I’ve had this for 3 years and had no side effects. My period was still 3 days without weight gain or acne. It really will depend on how your body responds. Won’t know until you try it ladies 🦋

@@TM-ms3rd so am i, i'm freaking terrier about going on it, because of the bleeding and the depression risks. i have personal issues with self image and how people see me. so i don't like the hormonal factor. the bleeding i'm not very fond of, i hate wearing pads and i cant do tampons. so i really scared and stuff. but i wanna try and i'll wait and see

I am on my 3rd implant… no side effects… make sure you change it before the 5th year and you are careful with not having sex when you are on antibiotics. If not changed, it stops working after 5th year and antibiotics might effect your protection with the implant.
I have it too I’d honestly recommend it I don’t even think about it it’s just there

Coming back to say idk anymore after 9 months with no period (which was great) now I’ve been bleeding everyday for months and I haven’t been able to go to the doctor cause of everything. I’ve read that there are ways to fix it like temporarily taking birth control pills to get it back to normal but if that doesn’t work I’m getting it removed 🙁

Another update I had to go on the pill while on the implant and it stopped so hopefully after about 2 months when I get off the pill the bleeding doesn’t come back 🤞🏼

I've had the Nexplanon implant for well over a year now. It heightened my emotions especially during my period its way easier for me to cry now. Before insertion I already had irregular cycles, but now my cycle is still irregular however its switched patterns & comes less frequently now. Also FATIGUE even with adequate amount of hours of sleep each night, I still wake up TIREDDD as if I never slept & that feeling never goes away (might also be because I'm a full time college student lol)
I had the same symptoms minus the period, mine stopped

I've had the implant for five years now (had it replaced once recently) and I have to say its great. Worst part was that I bled for like a month and a half at first and was literally almost ready to just take it out, but everything I read said u should just try to give your body time so I did. The bleeding stopped and I didn't have a period for like 2-3 years. Zero weight gain. I will say the first time I got the implant I also felt really depressed for like a good month maybe and I truly think it was from the bc. But overall it is amazing. 99.95% effective - I recently learned that it's actually more effective than a vasectomy! It makes sense but it was still interesting to me lol
I’ve had the Nexplanon for a total of four years. I’ve gained 50lbs. At first I didn’t want to blame it on the bIrth control but after being on a weight loss journey and being stuck on a plateau for months and doing everything right, I knew it was this sh** affecting me.
Make another update in 6 months and I’m sure you’ll have a different opinion! Hopefully it works for you girl!

@@blusaphirevixen Update: I took that Sh** OUT. I’m still overweight and it’s still a struggle to lose the weight. After I removed it in October 2020 it took 4 months to finally get my first period. I do not recommend it girl! The weight gain is unreal. And it doesn’t let you lose weight easily! Don’t get it!
@@analajoiner9455 I was eating the same amounts! I never binged or anything. Same exact amounts but it made me more tired and lethargic. Not too mention my sex drive was completely gone for a good 8 months. It was not a good experience. I’m still trying to shake off the weight. It messed up my hormones big time.
Honestly...am suffering from the same experience...its really hindering my weight loss journey so am getting it removed tomorrow

I’ve been on the implant for 13 days now, my face has gone from clear to horrible. I have acne on my face, a little on my chest, neck & back. I was suppose to get a period on the 4th and still haven’t got it yet. My headaches are much more worst then what they usually are. The 3rd day I was on it I felt sooooo sick, I couldn’t even stand. I’m fine now, my appetite is still there. not sure about my weight definitely gonna keep track!
Maile Gouveia My acne is the worst it’s ever been in my life & I get dark marks w/ acne so imagine how my face looks 😂. & I’ve gain hella weight.

@@NOCDIB the biggest side effect/most noticeable one I've had is my hormones! I have pmdd and a couple other mental illnesses that seem to be exaggerated from the implant, but with therapy and a good support system it hasn't led to too many lows! If you have anything like depression or anxiety I would get that looked at first before starting something like this, it can really throw you for a loop!
@@kiera1882 with the hormone issue, why did you choose that instead of, say, a copper IUD?
@@NOCDIB I didn't like the idea of something being in me down there so I went with the implant! I wanted my tubes tied and still do, but it's very hard to get that done while I'm still fairly young and don't have kids!

I got my Nexplanon inserted the first week of March, and have gained 20+ lbs since then. I’ve had horrible cramps with my periods, and my period cycles have been super irregular, like 60 days between periods, periods lasting longer and heavier. Very tender breasts. Major mood swings. I have friends who have it who love it and it works well for them with no symptoms, but this implant does NOT work for me. It was nice to not have to worry about taking a pill or scrambling to get Plan B, or worrying about unplanned pregnancy but for me its not worth it. I’ve been exercising like crazy for the last month and eating smaller portions and healthier, and I’m still gaining weight! I’m getting this removed ASAP.

Giley Francis thank you 💕 you can have the 20 lbs if you like!! I’ve only been able to lose about 5 so far but the other symptoms have gone away after having it removed!

Giley Francis I got the paragard IUD after getting nexplanon removed and I’m pretty happy with it. Insertion was pretty sucky but I like not having to worry about it and there’s no hormones 🙃

Your name is Lanie? That's so cool, I'm Lanie too and I've been been on the implant for just over 6 months. Definitely the bruising for me was uncomfortable too! I have a 4 and 2 year old and sleep with my two year. Wasn't fun. 😂. I'm from Scotland so I'm blessed to have the NHS. I'm still bleeding regularly like 5/7 days and yes it's heavy at points and long period. Mines was light before hand too after having two kiddies. My breasts get achy too! Still now... I hope I adjust soon - _-. Felt so weak before my last period. But it is handy feeling protected.. The stress of natural family was mentally worse. Just bleeding is physically worse! Aveline Lerette It’s been a roller coaster. I was bleeding normally the 1st 3 days and then had a brown discharge for the next 4 days. The 2nd week I was spotting blood for 3 days, then spotted brown mixed w/ blood. And I’m on my 3rd week now. So far I had 2 days that I was fine and didn’t bleed or spot. But as of 3 days ago, I had another period. It’s all over the place atm, but I’m glad I’m still able to get on with my days as normal and my mood has been normal.
I had my period for 6 months after getting the nexplanon my period ended on the end of November last year and now I’m feeling sick tired feel like vomiting so I got a blood test done today hope I’m not pregnant

I have had my nexplanon for 5 years now and I am having problems. 1st I started noticing alot of unusual clotting, then found out about a fibroid, gained weight like crazy than I had an extremely large amount of bleeding on my cycle. I would be soaked within 45 mins and very strong cramps during my cycle. They put me on Motrin 600 mg and birth control pills. The doctor told me these are side effects from the nexplanon. So at this time I am waiting to have this removed. Good luck on your journey.
Jobina Beale Im so sorry you had to go through that! It turned out that I menstruated for 20 days but it wasn’t just blood. I only bled for 6 days (spread out in 2 segments of 3 days over the course of the 20 days). I had a combination of sometimes brown discharge, spotting brown and or blood and 2 days of nothing but then having things come back. It definitely was all over the place but my periods were lighter than before I had nexplanon, and I had less cramps and pain. I am on my period now for this month, after 2 weeks of not menstruating but I am hoping my body has adjusted to it better than last month so I won’t have to deal with a 20 day cycle lol. Im giving myself 3 months to see if nexplanon will work for me.
It’s the mood swings and irregular cycles for me other then that I’m fine
I’ve had mines for 9 months now and the same thing happens to me my period doesn’t come until 2 months and mines last at least 1 week and 3days, been started to see myself gaining weight after 7months overall apart from that it’s great

I have had mine in for 2 and a half years and getting it out/reinserted in march... I love that I didn't have mood swings, weight gain, or acne just regulated my period every 28 days for 5 days and loss of appetite.

I’m on the shot I want to switch to the implant because I love how effortless the shot is so I feel like the implant will be even better. I also heal really well from scarring god bless my italian skin but that’s also why I think I’m going to get it !
I was on the shot too I chose nexplanon i just got it yesterday but to me the depo shot was too short plus my doctor fucked up my shot she said it needed to be chilled when it shouldn’t have so that’s another reason why I got the nexplanon but I’m sure you’ll be fine love ❤️

I've just got my 3rd one and it's been nothing but amazing for me. The ONLY negative side effect is that I get one consistent pimple on my chin, maybe 7 times a year. Like cystic acne, but just the one. In the same part of my chin, every time lmao. Other than that though, no periods, no cramps, no mood swings or weight gain, etc. Definitely recommend giving it at least a year if you can, and hopefully you'll also be blessed with good side effects lmao

I'm on year four and I love it. I get random spotting but it's better than a baby and getting regular periods. My only complaint is that since I have brown skin w/ yellow undertone you can see it and the circle scar from where it was inserted.

Yes i’ve had mine for 2 years, I bled for like almost 6 months straight it was very uncomfortable so I went to my family doctor and he prescribed me another oral birth control that had the other hormone (because the implanon only has one hormone) so it can balance my period and I think the bleeding stopped like 2 almost 3 weeks after so that was really good and then I got my period maybe 4 months later and my period lasted longer I think 10 days or a little longer I can’t remember but now one month later i’m spotting again so I know i’m starting to get my period. I have gained alot of weight too after getting this, I got it one day after I delivered my baby by c-section, so thats the downside but afterall it’s been a really good and helpfull experience.

I just got mine removed yesterday. It made my period over two weeks long and unpredictable. i was always the girl with a very very consistent 5 day period. It also made me depressed and I would change moods at the drop of a hat.
The first 6 months of nexplanon is awesome tho
I am on my 3rd implant… love it.. no noticeable side affects… after about a year on it no periods… just make sure you replace it before 5 years and no sex if you are taking antibiotics bc you might get pregnant….

I’ve had mines for 1 year and I recently started breaking out around my chin area smh . I believe it’s hormonal acne. But it sucks im not sure if it’s because of BC. Has this happened to anyone else ?
It could be your face mask :) I’m not on any birth control and developed acne around the same area from the face masks
I got mine a month ago. I had a huge bruise too. And also got an allergic reaction to the steri strips that was painful. And also just got my period it is all crazy
My son is 10months .... I got mine in October...the first period last 3months...then I was off for 2weeks... been bleeding since then!!! Nonstop and I’m not talking about spotting an actual period !!!

I just got mine today! I’m allergic to local anesthetic (lidocaine) so I did it with no numbing or medication and it wasn’t painful at all, just tender!!
Iv been on the implant for 5 years going on 6 and I love that I don’t have to worry about it , it dose the job . Haven’t gotten prego yet ...... I had really bad acne and once I got the birth control it went away I also had bad cramps and it went away as well 🙌🏼 BUT .....I’m constantly on my period ... some days it’s heavy some days it’s light some days it’s dry blood aka old .... iv been on my period for 3-4 weeks straight sometimes.... and get UTIs a lot idk if it’s because of the implant but once I got it .. I started getting them ... and idk iv been really depressed lately... it’s been years now and I’m Mexican so I didn’t believe that it could be the birth control but Idk what els it can be ! I see ppl say the implant makes them depressed and emotional... so I want to try a new method but I’m scared to change
It’s possible that it could be the birth control, but honestly, there are so many things that can contribute to feelings of depression. With the whole pandemic, a lot of people are reporting feelings of depression and anxiety, so it’s a weird time for everyone right now. Changing life routines can definitely impact one’s mental health. If you think it is the birth control though, it’s worth bringing up to your doctor.

It’s been three years for me,getting it taken out in December, my period still comes and goes ( the longest I’ve gone without my period is 6 months 😅) so yeah
I just got mines out for having it for 2 years and honestly for my body it was not got it had many side effects like ,migraines and I would constantly get my period for like 2 weeks straight with really really really bad cramps the first 3 days then my period would go away for like a month then come back I found that so weird and I did not like it becuase how much I would bleed. My overall body seemed to not like it and reject it I would sometime get sad and emotional for no exact reason as well I honestly think for my body the nexplanon had a really big side effect on my hormones and emotions as well as body for me it was a no . (Before nexplanon I was on the depo shot and I had none of these side effects except I would get mild migraines ) this comment is just to share my experience btw . Hope it can help .
My obgyn told me that you could only see what it would be like once you were 6 months in . She said not to take it out till then because the effects are still changing
I got this implant end of November.. when I started my period in December *IT HASN'T STOPPED* it's February 16th yea greatest birth control I can't even have sex. 🙃😩

I do not recommend the implant. It broke inside my arm and was pouring an unknown amount of hormones into my body for nine months because you cannot tell it is broken from external touch. I found out when I got it removed because I was having abnormal headaches, extreme mood swings, and depression. I haven't been on birth control since.

My side effects was right after I got it I was super sleepy and was super emotional wanted to cry for a couple days over nothing. I’ve gained weight I used to be 90lbs but now I’m 125. Had it for almost two years. If aches sometimes for me and hurts. I haven’t felt depressed since and feel happier and more positive. My V has gotten dry and I don’t have any discharge. My periods are irregular and I do get hot flashes. I get a lot of menopausal symptoms. Idk how to help with the dryness or if it’s normal

3 months in and I got my period about a month later lasted FOREVER!!! I just got on my period last Monday & im still on it ... I used to have my period for 3 - 4 days with horrible cramps. But i get it for about a weeks or two now with no cramping at all.

Just got mines inputted yesterday and I’m wondering could thesec effects be immediately. I suffer from pressure headaches but have not had none since yesterday it’s been consisted unable to work or function not sure if it’s from the birth control or what. I randomly suffer from migraines but it go away with by medicine

I had mine done yesterday and it’s sore but glad I got it done again and the only problem is it’s bleeding but the plaster isn’t covered in it but the implant is done for 3 years
When I had it, I didn’t get my period for the first year and right at the one year mark I’d have my period for three weeks out of the month each month. It’s why I took it out, lol.

Im taking mine out tomorrow im scared i dont want anymore kids i have two boys already but with the nexplanon i get big headaches that last 2 days and have severe bad depression and mood swings and gained weight alot i just wanna be free
I have had two so far.
the first one was too shallow for my liking because of sports so I removed it and replaced it to be a little deeper. I maybe only had my period like 4 times in a year but after the year i got it ever 3 or so months and it lasts for at least 2 weeks but it's not that terrible. I'm replacing it again tomorrow 👏🏼
when you get your period is it heavy or light?
@@madyvalle1481 it's kind of in the middle compared to my normal period in the beginning of more frequently getting my period again. More recently it's been heavier but not like how my heaviest used to be before bc. it starts of very lights for a few days then goes to being a heavier flow for 5 days and then it's light again for another few days.
we get told two weeks later not one but whatever time period ur given its always best to wait just a few more days.
I got one today, but I have numbness in the palm of my hands and my fingers. Is this feeling normal or should I worry?

Update: I gained weight ig it's taking forever, but my periods are lasting longer my stuff is medium now🤨🤔

How can u help, after implant am bleeding continuously
I believe the hormone in the implant is progesterone... And when I was on the shot which was a progesterone birth control I got no bleeding after I got it... I am currently using the implant and it's actually amazing! 😊 I gained a bit of weight and I know that I'm "having my period" bc my boobs get super tender, I'm low-key irritable and I get mild migraines which used to happen before I was on birth control. I got mine for free at a local women's health clinic! Check them out they are often your best option especially if you are having sex and you want to be safe against pregnancy. Or if your parents don't want you on birth control go there man.
Yess agreed! Mine get super tender too lol but haven't noticed any weight gain. Glad it's working well for you too!
Can you workout heavy if you have implant birth control?
I had it 5 months. I had a lot of nausea and bleeding on and off. I also had no energy and ate like I was pregnant. Everyone is different but it’s a no for me!! I also had cystic acne on my face for 2 months. I removed today… ready to feel normal again
I also bleeded for 6 months but on the 7th month I stopped bleeding now it's fine I guess it was still getting used to your ststem
I was so optimistic about the implant but it unfortunately was a no for me as well.. I had it in for 6 months and bled for 5 months straight. I felt so miserable, terrible mood swings, felt really depressive, extremely tired and often had this weird pain in my arm… it just didn’t feel right. I got it removed today and instantly felt so much better, almost like I was freed from the implant ahaha, just like you I am ready to feel normal again :)
Very informative video. Got mine today.. I just wanted to ask for the sleeping position for the first night? Would it be laying on back or side? Should the arm(nexplanon site) be straight when sleeping? Can’t find any sites that would explain that well and want to know based from someone’s experience. Thank you🙂
The birth control that I just quit today has me itching all over, sneezing, constipated, bloated, and my sex drive is low. I am definitely looking for another alternative. I hope this works for me.
What was the birth control that you quit? Did you get the implant? Did the implant work well for you?
@@laurynvalenzuela9588 the one I quit was Junel 1/20. I started the Nexplanon implant in May 2021. The only thing I don’t like about it was that I bled non-stop and I had a low libido. Both have gotten better literally this month. I finally stopped bleeding about a week and a half ago. Hopefully, my body is adjusting now and I won’t bleed as much anymore. My co-worker had the same issue and she used another birth control to offset the bleeding. My best friend said she didn’t have any issues at all. I hope this helps.
I thought the implant would decrease the period days or even not get period anymore ? This is the only reason I was thinking to get the implant, to decrease the period days and decrease the pain because I suffer severely every month.
I’ve had mines in now going on 4 months now and I spotted and it’s only for like a day and a half real quick and cramps for that amount of time and it’s not heavy bleeding it doesn’t even make me hungry much I am losing weight and I like it... but if I lose to much weight I’ll talk to my dr but so far so good

Going through this right now. I have bled constantly almost 5 months now so I’m going to take it out. :( the doctors gave me birth control pills to stop the bleeding but it only helped for a few weeks. I’ve read that many girls experienced this and it lasts up to years ..so nah 😂

I have been bleeding for literally almost 2 years EVERY day ... I did get recommended another form of birth control which was the pill to stop it, it did stop for a good 3 months and started bleeding again on a daily basis. I’ve had such a horrible experience with it but I mean it is very affective and you don’t get pregnant
I got birth control pills from my doctor and it really helped me I was so uncomfortable bleeding alot every single day it was very annoying but the pills helped very well and it stopped the bleeding almost 3 weeks after but my periods are longer my period normally takes 7 seven complete days but now its longer like 10 to 13 days maybe but it stops and now after two years of having it ive only got my period once apart from the 6 months bleeding after a got it, but every body is different.
Got mine back in November of 2018. I've been experiencing irregular periods, I would go for 6 months without a period then Boom my period is back for a week and then it's gone a again for a couple of months.
The weight gain has been real!!!!! , I've gained 8kg's/17 lbs since I got it. I'm planning on taking it out soon because Im tired of the weight gain it ain't cute no more😕

Had mine for 3 years now and about to get it taken out tomorrow FINALLY . So overall the first year was a breeze but the last two years after were bad .. I Had depression the second year and this year I've been having bad mood swings and anxiety attacks everyday sisne January and its july . Dont recommend if yall even have the slightest experience with anxiety little above the average person the hormones are very strong . The only positive effect was that I didn't get pregnant. But everyone is different so please do yalls research! Overall I'm excited to get it out , and praying it'll help with everything emotionally bad I'm experiencing from it 🙏🤧

I got mine a year ago I love it no side effects it work really good for me
So I’ve had mine in 4 months now and (srry if tmi)I hve this blood clotting coming out but no actual blood flows. I had sex and my bf was fingering and when he took it out a whole bunch of blood and clotting came out. After sex I go to the bathroom and wipe to see a bunch clotting is on the tissue. Also I gained at least 15 pounds while being on it and I’m already overweight. I’m starting intermittent fasting but honestly I just hope these side effects go away cuz I’m literally not going thru 3 years of my body throwing a tantrum by making me bleed any time I hve sex😓😭a lot say I’m lucky but I’d rather have an actual period for 4-6 months than hve my period while having sex😭😭it’s so embarrassing, he even thought I lost my virginity or something 🤦🏾♀️
