Boo hoo, I didn't get to see beautiful little Maggie's face. She is such a cutie! Love to hear your thoughts on the bookd you are reading, my friend. Love you elle...MEKWH
I’m reading the Capote women. Fascinating, how money and power , fame and glamour, do not guarantee happiness. Love your book reviews. Where do you find the time? .. hugs❤
Great suggestions! I just downloaded “A Beautiful Rival.” I’m so impressed with your energy to read so many books! Thanks for the lovely Maggie cameo 🥰
Greetings Elle! I like to read rather light books, or books centered around the relationships between family members or between friends. Sounds boring I guess, but not to me! Love and blessings ♥️🙏
The best book I read in April was "The Women" by Kristin Hannah. It was a five star read for me, and I'm pretty stingy with my 5 star ratings! I'm old enough to have lived through the Vietnam war years (as a young teen) and so I usually steer away from anything Vietnam.... but I like Kristin Hannah, so I decided to give it a try and quit if I didn't like it. The main character is a young woman, a newly graduated nurse, who goes to the front lines in Nam. As a nurse myself, I hate when medical scenes seem fake and honestly these did NOT. Things were tough and gritty over there and Kristin Hannah didn't sugarcoat any of it. My next door neighbor is a VietNam era veteran and I asked her (after she read the book) if the military scenes seemed realistic... like I said, I hate it when things are portrayed inaccurately. She assured me that they were realistic, especially the recreation that soldiers were able to take. So I dove in head first and yes, it was a sad and difficult topic, but presented in a realistic way - the way vets were treated upon return to the USA was sad but accurate. The PTSD that they suffered from (it didn't have a name back then) was real. This was well researched - a tough read but a fantastic read at the same time!
I so look forward to your reviews! I just finished Amor Towles’ Rules for Civility on audio. I really enjoyed it. It was a treat to listen to such great writing. Be well.
Hi Elle, you are such an avid reader, I don’t know how you do it. I just can’t stay focused long enough to get through a book really learning something, I love listening to you talk about the books you read. Maggie is so adorable and I love seeing her and your videos. You just light up when you mention her name! Love you dearly, Sheila.
I have trouble with focus when I have trauma in my life but, otherwise I find reading so relaxing. Maggie is truly the sweetest baby and we both love her SO much! Love to you my friend. ♥
Hi Elle, thanks for sharing more great books. I tend to gravitate towards non-fiction so I'll check out the Beautiful Rival. At the moment I'm enjoying I Dared to Call Him Father by Bilquis Sheikh - it's about a Muslim woman's conversion to Christianity and all the problems associated with it. I'm half way through (on my kindle) and enjoying it. Hope you have a great day! xx
Elle- some great reviews. I 100% agree with you about The Vaster Wilds…writing was good but it needed an edit. I ended up switching to audio to get through. I also LOVED The Frozen River. The characters were so good and I loved the husband, he was so supportive of his wife. My favorites in April were Finding Me by Viola Davis, James by Percival Everett and Kill For Me Kill For You by Steve Cavanaugh. I am #2 on the library list for Dear Child and I am trying to find a library copy of Beautiful Rival. Thanks and have a great weekend. Jeana
I will have to make sure that I didn't miss adding your favorites from your Instagram account - thank you for relisting them as life is CRAZY! Love and plenty of reading time to you my friend. ♥
