1. Find dedicated spot to put potty pads that is easily accessible for the dog, preferably tiled for easier cleaning
2. If they chew on something they’re not supposed to, do not make it exciting for them by yelling, hold the item and stay still until they let go then reward them for letting it go
3. Surround potty pads with playpen/crate to make area more designated, make sure it overlaps a few inches of the playpen
5. Introduce them to potty pad area, reward when they show interest or sniff it
6. Walk dog to potty area every hour and after they eat, sleep, or play and use a command like “go potty”
7. Practice leash training while walking them to potty area
8. While they are doing the potty (not after) at the potty area, use a marker word, clap, and do positive reinforcement like give them a treat
9. During accidents, don’t scold, pick them up and put them in the potty area
10. Always watch out for potty signals like sniffing or pacing around, immediately bring them to potty area and wait until they go potty
11. Leave a little pee or poo so they can smell it first before you clean it up, they will most likely pee/poo in the same area
12. Start reducing the size of the potty area by gradually limiting it to a single pad and make them go potty in that small area, this can also be a segue to get them to go potty outdoors
13. Gradually move potty pad nearer to the door and start taking them outside to potty. Walk them outside every hour. Consistency matters, since you put a command to it they will understand what go potty means then reward them when they go potty outside
14. Consistency is key.
Yo, chill , might as well have my dog in the military
Thanks for sharing
Everyone told me not to train my dog to use pee pads because then they will pee inside anywhere. My dog lived 13 years and never went anywhere but the pee pads (or outside). When he went blind he would UNDERSTANDLY sometimes miss the pads a little, but a kennel trey kept it all contained. It was the best decision I made, as I always lived in 2nd floor apts. It was also a life saver during storms and hurricanes when going outisde is impossible. I used LOTS of positive reinforcement for him as a baby and it worked.
My dog pees EVERYWHERE except the pads.
So glad I lost $35.00 buying those (sarcasm)
My pup can't go outside until January do to him needing the rest of his vaccines so this is much needed
Same !!
I was able to train my puppy to use my outside patio concrete area as his bathroom area.
Once my puppy is fully vaccinated I will allow him to use the grass areas.
My 8 week old puppy is running up a stream with my 5 year old dog without shots. She goes Wednesday for shots but if the dog is hardy it can handle outside just fine.
@@UA-camcansuckmyshithole
Your are incompetent if you can’t afford and/or not responsible enough to get a 5 year old dog shots what makes anyone think you will give a 8 week old puppy shots puppies can’t get all there shots until a minimum of 14 weeks so there still vulnerable until about 1-2 weeks after there last set of shots.
Dogs can get many diseases in the soil and grass including heart worms this is why you don’t let unvaccinated puppies run outside in the grass at there age there a walking explorer they will eat, lick, play, or put in there mouth this includes stray cat poop anything and everything.
Terrible pet parent because I guarantee you would not be able to treat your puppy for heart worms if they coughs it due to your negligence… It’s expensive!!
Mine too she's only 9 weeks better sd wait till she gets her rabies vax till then its house training
Update on Ace - I have gotten him involved in playing some of the games ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU and I can see a difference in his confidence already! My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!
Every dog I owned, I failed, due to not being able to take them out as much. Due to 2 jobs and 9 cold months a year. I now will take this route, indoor potty training, but still can do one cold walk a day, lots of indoor play, and when weather permits, I'm always outside.
My fur baby was trained 1st to use pee pads, and then I trained him to go outside. Now he uses both (outdoors when he's outside, pee pads when he's inside). I believe that's healthier for his kidneys, less stressful for us (the humans can go out without worrying or giving our house key to a dog walker, etc), and infinitely more practical. He gets daily walks and playdates and visits to dog parks to sniff around and exercise, as well.
Omg yes I agree about the bladder problems it can cause. If humans don’t want to hold in their pee for hours why in the world would a dog want to. It’s so uncomfortable. Most trainers bash on potty pads. But honestly it’s so convenient. I work from from home so I’m able to take out my puppy every 1-2 hours to potty But my pup is a notorious peer so He will not hold in his pee for more than 3 hours. he will have accidents on his pads. Better than the floor 😅 the only problem is that sometimes the pee goes out the pad when the pee is too much.
@@l.vlogs26 can you please help me? I'm at my end with boyfriends dog. She's no puppy (4yrs old) but was trained improperly. Before I met him she would uncontrollably pee on my foot if excited and it would be super uncomfortable. When we moved in together immediately she started marking our apartment. Even if we lay the pads out she would pee & poop on the rugs which are cream white but now it has stains. She's a chihuahua. She rarely plays😢. Tugs on the leash , and just does everything but not nibble? She jumps on people and tries to eat their food. I think it's taking a toll on our relationship because the smell is unbearable. And the pee is so inconvenient. She pees on pillows and etc. The thing is I'll train her and he'll come back and do the counter opposite of the training. I just need to know is there a spray that kills bacteria in certain spots so she doesn't use it there? Because she's smart. Soo she'll poop by the pad or if I catch her she poops in the air going her cage. I had a pit before and she was an easier dog to train. I was in college so they forced me to give her away. She was the best. I want a dog but it completely turned me off to me not wanting another one. I'm constantly stepping, smelling, or seeing pee. She started peeing on the rugs so it's harder to detect the pee. But the smell is just the same.
If you could also read my comment❤ because I believe it will cause my relationship to end if we can't train her or get her trained
@@iamchristelleh I understand how frustrating it can be because I have a 5 month old who is stubborn. I would never ever get a puppy again lol. There’s always ways to help but it takes patience & consistency. Because it genuinely sounds like she has no idea that she is only supposed to potty on the pads.
Jumping : I recommend to not greet her all excited. Don’t even talk to her/look/pet her until she is calm. Even with your guests, tell them to ignore her cause she will end up peeing. If you have a leash on her, before she attempts jumping.. a small tug saying “off”
Peeing: does she have a play pen or crate? If she’s being everywhere have a limited space for her when she’s unsupervised. Do not give her the privilege to be on your couch or beds. That’s earned within time. In your situation you would have to take her outside to potty every 1-2 hours until she gets the hang of it. If you still want to use pads set up a designated area. Physically take her to the pads the minute she eats/drinks. Having a leash & gently showing her that is where she is supposed to go. When she starts potting say “good potty”. Praise her for her action.
Also no food or water after 6-7pm. So her bladder won’t get full. Take her on her last potty before bed then back to her crate or play pen.
Also, a lot of dogs will continue peeing on stuff because they can physically smell their pee/poop there. Even if you cleaned sometimes the scent still lingers. Which is maybe why she continues peeing everywhere. I use vinegar and tea tree oil to cut off the smell. When you wash bedding put in vinegar & baking soda.
This is my goal. That he will go both on the pad (when we’re not home) and outside.
Thank you for acknowledging that sometimes potty training indoors is the best solution for ones particular circumstances, ie, hours worked, wildlife in yard etc. I have a Maltipoo who’s becoming pretty good at using her potty pads ( in a grate), but she also goes outside when needed on walks, outdoor playtime. It seems quite natural for her to be cross trained and that makes life much easier for all of us.
Yes! My yard is like Nat Geographic. Not looking forward to defending puppy from wildlife during a 2am potty break outside.
Right! Parvo is an epidemic where I live. Puppies cannot go outside until vaxxed
My dog is cross trained as well, and it is WONDERFUL!!
@@renaej3796 how do you do it? I agree. I have a standard and have major fears of going to work because of the idea of him not doing a wee for a long day.
how do you do it? I agree. I have a standard and have major fears of going to work because of the idea of him not doing a wee for a long day. When dogs get old they cant go outside so easily..especially if you have stairs.. I wish I cross trained all.
Thank you for normalizing puppy pad training. Our puppy will be arriving in the dead of winter. Today is minus 15 Celsius and too cold for our other dog to go out. I’m also disabled and not always able to get the dogs outside. I’ve always used this option and our current dog knows, no matter where we go, to go on her pad. It makes it really easy to travel with her, especially in places where there isn’t an outdoor area for her to pee in. I hate when trainers insist this isn’t a good idea because sometimes it’s the only option.
I agree with you. My dog is trained both pad and outdoors and I love it!
who is Brandon?
@@lisetteem3054 I think u commented on the wrong comment lol
@@pretzelzss maybe.. it was a while ago.
@@lisetteem3054 yea that’s what I think lol
Thank you for normalizing this. I feel like I have gotten hate from friends and family for planning to train my puppy indoors on a grass mat. I live in an upstairs apartment and it is winter so taking him outside as often as he needs just doesn’t work for me. Then I had some fear that he wouldn’t switch to outside love all the tips
Situations like that maybe a balcony with a long grass mat to resemble being outside gl.
Omggg thank you so much. Been practicing with my golden doodle for about 3-4hrs. He’s four months the past two months before we walk “let’s go potty” I leash him we’d go. I watched your video today and tried the puppy pads. “Let’s go potty” id point at the pads. He understood sometimes other times I had to walk over with him and point to the pads. By the next hour I was able to just point & say “go potty”. He didn’t actually potty he’d just walk over and sit on the pads. Which means he understood. I gave him a treat each time he successfully did that(we did this for quite some time be patient) . I Gave him a break. He had an accident near the pads. So I walked him “let’s go potty” and tried again an hour later. This time I seen he was anxious and pointed at the pads he was confused I walked over with him and he peed!!! Still lots of work and practice to go but I’m super excited we got it on the first day within a few hours thank you so much. Was not looking forward to taking him to training!
Thank you so much for this , I live in a 3rd floor apartment and going out every hour is just not possible. My puppy uses the pads and I take her out 4-5 times a day where she also goes. I feel that when she’s older I can transition with no problem just like you explained. I was feeling so guilty for using the pee pads as so many trainers turn up their noses at it !!
@@xobelladonna2443 how is it bad?
@Dead End hey! Just read your comment. How is it going? I also live on the 3rd floor of my building. Will have my 8 wk pup tomorrow. The only thing making me anxious is perhaps the neighbours hearing her 😅 how do you deal with that?
@xobelladonna Did you not just watch the video? You can train a dog to pee in a designated area in the house.
I clean it up as soon as she has done her business, so I'm not sure what the problem is.. there is a designated area called the toilet for humans.. i
@@xobelladonna2443judgmental much?! What a rude thing to say!
Just want to thank you so much for this video. We were having the hardest time house training our puppy. We even had a trainer come to the house and gave us directions that were all over the place. We were even more confused and still no improvements with accidents. Started cruising UA-cam, came across your video, followed your directions to a T, and it's been smooth sailing ever since. Thank you! Thank you! Oh and yes, I'm a subscriber now :)
My Maltese did both. I got her at 9 weeks old, in January, in Alaska. She would go potty and poopie outside but used the pads inside. She was about 8 months old when I got rid of the potty pad and she was comfortable with a bell.
New puppy owner here , just wanted to say thank you so much for this video ! God bless❤

Any tips/tricks for indoor and outdoor potty training? I am getting my 8week old maltipoo in a week. I work 3 12’s a week so for those days I would like her to be pad trained and when I’m home I would like for her to be able to go outside. This is the first video and forum I’ve seen where it could be a possibility for both to happen. I’m thankful for the people in this group forum that are saying it’s possible and not scolding us dog mom’s that have no other option while they are at work.
My puppy pees literally 15-20 times a day sometimes back to back to back and shows no signs when he's going to do it. He's a little shit.
😂😂😂
LEGENDARY
Have you had any luck with your puppy? My puppy pees every 20-30 minutes….so far no accidents with pee because I set a timer on my phone but he’s 3 months old and can’t hold it apparently😂
@@alyssatrottier8814 My puppy pees beside the potty pads, sometimes he sleep on the potty pads with pees and shit on the pad. It's a disaster.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you! We will try your tips because we 1) live in the dead of winter and 2) in an apartment like you mentioned.
i swear you’re the best ! I’ve been watching your videos since i got my Pomeranian and she’s doing so good i’m a proud pup mom 🤗🤗🤗
Спасибо!
Wow wow wow! Thank you SO much 🫶❤️
Designated area is definitely working for our 11wk old poodle👍🏾. We ordered a play pen w/dog door and he's started going in there on his own.
This is the best methodddddd. I just trained my yorkie in 3 days. Thank you so much for sharing this method.
Even after 10 dogs I’m still learning things. Great video and thanks for your help!
Thank you for this! I’m getting a puppy tomorrow. And while I’m working from home now. I won’t be in about a month. By that time she’ll only be about 4 months. And my biggest concern is her not having access to outside to relief herself while I’m at work. A ton of people on UA-cam videos say they go home during lunch or hire a walker. My lunch is only 30 minutes and there is just no way I could afford a dog walker every day. My plan is to have a grate around her crate and get some fake grass. So when she’s able to hold her bladder a bit longer. I can take away the pad and it’ll be an easier transition since it’s the same texture.
To be honest it’s my biggest worry as I also live alone so this video saved me.
My puppy doesn’t show signs that he is about to go pee🙃
He just sits there. He pees while he is sitting down...
but when we are outside he sniffs the ground
So true 😭
wait they do that

Hello! I’m bringing my 9 week old toy poodle home next Friday and I’m planning on puppy pad training because I live in an apartment and work full time. How has it been going a year later? Still on pads? Is there a bad smell from the pads?
Hi there, thank you for this. I bought a very posh toy poodle puppy. By the time I received him, I had taken ill and my son offered to keep him until I was better. A week later I had to take him and since I was very weak, I struggled with this puppy. I didn't want the rest of the family to notice how frustrated I was, plus since we live on a farm in South Africa, we have a small doggy door and we cannot physically take him out all the time. I had to make him follow our other dogs, a golden retriever and a Jack Russell. I put down the pads for a long time and now he is 4 months old and he still does No 1 AND 2 just everywhere. Our house is fully gated inside and out - I'm in South Africa. I have had lots of puppies in my lifetime, but this gorgeous little poodle just wont. I'm at my wits" end. He easily runs out with the other 2 dogs but he'll come back with them and dot it inside. In the beginning I did go out with him all of the time. Lock and unlocked but it seems impossible. Please help - anybody.
This is great! I am able to go outside, so I potty trained my pup outside from the start but I was debating whether or not I should have used the pads, and this video helped me settle that! Thank you so much!!
Sofia Vidali you did the right thing 😍
My 3 month old puppy just arrived yesterday and has only had two accidents inside so far. The rest of the time we were able to take him outside to potty… but it’s super stressful as I am also toilet training my 3 year old with autism. 🥲 I’m wondering if I should use pads or just stick it out sense he is going outside…?
We also have a golden doodle… and hope for him to become our sons service dog for his autism
@@triciasmith2305 that sounds intense!! I can’t imagine how stressful that would be. honestly probably sticking it out would be best, I know it’s difficult to always go outside, but I swear it’s worth it once it clicks. Just take them out as often as possible. I wish you the best of luck!!! ❤️
@@sofiavidali5872 thanks girl! 😍 He’s getting better and has started going to the door now to let us know when he has to go potty 🤗 the only problem is most of the time he wants to eat grass and roll in it instead of going right away lol 😂 but thank you so much for creating these videos! 🥰 Your content so helpful!!!

This is really helpful and i highly recommend using this tip cause its works, ma'am you just earned a follow
I've never struggled potty training a dog till now. I have a mixed breed dog, honestly we rescued her from the streets lol. She looks like golden retriever mix with a bunch of stuff. Anyways, she doesn't show signals of having to go to the bathroom. I was able to train her to go outside, she's very smart and learned to do that (she always only liked going on grass or something soft/texturish, so she even went on this bathmat I have that was soft and textured indoors). But i can never tell when she wants to go, even indoors she just loves to smells stuff out of curiosity after getting inside. I would do it every hour, but my schedule doesn't allow for that, it was a miracle i was able to show her to go outside.
I used all her tips for pee pad training and it WORKED. Thank you so much!
I just brought a maltase/Shilu Tzu 8 weeks old and her Name is Monica I am trying to teach to toilet on a pad thanks for showing how to do it. I will start today the way you said.
I'm training my adult dog to use puppy pads. As she gets older, it's getting harder for her to hold herself, and I want to be sure she has options. She gets anxious even when she throws up inside. I dont want her golden years to become more stressful
I’m doing the same with one I rescued at 7 because I’m retired and downsizing so want her to have options as she ages if we’re in a multi-story building. She already seemed trained so I just continue the option at night.
You’ve given me a complete idea... thank you soooo much
I remember when my Yorkie was a puppy, the positive reinforcement word was “yay”. Ten years later, she still gets so excited when she hears it!
I potty train indoors and outdoors. Winters are hard here so my girls go inside the garage on cloth P pads we have a doggie door to get in there. In the summer the back door is always open for them. They have the best of both worlds and it’s totally possible.
I just brought home a toy poodle and this is my first time trying to potty train. You make it look so easy, I feel like it’s gonna take a year to fully train him. 😩
Same here I thought it was gonna be easy 4 days in trying to potty train he shits everywhere but pisses on the bed
Poodles are VERY smart dogs so it shouldnt take that long I have a Cavapoochon and a Havapoo both poodle mixes .
I will not take that long. He will pick up potty training quickly.
My puppy was going off and On on it, it took a long time but as soon i used this method he peed on the pad!!! Thankyou!
I just got my puppy yesterday. Going to give this a try because she keeps having accidents.
Did it work??? 😗
I'm trying this with my new pup. My 2 year old pup goes in the playpen regularly. I like the every hour trick. I'll try it thanks.
Okay, so can I take my dog outside in the morning and after work but let them go inside on a pad tray with grate while I’m at work?
No. They will only go outside
I can't se if my 2 puppies go potty outside or not but I do praise them when I see them go on the puppy pads
I’m bringing my Yorkie puppy home next week (at 10 wks). I’m so excited to start using your suggestions ☺️
Always used puppy pads to train my dogs. My current eldest was the easiest to train to use these then transition to outside. I took in a puppy 2 days ago which someone decided they didn't have time for now work has opened for them again since covid started. I feel they didn't even try and this puppy is potty anxious. She hides to do her buisiness and then becomes extremly anxious. I've done nothing but reassure and no telling off to try and help her lose the anxiety. This morning she used a puppy pad on her own and I went OTT with praise. She still ran away and hid bless her. I think the people who had her before may have scolded her every single time she had an accident. But 2 days in and she used the pad alone is impressive in my eyes. I thought this wouldn't happen for the longest time because of how she is with going. I expect plenty more accidents but I will follow your tips of taking her to it every hour to try and reinforce positive security and safety in learning for her.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm getting a new maltipoo puppy after quarantine and this video was very helpful! Thank you soo much!
Nicole Olazaba my pleasure!! Good luck 🙌
This explains why TuPaco will not go outside. He was pad trained prior to coming to me. He’s 5 months today. I hope we can get his 100% trained.
My puppy stops peeing entirely when I bring her to the pee pad and just refuses to go even if i stay there with her for an hour. She then proceeds to go right away after being let out of the pee pad and I will carry her back to the pee pad. The cycle will then continue... 🥲 Do you have any tips for a situation like this?
ik this videos old but i did this and hes already going to the pads on day two, TWO! thanks a lot for the tips ur the best
we have our 2 labradoodle puppies now and it’s so hard to get them on that pad! so that’s why i’m here obviously lol
I’m getting a new puppy Fri. I am back at work full time (teacher) and I know the timing isn’t perfect, but I know this is the right pup for me. I may have some friends that can help occasionally take him out once in the afternoon until I get home. My Shih tzu if 13 yrs passed away last Oct, so it’s been a long time since I’ve puppy trained and I wanna get it right this time.
does anyone else’s puppy just rip up the potty pads immediately 🙁

Yeah but u should try to get thicker ones and don’t give treats but also don’t yell, just say no calmly
This is great for people that work long hours or are disabled and can’t always get outside.
How do I transition the puppy outside when I live in an apartment. can you do a video for potty training in apartments! would really appreciate that!!!
Move the pads closer to the door
Walk them very often and stay out until the go potty and reward. They usually love the grass more than the pad and use other dogs that go outside as example, like friends or neighbour dogs and walk them together. They learn fast
I live in a condo in nyc. My maltipoo is 2.4lbs at 12 weeks Maybe will be 6-7lbs. He will have to learn how to use pads or grass patch. Got the grass patch. He just wanted to eat it. Using play pens in different rooms where I go each one has play area, sleep area, food area and potty area. I hope he learns on the paper more than a specific area in the house. The When he is older I will find a certain spot. Had him 3 weeks so we are still in beginner mode. He goes on the paper. Happily.
This is the first video of yours I’ve seen. I just subscribed🥰
My German shepherd/border collie rescue came out of a hoarding situation. We're having a heck of a time with getting him to potty outside AT ALL
We just got a golden doodle and we are the only ones in our apartment complex that have been allowed to keep a pet. Our landlord was hesitant after I asked but she said we are excellent tenants and she would not want to lose us. All she asked is that we be very discreet. For that reason we cannot take our dog outside. This video will help us potty train indoors.
That's sad
Our plan is to only have them for a short while as we have a backyard. We will have one in the crate and one underneath her fake grass potty pad which is in the playpen. Just in case of spillage 😅
Is it possible to do the reverse with a dog who has learned to go outside but now needs to go inside? Our winters aren’t great here up north for our little toy poodle.
@rachelfusaro
I’d like to know the answer to this too.
You’re amazing. Thank you. You’re always incredibly creative and so helpful and we love Finn🐾❤️🐾
Would u recommend putting puppy pads inside his crate for now? Or if i do that will I be confusing him making him think its for going potty not sleeping at night?
Curious too
I have a crate for my 8 weeks Yorkie. I put two crates together and made it longer so she has enough space. At the back I have the a few pads, in the front she has her toys and two beds so she can stretch out and relax. When she's in her crate she goes on the pad. I also have a wee wee pad outdoor of her crate next to the crate so when she comes out when I'm home and she's playing or I'm trying to train her she goes on that one as well. Sometime I take her out in the backyard. It's a lot but she goes on and potty. If you not watching her Oh' bet and believe my girl is taking a wee somewhere else 🤣
It's tuff! Makes you feel like taking two drinks! 😂
Hi Racheal! This is Carol, Brenna’s mom in law. I love your videos. Our new puppy is having so much success with her new crate. She chooses it for going nite nite every evening. Amazing. We took the Disneyland approach. Brilliant.🤗
Our next challenge is to keep older dog from preventing puppy from coming at my “come” command. Older dog, Lily, intercepts and blocks her path. Do you have a video addressing that?
OMG I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR SOOO LONG THANK YOU SO MUCJ
You rlly saved my life! Your video gives clear and better explaining than other videos. You earned a subscriber which is me!
We live in NYC. I don't have a yard. Taking a puppy out every hour in the middle of the night feels little intimidating to me. I would start with potty pads, as long as I can later transition him to going outside. He is a golden doodle, and I don't want him to go on a pad when he is bigger, LOL.
None of this has worked for but appreciate the effort.
My 8 week old puppy pees every 5-10 mins. Never makes it on the pad. It's hard to catch him because he doesn't sniff. He just stops and goes. Is it normal for him to pee so often?
it is. you should be taking him out or put him on a pad every 15-20 minutes or so and then he'll learn
my puppy did the same thing every time I caught her pee, I would bring her to her potty area and let her pee. she still does the same thing but she pees ever 10-20 mins now
just carry her on the pad whenever she's peeing or whenever she pee'd and keep her on there for a few seconds even after she's done.
I have a puppy for 3 days and she already poops and pees on the pad except when she goes out of my room to other more unexplored rooms and sometimes drops a little dookie :D
my puppy now uses the pee pad but sometimes she'll have an accident on carpet.
Nekolux My puppy knows where to potty, the pads, but always sneaks into my sisters room and pees on the carpet and it’s so hard to teach him not to do it but it happens almost everyday
In 2020 I purchased a mini goldendoodle (on the small size). The week I got him was when everything shut down. I had a month to stay home before returning to work. I’d take him out but as soon as we got in he’d go. My next door neighbor, a dog trainer (thank god) told me to start by taking him out every 10 min, and increase from there. I did that, and within a 6 weeks he was train, fully trained by 3 months. I use to put a diaper on him just in case, he wet himself in it a couple of times and hated wearing them, he’d hold his urine. I’ve tried introducing wee wee pads when the weather is bad, He would never!!! He’d come crying to me, but would not go on the wee pad.
Now we are at work full time. We’ve decided to get him a companion because he’s not use to being alone. My sister had a yorkie, that we kept post of the time so he always had a play mate (they’d play like kids) We will be receiving this new puppy in 2 weeks. I’m hoping to wee -wee pad train her. With hopes of outdoor walking in the future. I’m eager to see how that goes!!
I am getting a golden doodle to!!!!!! and l've learned lot all thanks to you ;)
Mekiah Pacheco woo!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thans for normalizing using puppy pads. As someone with a disability, physically bringing the dog outside is not an option for me especially during the middle of the night when I need a constant 8 hours of sleep to maintain my health. I have a labradoodle and he thanks you so much for teaching his mom how to properly care for him!
You say to go once an hour... How long should I wait there before trying again next hour?
I been a 14 yr cat mom. And i am crying 😫😫😭😭😭🤧 what was i thinking. I can't with his puppy eyes he won my ❤ 😂😂😂😂 ok ill try it wish my luck and pray my cat keeps me alive. 😂
How do you recommend re-training a puppy to utilize the pee pads again? I have a 8month old shih tzu who was doing well on the pad for a few months but now reverted back to missing the pads or even the very corner of the pad
My Yorkie learnt to go outside and use the potty pad anywhere I place it around the house.
Thanks for this video, we're getting our first ever puppy in 5 weeks and living in an apartment without a garden, taking him outside before vaccinations has been a big worry for us.
How long did they take to learn to use the pads? I’m in a apartment and just got her locked up in one area and I feel bad but still can’t risk pee and stuff everywhere else
I did this with my goldendoodle was so smart he did potty in yhe crate when he was a baby and eventually completely switched to outdoor potty. It was awesome. He never pooped or pee out of the crate.
Hi thank you for the training, I've had my puppy for about 2 weeks now and he's great. He pees everywhere despite the pads available to him, when he pottys somewhere I say 'uh-uh' pick him up and put him on the pad - he instantly stops. I worry that he may be holding it - then when I turn my attention elsewhere - he continues his business somehwere else. SO my questions are
1. how do i make sure he uses the pads (i know your saying to practice hourly - but he gets distracted and ends up getting off the pad - he doesnt derive anything interesting over there
2. when we go outside, he gets too distracted by other things that he doesnt do the job
3, How often should I change the puppy pads - when he does use them - it doesnt look like he actually pees in one spot
4. PLEASE HELP - it does get a bit frustrating because he could literally go potty less that 2m from the pad
you probably already found the solution but I put the pads in the exact spot on my carpet where my puppy went potty and then slowly moved them where I actually wanted them
First video from you and I subscribed within the first couple of minutes! Finally an understanding person who's giving me knowledge and tips I can actually use.
Hey Rachel i love your videos hey have helped me alot 😘 but i have a question you said to take your dog to the pad every hour but what if im not home??
Raisa Wajs when you are home :)
Hey Rachel - Thank you for taking the time and effort to product this excellent, easy to follow, video tutorial on your method for potty training on a pad - learned much and glad I viewed this video before tackling the job of this training.
can i teach my puppy to pee on puppy pads and outside at the same time? because if i’m leaving puppy in a playpen for a few hours i would need it to know to potty on the puppy pad but i also want him to pee outside when i’m at home. anyone have an answer?
Mamukie B yes I do the same thing with my dog.
Mamukie B yup! Also try this ua-cam.com/video/ndDjzemUlak/v-deo.html
Yes! That’s what I need to know too!
Same here. Is it confusing to do both at same time?

I have a shichi, she just had 6 puppies. She has had a problem with going potty inside sense I got her. And I’ve had her over a year. But I have to teach the puppies and her to go potty on the pad. So I really hope this works. I’m excited!! I’m going to be training momma first. So that the puppies can follow an influence from her.
Hi! Thank you so much for your content!
My 5 year old dog is very good about letting me know she needs to potty by going to the back door of our apartment.
HOWEVER, at night, she will get out of bed with me and have an accident, then get back into bed with me!
How do you suggest pad training for these “emergencies” at night or when we have our bad winters??
Thanks in advance!!
Thank you for this video. Could you make a video on how to potty train inside the bathroom?!
