This is the very best thing I’ve heard in almost forever. ;) I’m a homeschool mom and writing teacher who appreciates your simple, straightforward tips. Thank you!
In a former job I worked with manager over a team of technical writers, an extremely bright and well educated fellow. When a revised document was published, he would announce with tongue in cheek it was "perfect in every way".
One small thing that can often make your writing flow, even better, is by simply eliminating, whenever possible, the word “that.” See what I mean, as you review your future wrings. Thanks for these common-sense tips.
I remember that point from the West Wing where President Bartlett said exactly the same point about a “very unique opportunity to take part in an extremely historic event”. This is a really good example of why language matters and how it leads to great oratory.
Never left anyone a UA-cam comment before, and even signed up for a free trial on Premium (ad-free, yahoo!) just to realise that I am actually too busy right now to come looking for ANY more advice, from ANYONE, so thanks, but I will be coming back to watch this at a later stage. Sometimes we just have to stop working around writing, and just write. Right?! Love The Minimalist podcasts, having just "rediscovered" you guys, after life got in the way, FORCE MAJEUR-style, for a few years. You are on my short list (not "shortlist") of chosen influences: I don't use social media, so that is a short list! Thanks for providing this anyway, keep being cool and if you've any business ties with Amazon, please break them. They are not friends of the Earth, or the humans:) ❤
Tom grabbed his shotgun, placed it under his chin, and painted the ceiling with his brains.
He was very dead.
relatable
It’s almost impossible to convey how helpful this short video was.
I am a preacher and any advice I can find that helps me write VERY good sermons is VERY appreciated.

👍 We will be using this as part of our homeschool curriculum.
Thank you Mr. Millburn

Thank you, JFM. It is music to the ears when writing is kept clear and concise. Words become sweet and simple. Literary minimalism. Is that a thing?
It's absolutely a thing! Don DeLillo, Hemingway, and Didion are all considered minimalist writers.
Super helpful, thank you!
Thanks for this series! You're challenging us all to be better at our words
Great video thank you 😊
When are you coming to England? Would be great to see you hear 😊
Useful content, great delivery
Oh thank you! I am not a writer of books, but I am a writer of comments and the writing tips will help me leave better comments.
Love the delivery and a playful ending 👍
Love this video and the comments. Very hilarious, but very informative! 👍😁😊
Brilliant! Thanks again Josh! 🙌
It would be great to have your books and videos in spanish or CC! love everything you post!
Just a pleasure to hear someone speak about how to use language accurately.

Hooked me from the beginning!

Love this!
Language techniques feel underrated given that imposrtant life events will occur depending on language’s use.
Thanks Josh, a very enlightening video once again.
Nicely done
He left out the word pregnant in the beginning. My first cousin is 'very' pregnant.
Not my doing, by the way.
Great tip
Interesting!
Very interesting!
Strunk & White -- the OG.
This is the most unique video on UA-cam!
Brilliant! 😂
The misuse of "priority" in our modern day language has been an everyday conversation item lately.
This was "very" helpful! Truly. Thank you
With respect, unique definition is one of a kind. No descriptor. (very)
You didn't watch the video, did you?
Very interesting!... or should that be 'compelling' or 'riveting', perhaps? :)
This was awfully nice video 🙂
Joshua will not teach you how to write good. He'll teach you how to write better 🙂
He’ll teach you to write damn good
Hi
I hate the word Almost. So damn overused.
I see what you did there. 😉
Can’t you be “mostly dead?”
Light treason
very pregnant
Or maybe just a little pregnant?
