I recently bought a 2021 Tundra TRD Pro. Your videos help familiarize me with the truck. Thank you.
The Toyota V8's will be highly sought after like the 90's Land Cruiser
I think the 4.7 V8 is THE Toyota truck engine. The 5.7 is a little overrated, still good though
@stevieray1828 you are wrong is the other way around
@@freddymartinez5613 which one was the million mile engine? 4.7
@@stevieray1828both actually - 5.7’s made a million miles too
I just bought a super clean 2020 5.7 😂 40k miles …. Let’s goooo
What did you give on it? What trim level?
@@hankwilliams4509 sr5 voodoo blue for 38k
Score!!!
I have a 2019 Tundra crewmax i bought 3yrs ago. I’m keeping this truck forever!
@@CarolinaStreetKings for real
I just bought a 2011 Tundra SRV TRD package with the 4.6 it has 284.000 MLS. The body and interior are in phenomenal shape and the 1st owner kept impeccable maintenance on it. I trust Toyota so much I passed up Dodge's and Fords with half the mileage. The 4.6 has that timing chain and pretty good gas mileage while still delivering 310 hp and a tow capacity of 10,400 lbs. I fully expect this to be my last vehicle at 61 yrs old. I love the truck so much I'll drop another engine in it before I buy another truck.
I still have my 2015 Tundra. It's NOT going anywhere, I love it.
I’m keeping mine forever
I purchased a 2020 in the summer of 2019. I absolutely love it. Built it out for overlanding but nothing crazy. Very basic and very fun. I think I have about 20K miles on it so far!
Great video, thank you!
One of the best most honest no BS review Ive ever seen on any vehicle. Thank you! Great job!
Best all around truck you can buy
Got a 2007 5.7 tundra absolutely love it..
I’ve been saying this. The Tundra does not need lockers.
Not sure if worthy of it's own video, but my unconventional offroader is my 2500 chevy avalanche. 8.1L powered with a full float 14 bolt. The back wall folds down in the avalanche so you can camp inside your cab below your tonneau covers. It’s perfect for me!
My dad had one w the 8.1 beast. Cool truck
I have a 2008 tundra limited. I bought it at 100k miles. I have 155k on it now and I have spent $35.00 in necessary repairs. That is not including of course maintenance costs like oil, filters, tires. I am a big fan of Jeep Gladiators, so if you want to do a video on them, that would be awesome! This was a great video!
just made me love my 2017 Pro even more. great vid.
My 2021 tundra has slightly appreciated some crazy way. From when i bought it a year ago
I have a 2013 CrewMax 4WD Tundra and my only complaint is not about the truck itself but the ability to purchase aftermarket parts. Many manufacturers begin their inventory at 2014. Something to consider if you are in the market for a Gen 2. Thank you Nate for another awesome vid!
This is a good point... out of curiosity what were you shopping for recently that they didn't have before 2014?
@OutdoorAuto I have a 2013 as well, we are limited on after market grills, front/push bars, interior to name a few.
Im about to buy a 2013 how bad is this problem?
@@OutdoorAutofront and rear bumpers
@@revpix2284it depends on what your after. Off-road manufactures like CBI and RCI do have bed racks and sliders but not 2013 fitment for front and rear bumpers. So there are manufacturers that make aftermarket bumpers but be wary of the quality if say you were expecting reliable recovery point quality. Many of the aftermarket bumpers are made of very thin metal. But if aesthetics are what’s important I’m sure there are many options out there.
Thanks for the awesome video. I just purchased a 2021 Toyota tundra with only 8000 miles and your video was quite inspiring. And your tundra build looks incredible. You have a great UA-cam channel Please keep up the good work.
I have a 21 trd pro. I put some 285/70/18 falken wildpeak at4 with spare underneath. Everything fits and no rubbing. I like the bbs wheels and no need for me to lift it. I’m building for minor off-road to camping /overland / fishing. I love the truck and don’t want to beat it to death. Just want reversible add ons that work incase I want to change .
I just scooped a 2019 Tundra TRD Pro. Im loving it already
Great video! I’ve done sliders and tires on my 2019. Now I’m itching to do suspension and front bumper!
Another great video! Bought my 18 Tundra last year after being more of a 4Runner guy and wish I had bought a Tundra 15 years ago. I went straight to 37s too because anything this big should have 37s! They're small BFG 37s though. 2.5" lift and they clear everything but sway bar when turning very hard left or right. But rubbing is racing
37s not rubbing? No cutting?
@JsaephanhMienMusic with the +35 Methods they rub the sway bar at full lock. I should ditch the sway bar but haven't gotten around to it. I hit the body mounts with the grinder also but a couple of trips and the only rubbing I had with the rear wheel well liners. The tires just touch when fully stuffed.
Awesome video. It was nice seeing how it performed with the narration with it! Great job
Love My 2010 tundra 5.7 liter supercharged platinum sitting in my garage with under 140k....
On my 2023 Tacoma TRD OR ACLB I’m planning to put on sliders, and 0mm offset wheels to mount 255/85R16 C range (if I can find C) tires. The lift will come later unless I get the high clearance fender kit and cut up and relocate everything to keep stick suspension
Love this series idea. More please!!
Awesome video. I love my '21 even though I won't ever take it crawling. I bought it for towing a RV and modified it as such. Trans cooler, Cat Shield, air bags, TRD rear swaybar, scangauge2 for trans temp, and eventually Borla dual exhaust.
Do a DAP TUNE
Great Video - thanks for all the hard work. I have a 2017 Tacoma and wanted to go for a Tundra but like the rest of us not sure about the latest version. If I can find a decent used one, the 2nd Gen is probably the best bet for now. Keep them coming and thanks again!
Really Awesome video and I don't even own a Toyota, I didn't buy a 2nd Gen Tundra because I needed a truck to haul my FWC Grandby. So I bought a 2nd Gen gas powered Dodge 2500 & I really really like my Dodge other than the 6 mpg going through the mountains. Thank you for creating Super Duper Awesome videos, you really do an amazing job of making videos.
Great video! As a Toyota guy, I love this gen Tundra although I no longer own one (had three!). I would watch similar videos discussing other makes because I love trucks and learning the ins and outs of different platforms. Thanks for the content, subscribed!
2021 tundra sr. Named it Black Ostrich cause it's black and 2wd. Commuter and occasional trails.
I love my 2021 TRD prd overland build. Thank you for this video
15:24 the Crew Max is the room model and the one with complete roll down back window
Love the content. The score I give for this format is a five.... send it❤!!!
You should do the 14-18 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 15-19 Chevy Silverado 2500hd/3500hd
More, please. Thanks for the hard work and always informative formatting.
More please... have always loved your channel. Always informative...
Very good video. Learned some things! My only hell no is the BP51 suspension.
Love this series! I know a lot of the form factor will be the same as a Tundra, but I would like to see you do the F150 (not Raptor). I have a 2019 with coyote V8. Super duty review would be cool too.
Thanks for the great video Nate. I have the 2016 tundra platinum. It’s my overland rig n it’s takes me anywhere I go off grid. 🙏🏽
Love those trucks...
I'm in my "regular cab, short bed" phase of life, and I wish there were more used 2nd Gen Tundra's in that spec. If I am daydreaming, then might as well wish for a TRD blower too.
Bought a 2016 Tundra Limited with 12600 Km, just about mint condition, at half the price of a new Limited. The V8 is great, so much power. I know their traction control is fantastic, my dad has a 2015, doesn't even need a locker. The quality of these trucks is amazing, Toyota knows what they are doing and stand behind their products. You will never find this type of reliability in the American brands. And real leather upholstery, not the simulated leather that smells like plastic that you get with the current models. This truck is luxury, time to be pampered!
I know you're doing extreme stuff... but I would love a baby version of a camper and suspension upgrade for weight !
Great video man! I look forward to watching more of these videos! I had no idea how many engine options the tundra had.
Great video. Good idea for a series. Would love to see more.
Thanks! Very informative. 👍🏼
Love it! Great job. Couldn't agree more. One day could you cover the differences between 2 and 2.5 gen tundras? Me second gen is getting tired but I'm not sure I want to go to the 2.5 gen.
The Grand Highlander!
Yes! Please make more. Great video. Love the 2nd Gen Tundra platform.
Really enjoyed those! Well done!
You briefly spoke about the traction control of the Tundra, and I'm wondering if you could go into more detail about it. Which traction mode should I be in? How do I activate it? When should I change it?
CONS?.....what cons....done right this truck is indestructible.....never mind the legendary reliability and room galore.....what else can you ask for?
Do one on the 2019-2023 Ford Ranger please!
Great content. A lot of useful information as always. Thanks for the videos you make. Awesome work!
I just sold my 2014 SR5 and picked up a 2021 TRD Pro. They are the last great truck. No displacement-on-demand. No active fuel management. Minimal foo-foo electronics.
Hi Nate! I think you missed a talking point unless I missed it. To my recollection one of the main reasons the Tundra got "trail cred" as an offroading full size is that it has 4,000 lb axles.
I don't own a Tundra so by all means let me know if I'm mistaken.
Great stuff as usual Nathan and thanks for the reminder on the ABS guards, I forgot about those! If you ever want to explore some of those backcountry gems we talked about or do the 4.6L vs. 5.7L 2nd gen Tundra comparison (or start that new series, where the road ends and the single-track begins) you know how to reach me. Cheers!
Platform for reviews: 2nd Generation Colorado Z71. Not the ZR2, as there have been many builds with that platform. I have 2015 Colorado Z71 Crew Cab Long Bed and have wondered this.
I knew the first day I bought my 2014 Tundra I was never getting rid of it.
I like this new series!
I’m curious on your take on the new 2023 Nissan frontier
Definitely get a Toyota Sequoia on here! 2nd Gen
and this is why i bought a 17 tundra crewmax
More of these videos, SEND IT!
I really like this series and appreciate the work it took. While I wait for you to do the 5th Gen 4Runner (hopefully before I buy one in the next month or two 😅), I eagerly wait for whatever you film and will definitely be watching. All these rigs are so cool!
Love our 2nd gen Fundra
I like your scoring system
Thanks for the review and insights on the Tundra.
Thanks for making this video!
Would love to learn what a current gen rav4 can do. I also have a 2021 Tundra.
The "upgrades" rabbit hole needs to come with a disclaimer of it's completely dependent on what you'll be doing and whether or not you want to (and have the ability to) get the truck up on a lift to tune suspension and tinker with it. Even "easy" click adjusters can be a hassle for most people. Most upgrades aren't necessary anyhow as the vast majority of people won't ever be doing what you're showing in the video, so that money can be better put to use elsewhere. Also, people should keep in mind that tires are getting SUPER expensive (a new set of 35x12.5x18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers x 5 is around $2200!) so be sure you really, REALLY need something that big when a 32-33" will be more than just fine in the vast majority of cases, cost less, and will cause fewer fitting issues.
Good info. Nate. Thanks again. I was wondering if they are still fixing the rusted frame recalls on 2009 models?
I think all the frame recalls have timed out at this point... but I am not positive.
Thanks for the great video! I have an 08 but am thinking about going a tad newer with a 2016 Pro but glad to see this video either way!
I’d like to see one of these on a 12th gen (09-14) F-150
Do the 1st gen Titan!
Excellent video! Thank u very much!
You know you've gotta do the 11th-14th gen F150s. 12th and 13th are probably the most common right now, especially with the inflated prices of the 14th gen.
Would love your thoughts on my beloved '90s suburban! Or the new kids on the block (Gladiator, Branco)
would love to see a gx460 will it adventure.
Cool premise! I'd like to see one on the GX/Prado platform!
Thank you.
Any videos on fitting a 35 tire under for spare.
They fit fine… you have to drill out these small tabs that hold smaller tires in place
Great video Nate, lots of good data in there and I like the score at the end looking forward to more of them in future videos
I am excited to maybe get a guest on here and do the XJ... do you know a guy?
Awesome video! Who made your rock sliders? I’ve got some from
C4 and like them.
Those are CBI… I like C4 stuff too, I run their bumpers.
great video!
Great video man! I had no idea how many engine options the 2nd gen actually had.
GX 460 and the ZR2 Silverado
What about them?
Hey there ! Can you make a LC100 similar video... Just bought a Rust Free 1998 JDM... and, of course, plan to use it as a future off-road adventure platform ! Thanks !
Congrats, that sounds like a great vehicle
Id love to see some other vehicles that people may not immediately assume for adventures. Like GMC Sierra, or Hummers, or Subaru Outback. Create a grading system and allow us viewers to compare the different scores.
We will definitely seek out some none "standard" options.... Subarus are a great example.... pretty solid for camping and overland... Amazing in the snow.
@@OutdoorAuto Some more soft roader would be good like 2nd Gen Ridgeline
Love it. More of these please
Congratulations, very informative video
Link for ABS sensor guards please! Great idea I didn’t think of this.

Cover the INEOS Grenadier!
Great review, and quite helpful. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful
Very informative 👍🏿👌🏿🫶🏿
I have a 2020 Pro with a Harrop supercharger. I would pay boatloads for a reliable 10 speed to match that horsepower for interstate mountainous towing. The 6 speed is meh….
I have the 2.5 Gen Tundra. 2021...last of the good Tundras. Would love to see the 1st Gen Toyota Sequoia
Similar, but the Gen 2 sequoia!
You look like you could be Connor mcgregors cousin
This was awesome!
I wish they would’ve made the 2nd gen crewmax come standard with a 6.5ft bed.
Can you do a video on the 2nd Gen Nissan Titan? I have my YOTA but my Overlanding brother loves his Nissans. Its hard to find good content on this platform.
