I was skeptical but can honestly say this works. It sucks to wake up frequently but it’s worth it. The only accidents that have happened are because of mistakes I made. I set a timer for every 2-3 hours since he’s 8 weeks and it’s been great. This is a great video

We always stood outside until there was a wee or poo. Even if we were standing there for an hour in the snow and my pup was happy to sniff around and I was standing freezing my ass off. But I still stood out there with her. She’s flawlessly housetrained now!
This is absolutely brilliant. Our first dog (who is now a grandpa dog!) was trained by being locked in a bathroom with puppy pads by his original owner. He would look for any rug in the house (because it looked like a puppy pad to him, poor guy) to potty on. When we adopted him, our only goal was “potty outside.” Puppy pads were not an option, so we did this very method you’re showing in this video and it worked! Now, years later, we’ve introduced a new puppy and I’m like, ehhh, maybe we should just do the hard-core week of taking this new doggo outside every two hours like we did with our older dog. People have been calling me nuts, and telling me to be lazier and use puppy pads, so I’m SO GLAD I found your video! I’m doing it this way. It’s a week of my life and the rest of my dogs life, so totally worth it. Thank you!
This is the perfect video for me. My pup is 9 weeks and looks exactly like yours. Crate training is going great. I set alarms to take him out at 11 pm, 1:30 am, 4 am, and 6 am. However, during the day I take him out at least every hour, but he'll still have an occasional accident during playtime. He's easily distracted, even when I have treats, and tries to eat everything on the ground. No way I can have him off leash when outside. In the house he'll leave everything. Outside he'll eat everything.
I loooove your videos, I adopted a shelter puppy last year, he was almost 3 months and I literally took him potty every hour and a half, even at night, and then went doing that Window of time a littler bigger every month and he learn to go potty outside in just a month!!! Being patient and constant for a months is the key and they learn and of course the treat reward! Thank you so much! I’ve learned a lot with your videos 😊

How To Give Your Puppy The Healthiest Start To Life ?? It’s simple: feed them the way nature intended-with a species-appropriate raw food diet. Providing puppies with a varied, balanced, raw diet is one of the best ways you can help them grow up to be strong, healthy, thriving dogs. amzn.to/38iFlk3
Then you seriously need to seek help you cannot train a puppy in a week what’s the rush let them learn in their time love them first get your relationship right everything else will follow don’t be in a hurry have patience they are babies who need love first you don’t need money grabbing idiots to advise you learn from your dog he will teach you
@@sandralancaster7046 the best thing you can do for your puppy IS to train them as soon as possible. letting them run free is only going to make things harder for both you and your puppy later down the road, it's entirely possible to give them love while also training them :/

My puppy is 5 months old. We’ve had him a week and he’ll go on the puppy pad (mostly) but I can’t seem to get him to go pee (or poop) outside except for first thing in the morning. He will be outside for 15-30 minutes and when I feel he’s not gonna go, bring him in. I then hawk-eye him knowing he’s about to go and I must drift off or something because he always finds a way to go! It’s very frustrating. I’m trying to feed and water on a schedule, take him out frequently, and look for behavior cues but this little booger is frustrating!!! Any suggestions?! 😊
Just wanted to say that I know this video is older but this past Sunday I rescued a puppy after watching her run across a five lane highway. I could tell by the way she was walking that she was terrified after crossing the highway so I had to turn my car around and go back to check on her. She was starving and so dehydrated that she was struggling to even stand up. We really weren't planning on keeping her but she quickly stole our hearts. I was SO scared that I wouldn't be capable enough to train her BUT we followed all of your tips and she is doing SO WELL!!! She's been home from the vet for 5 days and is already going to the door to be let outside! Just wanted to say I really, REALLY appreciate the helpful advice/tips. You've definitely earned a life long sub from us. Hope you're doing well! 💜💟
Great video…. I just got a rescue puppy yesterday and managed to potty train him within about 7hrs… he’s 8-weeks old and 8.5 pounds (Golden CavPom Mix)… after 3 mishaps in my home office, now he cries whenever he needs something … no issues ever since and he held his bladder all through the night in his crate…. He’s a very smart boy
This is an amazing video. Got a 10 week old puppy just over a week ago and he is not having accidents in the house anymore. Followed these tips very closely, when my pup has his nose down and circling it's time to go out! One helpful tip I'd like to add is take notes of the times the puppy was last out/watered/ate. This will help you know approximate times the pup will need to go so if you see the nose down and circling then you better grab that pup and run! Lol
Play pens are so important and something I see a lot of my friends NOT use when they get a new pup (although I keep my advice to myself unless they ask). I kept my Lab in a play pen his first few months and let him earn his run of the house slowly. Whenever he was out of the play pen during those first few months, he was 100% supervised. Doing this helped keep him from getting into things and being destructive. For his entire life, he never destroyed a single thing in the house (he passed away a couple of years ago). Most people I know get a dog and just let them loose in the house to explore and do whatever they want....and that's what the dog does. Whatever he wants -- which YOU don't want. I'm picking up a mini Bernedoodle in a week and plan on raising him the same way.
I have always trained my puppy to adult without using a crate - I limit their movement to a small room or bathroom and like your suggestion at multiple walking - I also have a timer that has a special ring that my new or young dogs learn to respect as outside time.
Hi Rachel, I don't know if you pick up on new comments from your old videos but I had to tell you what an amazing success we have had with your advice. We picked up our new 8 week old Newfypoo puppy and made sure to take him outside every hour from when he got home to midnight and then every 3 hours. He went potty from the first hour and every time after that! He picked up on the route from the front room to the back door and by the afternoon of day 2 he was asking to go out!! We have had no accidents or puppy pads in the house since he arrived. He's a real smart kid from his parents but I think its your recommendation plus our consistency that has pulled it together. We are binge watching ALL your advice on EVERYTHING puppy and would recommend this approach to every new puppy parent. Thank you xx
This was super helpful! The breeder had a “ rabbit tray” and trained them to go inside. So at 12 weeks this has been more challenging than my first dog. Even though I was crate training, restricting the area, so many of these but you really filled in the holes for me! Hope things get better 😊
My beagle only barks when needed. Usually when she sees a squirrel or rabbit. She is one of the best dogs we’ve had. Very easy to train but I high prey drive and will run after anything that crosses the yard. It’s important to train them to heal from the beginning.
I have a beagle and it’s very difficult. When I leave him in his crate for a little bit and he doesn’t see me, he starts screaming. And I feel like I’m not getting anywhere with the potty training and I’ve had him for a month
@@Nashlyville do you think you could take it to your local pet store? i know petco does training and i’m pretty sure petsmart does as well, maybe they could help

My 5 month old chihuahua that I just adopted is not potty trained. I keep him confined, and watch him like a hawk. Every hour I take him outside and reward when he goes potty outside. I'm on day 3 now and did not have an accident. Remember it's 0f outside right now. His biggest reward is going back inside.
We have been very fortunate with our 12 week old rat terrier. We've had her for 2 weeks and she came from an Amish family who apparently was already working on housebreaking. Bella only pottied in the house the first day, TWICE right at the back door. We just opened the door and said outside and she has not gone inside since. She goes out before bedtime around 10 pm and once around 3-4 in the morning. She starts to whine in the kennel to let us know she needs to go! We're realistic and know she may still have accidents etc so we're prepared and just use positive reinforcements. She has also learned sit, stay, drop (to drop something she isn't supposed to have) and stay! "Come" has been a bit more difficult. She has SO MUCH energy! But she hit's it more than she misses! We really are blessed. We love your channel and will continue to use your advice and techniques.
Wonderful video!! So much info to digest. Still deciding whether i’m ready to take on the responsibilities as a canine owner. Looking forward to seeing more puppy tutorials. Thank you
S F she’s been potty trained basically a week after i got her. she caught on pretty quick. dogs are so smart if you’re consistent. i only crate her when i leave... she won’t potty in the house if i leave her, but she did tear up my carpet one time so now i keep her in the crate when i leave.
Hi, I have a 13 weeks old puppy, I have potty trained him with your technique and it’s working pretty well now. He is always asking to go out by the door when needed. Now my question is during the night. I can wait about 4h between having to wake up when can I start with a full night of sleep ? Thank you so much
I’m happy to hear this on your video because I was thinking I needed to take my rat terrier puppy out over in the night even if I had to wake him up out of his sleep. Thank You so much. 😊👍
Our dog yoda died at 14 and we've had some depressing months without an animal. It actually really effects me not having a pet in the home. Anyways we just got an 8 week old kitten and German Shepherd at the same time and I'm really enjoying these videos ♥
I watched this right before we got our puppy a few weeks ago and I can comfortably say that he is house trained at 8 almost 9 weeks now in just under a week. We incorporated a hanging bell and he knows to run over and hit it with his nose anytime he needs to go out. And he has only had 1 or 2 crate pee accidents (both my fault) since we got him. He whines when he needs to go out during the night and we’ve got it down to only 1 time a night he needs to be let out. We are currently working the puppy biting using the technique in her other video which also seems to be having a positive affect! Thanks!!
@@craftswithabby3357 every time I took him out to potty I took his paw or nose and rang the bell and said “potty” and vet time he touched it (whether on purpose or accident) I opened the door and let him out and eventually he realized that the bell meant the door would open and since I never let him potty inside, he associates outside with potty. It’s been a life saver. He caught on fast and we have one in our room too for when he’s in there and the door is closed. We also take one with us if we go to someone’s house and he uses it too.
@@craftswithabby3357 in the beginning, I also rewarded him each time he touched the bell with his nose and soon he would do it for the treats and eventually I didn’t have to use the treats anymore.

Bear in mind, that if your puppy hadn’t had all 3 rounds of shots, the most wide-spread epidemic out there is PARVO!!! In short, you will NOT be able to take her outside!!!
How are you doing with yours? I got a miniature Australian Shepherd and he’s 5 months now. I need to more actively train him. He even pees when I pick him up, when he refuses to go outside.

I feel like my pup doesn’t want to pee outside because of the cold lol *** Update on my pup, She's 2 years old now and uses the doggy door very well. But now she's starting to pee inside only when it's super cold or super windy. I started getting pee pads for times like that***

Same problem. He runs right back to the door

I was skeptical but can honestly say this works. It sucks to wake up frequently but it’s worth it. The only accidents that have happened are because of mistakes I made. I set a timer for every 2-3 hours since he’s 8 weeks and it’s been great. This is a great video

Videos on all aspects of having a pup are most welcome. My young adult son rocked up with a pup yesterday and he has a lot to learn. Reading isn’t his thing so your videos will really help him. He is also more likely to listen to social media for tips than to me. 😂 Thank you so much.
We’re getting our mini Aussie this Friday, and I can’t wait to implement these hacks!! Thank you so much!
This worked unbelievable well for me my dog actually got COMPLETELY trained in 4 days

Thank you for this information. When I first got my puppy- 10 weeks old- we started out great. But what I just realized is that I rush her too much to potty. Fannie and I are starting fresh this morning thanks to your video this morning. And I love your presentation.
I watched this video right before I got a puppy and this video definitely worked. After a week she was fully poddy trained. Thank you so much for doing these videos. all of the advice and tips you are giving is so good.
Thank you. Just got a boston terrier and doing almost every thing right. I am just struggling with no 2. He sneeks away to do it. (Ps i am a care giver to a quadriplegic) God bless thank you for all the hacks
For real? Awesome 👏👏👏👏
So you set a timer getting up every 2-3 hours in the night?
Thank you Rachel. I am a pet sitter and I'm currently sitting a gorgeous Great Dane pup. Earlier today the pup did her business inside and I went the wrong way about it. I feel so terrible and I immediately looked for a guide on what to do. Your vid has just helped me immensely. Thank you. ❤ Sending you warm regards and love all the way from South Africa. Take care. It’s been 15 yrs since I had a puppy . This is a good refresher for me. Cept it is cold to potty train now, lol ! But it is what it is. The rewards are worth the work.
I have relied so much on all your new puppy videos for my very first puppy Koda and these tips have been a complete life saver. Thank you so much!
I find your way of explaining is super helpful my 8 week old frenchie is doing soo well. Already for 8 weeks I am soo impressed with him
Hi Rachel, your recommendations were spot on. The playpen method is a game changer. Plus, she loves her Diggs crate.
I love how you love to point out that Wallace is your brother! So sweet!
So so sweet Adel 😍
Thank you so much! I really needed your tips! Just adopted a 3 month rescue lab :)
this works!my 8 weeks puppy leanrt business outside on the lawn in 9 days.
be warned that 1st week is full of frustration but after that joy!salute to the great video and our smart puppies 🎉❤
We always stood outside until there was a wee or poo. Even if we were standing there for an hour in the snow and my pup was happy to sniff around and I was standing freezing my ass off. But I still stood out there with her. She’s flawlessly housetrained now!
most common sense reply.
We just got our 8 week old goldendoodle puppy, Leo, yesterday! Your videos have been so helpful and amazing in preparing for our guy! This one came at a perfect time. Thank you Rachel!!

Then you seriously need to seek help you cannot train a puppy in a week what’s the rush let them learn in their time love them first get your relationship right everything else will follow don’t be in a hurry have patience they are babies who need love first you don’t need money grabbing idiots to advise you learn from your dog he will teach you
@@sandralancaster7046 the best thing you can do for your puppy IS to train them as soon as possible. letting them run free is only going to make things harder for both you and your puppy later down the road, it's entirely possible to give them love while also training them :/
@@saarika497 Absolutely. And what about all these expensive freeze-dried, natural ladeeda food. A puppy would cost more to feed than my family. Again people...don't listen to all these sales pitches.

So happy I found your channel. I love your style of instruction, so personable and kind. I have a new puppy and have been on a good potty schedule with a few accidents. However, I am getting some positive results. Thank you for doing what your doing 😊

I just found your channel. We are getting a doodle in two days. I am binge watching. Learning so so much.
I would like to say thank you. My puppy Chloé has learned the routine in less then a week. I am so grateful for your advice.
He’s a very smart boy
how!
Did you say “tap your kidney” when he first peed outside in the video? So confused lol

Lol
Third dog, first one I needed to house train, and I'm getting so much great advice here thanks. Every puddle is my mistake and I own it :)
Awesome story I had my puppy for a week and he is amazing and he has not had an accident nor potty pads. I am so blessed

You did an amazing job explaining every single thing. I appreciate it!!!! Keep up the amazing work!!!!!!
This was super helpful! The breeder had a “ rabbit tray” and trained them to go inside. So at 12 weeks this has been more challenging than my first dog. Even though I was crate training, restricting the area, so many of these but you really filled in the holes for me! Hope things get better 😊
“the nose going to the ground” i have a beagle 👁👄👁
i'm getting a beagle soon and i'm very nervous about their barking. Do you think its really bad and loud or is it just normal??
My beagle only barks when needed. Usually when she sees a squirrel or rabbit. She is one of the best dogs we’ve had. Very easy to train but I high prey drive and will run after anything that crosses the yard. It’s important to train them to heal from the beginning.
@@carolinavarela3892 if you don’t train them correctly they can be a bad experience just make sure you know what you’re getting into
I have a beagle and it’s very difficult. When I leave him in his crate for a little bit and he doesn’t see me, he starts screaming. And I feel like I’m not getting anywhere with the potty training and I’ve had him for a month

Thanks to your tips, I trained my 8 week old chihuahua min pin mix in 3 days! I still watch her like a hawk but she had zero accidents yesterday and our night time routine is perfect! I have a 10 wk old black Labrador about 2 weeks ago and he need to go out every 30 to 45 mins to avoid having accidents inside the house but it makes sense now looking at this video that he may also still not be emptying his bladder completely. Learning lots still thanks to your videos!

We literally just got a puppy yesterday and istg this vid helps so much because he had SO MANY ACCIDENTS

How long did it take for her to be fully potty trained? Is she still in a crate? Trying to plan for our little one.
S F she’s been potty trained basically a week after i got her. she caught on pretty quick. dogs are so smart if you’re consistent. i only crate her when i leave... she won’t potty in the house if i leave her, but she did tear up my carpet one time so now i keep her in the crate when i leave.

Hey this is really cool. I just got myself a new puppy and I’ve been trying to learn as we go so thank you
My new puppy is snoozing on my lap. Great video. Thanks so much for this. Huge help!!!
Thanks!!
How do you get your dog used to ringing the bell
