@@CloudyShinobi:...oh look, another keyboard hero, have a few beers before you wrote that did you!? Because with the kind of limp-wristed bravado AND accuracy about me and the reason for my ire you achieved (which, by the way, was entirely down to the ignorant, purile stupidity of the original comment I criticised) I'm guessing you drank the keg dry, your response was irrelevant, where this took place also is, plus you didn't even have the intelligence to address the actual point my response concerned itself with. If you live in the UK, and don't like it, FUCK OFF ELSEWHERE! I suggest north Korea. You might like it there, you certainly aren't deserving of any better.
Michael Rawson ...and apparently my point remains as true as ever: u seem way too bothered about something else to be everting this much energy and hostility in fucking UA-cam comments sections !!! Lmfao 🤦♂️🤷♂️🤣
I have slowly over the years (and I mean slowly) come to appreciate Porsche. Something about the brand, can’t put my finger on it, put me off ... but there is no denying they make some ludicrously good cars.
porsche board of directors screwed ferdinand like apple screwed steve jobs.. twice... 911, 959 and classic models are only acceptable models to porsche philes..
I agree, you don't hear the horror stories that come with BMW, Audi, Volkswagen and Mercs. Somehow, despite their competitors suffering, they got it right.
@@FirstLast-nt5ui 356 also qualifies
Age is creeping up on you;)
@@FirstLast-nt5ui Hardly lol you don't speak for every Porsche fan, dude. Same old "the new material isn't the exact same thing as the first so it sucks" argument I see on music videos as well. Boring.
Can we just appreciate that this was uploaded in 2008 before UA-cam had any real meaningful impact. The trio were pioneers in every way
Today is January 1, 2020 and UA-cam suggested me this video.
Today is August 23, 2020 and UA-cam suggested me this video.
I'm from the FUTURE ....You have a harsh year aheaD!!
Buckle up Dave 2020 has waaaaay more in store😂😂
January 3rd 2021....

"lets engage the stability management program", *presses a button that actually dials is back*
I love how Jeremy acted like he didn't already like the 911 in the beginning of this video.
Top Gear is top-notch acting.
"the gas coming out of the exhaust pipes" is now ingrained in my brain for some reason. Can you work out why?
Don’t stick your head next to the exhaust!
Just heard him say this
The reason I fall in love with the 997 and the reason I still own one today.
Damn lucky you are. I'll get one someday. Definitely.
Awesome
3:09 Beautiful cinematography 👌
that background music too
@@woodenaiden2054 yeah does anyone know the track?
2008 - 480 hp
2020 - 650 hp (Turbo S)
How time flies! =O
A rwd, 2020 Carrera S with PDK is as fast in the quarter mile (11.3 seconds) as the Turbo in this video. It's insane how far performance has come in a decade and a lot of it has to do with tire, transmission and launch control technology.
Astonishing, Very nice review, Top Gear, keep up the good work!
As an Italian, between the two, Porsche all my life
AND PRODIGY SOUNDTRACK !!!!!!!! YOU GOTTA LOVE THAT SHOW !!!!!
Surely a classic in waiting, if not already. Timeless design. This and the 993 Turbo the nicest imo.
All these years. This is a classic. 👌🏼
"You would have very thin children and you do, because it's a Porsche 911 so you have a thin wife"
"This is not driving this is pure maths"...
the editing and cinematography is great in this era of top gear!
Great setting in the bailgate area of Lincoln plus the starting point in the multi storey carpark by the Brayford Pool
Man.. the editing of this 11 year old video is on another world..
The Prodigy music....hit Jeremy too foot down get smile
‼️‼️
It is definately a very practical car, I have a 911 and I would have to say it is one of the most practical and reliable cars I've ever had.
There's a lovely view at 2:14
"because you'd have a thin wife" 😂😂😂👌
I felt it too...🤣🤣🤣
I don´t get it
Nice profile picture
I used to pathologically hate the 911 back then but it sorta grew on me and now I love it just as much as I adore Astons.
Top gear so diplomatic realistic and timeless
Right up until some of the later seasons.. Wich was absolute rubbish.. I'm glad to see it return to form now and be about cars again!
People say you never forget your first love. I’ll never forget the first time I saw the 911 turbo , always a nostalgic moment for me
Same here, although the one I fell in love with was the 993, the last of the old-school 911s.
Porsche 911 for life!!!!
My grandpa on ,y moms side and owns a silver Porche 911 carrera s convertible all packages exept roll cage from 2016. My grandma on my dads side owns a red Porche 911 Carrara s some packages and it is from 2014. I like my grandpas better
Benjamin Kaufman It can’t, because it can’t have the ICW carbon fiber package with the ICW Brushed Aluminum with the Brushed ICW Wood package. Does it have Premium plus package?
Ha! gay!
Donald Terrell Ferrari ff for life
Well, the basic design is about 60 years old, so you're correct
Thanks for including the series and episode numbers! You rock!
If you want a piece of high quality engineering, you buy the Porsche. If you want an art masterpiece on wheels, you buy the Ferrari. Both wonderful cars.
Does anyone know the song that starts at 3:10-3:27 ?
Edit: it’s called Pony Pressure
This show really had some good looking cinematography
3:19 - I love how the satnav shows the capitals everywhere in continental Europe, but decided to display only Glasgow in the UK. 🤣
This car aged well for a 12 year old car.
The C6 Corvette also aged pretty well.
Not really
2:08 The Top Gear Team doesn't just love cars... They love cameras too!!! This « vertigo » shot comes right out of an horror movie !!! Yeah... Love it!
What is a Porsche Turbo?
And what you mentioned is, what I like about Porsche. The 911 for instance improved in so many ways in the past 50 years, but it could keep the characteristics of the first generation.
But I guess it is just a matter of taste, if you want to choose between the Porsche and the Ferrari, because ,as you said, both are awesome cars.
The 911 turbo is the fastest A to B car still. Too many supercars have trouble going around speed bumps, crests and multistory car parks.
0:11 I mean i love Anthrax. It is an awesome band, but i‘d still rather have an 911 than seeing them live
2:43 Jeremy sure has a way with words.
2:13??? Wow!
I would like to add the filming and the angles they get from the cameras are thoughtout and the timing is perfect "hot air balloon firing off its burner while going over head and still get the shot of the car they want" incredible!! props to the camera guys!! 3:12
How the hell is it 2025 already 😢
997.1 manual turbo, especially in gt silver is a classic.
I don’t think any American auto show had or would ever match Top Gear. The show especially with this trio was lit 🔥
"Theere! is the peach and peacock, the cornerstone of any Porsche driver's Sunday lunch. And there's still room left over for the ice cream, made from the bones of your defeated squash opponent."
Aa a boxster owner and squash player, I laughed hard on this.
4:37 if you listen carefully they actually used the tokyo drift chase soundtrack, I actually just noticed that lol
I never slam the hood of mines like that. I was like Whoa! 😂
I’ve always looked at the Porsche 911’s no matter the model as kinda of the boring super car that’s more accessible than the other brands and has quirky owners but after driving a few of them my opinion has completely changed about them. The power in the naturally aspirated cars is really quite surprising and they handle and sound fantastic. Personally I prefer the caymans but the 911 has gained a lot of my respect over the last few years.
I was like jeremy not so much about porche but after going in gt3 rs the old manual one and i tell you its amazing
My grandpa has a 911 Turbo S and it is insane… he also has an F430 and that is equally as fun in different ways… a Porsche compared to a Ferrari is like judging two different styles of cooking
The Prodigy - Climbatize during the driving session. Great track to drive to
Honestly, on a track day experience I drove a db9 convertible, a f430 convertible, an audi r8, a special edition of a lamborghini gallardo, and a 911 turbo.
My favourite was the 911. It felt comfortable and felt faster because I was more comfortable and confident driving it. And when the turbo kicks in my god the acceleration was insane.
Was gifted one of those track day packages with similar yesteryear supercars and the Porsche is the only one that still felt tight. The others had not aged well and very clearly suffered from their amateur track use and likely less than ideal maintenance.
what's the song at 3:10?
Lo Fidelity Allstars - Pony Pressure
This Porsche 911 Turbo still looks timeless to this day, if this was sold today: everyone would believe it as a 2019 car. Nobody would believe that this Porsche 911 Turbo came from 2008!!
my heart pounded at The Prodigy's music
The sopranos Main theme. Impressed
Richard Hammond never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
My dad just got one it goes 140 in fourth gear amazing car
3:30 - 4:17 The Prodigy - Climbatize
Great song, from a great album!
The 911 is probably the most iconic car ever made.
