This is adorable. I don’t live near my mom anymore and this really makes me miss her. Japanese moms are in a league of their own 😅❤ I’m looking into buying one of these so we can make them together when she visits. So happy I found this video

Indeed, I have watched UA-cam videos of street vendors making takoyaki. I was wondering how they can be made at home. It's way cheaper and you can control what goes into it. Thank you for being awesome, Niki Niki and Niki Niki's Okaasan. *hearts*

This was one of my favorite street foods when I was stationed in Japan many years ago. Everything was 100x better in Japan, even the sandwiches at the convenient stores were perfection.

I enjoyed your demonstration of making takoyaki. I hope to master this skill and maybe do this at parties.
I want to make them without octopus, and dessert ones w red bean paste inside.

Niki, I do believe that you had to add all of the other ingredients (the crunchy flakes, green onions, etc.) into the mix (egg, water, flour) then pour it in. Then you add the squid, as you did. Anyway, that is how I make okonomiyaki. I would add all of the other ingredients (the crunchy flakes, yam powder, green onions, cabbage, etc.) into the mix (egg, water, and flour), cook it and then add on top of it meat, if any

You and your mom a good job. Shrimp or whatever is in your fridge. I do that when I have extra tempura batter, so you could do the same with takoyaki batter. Your mother might just buy more tako. 😆 No deviation.

You both did a good Job...I prefer the smaller bits of Tako in there too. I would be the only one eating this though. My Hubby is Hakujin, and isn't a big fan of Tako. But, I heard Niki mention Shrimp or Ham. He likes both of those.

Looked awesome. Yeah, always looked like timing was important for separating and turning takoyaki. I'd probably throw in bacon and cheese. Maybe spam? lol
