Congrats to Mr. Carpetbagger. You made it. This has been probably your best tour. I have been enjoying your trip down the great river. Can't wait till the end. Be safe.
This has been a great one but I feel like Route 66 (both times) is a member of the greatest hits!
I've thoroughly enjoyed this river road trip!! Today's video was full of things I never knew about Louisiana!! The plantation gardens were stunning. Thank you so very much for allowing us to share in this spectacular adventure!!
Thank you for this days adventure.
This Mississippi River trip was an unexpected surprise, great stuff man 👍
I think your next adventure should be following the Oregon trail! Or other significant theme like this river trip. I feel much more engaged when you have continuing themes or adventures. It keeps me coming back every day to watch
The U.S.S. Kidd will be here in Houma for about a year for maintenance.
What a great two weeks.
Louisiana is a beautiful state. ❤ Thank you for taking us along.
God bless 🙌
I can't wait to see where you go in NOLA. I saw a beignet-themed pressed penny machine when I last visited.
Good day for traveling.
My daughter and I were in a movie called Ray that was filmed in the state representative side of the capital that Movie won an Academy award and I was in it❤
How awesome!
That's TOTALLY COOL!!!!
Love watching your videos hello from the U.K. I am now 50
Jacob, I really enjoy and appreciate the hard work that goes into your road trips and your videos. I especially enjoy the small attractions that most people don’t know about.
Keep up the amazing work and safe travels.
I have really enjoyed the river trip. I have watched every episode. It really has been a enjoyable experience. Thank you.❤
This new camera has made your videos so much more quality. Keep up the good work Jacob!!
Hey Jacob, Wanted to let you know that I'm really enjoying the river road trip! 👍
The air looks like it is really clean down there! So green and lush too. Great tour of the ol Mississip!
You'd be quite mistaken actually. In fact the AQ is absolutely horrible being less than a mile from a large chemical refinery.
I'm glad you had such a great trip! The flags for the veterans were beautiful.
Thanks for visiting Baton Rouge Louisiana my home state!!! 💛💜
It's nice museum. I father fought in two wars will and Korea. It's important people died for that flag. 😊
that was An amazing tiger serenade 😂❤
That was fun ❤
Kinda like a Jack black singing lol more singing Jacob!
This River Road trip was amazing. So many things I learned about the Mississippi River. Thank you
Really admire how often you put up a video for us to enjoy! Keep up the good work! (But try to take some good time off, too)
Great video, Jacob. That's one place I would love to visit one day. Take care, my friend, and as always, safe travels.
Nice video ❤ the hangover
My neck of the woods!
FYI, it's the tallest state capital in the US. New Orleans has the tallest building, the Hancock Whitney Building down the street from the Superdome.
Would've been cool to dump in to you! Pigeon Forge next month for a visit!
This series has been both enjoyable to watch and very educational. Hoping you might consider doing the Trans-Canada Highway at some time.
Baton Rouge has gone rogue in your title! 😂 Enjoying this series. I’ve learned lots of new things!
USS Kidd is a destroyer, not a battleship.
Love this very informative video carpetbagger and tampa jay mentioned you in his Monday the 27th May video.
Good morning Jacob, 🤗. This adventure of running down the Mississippi River road trip was absolutely fabulous 🎇. I appreciate every stop that you made even the food you have to do that because this way you wouldn’t be able to tell your viewers where to go to eat if they went to visit that town or city. Thank you so much. This has been so enjoyable along with new things to see. I appreciate you and thank you so much continue with the good work you do and please tell Jen that we said hi.❤️🫶🏻🤠
Thanks to Jacob, I now know that, even while missing an s, Mississippi has plenty of S's. Also Baton Rouge translates to Red Stick. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
As someone from Birmingham, UK, I found that interesting that a "Brumie" was involved in that fight... not suprised he lost either 😂.
I’m going to miss you traveling the Mississippi River! You’re so fun to watch! Excited about your next adventure
My family and I have watched every day and loved all the videos! Your best series BY FAR! Please do a series around The Great Lakes-- Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. So beautiful and the perfect time of year to travel along the area. Thank you so much and take care! 😀
Good Afternoon " YA ALL " Jacob the Carpetbagger..!!
The river is pretty high right now. That's why you're seeing so much debris floating. Not a normal thing.
Always enjoy a good tiger lullaby.
I love watching road trip videos
Yay!!! You made it! Love the singing 🎶 ❤
Videos are looking great Jacob. Nice job adapting to the new camera. They have the same familiar feel with additional quality and capabilities of the new equipment. Well done!
Morning Jacob thanks for sharing this 🤓📸👍 on my mom side her dad was from Baton Rouge Louisiana.
25:52 The Ballad of Mike was inspired, CB! Thanks for the video!
What a ride! Such a rich and informative video. Thank you for taking us along on another fantastic journey!
Almst 500k woo hooo, i binge watch your content all the time. Got my boyfriend and family into it. You rock!!
I really enjoy watching this road trip, Jacob! 👍👍👍👍
Whitney plantation is a must see…. What an eye opener😢
"In 1814 we took a little trip, along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip. we took a little Bacon * we took a little Beans, and we caught the Bloody British in the Town of New Orleans.....We fired out cannon until the barrel melted down, so we grabbed an alligator and fought another round, We filled his head with cannon balls and powdered his behind, and when we set the powder off the Gatot lost his mind!" The Battle of New Orleans - Johnny Horton.
The gun carried by Weiss that supposedly was used to shoot Huey Long use to be displayed in the Old State Capitol. Don't know if it is still there or not. Weiss did show up there with a gun but there was a rumor that it was one of Huey's bodyguards that accidentally shot Huey in the crossfire but it may have not been an accident at all. They were all mobsters that paid for hits back in those days.
I've enjoyed watching this trip, thanks for sharing it ✌️😁
Aw man, I have been waiting for you to be here and missed it!
Maybe they could spend some money on a bigger enclosure for Charlie 🙄 Poor thing.
Thanks Jacob
Great video so far, you're right about Huey talking out both sides of his face so to say.
Huey Long was accidently shot by his own bodyguards. The bullets that hit him were the wrong caliber to the claimed assassin. He himself says that's where he hit me in reference to his bloody lip. One of the investigators illegally simply took the gun and put it in his personal safety deposit box. This was found when his relatives opened the box after his death. The insurance company even paid a higher payout as they found the death accidental. His untrained btw guards also pumped over 60 bullets into Dr Karl Weiss. They moved the car and planted his gun which they stole from his car. The shell found with the gun, a .32 wasn't even fired by it. The bullets in Huey .45's. The guards carried mostly .45 and a few .38. In transportation they even have been photographed and on video with Thompson sub machine guns, drum magazines and all.
Check out the 1949 film ALL THE KING'S MEN, good movie!
I wish more would have been shown along the way on the traveling of towns and traversing along the river roads
It really shows that months could be spent exploring this area. But that could be said for a lot of places.
Uss kidd was not a battleship. It was a destroyer. A battleship would be the uss Iowa bb61 uss new jersey bb62 uss Missouri bb63 uss Wisconsin bb64 uss texas bb35. Notice all battleships I mentioned has bb before the haul number. Bb stands for battleship. Battleships of old are named after states like today's submarines are. We no longer have actual battleships. We have guided missile arliegh Burke destroyers guided missile fridgets nuclear aircraft carriers nuclear submarines amphibious assault ships and littoral combat ships. Battleships look like or simular to the picture in my profile.
Thank You!!!
Good Evening Jacob 🙋🏽.
Next time you are in Baton Rogue, go by the old capitol building and check out the movie they have.
Such a great road trip. I enjoyed watching your new adventures every day. It seems like it went by so fast. I look forward to see what you do next. Hopefully when you get back home you take some time off to rest up.
I found the next road trip for you. Interstate 90 from Boston to. Washington state. Looks like a fun trip.
91?! That's nuthin! It was 97 in orlando yesterday. More road trips!
It's raining 🌧 and 57 in Michigan

Astounding 😊
Enjoyable video, the new camera is great!
Have to say I love the Pexcho shirt. Not sure if you know, but the owner of Pexcho's actually used to operate a venue in Baton Rouge called Insomkneeaks
I'm really looking forward to New Orleans and the things you'll see there. I visited there once, before Katrina and it was one of the best trips I've ever taken.
Are the song is real or Jacob making it all up 😂
I think it's from the hangover movie.
Hi there Jacob.... Did I mention I am loving this road trip LOL I think I did.!!!!! It has been so dam packed full of Interesting places and MU E UMS.. I will be watching though this hole trip again just to take It all In properly.. Not a problem for you I Imagine you sitting back one day years from now going over It all.. And sorry to bang on... The mounds alongside the river are levees. Most of the levees in the area were constructed after the Great Flood of 1927. And if it helps you feel better, every time I've tried to visit Mike too, he's been asleep. Lucky tiger- his habitat is nicer than some of the dorm rooms that used to be on LSU's campus. And yes, yesterday was rough-first heat advisory of the summer. It got up to 96 degrees with a heat index of 105 in my Louisiana neck of the woods. One more thing: "Laplace" is pronounced Lah-Plah-ss. That said, looking forward to the New Orleans video tomorrow.
Well done congrats, was great content
According to Wikipedia, the state capitol building is the 7th tallest building in Louisiana.
We can’t wait to see New Orleans!
Carpetbagger the USS Kidd is a destroyer not a battleship. There is a difference between a destroyer and a battleship. It’s like calling a yeti, Sasquatch.
USS Kidd is actually a destroyer not a battleship.
Brave man venturing around BR alone 😬
and usually the u.s.s kidd is always docked there, it is very very rare that it's away on maintenance ✌️ you got super unlucky, please come back maybe later this year to see it
Really enjoying this! I think you and Wonderhussey should do a duet har har j/k!
When you finally get to the mouth of the Mighty Mississippi, get a small bottle and capture some of the water. That way, you could always have a bit of her at home. It'll be like having the tiny bottles of sand from famous beaches.
The KIDD is a Destroyer not a Battleship
That’s a lot of pipes!
Good morning Jacob
Nice video
While Louisiana State Capitol is the tallest State Capitol in the country, the tallest building in LA is One Shell Square(New Orleans), which you are probably seeing right now.
Did you find my boat Carpet the Jaccobagger?
😂😂😂
I had a dream about that place as a child after a field trip there in which I ran up the building, ran into the governor's office (Buddy Roemer at that time) and jumped out of the window, flying away.
Thanks for visiting the hometown . Did you notice the steps to the Capitol are the US states in order of admission? Also, did you notice the pencil stuck in the ceiling in the Senate Chamber? It had a special light on it. It was from a bombing decades back and has been there ever since. You can also tour its basement. Loved the video.
So awesome 😎😎😎😎👍😎😎😎😎
The gardens were magnificent! It's a shame you couldn't go into the plantation itself.
K you I love the roads trips take care and be safe tellj hello❤
WONDERFULLY Weird Tiger song!!! Where does that come from?!
I think it's from the hangover movie.
Thanks for taking us on the Great River Road Trip Jacob! Do you have any plans after this, like State Fairs and other stuff like that?
Filmed on the grounds of the Capitol was the go-cart scene from the Richard Pryor 1982 movie "The Toy". That movie was entirely filmed in Baton Rouge. Another movie was "Everybody's All American" filmed in 1988, starring Dennis Quaid. A young John Goodman was also in that movie and he climbs up the Huey Long statue and kisses Huey on the cheek.
Its sad the journey long the river has to come to an end . Be careful. i think jenn has water balloons 😅
And paint balls. 😃
@@loravaloo55 😆
Only in the south do you see a fridge floating in the river. Gods country 😅
