my rule for consistent handwriting: make sure to exaggerate the difference between letters where the strokes have the same general direction. Like, because r is curved more on the right stroke, with the left roughly straight, I make v visibly curved on the left stroke with the right straight or curved leftwards too. (no, that's not how it's supposed to look, but it's still recognizible). d in particular gets a huge ascender to avoid confusing it with a. q gets a curved one. g goes down a lot too, because otherwise I tend to write s instead

It is true the handwriting also differs from pens.... If you are comfortable with the pen your handwriting is bound to be neater..... But your handwriting will be even more neater while using a pencil pen tends to make it hard to write....... Also holding the pen the right way is also a very big point😊
I'm currently struggling to find my favourite mazari needle-point gel pens anywhere in stock while using crappy ball pens and pretending that I don't care about how horrible my handwriting looks. (And the purple-ish colour of ink used in cheap ball pens is just disgusting)
