the logistics are mind boggling. Vienna has excellent buildings and the Town Hall is amazing. They try to hide it behind big, big trees and they even had a concert structure out front so my photos have to be cropped. Please do more of these videos, like Cathedrals, Opera Houses, Courthouses, Asylums - our world was unified once, including the new countries, Canada, USA, New Zealand and Australia where they would not look out of place in Europe

They claimed it was taken down after a fire and I think they said it was the former library or such. There were rocks strewn all around the site. 19th century photo, by appearances. Showed my uncle tartaria and showed him the cia doc proof and said ‘i don’t believe it… they got rid of those buildings because they were not up to fireproof code 😂”
Whenever you show those plugged into the matrix anything of truth they always retort ‘why would they do that’ and when I also proved that lee harvey oswald didnt sho0t jfk, he said ‘ballistics dont matter, unless they find the gun.. maybe he used multiple different guns’ 😂😂😂 Matrix agents crack me up

@@oldworldex i showed the tartarian stuff first, showed him the google wiki results “pseudoscientific landmass conspiracy “ and then showed him the results on yandex, with proof of the revisionist history in the cia doc that was released in 1999 and he still didn’t budge lol
