Ferrari is the super model you see in magazines, she's sexy, she's elegant, but she's high strung, and high maintenance. Porsche is the sexy girl next door, she's not quite a super model, but she gives you that sweet loving whenever you want it! I'll take the girl next door!
@LMF5000 thank you, I just wanted to say they should say those units. I know what they are, and so should other people. By the way, it's g/cm³ not g/km, grams per centimeter cubed. And bhp actually means "Brake horse power", which is the actual amount of power the engine outputs (you don't include the power lost from friction in the gearbox, differentials etc.)
@obaidCarkey turbo is the name of 911 variant, the 911 turbo. You can't refer to the GT2 by saying the 911 turbo or even by saying just turbo, everybody would think you meant the 911 turbo. I've been in the porsche scene for over 10 years and have owned the 993 turbo and 996 GT2 (not rs), so I think somebody would have said to me that i'm wrong when i refer to the 993 turbo as "the turbo"
I have an 06 Cayman S with a 3.8. It's about 80-90hp over the stock 3.4 that was originally in the car. and it is a blast to drive. I prefer it over a 911 due to the price. Plus the engine is in the middle. But I do think the new 911 Turbo S is awesome. Not 180k awesome though.
@animeonperseest turbo is just short for turbocharger! you can make a 997 as expensive as you want by choosing red or yellow brakes, pdk or not, more powerful engine etc etc.
@IMB2U One other observation: top gear is meant for entertainment, not serious reviews. Personally when I watch the videos I fast forward through the car reviews at times - I watch Top Gear for the fun stuff (like people carrier racing, Aygo football, bus racing, the challenges etc.). If you're looking for serious reviews, then you should watch Fifth Gear (in fact the presenters from Fifth Gear actually started out as Top Gear presenters in the very early seasons IIRC).
I win the lottery, I'm buying a Porsche before a Ferrari or Lambo. Probably a Panamera first because I'm old and want to just cruise around the country in comfort and style with the great sound system, throw my bags and junk in the back seat and cruise. Then I'll buy a 911 coupe of some hot configuration. Anybody out there want my old clapped out Maxima SE? I'll give it to ya.
@IMB2U i think the reason they say "300 carbon dioxides" is to keep things very very simple. once you get into more technical terms it puts people to sleep. some people may even be embarrassed that they do not know what it means and turn the chanel. hence why they dont let James May explain a lot of the real "science" behind a lot of the cars they showcase. a big part of TopGear's success is their ability to make things like this more interesting and obviously bring some humour into it.
Thanks for the video.. I've been a Porsche Lover, cause I've worked with Porsche.. Still can't afford them.. The Turbos and the GTs are awesome.. The Bugati is really nice too..
if you search among rallymedia videos. then you find someone is using a lambirghini gallardo for rallying. so its not impossible to use a supercar for rally. still the gt3 rs is used as a group N car
The Star of China clarkson was taking the piss,he loved the 430before the 458 came out,but because James may bought a 430 clarkson had to laugh at him for buying it because the 458 is better but cclarkson does like the 430
The Star of China Porsche fan here, Clarkson says so either because he's trying to be an asshole or because he's plane stupid hence why he got kicked outta Top Gear and you say so just to repeat after him because you have no opinion of your own If I had to choose between a 458 and a 430 I would probably go for an F430
Considering buying a 997 Turbo. Could somebody chime in on the reliability on these cars past 100,000 miles? Iv had BMW E60 M5 and E39 M5, Both have been horrible on reliability. Have a Toyota 4Runner with 250,000 Miles still works like a swiss watch. So what am i getting into?
Mine now has 180.000km on the dial. Works like a charm! Only problems I had were loose endpipes (just screwed them on again), broken O2 sensor and the well known weakness of rusty shock absorbers. Other than that only the usual little things happened. Very realiable car! Just look into the driver profile of the last owner. If they get thrashed around a lot they tend to have more problems.
I'll never understand why Jezza hates Porsche so much. A 911 is simply the finest automobile ever designed. And still is. In every way. Granted I say that as a 911 owner.
Trent Hamilton A lot of it is probably his TV persona, they all joke about the cars they "hate" But in reality though it may not be his favorite, I highly doubt you can hate amazingly cars like this! Though you could have a car you prefer.
@syaharief06 Wrong, the best sports cars are Nobles. The Noble M15 and M600 are some of the most refined cars ever made. Awesome on the track and on the drive home.
+MrJc9600 - Meh, they're more reliable, more practical and much less flashy. In general, I don't think they attract as much unwanted attention as a Ferrari. But you're right in some sense, I would be uneasy leaving it parked when visiting a restaurant, or a mall.
+OMGWTFLOL I'm not too sure to be honest. I tend to think that at least where I live, people will give more respect to a Ferrari. Almost every body loves and admires a Ferrari, while there are still a lot of idiots out there who think of Porsche's as "an overpriced VW beetle" - and for that reason a lot of people don't respect Porsche drivers I think the way they would respect a Ferrari driver. But either way, I think ANYBODY who owns a prestige brand of car (even if it is just an Audi / Mercedes / Jaguar / BMW) is going to draw the attention of deuchebags. I definately don't think Porsche owners would be spared from that.
***** I assume you live in Europe or in the US? If so you are very lucky. Here in Oz you would be looking at a minimum $50k or so for an average, high km 2008 911. Sadly we get killed on import tax and luxury car tax here, so we pay stupid prices for euro cars. For example, you'll struggle to find a decent Gen 5 Golf GTi here for $10,000. They are around $45,000 new., with a Golf R being closer to $60k.
@edu206 i was taking the 997.2 S into consideration. there is no way i would trade .3 of a second for a VW 911. take the two cars around a track and you will see the 458 on top most of the time with the added benefit of its looks etc. the lighter and more powerful version of the current 458 is on its way - bummer for all vw fans.
I like these petrolhead discussions despite they are often between people who never drove the cars. Actually I drove the new TT in Germany recently and I was seriously surprised, it is a proper driver's car, not a hardcore one but one. A lot of people would disagree despite they haven't driven one. Makes it a bit pointless.
Its odd that I like Jeremy considering he hates my two favorite brands of autos: BMW and Porsche...and with no real reason. When asked about such he says BMW's are for people who do blah blah blah or Porsches are owned by people that blah blah blah. Never giving a concrete reason why he loathes them.
Wesley Delneste He used to love Audi's. Now he loves BMW and Mercedes. He respects Porsche more than ever but still mocks the 911 for the styling reminiscent of a Beetle.
@Riles07 The Porsche logo is older than the Ferrari logo but Ferrari started selling cars a year earlier than Porsche. II might actually be that both logos originate from the same source. Porsche took the prancing horse from the emblem of the city of Stuttgart while Ferrari took it from an italian WW1 fighter ace. The fighter ace most likely used the prancing horse because of his old cavalry regiment but he might have copied it of a german fighter pilot who in turn copied it from Stuttgart.

Ferrari is the super model you see in magazines, she's sexy, she's elegant, but she's high strung, and high maintenance. Porsche is the sexy girl next door, she's not quite a super model, but she gives you that sweet loving whenever you want it! I'll take the girl next door!
Great analogy. I’d still pick the Ferrari tho lol
@@Saiyajin947 I'll take the girl next door. Give me the Porsche.
Just got out of one when a person i know gave me a lift. Got out of it and onto a bus, life can be shit somedays
ive heard there is a RGT class in rallying. it was called NGT in the 80s
Drivers car , porsche all the way 4 me
Nissan GTR kills it.
Jonny Walker nah
@obaidCarkey turbo is the name of 911 variant, the 911 turbo. You can't refer to the GT2 by saying the 911 turbo or even by saying just turbo, everybody would think you meant the 911 turbo. I've been in the porsche scene for over 10 years and have owned the 993 turbo and 996 GT2 (not rs), so I think somebody would have said to me that i'm wrong when i refer to the 993 turbo as "the turbo"
He has to Test the 2014 Turbo S with 560hp, 0-60 in 2,9 sec !
Its one of the best car on the market
Is that Alabama 3 "Woke Up This Morning" at 1:28?!
Bought a Yellow 2007 Cayman S 3 months ago. Looking at 2007-2009 911 Turbos now. :D I am hooked !
+James Mark II After 2 x 911's I am back in a Cayman S - Best drivers car period.
+MagicAyrtonforever Excellent !
Until you drive a Cayman R
Slowpoke Driven one, uncomfortable bucket seats, no aircon and no cd player.. Nice!
@animeonperseest
turbo is just short for turbocharger!
you can make a 997 as expensive as you want by choosing red or yellow brakes, pdk or not, more powerful engine etc etc.
Remember, a Ferrari with a dead battery is still a Ferrari
+CountessGardevoir Yeah, but it's only a Ferrari.
+CountessGardevoir like a small ferrari toy which you can just see but cant drive. :)
A hat and key ring maker
Yep. As much use as a door stop
@@stankfanger1366 And the Porsche is just a glorified Beetle with colorless sounds.
You can't look good in a Panamera. It's hideous.
+The Star of China Panamera is Boss. China is suck.
+betterbeavailable such english, very wow
garyhope2 have you won the lottery yet?
Ill take it!
Tasty piece of kit.
''This is not driving, this is pure madness''
THIS IS PORSCHEEE!!! rofl
@shahulhusman depends on wich car you get, both the Turbo and the Turbo S is faster than the GTR, aswell as the GT2 and GT2 RS
ice cream made out of squash opponent... haha clarkson
why is all the music different from the original tv version?
1:28 The Sopranos?
@IMB2U i think the reason they say "300 carbon dioxides" is to keep things very very simple. once you get into more technical terms it puts people to sleep. some people may even be embarrassed that they do not know what it means and turn the chanel. hence why they dont let James May explain a lot of the real "science" behind a lot of the cars they showcase. a big part of TopGear's success is their ability to make things like this more interesting and obviously bring some humour into it.
I miss Topgear 😢
Thanks for the video.. I've been a Porsche Lover, cause I've worked with Porsche.. Still can't afford them.. The Turbos and the GTs are awesome.. The Bugati is really nice too..
Porsche FTW
if you search among rallymedia videos. then you find someone is using a lambirghini gallardo for rallying. so its not impossible to use a supercar for rally. still the gt3 rs is used as a group N car
0:53 priceless
Why have top gear posted 2 copies of the same clip?
The 911 has aged well, the top gear boys have not.
dazzaburger true dat
dazzaburger Eh everyone gets older what can you do
FULL SCREEN!!! YEY! I have an Uncle with a blue 73' 911 SC targa, its beautifuly intoxicating.
I love the Porsche.
40.000 and you get a 997 4S
only time I've heard Jeremy not say something bad for a Porsche! he's in rare form....
The F430 is hideous. Clarkson actually says so in the review of the 458.
+The Star of China even the challenge stradale?
The Star of China clarkson was taking the piss,he loved the 430before the 458 came out,but because James may bought a 430 clarkson had to laugh at him for buying it because the 458 is better but cclarkson does like the 430
The Star of China Porsche fan here, Clarkson says so either because he's trying to be an asshole or because he's plane stupid hence why he got kicked outta Top Gear and you say so just to repeat after him because you have no opinion of your own
If I had to choose between a 458 and a 430 I would probably go for an F430
Very good episode. Well Done Boys!!!!
If they get thrashed around a lot they tend to have more problems.
superb explanation my friend, superb. :)
I own a vintage 1983 Porsche 911 SC, simply amazing
+Trent Hamilton Agreed. Especially if you want to actually drive the car.
Because they make a mid-engine car which is a superior platform intentionally sit under their rear-engine relic?
Best reaction ever! 😂 5:52
i have some really weird hairs growing around my nipple, i call them jeremy clarkson
+Bo Huggabee You're a strange, strange man.
@syaharief06 Wrong, the best sports cars are Nobles. The Noble M15 and M600 are some of the most refined cars ever made. Awesome on the track and on the drive home.
It dawns on me Jeremy has no idea how pollutants in gas form work.
Song at 3:10
Ill take the 911 Turbo. You can have 5 Ferraris.
Chuck Steak yup
How did it to around the track compared to the Ferrari?
So those track numbers are from which "reputable" source?
A 911 is a $100,000+ car. I would still be worried about all of the things that Jeremy was worried about in his Ferrari.
The 430 is a supercar & the 911 is sports car
So supercars are slower than sports cars?
Lol yes in this case
Lol in this case yes
Drive a GT3 and tell me its not a supercar.
I like these petrolhead discussions despite they are often between people who never drove the cars. Actually I drove the new TT in Germany recently and I was seriously surprised, it is a proper driver's car, not a hardcore one but one. A lot of people would disagree despite they haven't driven one. Makes it a bit pointless.
this show is so fast cut and filmed at so many angles! i wonder how many times they have to stop just to move the cameras xD
Because british people hates germany
He loves audi though
Wesley Delneste He used to love Audi's. Now he loves BMW and Mercedes. He respects Porsche more than ever but still mocks the 911 for the styling reminiscent of a Beetle.
Márcio Azevedo Not true:-)
Márcio Azevedo They don't hate Germans, i think they just have a lot of pride in British engineering.
Does anyone know the name of the song that's playing when the security camera is filming the Porsche?
Surprised that Jeremy is still a 911 hater
Maqsud Rezwan because he's stupid
I believe that's just a persona he puts on during filming. People say he's a hugely different person off-camera.
