I dont recommend tassie boys prospecting. Pioneer polly is slightly more charismatic but all 3 channels are equally great. I was kidding about not recommending tassie boys i would check them out!
I'm glad you discussed your hidden cameras and the fact that your videos are delayed to give you time to get the good stuff out before claim jumpers could steal your stones.
You should… just kidding. If there is anything you actually should do, it’s be proud. You’re a blessed man- a family, a job you love in a beautiful place, and a successful UA-cam channel. Love the video and it was nice to meet Craig today (Hi, Craig!). Keep up the great work, Dan!
As a plumbing/heating guy for years, I have a LOT of experience cutting through stone and concrete. You can control where a stone breaks by pre-driling in appropriate places with a very long and thin bit. Say a 1/4" x 12" long. Putting a row of holes an inch apart then using your chisel tucked one corner in the hole for a while and then moving to the next. It will usually break on the line of holes..
As someone without any of your experience, I too find myself wincing at some of Dan's endeavours with wedges and a jack hammer, especially like this situation! But I guess he's carrying his finds out, and probably couldn't manage the chunks we'd liberate by working around, not into, the prize stuff!
Can't just leave people alone eh gotta try to poke and prod your experiences and ideas all while forgetting your still a nobody. And nobody gives a shit...go be a shit electrician and pretend you feel good about your life.
My dad gave me a similar tip when I inquired about removing part of a concrete slab with out a diamond saw. Small ish drill bit like you said but I usually go up just a bit bigger than what you mentioned like 3/8 or 1/2 in just enough to get my roto hammer in and chisel them a bit inside the holes. Gone through 8in slabs that way. Still sucked but worked lol, make due with what ya got.
Thank you Craig for participating in Dan's video. Sharing with us about your role and the importance of keeping claims clean is appreciated. And let's not forget about Dan. Those were great finds today. Beautiful rocks!
How to start a rock habit: first you buy a specimen or two of Ocean Picture Stone. Then you think "what if I could just change the shape a little bit". Now you're on a deep dive into cabbing and slabbing. Then it seems clear what equipment to buy. Just a little bit of budgeting, done! (Ha, hardly. Accessories for cabbing machine! Then, stand-alone slab saw. Bulk purchase mineral oil). Living space may be rearranged to accommodate. Now you need to buy a lot of chips so you can learn on them, lest you ruin the magical pieces you love. Also, you are buying pieces that you might want to slab and cab, but maybe like as a specimen. Also, what with having more small stuff than you're going to cab, buying a tumbler from the seller of your cool vintage slab saw will be a totally reasonable add-on purchase. Might necessitate a deep dive on tumbling media. What you're not expecting is that once people find out what you're doing, they will start bringing you rocks. Work out a new life balance where you have ample rock-time. This particular rock habit? No regrets :) Thanks D's Hurd!
Old Disabled House Bound Dusty Rusty Rockhound here: Yes! It starts like that. Now that I can't work rock... I buy finished pieces... but you can't just stop at 1 or 2 because every rock is a brand new ocean picture!! If I keep going... I'm gonna need a 12-step recovery program! Lol😂!!!

I'm reminded of the gold shows on TV from Alaska and how they replace the over burden when they are done at a site. Because at one site there is a huge dredge that was left behind and is just rusting away.
Depends who you're following, newer title inspectors are gaining a bit of a reputation for going after the little guy and overstepping their authority. This inspector was quite nice, glad to see some of them are still reasonable and humble.

As for diamond saws. You can buy blades that will fit on an angle grinder. They make a lot of dust but do not require water unless you want to use it to control the dust. At the very least, you could use one to score a piece too big to fit in your saw and control where the piece breaks. I've done a lot of tile and marble work too. .

The only reason why you need water on any rock cutting instrument to include tile is to keep the dust down so that you don't hurt your lungs. If you wear a respirator you don't need water.
@@hamaljay Usually, but when we rented large diamond saws, the water was required to reduce the wear on the blade, they would measure the size of the blade when we took it and when we brought it back and charge us for wear. In my experience - you need a lot of water to suppress dust and eject only slurry when using a gasoline/petrol powered disk cutter. So I would agree with Dan, for what it's worth
I know this is an old video but i must say, your videos are amazing. Ive always wanted to mine stuff, wether it be coal, iron, copper gold or gemstones, youre really motivating all of us to get excited about whats in the ground! And teaching us in the process. I have the privilege of being in an area full of abandoned coal mines, (actually likely just about 50 miles south of you) and ive got hundreds of pounds now that i use in my forge. Id like to visit some other metal mines also in the future, not to mention getting into mining claims for other precious metals/gems
Definitely a smart guy. He said "time to put my cameras back in place now that the inspector is gone.." never trust anyone not even the government. Smsrt smart move.
Appreciate the inspector willing to be on camera to explain what he does.
Being transparent and educational really helps people be more trusting of what they do.
Pretty impressive to get him to do some hammering work as well :)
Why not? He's able to put out the regs to a WIDE audience, and it saves him time overall.
Its a smart move on his part... when the hell is his department going to get that level of awareness and exposure in a positive light ever.
Absolutely. Surely inspectors can be a pain in the ... neck. But they can also help level the playing field.
Glad that Craig was willing to be filmed and discuss his role as Title Inspector.

It would be interesting to see a couple of examples of the sorts of comments, both positive and negative, that go into those inspection reports.
That green one turned out good 👍.. looks like a grassy hill
Diamond saw idea is to strategically put in a few cuts to optimize yield in conjunction with a jack hammer.....
I used to stop by and talk with Captain Joe and listen to his adventure and mining stories. He had a quarry of that rock and he made clocks from it.
Old Disabled House Bound Dusty Rusty Rockhound here: I finally got myself a piece of jewelry made from this stuff... it's gorgeous!
Get well soon Dan. I really enjoy watching you do what you do. 🍀⛏️🍀
I hope you feel better. Wow, what spectacular seams. Such vibrant colors. Thanks for sharing and watch out for claim jumpers .
I'm mesmerized by the wedge's "pings" getting higher and higher in pitch as you hammer them
Here we go. It's starting
There we went, it’s finished.
We're back. It's starting again
That blue colour of the mineral is stunning.😎🍺🇨🇦
Definitely a smart guy. He said "time to put my cameras back in place now that the inspector is gone.." never trust anyone not even the government. Smsrt smart move.
Hope you are feeling better. Please take care and thank you for quality content.
Gotta say, I enjoy these OPS vids more than any of the gold or other gem videos.
Holy crap Dan.
YOU SHOULD DO WHATEVER YOU WANT.
I love the constant excitement!!! I listen to your videos while doing homework and it keeps me very entertained. Thanks for sharing all you do!
Pretty interesting how the cut and polished faces of most of those rocks look like seascape paintings!
