Hey Leo I really like your set-up. I'm from BV too and last year I purchased a 2006 Tundra Double Cab to convert to a platform bed camper set-up. Mine came with a Leer cab level topper however, but I make it work. I have 240k on the truck currently... I bought it 4 years ago for $12k and it had 190 thousand miles...Toyotas are beat up and hard to find in Colorado, very overpriced right now
Hi Leo, I have the same truck and am looking to upgrade the suspension as I am chewing through CV axles with my current lift kit. Would you mind sharing the parts and tires you went with?
Hello Charlie, I currently run a toytec 3 inch coilover with 285/75/17s My friends have fox dual coilovers on their tundras and thats the rout I will go when I have the money... I haven't had any issues with my CVs yet but my friends have upgraded to high angle CV axles and I will go that rout when mine go out... Any other questions let me know :)
Charlie I also forgot to mention, you NEED aftermarket upper control arms when you do a lift on these trucks...when you lift on a stock UCA the alignment gets out of wack and really eats up your tires on an off camber... I recommend total chaos or Camburge UCAs because they have an aftermarket uniball design that allows for more flex and articulation...
@@leoaccaira413 Good call. I actually already have camburg UCAs, the previous owner did a hacky lift job that tore up the steering rack, so I've been slowly putting new parts in, I finally have the time and money to finish the job.

CARBON MONOXIDE detector. If you're using the camper at any time using the pass-through window to provide hot/cool air please install one they are cheap and will save your life. These trucks are not intended to be used this way and the tail pipe exhaust is vented in such a way that small amounts of carbon monoxide leaking into the truck is possible. Carbon Monoxide (CO) is dangerous and deadly even in VERY small concentrations. It can accumulate in your blood very very slowly, causing increased heart rate and breath rate as your body is starved for air. It attaches to the blood heme with a stronger bond than oxygen (O2), meaning vital organs cannot pull O2 from the blood. The lungs likely will not be able to pull the monoxide off the blood to expel it and will resort to discarding problematic heme through fecal waste to build new, this will happen extremely slowly. Get to the hospital if you suspect this has happened, they will provide supplemental oxygen and other treatments that will be key in saving your life.
Yeah, they are all great trucks. The main attraction to the overlanding crowd is the 6 inch deeper beds in those two years, we aren't dissing the other years. This feature allows for more storage space with a decked system on buildouts.
Squanch your absolutely right! The early 2000 AC tundras are just as amazing and reliable with the same 4.7, as Brian mentioned I was referring to these years for the deeper bed with the DC..they made DCs in 04 aswell but they didn't have the lower balljoint upgrade so I tend not to recommend the 04 DCs to people thats why I say 05-06 :)
I've come back to this video a bunch of times now this one is a classic.

Love the shade over the back. Brand? Where to source? Thanks
Got it! Slumberjack...thanks!
Sorry I'm slow 😅
You got it!
What fridge slide are you using?
I use DFG offroad fridge slide :) great quality 👌
Me again... the green Tundra in the background, what tent is that on the top? What rack and mounting did they go with? I have what looks like the same Topper/Cap. Mine is a Leer. The Leer dealer said I could get a Rail system for the top of mine but... the weight limit was what I thought to be low. Thanks again!
William there will be a whole rig walk through of his truck coming soon, stay tuned!
I'll be editing the video of Tyler's green Tundra today. I'll have it posted up this afternoon...great truck!
@@leoaccaira413 I'm looking forward to it! Thanks!
@@OffGridBackcountryAdventures Cool! Thanks!
Cool...
I love this truck, seems to be the perfect size giving me a little more room to operate.
@@OffGridBackcountryAdventures yeah I'm looking at the 05,06 models....found a few but haven't pulled the trigger yet....
@@OffGridBackcountryAdventures I've had 2 small pickups and 2 full size trucks. The extra room in a full sized truck is priceless. Vaughn
What gears was he running....
Wonder how many miles were on it and what he paid when he got it. The price on these has been skyrocketing lately it’s sad 😖
I have 240k on the truck currently...
I bought it 4 years ago for $12k and it had 190 thousand miles...Toyotas are beat up and hard to find in Colorado, very overpriced right now
Truck was completely bone stock with 30 inch tires when I got it
Hi Leo, I have the same truck and am looking to upgrade the suspension as I am chewing through CV axles with my current lift kit. Would you mind sharing the parts and tires you went with?
Hello Charlie, I currently run a toytec 3 inch coilover with 285/75/17s
My friends have fox dual coilovers on their tundras and thats the rout I will go when I have the money...
I haven't had any issues with my CVs yet but my friends have upgraded to high angle CV axles and I will go that rout when mine go out...
Any other questions let me know :)
Thanks@@leoaccaira413 !
What frig slider ? For the snow master?
Fridge slide is from DFG offroad...I realized after doing the video I didn't give them the propper shout out I should have
What shirt is he wearing???? The blue one omg i need it!!!
Thats a music festival special 🤣😂 got it at a vendor booth at a hippy festival in Alma Colorado
@@leoaccaira413 jealous AF
Cool shirt! Who is it be made by?
Got it at a vendor at a hippy festival..
#myfavoriteshirtfortheinterview 😂🤣😅
How's the frame holding up on that Tundra? 🤔
With 230,000 miles and 7000 pounds fully loaded its solid...took me almost a year and looking at like 6 tundras that were "rust free" before finding this one next state over...lol
@@leoaccaira413 Yeah I would like to try a Tundra or Tacoma but I don't know if I can trust the frames since I live in a state where there is salt all over the roads in the winter. Even though the frame might look good now, I don't know what it will look like 5-6 years down the road. 🤷
@@jimh.412 no that is true, I live in Colorado where the air is perfect for them....if you live where there's salt these frames ruat out fast because of the thinner metal Toyota used..
@@leoaccaira413 Yep thanks for the info. I guess I'll stick with Ford. 👍
What year is this truck?
This is a 2005 Double cab Tundra
Does Leo or his truck have an instagram?
I unfortunately am to lazy to do the whole social media thing...but I do have a Facebook if you had anymore questions about my build feel free t o message me :)
"Leo John Accaira)
What is this mans insta. I still have questions
My instagram is inactive, I have a Facebook if you feel like asking there :)

I just can't understand any of this, honestly. I feel like he could have saved a lot of money by starting with a Sequoia instead of a Tundra.
Sequoia isn’t the right vehicle for my plans… I have a whole new set up coming for a video this fall so stay tuned for the new set up to accommodate family style living :)
If you're ever down AZ way hit me up and we can go do some first gen V8 overlanding. Check out my profile I have videos of my extreme 1st Gen Sequoia total chaos long travel build.
Dig the truck just not the whole stickers all over looks like my elementary notebook
Different strokes for different folks is what I always say, it does look tacky at times but no doubt no mistaking my truck in a crowd of Toyotas...plus I hear each sticker adds +5hp....by my calculations I'm pulling way more HP than what the TRD supercharger would offer lol
Gas mileage sucks, only reason i wont get this truck..
I definitely bought it for the smiles per mile factor and not MPG 🤣😅
Plus its so reliable, only time it ever goes into the shop is because I broke some suspension component 😅
The motors bulletproof

Thank you for pointing that out! I have in fact added a monoxide detector in the truck shortly after this video was shot!
Good call being safe!
@@leoaccaira413 So happy to hear.
00-04 are just as good as your 05-06's
